Congratulations Bren!!
I'm at the 5 year mark this month. Unlike everybody else though I don't remember exact dates. Don't know why really except maybe that I went into full compulsive research mode and didn't even know what day of the week it was sometimes.
-
Congratulations Bren and Rabbit!
And a moment of silence for the many, many sisters on this thread and elsewhere who do not have the luxury of celebrating as we early stagers do. We are very lucky, and may our luck continue because I have no faith in the cancer establishment to do anything for me.
-
Congrats, Bren!! I hope your Wildcats can give you yet another reason to celebrate this weekend!
I just passed my 9 year mark for cancer #1. When I was diagnosed with #2 five years later, I told myself to remember the day. But I swear I can't. I can hardly remember what year it was--I have to count from the first one!
If two Stage 1s are as bad a cancer gets for me, I will still consider myself a very fortunate girl. Far too many have had but one that ended their lives all too soon, or are currently struggling with the disease.
-
(((Anne))) I hadn't noticed your diagnoses until now - crummy luck!
-
Anne, that is wonderful! Nine Years! I hope I can say that some day too.
-
{{{ANNE}}} You go girl!
-
PIP, I'm counting on you still being here! My mom had a breast cancer that seems to mirror yours, way back in 1968. All she had was radical surgery, cobalt radiation, and very strong will to raise her kids. She lived 20 years (Tamoxifen helped at the 10 year point!) before dying of a different cause. You had some kick-ass chemo, and you're fiesty.
Hang in there!!
-
Thank you Anne. You have made my day! I am hanging in for the long run.
-
Four years last month
-
Rosemary, HUGS for you gal!!
-
Congrats, rosemary!
I'll hit 7 years in September.
-
Rosemary .. that's wonderful news!
Barbara .. love your new avatar .. you and hubby look so cute!
Bren
-
Thanks Bren. The pic is 8 years old now. We look a LOT older now. Glad to see you feeling better.
-
(((Bren))) Glad to see you better too!
I think it's a lovely picture, Barbara.
-
Thanks, Athena. Ah to be 8 years younger.
-
I want to be 8 years younger too! I was so pretty and I didn't even appreciate it! And I had lots of energy and pep in my step. Cancer and menopause suck.
Bren
-
Me too. I didn't know I had cancer 8 years ago. Ah, to be younger and ignorant!
-
Have any of my fellow Canadians been watching our candidates on the campaign trail? I've always disliked Harper, but now that I've actually been paying attention, I can't believe the man's arrogance. Take 1 or 2 questions and walk away. Is it just me, or does Ignatieff seem somewhat slimy? And who is that annoying french/english translator? If he isn't the most annoying voice they could find. Does anyone think Mr. Layton (I'll use Mr., because I actually respect the guy), is a lot sicker than he's letting on?
-
Ya, I don't know who I'm gonna vote for yet. Ray asked me if there's a Marijuana Party. I told him we could have one this weekend! hehehehe!
-
Blue, I think someone should start one, ASAP. I promise to attend.

Gracie:
Boy, have you hit the nail on the head in all three cases - I am a Liberal but can't stand Iggy - he's just too arrogant and the word slimey does resonate. I can't stand Harper - and don't trust him one bit he's also arrogant and acts like he's Prime Minister for Life and as for Jack Layton - I am not an NDPer but without them would we actually have mat leave or healthcare? And yes, I do think his health is a problem but he's going through what we here all are and so I'd say that perhaps he needs a couple of years to get his strength back - the problem I see here in Canada is that the majority's needs aren't being met WE NEED A WOMAN PM. At the very least we need someone with some charisma - the younger people from 35 on down just aren't turning out to vote and we need them to - if I were in my 30s I'd be bored out of my mind by our politicians. JMHO.

Well, Florida is trying to find money to prop up Medicaid so what do they do? Cut cancer research funding. Sheesh.
-
Awww, Layton has charisma! Is my support for the man showing? I just can't help but wonder that since he broke his hip (which I can only assume is cancer-related) that he's taken on more than he's able to handle. I admire his tenacity, but feel very sorry for him at the same time. What do you think of May being shut out of the debate?
-
Gracie:
Actually Layton does have charisma but you'll never get a majority in Canada to vote NDP - just won't happen - I do think his hip is cancer treatment related and I honestly think he'll be o.k. but not sure an election campaign is a good idea but what the heck - he can do as he pleases he's been through hell and he's back so good for him.
Ah yes, I had forgotten about May - brain not working hard this early in the day. I cannot understand why they'd shut her out - I'd like one of these middle aged men that made the decision tell me how THEY'D get over a million votes - of course she should be in the debate(s) - gotta love it - middle aged white men run the whole country and we shouldn't let them, they are, after all, in the minority now but as long as no one goes out to vote then they'll continue to control us - the Liberals here in Burlington nominated a young woman this past weekend her name is Alyssa Brierly, she's a lawyer (of course) and also has a PhD from York in Polysci so we'll see how she does - I'm signing up to volunteer for her today (if her committee room is finally open).

I know.....even a staunch NDP'r like me has to vote for the Liberal in my riding. No one has a hope in hell of winning against him. Happy volunteering Sandy!
-
Otter, you'll be the first to know!
-
Blue -- I'm coming too!
I don't find Iggy slimey in the least. My nephew ran for the Green Party in the last election in Iggy's riding. Iggy held a fundraiser for him after the election to help with his election expenses! My nephew says he'll definitely vote for him in this election and has nothing but warm, positive things to say about him.
I detest that dreadful ad the Cons put out about Iggy coming back home only to be elected. That's nasty!
As for Layton -- well, unless he's changed from the old days when we knew him, he's plenty arrogant. I feel badly for him having to campaign while he is ill, but I do think he should have resigned a couple of years ago.
Just my thoughts! Don't yell at me!
-
Linda, I would never yell at you! Julian Fantino is running conservative in our riding. Wish he was a liberal. I like him.
-
blue, I think I've heard of him. Is he that ex-cop?
