I logged in over 8K steps before noon today. Had to see 3 kiddos from the highschool and it took us 7 minutes each way to walk to the weight room, 3 students x 15 min walking up and down 3 flights of stairs x 5. Then to bodyflow(I think its called) OMG, it was so sad I almost started laughing out loud! I couldn't even lay comfortably on a stack of 5 yoga mats! The teacher was sweet. I just told her I was coming off a year of 4 surgeries, and that I was just going to do what I could and she was OK. Thank god I couldn;t see myself in the mirror!

90 mins @gym 2nite- 45 treadmill, 30 weights, 15 yoga stretch cool-down. No funky HR chart to share as the wireless was down (AGAIN grrr) but I worked up a sweat. 2FUN, you're like the princess and the pea LOL. ;-)
Thanks for the motivation to get up and go, ladies. I heard the VOICES .....
-
Pat, congratulations to you and DH! 2FUN, it is bodyflow, good for going and yes to doing what you can. We call it bodybalance over here and it's what brought me back to full upper mobility.
Attended the conference (enjoyed being off work), held at the Aston University campus and learned a bit. I like Birmingham. It has so much going for it and growing fast. Fairly hipster'ish and can see why it's become a draw for young professionals looking to buy or raise a family. HeidiHill, interesting lectures on all sorts. A nutritionist spoke of the need for vitamin D3 for the months of October to March, because most of the population of the UK is deficient in vitamin D - didn't know that. Peak bone density and importance of calcium, which depending on who in the bc world you talk to, is either ok or bad. This nutritionist claimed there was no scientific evidence of milk being strongly linked with breast and prostate cancer, contrary to (the late) Dr. Jane Plant whom I know women here follow her advice (no dairy for one). Interesting lecture on applying music in exercise and sport. Glad I attended and please to see the sun this morning as it was drizzly for most of my time in Birmingham. Son is doing better, it's freshers week and now feeling more connected to his department, and those in his dorm. He is quite shy and well out of his comfort zone with all of this socializing, yet getting better at it, at least I'd like to think so, as I'm not calling - trying to let him find his way without interfering. This is letting go with love..I guess.
Pilates x2 & body balance tonight.

Exercise for yesterday was mowing the lawn, and delivering meals on wheels. The food truck delivered 1 hour late! But not one of my clients were grumpy about their late lunch. Off this morning to continue working on cleaning out our late friends house, then hopefully a bike ride to the beach this afternoon.
-
Pat, clever way to make a baby announcement. Congrats. 2FUN, funny that five-mat Bodyflow. You will eventually get down to one. Octo, congrats on surviving the stress test. Drink lots of warm fluids in case your resistance goes down. I was sick the day after a stress test. LB, thanks for the recap. Dr. Plant never made sense to me. Yes, Vitamin D is essential. I already feel a big difference now that the sun is moving away from our latitude. Have to get with my D program. Or go south. As for calcium, you need Vitamin D to absorb it and Vitamin K to get it into your bones and out of your blood vessels blocking blood flow.
Yesterday was cardio kickboxing and salsa even though I was hurting a lot from yoga the day before.

Walking Women in the park. The sky looks gray because of all the forest fires in Montana.

60 minute extreme circuit class tonight and already in bed

Hi Everybody. Just a quick note. Had a meeting this evening that I knew would be stressful and was thinking about it all day. So I walked/ran in the early afternoon to burn off some anxiety to help me get through the meeting. It worked!
-
Got through the entire Kinesis class yesterday, also did not reset all the resistances to minimum. Instructor gave me a high-five
Holy cow I'm sore this morning!
-
HeidiHill, two women in Pink Pilates religiously follow Dr. Plant's recommendations, one a stage 2 the other IV. Plant made a huge impact in the UK bc community. I heard her once on radio 4, excellent speaker, also long time professor of geochemistry at Imperial College London, so high credibility and as one follower pointed out, she lasted 18 years with stage IV. Bringing this discussion down to zero, as I could give up all dairy but ice cream, I love, love, LOVE ice cream. Wonderland, terrific stress relief and hope the meeting results were as you hoped. Tessu, I'm so interested in hearing about your Kinesis class. At a spa I teach at, in the gym, they have one K training machine (Technogym) and rarely is it used. Nice WWW photos Ruth. I must now go and do housework - ugh.
BodyBalance early evening
-
Ran 3 miles and did weights at the gym after work yesterday. Tired today so will take a day off or do a short walk. Have a great day all!
-
realized when I work at the high school I walk 3 miles and do 45 min of yoga and other exercise before 10 am! my hip pain is almost gone, so it's either the body flow or the co q enzyne 10. wI'll do gentle yoga tonight. I think.body flow was too much for me to do well, but I'll do it once a week just to see if I can keep up as I get stronger.

