This looks good for Sunday's game.

    Ingredients
    12 skin-on chicken drumsticks
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
    2 cups apple juice
    1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
    1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
    2 teaspoons honey
    Grated zest of 1 lemon
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
    2 teaspoons sesame seeds (optional)
    1 tablespoon unsalted butter
    Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Set a wire rack on a rimmed baking sheet. Put the drumsticks on the rack and season both sides generously with salt and pepper. Bake 30 minutes; flip the drumsticks and continue baking until golden and crisp, about 30 more minutes.

Meanwhile, make the sauce: Bring the apple juice, vinegar, soy sauce, honey, lemon zest, red pepper flakes and a pinch of salt to a high simmer in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until the sauce is syrupy and coats the back of a spoon, 20 to 25 minutes. Set aside until the chicken is done.

Stir the sesame seeds into the sauce, if using, and warm over medium heat, if necessary. Transfer the chicken to a large bowl. Add the sauce and butter and toss to coat. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer the chicken to a platter and drizzle with any remaining sauce from the bowl.

ossa~No you don't see the name Chelmsford very often.  In New England there are a lot of towns named after towns in the UK.  When Chelmsford celebrated its 350th anniversary, we invited the Mayor of Chemsford, England to come to celebrate.  The whole common was packed with residents and they even had enough cake to feed everyone.  What a coincident that you live on Chelmsford Pl.

This is the lobster dinner I had at the Lobster Pot in Hamilton Bermuda.  It's not as tasty as ours but it was still good with lemon and butter.

Deb - I think I am making buffalo chicken legs for the game Sunday.  I like to do chicken legs instead of wings - way cheaper and more meat, less skin/fat.  I usually grill or broil them, brushing on a mixture of Franks's and butter  frequently during the last 20 minute or so of cooking. And I put a rub on them before I pop them in the broiler.

We went to see Warhorse tonight - very good although the battle scenes were a bit disturbing.  Then we popped in to the bar & grill next to the theater for a margarite pizza.

Laurie - we are going to a party...our kids and their friends have adopted us for football parties Laughing  They all take turns and we always get an invite.  We'll reciprocate during the summer when we can spread out!

    Good Night Ladies

    Have a good weekend!

It is so cold in here, I have the fire going and the plug in oil radiator, and the gas "heat" but it is still freezing. Time to get under the covers with the kitties. See you Monday. :)

I made the garlic wedge potatoes for lunch. They were delicious. My kids and I gobbled up the whole cookie sheet full, and dipped them in home made ranch dressing. It was the best potatoes we have ever had. Tonight , just grabbed pre made cobb salads for hubby and I from Safeway. They were pretty tastey.

The potatoes look like they are easy to make so I will try the recipe tonight.  I don't know whether to have Meatloaf or Crap cakes and baked beans.  If DH wants the Crap cakes, I'll save the potatoes for another time.

Deb- lol- ry bat wings on your crap cakes, might make a nice flavor?

Michelle- I love how close you are with your family, have fun tomorrow!

Carrie- Yup, one year out.  I seem to have a lot of nerves lately about cancer coming back and no one looking for it since I was DCIS.  Dumb.  It is a milestone.  I was thinking about it the other day, hard to believe when I was diagnosed my youngest was 4 months old now he is talking and 2!  Baffling.

I have had a craving for a turkey burger, I am going to try to get everyone on board to have those for dinner tonight.  If not- I'll probably roast a chicken.

For lunch we had a salad of chopped arugula, tomato, onion and cannellini beans (rinsed and drained from a can). Wholewheat bread on the side.

For dinner we went to an Asian place nearby, and I had a bok choy salad with red peppers, lime, coriander and poached chicken. So I was a good girl yesterday :)

I agree Deb, if your husband doesn't want meatloaf, give him crap cake.

    My kitties will help too.

OMG...too funny that you didn't realize why we were having so much fun, Deb!!!   I really need to make some homemade baked beans.  In Kansas City, it's all about barbecue beans.  i was never a big fan, but I've always liked New England baked beans.    Anyone have a recipe for making them from scratch?

Michelle- My Memere made a killer pot of baked beans, she left behind no recipe.  We have all tried to duplicate it and can't come close...

We had friends over today and their grandson is the same age as our oldest so they brought him along, as they usually do.  What a great afternoon!  DH made an awesome pot of chili, our friend brought some meatballs and chips and dip, the guys had sausage subs.  The boys all played in the basement playroom with each other and got along while we watched the game.  It was actually a relaxing afternoon!  We decided we will do it every Sunday, football or no football.  Pot luck!  It was a great day.

