Let's Post our Daily Exercise

Went to the gym last night. 30 minutes recumbent bike, 15 minutes upper body weights (better get that in before surgery) and 15 minutes in the sauna!

welcome HollyDollyD! When is your surgery?
The stronger you are going in, the stronger you will be coming out.

I'm still laughing at the pets interrupting yoga video. That really made my day!
Vargadoll - You're definitely in that group. I still can't keep up with you.
Badger - I think I like your memory care clock better. My mother has a similar situation, but it happened in the ER waiting room. We were both petrified with terror. I had to get her into the public restroom near the waiting room. We had no extra clothes. It was a mess. I had to get someone in the ER to bring a gown, and some disposable pads and panties. She had a bowel blockage. I wish we could both forget this experience. I felt so bad for her. She hasn't had an incident like that since that time (knock on wood). Hopefully your mom will get better after treatment. I think illnesses make other things worse for the elderly (mind & control).
I ended up getting my 10000 steps yesterday after all. Will try again today (in between playoff games).

Ran/ walked on the treadmill today!
TwoHobbies, too funny, and very sweet, really, thanks! I've been going to the same yoga studio for fifteen years. My teacher has a new kitten who sometimes gets into the studio for fun. Over the years she's had several cats of different degrees of friendliness and even a pug with a litter of pups. The floor is heated and lovely for the critters

Badger, my heart goes out to you and understand when changes of our mother's happen in rapid succession; you're handling this wonderfully. Welcome HollyDollyD and what type of breast surgery are you facing? TwoHobbies, thanks for the smile as our border collie is a total yoga pest.
Starting two new classes next week. doing prep work, getting music and props for Move It Or Lose It, exercise class for older adults, seated or standing. And, added Pink Ribbon Pilates class, our Macmillan Cancer Support grant funded class starts Tuesday 6pm. Very chilly and windy, finally got all Christmas boxes back in the garage. DS is still home from term break with DH driving him back to Uni on Friday. Have a good start to the week everyone!
Pilates this morning.

Welcome HollyDolly!
Thinking of you, badger.
Oh my, I love those yoga pets......my cat Oreo loved to do yoga with me, and supervise any other home exercise. If I popped a DVD in, he'd be right there.
I got all the Christmas stuff down too (boo hoo.....it looks boring around here now) and cleaned the house as well (yuck). The fitbit challenge must be working for me because after all that work, I jumped on the treadmill and walked until I hit the 10,000 step mark.......something I would not have done otherwise. Vargadoll, you will want to find the group because you are kicking all of our butts!!!
We are supposed to have two days of nice weather (ie 30 degrees), possibly followed by 'a major winter storm', followed by a return to really cold weather.......sigh, I must live in North Dakota
-
Hi Everyone!
I hope everyone's having a good weekend...
Badger - I'm so sorry about your mom...and agree with the others - you are handling this so well and are such an amazing support to your mother...she must be so proud of you!!!
As for me - Got in my stationary bike workouts Friday and Saturday. And, today, went to U-Jam, it was great, the instructor worked us hard!!! By the time I was done, I was literally dripping in sweat!! And, had to blow-dry my hair because it was all wet and it's cold outside!!
Now - I need to get down to the business of helping DD with school work...ugh!!! (Homework time is *never* fun!)
-
Here's me and Oreo, my workout buddy.

Hear you about things looking barren without decorations, Ruth. However, I think I have figured this one out. I have a "post Christmas" thing I do. I got some Winterberry potpourri and chucked out the old after taking down the tree. So that feels quite decorative. Likewise, I will continue to light the holiday candle I was given until it's gone. I think I have a couple of weeks left. I also have a jar with lights in it that I was given by my late friend and cousin, Kathy. I had to replace the lights just before Christmas, and it's overflowing with lights now. That is in my window sill.
So a bit subdued and still festive. I still have the greenery and holly that I picked on Christmas Eve on the table. I have some leftover Christmas Pudding which I had with the leftover brandy butter with my tea. Still have a couple of servings left. Just the perfect thing on a chilly January afternoon.
Wish me luck in getting my new clutch sorted out tomorrow. All was fine on Thursday, until I backed into my parking space. Then the car shook. So it's back to the repair shop for a good look. The old one worked fine until it started slipping. So it's up to them to figure this out.
Not the worst of fates being grounded. I got much needed rest and caught up. Even did a spot of work this afternoon post run.
Just learned that I have some more contract work headed my way, so paying for my clutch PLUS funding my retirement accounts should be a cinch. - Claire

