Thank you Elizabeth. I think of you all the time. Meditate for you

I read that that video was shot at a union protest in Sacramento. If your story is on protests in Wiscnsin, use footage from Wisconsin. That would be reporting the news.

THANK YOU. It seems to be okay to "discuss" religion on a thread that is titled to be exclusively for women of a particular religion. I was very interested to learn something about the Muslim religion earlier in this thread - and I thought Blue Dahlia's starting of this thread with NO TATTLING - was as "allowed" in BC.org as having a thread for a particular religion.
So sad to have a small group of bullies determining what everyone else can read, and telling others with bc how to support each other. I've learned a lot reading this thread - including some good dinner suggestions. Thank you.
-
I got a hugagan last year! I still sit there and admire all the different patterns and skill it takes to make them. So very beautiful. Warm and toasty. I love it.
-
Hey Kids .. I had a nap and missed about two pages this afternoon!
I honestly don't believe this thread is toxic. It's my favorite thread on BCO! What is toxic is having posts deleted and getting everyone in a tailspin.
I can't tell you how much I have learned from participating in this thread .. and all the friends I've made here. I think it's great.
I'm glad the topics get a little heated from time to time, keeps a gal on her feet and the adrenaline pumping.
It's pretty cool that were are such a diverse group. We're our own little microcosm .. and for the most part, we all get along really well.

KK .. I was fortunate enough to receive a hugaghan as well. I love it so much!

Dear Konakat!! I am so glad that the moderators eased up on you. You are such a role model for those who need encouragement and guidance. You are one of the bravest women that I have ever met and you have great spunk and determination. God bless you, Kathy

Kathy: I don't know whether to laugh or cry after reading your post in BOLD. You are really missing the entire point of my posts. I do not want to be 5 years old again but that is just how I think Melissa is treating us. I also know 5 year olds in school fight and can get very mean with one another. If yours don't you really are blessed! As for wanting to get away from the horror of cancer....what do you think we are doing when we post about different issues? I like to discuss politics, religion, food and anything rather than just focus on cancer 24 hours a day! If you like to just think about bc all day long, this forum has tons of threads you can read about it. I post on many other threads when I have questions about bc and "have" to think about it. However, our beloved Blue, came up with this thread so we could talk about anything we wanted to without people like yourself criticizing us for it. I think Melissa finally understood why we needed this particular thread until some troublemakers kept poking her and telling her we were not being nice to each other. How negative can RELIGION be??
I think people who want to destroy this thread pick on a couple of posts that may seem a bit negative and point them out to Melissa or keep hitting that crappy delete button just to make problems. You said you weren't one of them and whether you are telling the truth or not is not for me to judge. We all have a greater judge to face one day. However, you didn't win points with me for the way you blasted Blue's thread the way you did. Sorry but honesty is the best policy in my book. Since you must be a kindergarden teacher from what you said, I really don't think you want us to start acting like your sweet little kids. Kindergarden was the nightmare of my life so please don't ask me to want to go back to being 5 years old. I also wish Melissa would not treat us like we were 5 years old. Have a good day and enjoy your kiddies. Just don't get offended that I don't want to be one of them.

I am sorry to have offended the knitters but if you saw my knitting you would either laugh or cry.

"I just ran across the funniest video - It's from Bill O'Reilly's show. He's talking about the Wisconsin protests but who knows where he got the video. Pause the video at 15 seconds in - palm trees in Wisconsin! And I believe I see some short sleeves! Who knew!"

River - TOO FUNNY...but the joke's on you, NOT Bill O'Reilly! lol The youtube you posted showed palm trees in a segment that opened with the words "Unions ALL OVER THE COUNTRY are protesting". Get it?...ALL OVER THE COUNTRY...i.e. Wisconsin and CALIFORNIA. LOL Too funny. Just for the record, k?
-
Rosemary, no kidding - O'Reilly used footage from Sacramento while talking about Wisconsin?! I guess I shouldn't be surprised but you would think somebody responsible at the show would've noticed the palm trees. LOL
Alright, if you want to talk about knitting I can deal with that as long as I can talk about whatever hobby I might have at the moment (I like to try everything, even though my abilities are definitely limited).
-
Laura, but his discussion was about Wisconsin, right? So why show the other video?