I will add as a foot note- today is the anniversary of my mothers passing.  7 years- it does not seem possible it has been that long since I hung out with her.  I had some tears over the last few days.  Yet, the way I spent the day today would have made her happy.  She was all about having a good time and relaxing and enjoying life.  So here is to you mom, I miss you, remember you and think of you every day, grateful for the time we had together.  Truly blessed.

Laurie - so glad you had a good day. It must have been incredibly tough to lose your mom, especially while both of you were so young.

My Dad turned 84 today, I went to visit him but before I did I picked up a nice Patriots hooded sweat shirt which he loved.  I asked him if he wanted to wear it while he watch the game and he said yes. So I took off his sweatshirt that he was wearing and he said, you just want to look at my belly. LOL Some times he comes out with the silliest comments.  I posted some pictures of him of FB.  I wanted to light a candle and put it on the cupcake I bought him but I don't smoke so didn't have a match of lighter.  I tried to light it on his electric stove, all that did was stink up the apartment and had the nurses come in to investigate what that smell was. It was the wax that was burning on the burner, so don't try to light a candle with an electric stove it only works on gas stoves. LOL

Laurie - you're right, your mom was smiling down on you yesterday as you  enjoyed a "family and friend" day!   And Deb - I am sure your dad loved the sweatshirt and the game.  That is such a funny comment about seeing his belly!  And yes, I'm pretty sure it would be hard to light a candle on an electric burner...lol.

Oh my, did you hear Steven Tyler's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner?  What a mess!  He's going to take well-earned crap for that.

We had a great time with our kids and their friends yesterday.  The game was incredible and you could hear a collective roar across New England when Baltimore missed that final field goal attempt.  We ended up buying wings at the grocery store rather than me making the chicken legs.  My oldest son was disappointed so I promised to make them for Super Bowl Sunday.  Now I am on the hook!!!

My mom has a doctor appointment this morning.  It's flurrying but it's supposed to warm up.  I hope the roads aren't too nasty.  It's a lot of driving to go get her, take her to Nashua, then back to her place and back home for me.

Laurie - my Memere made great beans, too.  And that recipe is also long gone.

Laurie  So glad you had a great day.  the best kind of winter day, staying in, and staying warm with good friends and food. Your mom is looking down and smiling

Gonna try to find some low fat alternatives for super bowl Sunday.  Yesterday was popcorn and a beer.  Funny mixed up day.

Finally broke down and got groceries...OMG it is expensive to eat healthy...fruits and vege prices are out of sight.

OK  I am done  whining....  I think turkey burgers tonight and those oven fries  supposed to be almost 50 degrees today  maybe light up the grill

OK, I made myself an early dinner and it was pretty good. I turned on the oven to 425. Then in a roasting pan I tossed 1.5lbs halved baby roma tomatoes, 1.5lbs artichoke bottoms (frozen) cut up a bit, 3 large onions, sliced, 5-6 cloves garlic, sliced, zest of a lemon, salt, pepper, parsley, olive oil. Roasted that for about 15 minutes, then put a large piece of boneless fish on top and cooked until fish was done.

Momine- You are being so good!  I am hoping you'll rub off on me a bit :)

Carrie- Enjoy your turkey burger and home made fries.  I am going to buy some fresh sage and try them this week too.  I ended up having my turkey burger the other night and it was delicious.  I hadn't had one in so long, it hit the spot.  I made an extra and had that for lunch the following day.

My younger son seems to have gotten a stomach bug, though now that he has thrown up on everything, seems to feel much better.  Supposed to finally roast that chicken tonight.  At the moment I am still grossed out.  Bleck.

Michelle- Stay safe on the roads, temps are supposed to drop later.

Carrie- I couldn't agree more about how expensive it is if you want to try to eat healthy.  I let the kids pick three fresh fruits a week, I can't afford to buy more than that.  It bugs me because they actually eat them and love them.  We get two fresh veggies a week besides that it is frozen veggies.  Some weeks  I can only do 1.  It's stupid, the fattening stuff should be expensive, we'de all be skinny!

Tell me about it. I got a big bag of clementines yesterday fit $5, and I thought that was pretty good. But brownie mix was on sale for $1, and I did get a few of those. It's great that your boys like fruit though. They'll like it their whole lives.

My DD drinks juice, and that's the same way. It costs like $3 for half a gallon of juice, but you can buy soda for $1. I like it best when she drinks water, but I'd much rather she drink juice than soda.

Going out to Uno's with some friends today. I really love their deep dish pizza, but I'll try to practice moderation.

    Have a nice evening everyone.

mmmm- Kay I wish I was going to Uno's!  Enjoy!!  And you are right, a gallon of milk- 4 dollars, 1/2 gallon of OJ-3 dollars, soda is so much cheaper, I guess because it is fake?