Ruth - that is absolutely adorable! What a cute cat!! My crotchety old cat, aka Snickers, just sits and watches me exercise for a few minutes, then gets totally bored and goes in her be

Vargadoll, you can slow down, so we can catch up! Snickersmom, when you get that close to 10,000 steps (like I did yesterday, or was it the day before), it does not take much energy to stand before the TV watching the news or whatever and march in place to get the remaining 200-300 or so steps. Yep, DH may think you're nuts but he probably thinks that anyway, so nothing lost. lol
Badger, give mom a big hug from me. Hopefully all will come out better after the procedure tomorrow. I also hope that your research may find housing closer to you even if she does improve. It will probably take a lot of the stress off of you if she is closer in any case. Here's a {{{HUG}}} for you too from me.
Today was a day off with no exercise. I did treat myself to a massage, it was heavenly. Our temps are back up tomorrow, 60's or so which means can get out and join my pickleball friends after my clay class. Boy, can't wait to one day have an 'ugly crafts' show/sale! But I press on trying to be creative.
Night sculpted friends.

My dearer Badger sending you one of my special hugs what a lot you have on your plate, in all,of the upheaval please don't forget to take care of yourself and breathe. Heidi I will take you to class anywhere, anytime but be warned I'm a talker...went to a Sprint class yesterday, the class was 30 minutes and then gasbagging with the instructor after class was 60 minutes - if there was an award for talking I'd win hands down. Pat someone in NH won the lottery was it you, if it was don't forget your friends here at LPODE 😀
No class for me today went to a wedding dress appointment, my gosh a baby I held in my arms at 3 hours old 27 years ago is getting married where did time go, seems like yesterday she was a little girl and now she was standing in front of me looking stunning in every dress she tried on - yes I cried. -
I've gone to class with Cheryl before and she IS a talker!!!
Isn't it so weird that those little kids get all grown up, and yet we are still so young (in our own eyes, anyway)!
-
Yikes, lie low and kick it before you get back to exercising, KB8!
-
Hiking above the fog line this weekend.
-
Badger...thinking of you. Haven't had to go thru any of this yet with my parents. Can't imaging how hard it is. (Hug)
KB...rest and get well. Lots of junk out there!
Heidi...beautiful. Oh how I want to live near the mountains someday!
Ruth...what a game!!
Well after the Bison game on Sat afternoon, I sat down on my couch and realized I needed a nap. Not usually one for napping but I had been up early making food for the big game. My nap ended up being 3 hrs long and turns out I had a fever, aches and chills. Fever finally broke last evening and was able to get up this morning. Took a sick day today to give myself one more day of rest.
I had a flu shot during chemo in Oct but my WBC's had been low(3.6) at my last appt with MO on Dec 29th. Need to call and find out if I can have radiation today. Or maybe not...really don't want to miss rads. Just want to get finished with my treatments.
Off to do some gentle yoga...so stiff from laying in bed for 40 hrs.