Senior exercise class done :

Ruth, smoke haze looks horrible. With the hurricane the news hasn't focused much on the wildfires out west.
DH and I rode our bikes to the beach yesterday, and then had a lite dinner outside at a waterfront restaurant. It was a beautiful evening to watch the waves. We negated all our burned calories by stopping for ice cream on the way home, but it was so yummy! Got back to the start of the bike trail just as the sun was setting. Did some classical stretch this morning (boy am I stiff), and hope to get a walk in later. My fitbit band broke, so I feel like all exercise done doesn't count! Ordered a new one online, should be here tomorrow.
-
Pat.......
-
45 minutes of toning with Denise Austin, I'm thinking of taking the doggies for a walk later this afternoon.
-
I love Mr Fitbit...totally get that cartoon. 6 days post-op from exchange, have hit my fitbit numbers 5 of 6 days...feeling pretty good about that but sidelined from all other activity until early/mid-October...plan to start back with some Yin Yoga and Basic Yoga classes, can't wait. Still very swollen and bruised, so walking I do.
-
lol Ruth, last week in yoga class my teacher said that ppl don't like yoga classes anymore because they don't count on the Fitbit. 😂 She's a very tongue in cheek yoga instructor I should add!
Ginger, how are you feeling? -
trimtab, glad u r feeling good.
-
Nice pics, Ruth, though the haze is not good. Hope it dissipates soon.
That cartoon is so funny. I have had second thoughts about biking for the same reason. But biking gets me to where I want to go faster. Also the Fitbit doesnt count salsa or tango as active minutes, but at least it counts the steps although not the turns. Pat, you can put the Fitbit in your pocket until you get the band.
Tessu, Kinesis is a great workout. We used to have the machines at my gym but no longer. Sigh. They use the space for Grit instead which they charge extra for.
Two hours of tango.
-
Heidi, sorry Mr. Fitbit doesn't calculate for your efforts of Tango...totally get it, I will finish a 75 minute vinyasa flow, be sweaty, elevated heart rate, truly exercising and fitbit will say I didn't get my 250 steps for that hour as if I was sitting at my desk! I know I did something good for me....just have to remember that.
My town does a fundraiser "dancing with the local stars" ....sounds like you are ready!
-
Haha Ruth - that's funny! Still waiting on my band. Heidihill I will try putting it in my pocket, just afraid I might lose it. I agree that with you all that some exercise just doesn't get recorded on the fitbit. Sometimes it seems to know I'm riding a bike, but others not. And mowing the lawn doesn't get counted either. But again I remind myself that a 20 mile bike ride or 45 minute lawn mow is exercise, even if the fitbit doesn't think so!
Didn't get a walk in yesterday, but did accomplish a lot both inside and outside the house, tackling the pile of "to do" things I've been putting off most of the summer. Did some classical stretch this morning, still very inflexible from lack of exercise, so I need to keep at it every day. Off in a bit to get started with organizing a yard sale of my deceased friends remaining possessions. The house was sold, so we are having a yard sale October 7 to move the rest of his things, household goods, furniture, etc. What is left we will just donate or trash/recycle.
-
hahah, I can relate to that cartoon, too
I'm not sure how fitbit tracks exercise. We went cycling last weekend and I was surprised that it recorded it as Outdoor Cycling. I do weight training which is moderate intensity and it doesn't record anything, but every time I do a HIIT session it shows as Sport. It does recognize running as well, it has something to do with intensity and type of motion I think
-
No exercise yesterday, got very nauseous and had to leave work early. Not a great night and I'm home today. I think it was something one of the girls brought home from school or something I ate. Doubt it has anything to do with Herceptin as this was my 3rd Herceptin only infusion and I had 12 w/Taxol before that with no nausea/vomiting. I'll take another rest day today on the couch with Netflix. Hoping to be back to it Saturday.
Ruth, I hope that haze is gone soon. Pat, I hated days when I left the house without my Fitbit, definitely felt like I needed a way to make the steps count somewhere. Heidi, it's so weird what the Fitbit will and won't count. Some days sitting at my desk, I'd get notified I'd climbed so many flights of steps. It was counting the multiple times a day I'd get frustrated and runmy fingers through my hair. TrmTab glad you are feeling well. You'll be back to everything you want to do before you know it.
-
I'm in the middle of a couple different projects so just exercised at home today. A 30 minute Dance DVD & 45 minute pilate DVD. A cold front came through, with wind and rain which has cleared the air here. Hopefully Montana is getting some of the same. Back to work for me!
-
Someone here once racked up huge # of "steps" when making mega-batches of holiday cookies. Apparently, the Fitbit counted stirring as running LOL.
60 mins gym last night and will go tomorrow. 2nite supper with mom & took her to WalMart. We walked slowly but bless her heart, we walked. The cart helps as her balance isn't the best but she doesn't need a scooter. She's motivated because she gave up driving her first winter here and I have her car. Am I wrong to exploit an 87-YO's love of shopping and lack of transportation to get her moving?
Ruth, love the sparkly new avatar pic.
Chris, how's your tummy? Better I hope.
-
The wonders of photo editing!
Badger, anything that gets anyone moving is a GOOD thing!!!! I exploit my love of food to get ME moving!
Today I cleaned the whole entire house, put up some fall decorations and have been beading buttons through wires all night....my artsy friend over- extended herself by agreeing to make about a million of her button bouquets as centerpieces for a banquet, so some of us are helping her put them together. Crafts are not at all my thing.....Wonderland, come help me!!!!
-
I'm having a hard time getting exercise classes to fit in with my work schedule. Doesn't help that my work schedule keeps changing!
