Great job, everyone! TH, Northern Sun may swap you for a M if the S is too small.
It got nice yesterday afternoon so settled for yoga at home and a nice long walk instead of the gym.
However, hit the gym 2nite. 75 min- 40 treadmill, 30 weights, and 5 foam roller. ==> 508 cal burned
6-month follow-up with onc tomorrow afternoon. Curious to see what his scale says.

Heidi I'm always the oldest in my classes, and I usually feel great but yesterday my friend filmed his Sprint assessment video and I saw myself on the bike ughhhh it's enough to make me give up, I looked like a beached whale, then tonight my friend tells me someone who was also at the filming told him how fantastic I was - I have ups and downs at the moment.
2Fun you should see me in Body Flow, I can only get up off the floor if I kneel on my left knee and push myself up with my right foot, in the sun salutations I am always lagging behind.
Badger a lot of the gyms I go to have the screens now and when they had the Les Mills programs on them I would go in and dance on my own, I didn't care at all, unfortunately they changed vendors and now they're hardly used at all.
TH hope your eye has healed and Chris hope you are feeling better.
LB I could just live solely on dairy, my system is so weird that if I'm nauseous milk will settle my stomach. I leave for the U.K. in 2-1/2 weeks, we are flying into London but going straight up north for the first week, I'll let you know when we are coming to London/Kent so I can come to a class with you.
Have been keeping up,with my classes, did one called Athletic Training Club tonight but dang if I didn't hurt my back doing the dreaded burpees.
-
Ruth, I need that reset yoga to go to bed. It is getting harder and harder to fall asleep at night. Maybe I need to be outdoors more. Wonderland, nice weekend camp. Great trail, Falconer. Mommy, what fun to combine history with walking at Old Sturbridge. KB, canoeing sounds wonderful. Good luck on the Team Challenge.
Brutersmom, way to add muscle (or bone?). TH, I remember hiring a personal trainer after I finished with rads and I told him my goal was to be able to take a rowing course. I did take the course 6 months later and it was absolutely no problem except for having difficulty getting off the boat when my knees were so stiff. Cdv, hope you get the OK to go to Livestrong.
LB and Cheryl, post pics of the class. Wish I could come to but expecting a guest from Hong Kong.
Doing a lot of YouTube exercise vids in Spanish. I will know all the body parts by the end of the month.

No exercise Fri/Sat, but got to Pilates Sunday, then SPS (back class) plus a walk with my neighbor and her sog yesterday after a long morning at the hospital for scads of tesys for my Friday 2-yr bc checkup. Between walking all over the hospital then the not very long evening walk, was surprised to see 6,500 steps on my app (much much better than lately). Just got back from this morning's Senior Exercise class. Wishing everybody here a happy day

coming here to crab about my AI SE'S that are limiting my exercise. I'm 2 months post exchange and I'm not as far along as I want to be. I'm finding that I have one or two better days, and then the other SE'S come around. Bad hot flashes. Reflux, lymphedema, and UTIS ( even with prophylactic antibiotics). It's been quite warm, and the schools I work in have no A/C. Hard to get the kids to move , but I have to.keep being perky and positive and encouraging even when I don't feel like it. I've gained back all I lost during this last year of 4 surgeries. Bummer. I am still getting close to 10K steps during the day
I would appreciate any recommendations for online exercise videos I can do at home, b/c the ymca schedule is not going to work, and I need someone to force me to keep going when I am tired!
Thanks for letting me crab....it's bad enough that I can't do my life because of cancer meds, but this is my work, and I need to be able to keep going. PT is not a desk job !