Castigame - did you find your tracker? if not, this might help, though not sure how many days your battery will last
https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/wearable-tech...
Badger - sorry to hear about your situation with your Mom. You are a good daughter!
Cheryl - no, that wasn't me who won the lottery - but I did buy a ticket, and won $4, so I doubled my money! Next time I see you I'll buy you a cup of coffee
So my cold turned into a real cold, and I spent bombogenesis or whatever that was called curled up on the couch next to the fire. We got 13 inches of snow here, but because I was sick hubby did all the snow removal (yay!). Then the temps dropped like crazy, when I woke up yesterday morning it was minus 6. Yesterday was my first day out of the house since I got sick - we went driving around to see if we could find slurpee waves, found one area where the ocean was slushy but not quite slurpee waves. Spent my hibernating days undecorating the house, yes it does look boring - we also got rid of our china hutch, so it looks especially bare, need to put some more things on the wall.
I know I am probably last in the fitbit step group, but it is supposed to finally warm up around here this week, and I'm feeling better, so pretty soon 10k steps will be my goal. I have been at least trying to get my 250 per hour, and Patoo, I also will march in place, or walk around the kitchen living room circuit. I did do classical stretch this morning. Also wasn't very hungry with my cold, so down 2.5 lbs - yay!
-
The flooring company showed up at 9:15 this morning and this time they have the right product! Floors are being laid as I write this! I love the color we chose and the house is going to look so much brighter. I'm supposed to make 3 stratas for quilting meeting tomorrow and they have assured me that I will have use of my kitchen mid-afternoon. Yippee!
Badger - I'm thinking so much about you and sending you a big hug. You are a wonderful daughter.
KB - hope you are starting to feel better today. You take care of yourself.
Heidi - what a gorgeous picture! I grew up in Vermont and loved the mountains. Now I live in florida. Ha! One extreme to the other, right?
Pat01 - you are really having awful weather this month. We have 2 daughters in Mass. and one in CT. One of the Mass. daughters said they got 20 inches of snow the other day. I have to be honest and tell you that I sure don't miss living up there. You take care of yourself and feel better. You are probably not the bottom on Fitbit. I did 9700 steps the other day but not much since then. I spent most of the weekend trying to get stuff done for quilting and cleaning up the kitchen. Now my Fitbit is in the bedroom and I can't get in there to get i

Wash your hands, drink fluids, eat oranges etc. etc. LOTS of nasty stuff out there. Last Wednesday my hairdresser cancelled my appointment because she was so sick, and when I went in for my rescheduled appointment this morning, she was there but still as sick as a dog. One of my good friends was out sick from school all last week, and when I went to get groceries after the haircut, she was at the pharmacy, in a face mask, getting medicine. So.....yikes!!!!!
Runnersmom, now we can focus on the Vikings! Hope you can get the radiation over with ASAP.
Beautiful picture, Heidi.
Pat, I don't want to get sick, but I DO want to lose the Christmas pounds!!!
Glad the right flooring came, Snickers. I need to replace all my upstairs carpets, which I am putting off because it will be so much work (we will need to paint first).........
Since it will be 33 this afternoon; I'm snatching the grandpuppies for a walk, Zumba and yoga tonight.
-
Yesterday, I only had about 6500 steps. I didn't make my goal yesterday, but I am bound and determined to make it today. I just have 2500 steps to go. Does anyone else feel like they have to get in those last steps when fitbit notifies the number of steps remaining? That really gets me going.
KB870, Pat01, and Runnermom - Hope you all feel better soon. That cold that is going around affects the sinuses. I had to go to the doctor to get antibiotics because it wasn't getting better. It cleared it right up (along with the Flonase nasal spray). Then, I got the flu shot.
Snickersmom - Glad you got your flooring done.
Patoo - Hope you had a great time playing pickleball.
Badger - I've been thinking about you a lot. Sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way.
As always, I'm loving all the beautiful pictures!
Stay safe & warm!
-
Temps up high-60s today so, yes, got in my pickleball for an hour. Still need 2000 steps to reach 10K and have some YouTube videos to watch so will march in front of TV while I watch.
You ladies under the weather, take care of yourself and don't overdo as that will just delay you getting back to normal.
Badger, still have you in my thoughts.
Start thinking about our getaway for 2018. Still thinking Nashville? If so, what time of year? Want to take a peep at available units. Let's get an idea, look at tentative schedules.
Night sculpted friends.
-
Pat, Runnermum, KB hope you feel better soon. Ruth, I'm also trying to avoid all the sickness going around. Oreo is so cute!
Heidi how gorgeous is that scene!
I have run out of gas after running errands after work but I did my HIIT stair climbing at work today for 15 minutes. I hope the stories are true that a HIIT workout is as good as a lower intensity longer workout.
-
Patoo, I vote for fall. Cooler, leaves changing colors etc. plus out of the hot, humid, busy summer tourist season. I just checked and October looks like the nicest month weather-wise. An average high of 77 in the beginning of the month and 67 by the end.
-
Patoo - I also think October would be a great time of year for Nashville. Whatever everyone else wants is fine with me, since I'm new to the group! Already looking forward to it!
-
Well, this just hasn't been my day for exercise! Had to stay in the house and out of the way pretty much all day because of the flooring being installed. I did run to the store and went up and down the aisles but came nowhere near any goal. So instead of beating myself up about it, I will just wait for a better day. They should be done with the floors by Wednesday or Thursday morning latest. We don't have the painters coming until Tuesday, so nothing will get put away. There is a fine layer of dust EVERYWHERE in the house now, so clean-up is definitely not going to be fun next week. But it will give me a good workout, I guess!
Goodnight all of my new good friends! Sleep well
-
Cardio Dance Party tonight - she did some old stuff, stuff that I used to find easy and now I'm all about the low options, ughhhh I hate this getting old stuff it makes me feel despondent when I remember what I used to be able to do and now I can't , no leaping as my knees were creaking - pity party for one!!!!
Heidi that is a stunning view. Pat you're on, and I hope you are feeling better very nasty way to drop a few pounds. I hope everyone who is feeling under the weather is taking it easy and resting, there is one heck of a bug going around, we have a city FB page and an ER nurse has been posting about how long the wait is and how they are just slammed with so many people coming in. -
Hello all-
Just found your thread and wanted to say hello. I start my radiation treatments today and want to stay motivated to keep moving, dancing and exercise. I do have a Fitbit so hopefully I can join your group (I sent you a message Ruth 😀)
I attend Pilates once a week and also a Tai Chi Chih class but have not yet returned to that. I am hoping that I won't feel too much fatigue from radiation. I know how important weight bearing exercise is especially since I will be taking an aromatase inhibitor after I finish radiation. For those of you taking those medications has it decreased your bone density or has exercised prevented that?
Happy to have found this group. I really want to stay active. I am 61 and live in New Jersey (Brrrrr lately) and I know how important exercise is to staying balanced as we face these challenges! And MAYBE it might help me sleep ?!?!?!?

