Wow
- It never ceases to amaze me how anonymity makes some people so bold. If bc.org pblished the names of those who censor others I wonder how many would continue. The decent thing to do would be to say who you are and why you felt the post needed to be deleted but that probably will not happen
-
Attack, and then go hide in your cave. Remind you of anyone?
-
Despicable is right. A posse of vigilantes attempting to silence breast cancer survivors because they don't like what they say. Looks like the vermin are out tonight.
-
Grilled burgers (not bison or elk or venison; just plain ol' super-lean beef) with baked potatoes (Irish, not sweet -- darn it) and green beans. Hubs was cooking tonight, so I really can't complain.
.....

[Edited to add: Actually, I would like to complain AT THE TOP OF MY VOICE. I've spent the past 20 minutes composing an eloquent answer to lindasa's question about atrocities against indigenous people; and shortly after hitting "submit" I discovered the discussion had screeched to a halt because of an attack by the Deleters. Anyone see any analogies to certain dark, hazy creatures that play a key role in the Harry Potter movies?]

And Konanat was deleted again withi 15 minutes of posting. I hope you guys are having fun cackling in your cave.
-
You mean under their rocks in their caves. Cowards!
-
KK got deleted twice? What a bunch of &@%$'s.

Otter, I remember when Marlon Brando refused to accept his academy award because of the way Indians were portrayed in movies. When I was growing up I always thought they were the bad guys.
Then I grew up....

OMG .. Daniel Day Lewis .. in my all time favorite movie.

Make that three times, Bren - as of 8:34 PM Eastern. Two more and she is "banned for life" - JUST IN TIME TO BE LEFT WITH NO SUPPORT FROM HERE WHILE SHE UNDERGOES WHOLE BRAIN RADIATION, YOU USELESS F**KS!

Otter -- Absolutely right -- the wipeout of entire advanced civilizations in Mexico, Central and South America are to make one weep.
The irony in N.A. is that we kept the names of most of the tribes for our provinces, cities and states -- i.e. Ohio, Illinois, the Dakotas, Toronto, Manitoba and on and on. The sad thing is that most people don't even know that.
I'm not familiar with the early history of Australia. You've made me plan a visit to the library! And then there are the African countries.....

To those who caused the deletons:
If you hate the free exchange of ideas so much that you have to censor other people's ideas, why don't you stay where there is no discussion and just reinforcement of your ideas. I am sure you know of a site filled with like-minded people and feed of of each other there. There were no rules of bc.o broken by those who were deleted. The only rule broken was the one which says disagreeing with a post is not a reason to report it.
Edited to add: Konakat is going to need us more than ever now and yo pull this sh!^. What a bunch of nasty nasty women. I think I want roasted opossum for dinner tomorrow.

What goes around comes around.....mal'occhio, mal'occhio, mal'occhio. Be afraid!

.Laura, Erca, Shirley, where are you? Where is your outrage?

Aw Shucks!
I was so enjoying the discussion and learning about the Muslim faith, and then the deleters began their cowardly work again. Amazing how ignorant some people are in that if they don't like what is written they press the delete button. How childish.
On a different topic and I know that is a very tame subject compared to the read above, but today, I came to the conclusion that American women are more open than Canadian women about their breast cancer. Here is why I think this way.
I am a snowbird and spend 6 months in Florida and 6 months in Quebec. I recently joined the ladies group (WGA) at my local golf club here in Florida. In the last 4 weeks, I have met 5 women who openly told me about their breast cancer on our first golf game. I just met one again today. I didn't know her and was teamed up with her for the first time. She told me that she used to play tennis but since her breast cancer dx and treatment no longer plays but still runs, cycles, swims and plays golf etc.. So since I have been a member of this club here in Florida I have met 5 people who openly told me about their dx and they hardly know me. Now compare that to my club up north in Montreal where I have been a member of a golf club for 25 years and I only know of 3 women who have had bc. Obviously there must have been more women than those 3 in 25 years! The club in Florida has 200 women members and the one in Montreal has 400 women members.
Conclusion American women are more open about their breast cancer than Canadian women. Interesting!

Painterly -- that IS interesting! I do think Cdns are a bit more reticent. A couple of weeks after my surgery, I attended a Board meeting and quietly told the Chair that I would be "out of commission" for a period of time because I required chemo. A fellow Board member overheard and took me aside. She said "I don't want to invade your privacy but is it breast cancer?" When I confirmed that it was, she then told me she had been dx'd 19 years ago, had a lumpectomy, rads and tamox, and was in super health! I wanted to hug her! but I'd had no idea.
-
These cowardly A$$es make me sick. So smug and self righteous. As others have said,if you don't want to have exchange of ideas, stay on your own site, on your password protected thread and wallow in s@@t til the cows come home.
Ok, what can we do the make sure KK isn't banned for life???
I am pissed!