Dear Medigal, I don't think that I blasted her thread, I gave my opinion, I thought in a positive way. I am not a deleter, I don't do that, I speak my mind to your on-line face. I idid report a post once, but that was it. And do you think it was O.K. that Blue told me that she eats people like me for breakfast and then spits them out. What kind of a comment was that, on a supposedly positive and informative thread??? Come on, this works both ways here, be fair to me. You guys just don't like people like us on your thread. Now who is being predjudiced?? Geez, give me a break. Kathy

Did you not read my post? The segment was titled UNION PROTESTS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY...California happens to be included in our country. I'm curious...what part of all over the country do you not "get"?
-
Hi Anne, I suppose I am naive that way. BC rocked me to my core and sent me to such a dark, miserable place that my heart is softened for others facing a similar situation no matter who they are. Enjoy yor hummus and I wish you a good outcome and speedy recovery for your surgery.
Erica, please ask your relatives who are servicemen how many women they have widowed and how many they have liberated then let us have this discussion. Can anyone say that the lives they have taken are worth the lives they have "improved? Odd that no one was concerned about the Taliban oppressing women in 1997 when they met with then Gov Bush to discuss the oil pipline. Makes me wonder just how valuable we Muslim women really are when balanced against oil $$'s.

Kinder,
That was AFTER you came on here with your holier-than-thou attitude, and AFTER you said you had reported a post. I showed restraint then asI am doing now. GOD BLESS!
-
Dear Blue, I do not have a holier than thou attitude, I never have!!!! I always put others first, because that is what I have learned from my upbringing. You know that what you said to me was wrong, but I know I will never get an apology from you and that is O.K. I told you that I forgave you, because that is who I am!!!!! I am a happy person, I love life and I love that I can be on this thread giving my strong opinion when I want to. God bless you, too!!!! kathy

Sigh...gearing up for another banning. In the event that it happens just know that I am not anti American, Christian or Jew. I am anti-hater and the hate they create. I have watched while Islam has been used as an excuse to wage war and murder people and no one to this day can bring anything other than their own desires to justify it.
On the other hand, I wanted to discuss this with you all. I was taken to the emergency room for heart palpitations a few weeks ago and is customary they do drug and alcohol screens. My blood alcohol level was abnormal. I do not drink, never have. When I told this to my Doc she poo poo'd me and told me not to worry about. How could I not worry when I have enough alcohol in my system to fail a breathalyzer? At any rate, upon further investigation I found articles on Auto Brewery after getting a lead from a friends teen aged daughter. Anyone every heard of it?

Scary stuff. I was on massive antibiotics which I believe lead to candidiasis.

That is amazing information, Eff! I've never heard of it. Did your doctor diagnose you with candidiasis? How do you get rid of it?

Well, I'm back - sort of. I think I'm still on restriction, but I won't know that for sure until I go over my alloted 5 posts. It's wonderful to see a lighthearted element returning to this thread, and I'm certainly grateful for the support of other women here, but I'm feeling pretty conflicted right now. Yesterday's events were deeply discouraging. I don't think I realized just how discouraging until my daughter, who at 17 is way wiser than I will ever be, asked me why I participate in a site that ends up upsetting me.
I tried to deny it - I like to think I'm pretty tough, and I also consider it to be an honor to be attacked by the hate gang - but the fact is, she's right. It does upset me.
I'm tired of not knowing from one day to the next whether I'll be able to post. I'm tired of seeing this site disrespected by posters with multiple identities. I'm tired of seeing a source of support turned into a playground for bullies. I'm tired of insults and namecalling and the glee the haters seem to take in their hatred.
At the same time, I love the regular posters on this thread, and our exchanges about everythng under the sun from brussel sprouts to health care reform to possum penises. I know that if I do end up taking a break from bco, as I think might be best, I will really, really miss our exchanges here.
Wishing all the best to my BC sisters,
L