Busy group of ladies! I always read but rarely post. If I get an opportunity to read all the post by the time I'm caught up on reading it's time to do something!
Welcome to towardshealth17! We have close to the same diagnosis but I take Tamoxifen. I have very few side effects. I have gained some weight but I don't feel like it was related to the Tamoxifen. Since I finished radiation in June I have had 3 sinus infections and antibiotics wreck my body! I also had cellulitis at the first of December so another round of strong antibiotics. This week I have felt more like myself (whatever that is!) I actually wanted to go to zumba last night and my DH said "don' push it l" bless his heart this has been a long ride for him to. I might get the most steps but I'm the least actI've exercise wise. I am 51 and have 6 grandchildren (11y/o -10 months) and a multiply handicap child so I'm always running around! I have high hopes to continue feeling good!
Everyone stay warm and keep the germs away! It's tough this time of year but even harder for those of us with compromised immune systems!
I still can not find out fitbi group! I can find all the public groups! Frustrating!
-
Well I had my first Radiation Treatment today. One down, 20 to go.
I have found the Fitbit group, Vargadoll, by logging onto Fitbit on my computer and clicking Activity Groups under the Community tab and then clicking the B and then Bc and scrolling down, but I don't see anyplace to request an invite. I did send a friend request to Ruth (ruthbru) so maybe I will get invited? I belong to lots of Fitbit groups but I don't think I have ever navigated the Activity groups before.
You ladies are inspiring with all you are up to!
-
Just back from my lunchtime yoga/pilates class, did a slow Yin Yoga practice last night...after being housebound by the snow and cold, happy to have a schedule this week that will let me get to four classes...two down, two to go!
After an actual low temp of 2 on Sunday morning!...making it up to near 50 right now...melt the snow!