Okay, I'm reposting it. (Thanks for all the comments.)
lindasa, you asked how people in N. America (European-Americans?) feel about the history of genocide of the indigenous people our ancestors encountered and displaced upon arrival. I’d extend that question to Europeans in South America and Australia, as well as other invaders of other territories.
I am horrified. I grew up in a part of the country where Plains Indians dominated and were subsequently decimated. Now I live in a part of the country that was settled by one of the "5 Civilized Tribes." In fact, the tract of land we own was originally deeded to a Creek (Muskogee) Indian in the 1830's, shortly before he and his family were (presumably) bundled up and marched off to "Indian Territory" (a.k.a. Oklahoma) in the Trail of Tears.
White settlers in the upper Midwest did fear and hate the Plains Indians, generally, although I have family documents testifying to the often-friendly relationship between townspeople and their Indian neighbors in the late 1800's. It's my understanding that the white settlers in the Southeastern U.S. simply wanted the Indians gone, because Native Americans occupied land (as per federal treaties) that the white settlers wanted. The Southeasterrn Indians made every conceivable effort to accommodate the whites and to assimilate into white culture, to no avail.
I've also traveled through the western/Rocky Mountain states where some of the worst atrocities took place: Sand Creek, Washita, Wounded Knee.
That was a gruesome and unforgivable period in North American history. I know it wasn’t my fault. Most of my ancestors either weren’t here yet or weren’t living near where the abuse and killing took place. But, we ought not to forget those events or pretend they are irrelevant to our present lives. That would be like forgetting the Civil Rights marches of the 1960’s, or forgetting there ever was an “Andersonville”, or, heaven forbid, pretending the Holocaust never took place. And, lindasa, you ought to see the place-names here in the Southeastern U.S. For example: Sylacauga, Tuskegee, Saugahatchee, Tallapoosa, Cahaba, Tallageda, Conecuh, Choctawhatchee, Chattahoochee, Wetumpka, Loachapoka, Notasulga. Beautiful names, based on languages of people who were exiled halfway across the continent. Some of those same names reappear on maps of Oklahoma.

She probably is because she has had other posts deleted on other dates.
-
This is not right. KK has done nothing wrong. I can't just sit here and let a bunch of small minded, big mouth bullies get her kicked off this site. It is so obvious that she and Eff were targets of the hate mongers. Surely we can appeal to Melissa to see this and reinstate her. I'm going to give it mybest shot and send Melissa an email. I urge you all to do the same.
Thanks for letting me rant.

Everytime a certain element on here gets hot under the collar, the deletions start. I won't name any names because I've been deleted before because I did so. And someone got hot, and the deletions started.
Bring back konakat!

I leave for one day of work, start reading to catch up and crap is being deleted left and right all around me. We were talking about tornados last night and you guys had one on the thread.
The deletions always seem to start around the time one or two posters pop in from somewhere else to explain how no one here knows their A$$ from a hole in the ground or to nit pick someone's post and accuse them of something that didn't happen or twist some post around. Then the deletions start and I don't think the content has anything to do with it, I think it's the poster they don't like. I second everything everyone else has said about the deleters and double it for that matter.
Paint, I think you're right at least from my experience here in the US. So many people see your boobs before, during and after BC that it's hard not to show them to everyone you talk to. No modesty left after BC.
-
I feel terrible Elizabeth was deleted. I have always liked her and we shared our kitty bond. Did you ever think that maybe some Christian or Jewish women were deleting?? This thread is always in the top 5 Active Topics. AND EFF is go a bit overboard criticizing others religion.
I know several who read here but do not post
PLEASE don't take it out on a opossum. I don't think they would taste very good and would be very hard to clean
-
Thank you for that post, Otter. Very moving.
As for deleting Konakat's comments -- whoever did that is heartless. And gutless.
-
duct taping my hands...
-
....and my mouth.

Can't KK just do another identity? It seems like she may just have to fight fire with fire.
-
Jewish or Christian women? There wasn't anything Jewish or Christian about deleting a stage 4 sister who will start wbr soon. She will at least be on limited posts if not banned for life. I suppose anyone can call herself Jewish or Christian but those actions are not those of smeone who is following the teachings of either religion.
-
Kadeeb, She would still be on restriction. Newbies (which is what she would be under a new account), are only allowed five posts per day for ten 24-hour periods until they reach either fifty posts or ten days, whichever is latest. Her WBR is set to begin in a week or two.
Eff could also start as a new person, but her right to speak would be silenced. She wanted to discuss her Muslim faith and thought she was safe in doing so here. Until some terrorists silenced her.