I have been keeping up, but have been too brain dead to comment recently. We just had someone leave the nonprofit so all the associated drama and reassignment of duties and changing systems online. Know more than a few tricks, I didn't know a few short weeks ago. Plus, I had two major deadlines with my consulting work. I can't believe that I survived this.
Not to mention my clients being thrilled with my work which is why I continue to get projects.
I have a brand new mobile as I awoke on Saturday to my old one being dead and hot - not a good thing. So off to Sprint for the latest, which is super-slick. Have it mostly set up now. In doing that, I fixed a vexing problem in my email when I installed Outlook for Android.
Amazingly, I did get in two great rides over the weekend, one after I was done with the mobile upgrade. Caught the last real day of summer, as quite autumnal here now. We finally have rain!!! Everyone was celebrating yesterday, and the plants look extremely happy. Back to being the "Emerald City"!
My exercise routine is boring, but effective, and it's very cheap to use an exercise ball and free weights. I bought mine years ago. Now, cycling is a different story, and I spend good money on cycling and skiing. Need to find a new rain jacket as mine is stained and faded.
I view exercise as an investment, quite similar to "pay yourself first" with saving money. In fact, I think it translates to $$$$ as I don't believe I would be able to accomplish everything I do, if I didn't exercise to keep my brain in tip-top shape and have the stamina for those long hauls.
Have a great day. I will let you know how Sunday's Kitsap Color Classic goes. I love that ride which takes me into the middle of the Puget Sound, and hopefully, we will have fine weather along with clean air. A fitting end to a wonderful season. - Claire

2FUN, I was teaching (I am a teacher who never sits down either) and it was fall in an un-air-conditioned building when I first started Arimidex and was having hot flashes. I had fans all over my room (bought by me, of course) and a tower fan on my desk. Every once and awhile I would 'need to check something on my desk' when I actually needed to stand next to the fan. I wore as light of clothes as I could and layers. I bought jackets, sweaters etc. that were open (not pull overs) so I could put them on/take them off/put them on/take them off easier, also if you freeze a bottle of water and roll your wrists over it, that will cool off your whole body. You can use a cold can of soda or whatever if you forget your water bottle. Keep moving, keep moving, keep moving is the best way to deal with the aches. What type of exercises on video are you looking for? When I worked, I could never fit in classes, so I have tons of them.
Congratulations on your weight loss, Bruthersmom! I am going on vacation soon and would like to drop a couple pounds but I bought a loaf of the most delicious multi-grain bread and can't seem to just eat one piece....sigh.....
Cheryl, a good way not to injure yourself doing burpees, is to NOT do them! In one of the Zumba songs, the teacher (for some odd reason) has added a couple of them, and I just dance around while others hit the floor.
Heidi, yes, you would love reset yoga. I will definitely be going back to that one.
Tessu, I love pilates & have several good pilates DVD, but hope they add a class at our new community fitness center; as I'd rather go to a class than do it on my own.
Just a thought for working people who love classes but can rarely fit them into their schedules. If you can find a gym/workout center that the classes are part of the overall fee (instead of paying for them separately), that works out nicely so when you have a day off, or a meeting is cancelled, or whatever, you can just sneak it in. Or if you can find a class that uses punch cards that never expire, that works out good too. (Of course, that means you have to work out on your own the rest of the time, or you won't survive the class!).

hi all, just back from the onc. Doing well yay. Follow-up app't in six months.
I always weigh more at the doc office than I do at home, but I also don't take off all my clothes LOL.
He says if I'm not going to take Fosamax I must hit the gym every day, missing no more than once a week (Fridays with mom will be my day off), and lift weights at least three times a week but give myself a day in between to let my muscles recover. Vary the routine as the body will adjust and make it fun or else I won't keep it up. I told him it was fun to be the oldest one there and still kickin' it. That got a smile.
zogo, if you are still reading here, I asked about vitamin K. He recommended against it, quite strongly in fact. I take one daily tab of calcium (600 mg) + D (800 IU) which is sufficient, and should just eat a healthy diet. Follow-up DEXA scan in another year.
2FUN, when I was two months post-surgery, I didn't do much exercise other than walk. At the time, that was all I could manage and it was enough. I think you are doing great to get close to 10,000 steps a day!
Cheryl, I always hated doing squat-thrusts, the old-fashioned name for burpees.
Going to grab something to eat then hit the gym per doc's orders. Now there's motivation. I wonder if my health insurance would cover my gym membership if he actually prescribed exercise? My employer used to have a wellness incentive where you could get a $100 reward toward anything healthful (gym memberships and CSA boxes were the most popular among my peeps) but have changed that so you need to give them your biometric info. Thanks but no thanks. They do not need access to my medical records!

