Falconer, I hope you feel better with your med change. I'm taking letrozole and I am finally not having so much pain. It's been 7 months ! I can now sleep almost thru the night, and I'm only a bit stiff when I start moving after sitting.
I survived the party. One of the cousins had BC a while ago, so she was very supportive. Too many of us out there!
-
Hi all. Well since I pointed Snickermom over this way I really should get back on more often myself. Hmmm, maybe if I put it on my calendar (like everything else) I'll really do it. We have learned here that if it's not on the calendar it ain't gonna happen! However, my main exercise these days will be finishing the unpacking of boxes and bins and getting minor work done on the house so probably won't have much to report this week either.
Night my sculptered friends.
-
Ruth, so sorry for your losses, especially so close together, and so close to the holidays.
My legs are screaming but I’m taking that as a sign that the knee strengthening exercises I learned last week are working. My toe is still too sore for prolonged walking, but I managed to clock almost 4k steps at the local agility meet (watching, not participating - am unfortunately between dogs right now). My friend and her dog got three clean runs and now qualify to compete in next year’s national championships! Later did 30min interval training on the exercise bike, some hand weights, and more knee stuff.
Welcome Dawn and Snickersmom! I hope you get as much inspiration from this group as I do. These lovely ladies have cured me of couch-potato-ness =D

Wonderland - Colonial, Williamsburg is SO beautiful!!! I remember we once took a family x-mas vacation there when I was 10...and it was magical...what an amazing place for your 11K steps!!!
2FUN - Yes...there are too many of us. This year, a very long time friend of my sister is coming to her annual Christmas Eve party and I'm looking forward to seeing her, as she's also had BC (Stage 3) and has been a big support to me....
Claire - Beautiful tree!! Well done!!! Now, get some rest!!! So many people have been getting so sick from whatever this virus is. My DD - who NEVER gets sick has been sick all weekend with a fever reaching 102.5.
Octogirl - I hope you had lots of fun at the party!!!
Snickersmom - Welcome!!!
Hellos to everyone else!!
As for me, still sore from Body Combat yesterday - but - sore in a good way because I feel like I really worked a lot of muscles that I don't normally work!!!
And, I did U-Jam today, but didn't like it as much, because it was a substitute instructor. And, lots of the regular people who come, were not there, so the room was sort of empty. Just wasn't the same and was just not high energy enough to really enjoy...and get enough of a workout...
OK better go!! I have to take care of a very sick almost 11-year-old - I just hope she gets well by her birthday and ice-skating performance - which is coming up in 6 days! Yikes!!!
Hugs to everyone!!!
-
Tessu - we must have been posting at the same time. That's great that your leg muscles feel like you really worked them...good for you!!! I need to do some specific knee strengthening exercises, myself, as I have chronically bad knees...
-
Welcome Snickersmom. Falconer, hats off to you for sticking with letrozole, as I could not and hope the switch will be better. Claire, hope you feel better quick and sweet tree.
Been up early drinking coffee, watching filming of #79. Yesterday afternoon at the gym practiced with friend who loved it and felt I was ready to deliver, so that is what I'm doing tonight. Off in a bit to Pink Ribbon Pilates, last class and we restart Jan 8th and new - added evening class on Jan 9th! We have little Pink Ribbon Christmas coffee gathering next week at a small cafe at local castle. The thing about living in England - particularly Kent, is that you always have a local castle, lol. Have a good start to the week everyone!
-
Welcome Dawn and Snickersmom! Snickersmom, you made me laugh with that comment about looking like your Mom - Sometimes I catch a glimpse of myself before getting into the shower and the resemblance is uncanny!
Classical stretch this morning, and now on to chores chores chores - Christmas is sneaking up on me and we expect a houseful of company. At least most of the decorating is done, knocked that off yesterday.
-
Ran laundry up and down two flights, wrapped Christmas present for Hubby and planning a workout tonight
-
Wish I could go to the gym tonight...DD needs to stay at home from gymnastics tonight - as she's still getting over the flu. Poor thing has been so sick all weekend!!
DH doing some volunteering thing with his friends - so I need to stay home after work to take care of DD tonight. (You'd think staying home with our DD would be more important than his volunteering thing). Oh well....Maybe I'll try to workout - at home...
-
6000 steps running errands around town. A bit of knee exercises and handweights at home. Good workout at SPS (Spiral Stabilization) class this evenng. You ladies are inspiting me to keep moving!
-
did 10 min elliptical then 10 min core work and weights.
-
LB: I wish i had a local castle in my town!
Scared: You're right, Williamsburg is beautiful at Christmas time. I like looking at the wreaths decorated with items from nature. Hope you dd feels better soon.
Walked over 10,000 steps today in Colonial Williamsburg. Came back to the resort and walked/ran on the treadmill. Here is the picture everyone has to take when you go to Williamsburg (it appears I'm giving the middle finger - it's the Peace sign):
-
Thank you for the welcomes & motivation! Yesterday my son & I took our dog on a walk. It was surprisingly warm (60ish) for Colorado in December (good & bad - it's beautiful but we need the moisture!). This morning was Cathe's ICE Metabolic Total Body.
-
They really worked me at PT today: lunges (yuck), more time on the bike, steps and leg lifts, and new stretches. Used the laser again...Time to relax by the fire....
-
Behave yourself, Wonderland!
I subbed today in 8th grade science (minerals.....yikes!), did Zumba & Yoga tonight.
-
Tessu, the SPS training you do, is it a group class? I looked it up and fascinating - very interested in the training. Wonderland, lol, terrific stocks photo! Last night delivered #79 and one of my regulars said it was bloody good! A few beats out on timing on a couple of tracks yet overall, a good start and they liked it.
Afternoon Pilates and then off to the hygienist for a cleaning.
Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate.
-
Yes, LilacBlue, it’s a group class. My pilates instructor (who is a physiotherapist) talked it up to me all summer, so I decided to try it last fall. The first few classes I felt WTF this isn’t exercise, but then something ”clicked” and my body ”umderstood” what it was supposed to do, an I’m a fan now. I have lots of degenerative stuff in neck (operated once) and back, also lost a lot of range of motion in both shoulders (from neck nerve pinch and also mastectomy). Pilates didn’t help those much, but this SPS really did — ROM pretty much normal now! I still do pilates and other classes but this is my mandatory one

