Ah, that was a test that made more sense to me. Very specific questions on your opinion on specific issues, rather than general, philosophical questions laden with assumptions. So here, goes, not surprisingly my analysis - thanks for the link, Riley:

You know what made me so sad - that a small number of the questions on this test were not political at all - they were fact-based, but in our country science has been hijacked by ideologues. It made me envious to see how you Canadian sisters, by contrast, disagreed on your interpretation of what the facts mean, or what you priorities are, or what aspects you think are most salient but never on the facts themselves. Whether Harper should have been held in contempt is an acceptable political argument. Whether global warming exists is not - except in America, and that's why we are the laughing stock of so much of the world. It's okay if you don't agree with cap and trade or a carbon tax, so long as you agree that the ozone layer is imperiled by human activity.
We have always led in scietific inquiry, discovery, inventiveness, and we inspired the world over with the free flow of knowledge and the celebration of fact, but our discourse is being taken over by those who are on their way to making us the National Enquirer of cultures.
Is that how Empires, fall, I wonder? They lose track of what made them strong?

Wow, on my trust meter, I apparently gave the following people the following scores:
Obama: A+
McCain: B-
H. Clinton: D
Bush: D
I'm surprised that Hillary did as badly as Bush for me, and I give McCain unexpectedly (for me) high marks, as I do Obama.
-
....Oops - just read some posts that I had missed - so I'm here, as you can all see. :-) Waving to Barbara, Blue, Bren, Mary and everyone.
-
good to see you Athena! Hope you are feeling better.
-
((ATHENA))) Back and cogent as usual.
-
I came out closest to John Edwards....ewwwwwww!....but second-closest to Obama. McCain was in the middle.
Oh, and my Florida buddy (a Libertarian former CFO) and I agree that Single Payer is the most efficient and least expensive way to deliver health care in the US. And some Alaskan guy in the airport insinuated that I'm too educated to have common sense, because I actually read the OASDI financial statements. ??
E
-
Oh Enjoyful -- what an insult, to say you're too educated! Ewwwwww! How could you stand it???
Your CFO buddy should know whereof he speaks. And haven't we been saying for years(?) that single-payer is by far the most economical?
-
Enjoyful:
John Edwards AND too educated EWWWWWW! Haven't we been telling the U.S. for years that single payer is the way to go - contrary to popular smear campaigns it's working in Canada.
Sandy

They are talking about the political test on my son's radio station right now. Apparently, it almost always shows the person taking the test as leaning towards the left. Interesting. Especially since it is being touted by the Toronto Star. (A liberal paper...for our American ladies info)
-
Apparently if you say "I don't know" it will push you towards liberal. One caller has come up as conservative, one NDP and all of the rest are liberal.
-
Well that's good news, pip! If I'm further right than the poll shows it puts me squarely in Obama's court.
Oh Linda, I know. But he was a sweet guy so I just smiled and walked away.
Isn't it awful, Sandy?! I was very upset about the Edwards thing until pip posted about the poll's bias. Now I feel better. Yes, single payer makes the most economic sense for everyone, businesses included.
-
This is off topic friends ... but, I wanted to share that today is my fourth cancer survivor anniversary. It feels so weird. I can't believe four years have gone by since my surgery.
Yay for me!
Bren
-
So,, since single payer IS, by any stretch of the imagination, or any economic analysis, far more economically sensible, why are the bulk of fiscal conservatives against it?
Edited -- I should never try to do two things at once
-
Four years!! Congrats, Bren! It's a bittersweet day, for sure, but the farther away from that dreaded discovery, the better.
Linda - My guess is that conservatives want the market to provide all goods and services. In theory, businesses providing goods and services will be more economical in their quest to cut costs and save money, thus earning more profit. Unfortunately, this doesn't work very well with health insurance since the best way to cut costs is to deny service.
The health insurance companies built themselves a niche in the economy and we let them do it, much to our detriment.
-
Yes, congrats Bren!!!
Well, I know we've been through this argument umpteen times before, but the more I see of what's happening down your way, the clearer it becomes that many folks are content to stick with an economic theory that does not work in the healthcare field, for the sake of maintaining nothing more than a "dream"of a free (healthcare) market. And that's really all it is anymore -- a dream.
-
(((BREN))) Congrats!
-
WTG Bren!
-
Yay (((Bren))) !
-
Congrats Bren. I had my 4th in Feb. It is amazing, and scary, how fast the time went!
E, I don't know about your American poll. It is the Canadian one that is looking biased. Although they are very similar, I don't know if the same applies to yours. Sorry. Maybe it is all true about your connection to Edwards!
-
PiP, a belated congrats to you as well. HUGS!
-
Huge milestone Bren - good job!
-
congrats Bren! Heres to many more!
-
Yaaay Bren.
-
Well, tonight is leftover free range rotisserie chicken made into chicken salad with organic grapeseed oil mayo (really tasty stuff), grapes, slivered almonds, celery and scallions. Oh boy! Accompanied by roasted sprouts w/olive oil, garlic, onion, rosemary. Followed by my usual coconut milk ice cream, flavor to be determined.
RE: the gaining weight thing, I have to slow down. I have gained 4 pounds since I started eating the ice cream. Problem is, I like it.
So what should I do? I think limit myself to ice cream 3 times a week.
-
I hear you Barbara. Before surgery I had bad involuntary movements so basically I was constantly exercising. I could eat anything and it never stayed on. I was drinking ensure plus to help me put on some weight, and that didn't even work.
I hope I can stay at this weight, and not gain anymore now.
-
Congrats, Bren and PiP! We're the "class of 2007" I guess!
I still remember all those dates -- Jan 2 painful spot, Feb 2 mammo/US, Feb 14 inconclusive fine needle aspiration (what a way to spend Valentine's day), Mar 2 excisional bx/lumpectomy, Mar 9 dx over the phone with BS, Mar 13 office consult with BS, April 16 mx, etc., etc.
Not sure what the anniversary is! Except maybe June will be the 4th anniversary of starting to breathe again!
-
Happy Cancerversary, Bren! It is amazing how fast the years fly by. It will be six years for me on the 15th. Just realized that six years ago today, I had the mammogram that started me down this road.
Haven't had time to go take the poll. Your responses have made me curious, so I will try to go take it tomorrow.
-
Thanks friends! You guys are the best!
Bren
-
I remember all those dates too Ann. Probably always will.