ruthbru I made it through vacation with out gaining a pound. I will admit I was tired at the end of the day. Have any of you read Wheat Belly?
-
Brutersmom, I have read Wheat Belly under a different name: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight. I also have the cookbook. Are you going wheat-free?
60 mins gym 2nite, all treadmill. ==> 417 cal burned.
-
Your charts always look good Badger!
Push mowed for 90 minutes today. Hot and sweaty! Also walked/ran at the park.
-
swam today....then met with knee doc in prep for my knee replacement surgery...both weight and blood pressure were higher than at home :-(
Walking has become almost impossible but the surgery is only a little more than a month away. can't wait!
-
Took an abbreviated walk (abbreviated because the skies turned black, the wind started to blow, lightening filled the air and rain began to pour down) and went to yoga.
-
Sprint class tonight but I must have done something wrong as both my quads and calves were cramping, maybe I didn't drink enough water throuout the day - bottom line it was 30 minutes and I was glad when it was over, then I walked a mile at Costco. I am going to a funeral in Thursday, the mother of a friend and the viewing is tomorrow night, I went to order flowers and my gosh they wanted almost $100, for a small bouquet, I am not a cheapskate but I found that outrageous so tonight I went to Costco and got almost 50 roses for $35 and I will make my own bouquet and take to the viewing.
Badger last night the instructor finished off the class with this exercise, which I didn't do cause well there is just no way. He laid flat on the floor, put a 10# weight in his right hand and raised his arm up, then he put his right foot behind his left and the stood straight up, then back down and back up and he made the class do it for 90 seconds, I just stood there laughing, burpees didn't see too bad after seeing that
-
30 minute workout last night.
-
Here's the WWW walking past the baseball diamonds. We are wearing blue in honor of our local high school's homecoming, which is this week. The lady in the multi-colored boa is celebrating a birthday. The lady in front with the blue boa, surrounded by grandchildren, is being inducted into the high school's Coaches & Athletes Hall of Fame (a long time swim coach, still does judging at the national level), has gone (as a spectator) to several Olympics to watch the swimming.
-
It's Wednesday, love the pic Ruth!
-
octogirl I wish you didn't have to wait so long for your surgery Glad that you can at least enjoy swimming. I think everybody's blood pressure is a bit higher at the doctor's office -- mine and my husband's always are.
Great photo ruthbru!
I just came back from Kinesis class. A new move was added that surprisingly proved I've gotten back almost all of the extension range of motion in both my shoulders --- last spring on my back I couldn't lower my hands and arms anywhere near the floor --- but now I can! I think it's from the SPS and some of the Kinesis moves. I know it sounds minor, but to me this is HUGE! Celebrating with pizza for dinner because I deserve it

Good Job, Tessu!