Whelp... diagnosed three weeks ago, surgery for double mastectomy is tomorrow with reconstruction. Hoping that with a reduction, no expanders needed and it's a one and done. Fingers crossed, that said.. I've been invited to participate in a half marathon for next September. When did you all feel good enough to start working out again? I'll have to start with walking again as I hven't run in a long time.. Possible to start again in April? Thoughts
-
Shakes561 welcome and hope all goes well for a smooth, surgical recovery. Tessu, it reads and looks amazing so thanks for your honest appraisal and now more interested in the training. I don't see any dates up for 2018 UK yet (just had one two weeks ago - darn), so I've emailed them.
-
Went to a 75 minute yoga class at lunch time...after a week in New Orleans and 12 days away from any organized stretching/yoga I felt like I couldn't bend over fully until 20 minutes into the class! I'm already sore...but happy to have made it through it. Tomorrow is yin yoga, so hopefully the long poses will help work out the final kinks.
Shakes, of course ask your BS/PS, but I think 3 months post MX you should be able to start back with a formal exercise program...realizing that you need to build back to previous level. But immediately you should be able to walk, and use a walking program to get you ready to do more.
Happy Tuesday! TT
-
Welcome, Shakes!
It was 42 degrees, sunny, no wind, so I walked the park with a friend and 3. We are in a winter weather advisory tomorrow, so I'm glad I was able to take advantage of today. I went to Zumba tonight.
-
Evening, everyone. We had a snow day here (!) so I keep thinking that today's Sunday. We shoveled and played and the snow was perfect for building snowmen. By the time we finished it had turned into a slushy rain. I did thirty minutes of yoga later this afternoon
Claire, your tree looks lovely.
Welcome, Shakes. Hope all goes well with surgery and recovery.
I did also check out SPS- Lilac, I like following up on your recommendations, even though I think SPS came from Tessu? Anyway, it took me to a couple of different sites. The third on the list cracked me up- tinman.org or something- SPS stands for "stiff person syndrome". Ha! I can relate to that.
-
Hi Patoo! I made it here and I hope to share more in the future. I had an oncological massage yesterday. I went shopping and walked around. Proof that there was at least one cold day in Florida...
-
So cute, Falconer! So green, Heather!
The Walking Women wore 'ugly sweaters' for our walk this morning and brunched at the house of the lady holding the puppy. You really can't tell, but the creature in the front is a stuffed animal, a penguin who somehow became our mascot (I think he was a white elephant gift at our exchange one year). POUND and Yoga tonight.
-
Hi MexicoHeather, welcome to a great thread. It will motivate you (or keep you laughing at all of us trying!). A great group here.
I've been under the weather a little last three days but got out and played 3 games of pickleball today so at least some movement. Did get in my 10,000 steps just unpacking 'stuff' the last 2 days while having work done on the house.
Night sculpted friends.
-
Welcome Shakes! Best wishes for your speedy recovery.
Good to see all of the Christmas/winter fun!
My community rec center has a CancerFit class that I've been participating in. Yesterday was the last day of the 13-week class. I really enjoyed it & will probably sign up again for the next session in January. It's been mostly strength-based, and yesterday we did kettlebells. This morning was yoga which felt great on my sore muscles.
-
Well, I finally got up off my butt today and while it wasn't a very long walk, it was better than nothing! We went to visit a friend in the hospital and I made Jim park at the end of the parking lot so we could get in some steps. Then I hauled out the vacuum cleaner and vacuumed most of the house. I had wonderful intentions of taking a walk when I went to get the mail but it had cooled off by then, so I just walked down, got the mail and walked home. then walked back and forth putting all of my orchids back outside.Better than nothing! Tomorrow I have to take a good walk and get back into a routine.
-
Sorry you have been under the weather for the past few days and I hope you feel better soon.
-
hi all and welcome MexicoHeather and Shakes561. Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate!
Good to see you back here, patoo. Do you have a permanent address again? ;-)
60 mins @ gym tonight - 10 TM warm-up, 40 weights, 10 TM cool-down ==> 425 cal burned.
If you can, get outdoors tonight to see the Geminid meteor showers!

surprised myself by making it through the entire evening Kinesis class (after sleeping poorly and feeling groggy all day). Thought of this group and told myself, if they can keep moving, you can too!