(((((((((((((((((( Lewing ))))))))))))))))))
I know that feeling of being tired -- sometimes I'm too tired to say much more than "hugs" -- but please take the best care of yourself that you can, and I hope that will mean we can enjoy your company here!!!!!!!!
-
Just come back with your new name or stay away, simple LEW
-
Erica, please ask your relatives who are servicemen how many women they have widowed
HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT TO ME. HOW DARE YOU !!!!!!!!
-
Lewing, I hope you're not on restriction. I feel that you have been unfairly targeted here. I also hope that you stick around. But I also understand if you don't want to spend your time here.
I myself have put those that call names on "ignore." I had turned that off earlier today to try to figure out what went on last night but then there was a post that reminded me that I needed to turn that back on. I don't have a problem with those who have opinions different from mine. In real life some of those I'm closest to are conservatives and/or very religious and we are free to talk and disagree. But we don't call each other names and I have no patience for those that do, be they in real life or online.
So with the ignore feature firmly engaged I find the discussion here to be lively and informative.
FYI for the conservative ladies - I haven't put all of you on ignore, only a very few. I enjoy hearing conservative viewpoints and read things that I otherwise would miss.
-
Kathy - I've been thinking about living in lala land where nothing is ever bad or unpleasant. If that was the way I wanted to live, I wouldn't watch TV, read the newspapers, talk to my neighbors or even go to church. AND - the last place I would frequent would be a BC support board. Have you not noticed that people are dying on this board? Does your heart not sink when you see a post with the word angel in the title? Do you not weep when you read some of the posts on this board? You've been posting on the Stage III board. How does it make you feel when one of those girls is going for testing because of new symptoms? I never post there, but I have a knot in my stomach until I hear their results. It makes me incredibly sad when one of them "graduates" to the Stage IV forum.
I'm happy for you that your life is so good and your faith is so perfect. I struggle with my faith every single day. I sincerely hope that you never have to face things that make you question your faith.
I'm sorry but this thread is one of the most positive things in my life. I love talking about politics. I love new recipes for brussel sprouts. I love hearing about how other cultures live. I have a very real possum phobia, but I was cheering when Erica's little buddy showed up for dinner. FYI - Erica and I have nothing in common except BC and possums, but I was so relieved and happy for her. Trust me, this wouldn't have happened on any other thread. This thread offers me a chance to NOT think about cancer or the other unpleasant aspects of my life.
It is your right to come on here and criticize us, but don't expect me to take it with a smile.
-
Kathy: I hate to disappoint you but this is not the Dark Ages. We are not prejudiced against Christians or any religions, imo. You seem a bit paranoid about this and it has nothing to do with whether one is comfortable on this thread. If you will recall, I was the one posting about the Bible and I consider myself a Christian even if I don't attend a Church. Yet, I was never made to feel I didn't belong on this thread due to my religioius beliefs. This is one thing I especially love about this group. They are NOT prejudiced against people for whatever their beliefs may be. Many on here are Atheists and do not make a banner of it as you do with your Christianity. If you want to Bless everyone, why can't you do it in your prayers like I do? Yet you seem to want to keep flagging your Christianity at us and then you accuse us of not wanting you on this thread because of it. Did you ever read the old saying "Go into your closet and pray"? Take a hint then you won't have to be paranoid about your Christianity. I have another saying I love: "Don't Preach Jesus, BE like Jesus!" I have lots more sayings but I think you get my point. Your criticism of Blue's thread is what caused your problems, not your religious beliefs, imo.
Now, let's all put this behind us, if we can, and start all over. How are you Kathy? Hope you are having a good day. Give your little kiddies a big hug for me. I love children. I just hated my Kindergarden teacher. She was a creature from Hell!
-
Not that I'm looking for forgiveness, but I thought that meant not bringing up the same issue ad nauseum.
I'm such a mean mofo!

Blue .. you're a kook .. is what you are!
love ya,
me