Whew! Just spent the last half hour catching up from the last time I posted. Looks like everybody is keeping busy.
Our community opened a new fitness center last week – it's beautiful. Our old fitness center was in a dungeon like room with just a few machines. This new center has windows all around and all kinds of new machines. I've made an appointment with one of the trainers for tomorrow for an hour long orientation/training session to learn about the new equipment. Other than that I've been pretty good about keeping up with my fitness classes and my running. I was able to run outside get out for a few days last week when the weather cooled, but that heat has returned so I'm back on the dreadmill for now. Can't wait for some cooler fall weather.
Ran the Ovarian Cancer 5K last Sunday for the 7th year. I started running on a co-worker's team who was dx Stage IV from the get go. She died last year, but her husband has kept the team going in her memory. This yearit was even more personal since my SIL was diagnosed in July. She's had her surgery and has started chemo. She's doing a new dose dense protocol of weekly chemo and has had two of 18 treatments. She has an excellent support system of family, friends, and her church so I'm glad she's in good hands.
It's our 35th anniversary next Monday so to celebrate we're heading to Williamsburg for a few days then on to Charlottesville for a few more days, so I expect to get lots of steps in.
I'm heartsick about all of the hurricane damage. I've been fortunate enough to spend time in so many of the places that have been damaged, including the Keys and several of the Caribbean Islands that have been hit. Dominica was a special favorite, and the early pictures coming out of there have broken my heart.
-
Cheryl, I agree, burpees don't seem so bad after that exercise you described. It sounds impossible!
Been very busy getting my late friends house ready for the new owner. My exercise has been hauling leaves, cleaning sheds, going through cabinet after cabinet getting trash sorted from treasure. The house sold in one day(!) and his sister is going on a previously planned well deserved 10 day vacation. We were going to wait until she returned to do the yard sale, but a wise friend of mine pointed out to me how difficult it must be for her to let all of his things go. So I asked her if we could do the yard sale while she was on vacation, and she immediately and thankfully agreed. My wise friend is very wise indeed! But so much work - good thing my DH and I are retired, as well as another good friend. The 3 of us have been working all week. This weekend some of my still employed friends are coming to help me price and stage things.
-
Nats congrats on your upcoming anniversary. Our 25th is next year. So glad you and others are there for your SIL. Healing prayers to her.
The heat has returned to HotLanta as well so I too am stuck with the dreadmill. I'm glad I have dd to bug me into going with her even when I'm tired.
Scottie
-
Pat, you are a very good friend!
Whoo Hoo, the Fitbit people just informed me that I have earned the 'Nile River Badge'. Apparently I have walked 4,132 miles, the length of the Nile, which is longest river in the world. No wonder I am tired!!!!!
My Book Club meets at my house tonight so I have been cleaning, baking, arranging etc. I am trying a new recipe I found on the Internet, "Pumpkin Crunch Cake". I hope it tastes okay.....otherwise I will have to ply them with extra wine!
-
Planning on working out tomorrow night.
-
70 mins @gym 2nite - 20 TM warm-up, 45 weights, 5 foam roller ==> 402 cal burned.
Was in a small group "team training" and we did burpees using a 24" plyometric box instead of dropping down all the way to the floor (TG!). I got a case of the giggles, thinking of you ladies while doing the dang burpees.
-
one hour of gentle yoga, I could have sworn it was "active" yoga.
-
This doesn't have anything to do with exercise, but is too good not to share:
-
Congrats on the 5K, natsfan. I am sorry for your SIL but glad she has great support as it does make a big difference. Advanced anniversary greetings.
You are an angel, Pat.
Heartbreaking indeed to read about all the calamities, most recently, the ones in Mexico.
Cheryl, that move is called a Turkish get-up in the kettlebell world. Never tried it myself. Maybe next week. Will be doing burpees today instead as part of a HIIT step workout. But first I have to buy the step thingie as I am in the mood for a new exercise toy. Also hoping DD will use it at home as she has let her gym membership lapse.
-
had to laugh Ruth. I was wearing my lemon yellow cotton voile (tissue weight ) blouse, and DH told me I looked like a hipster.
-
Went to the gym today. Amazed I got there because my schedule kept changing. I did 30 minutes weights really beginning to increase the # of pounds and 15 on the elliptical. Trying to pick up the pace there. I use the lose it app on my phone to record what I eat. It keeps me focused. I put on a skirt today that always felt a little tight and it seemed a little loose today. Either the elastic is giving out or the trainer is correct and my waist line is shrinking. According to the tape measure my waist line is shrinking.
Everyone keep up the good work.
