Hi again,
Lucky to have the day off due to power outage. Took my DH on a walk around the block- that's 3 miles in these parts. Good for you tessu, to hit your xc ski goal.
Pat- I love all of the symbolism in your gestures. Saying goodbye to the past, though it does seem good that you held onto it as long as you did- able to pass on kind words to your niece. Especially now when she needs it. ❤️️
-
So great to see all the newbies. Welcome to the best thread on BCO!
Wow - you NY and NE gals are getting slammed with storms. Stay safe. Pat - I love the symbolic burning of the old medical stuff. And what a good idea to forward that note to your niece - it's as if her mom left a message to give her encouragement in her time of need. Lilac - glad that your DH is recovering and looking better. Tessu - congrats on almost finishing the skiing goal! I had a weird goal - somehow during chemo I got obsessed with the idea that after chemo, I'd take a tap dancing class. I don't know why my chemobrain fastened on that as being important, but I hung onto that goal like a lifeline during chemo. A year later, I finally was able to take that tap class. Unfortunately it turns out that tap dancing is not good for someone who has difficulty telling the right foot from the left! But I stuck it out and finished the class to keep that silly promise to myself. But needless to say I haven't rushed to take another one since then.
Strength training/flexibility class today.
Here's a pic of today's bird at the suet. This is the first year we've had bluebirds and I love seeing them.

Welcome to all the newbies!
I have everything from Dx including all my mammos that I had before D. They are sitting on a closet shelf out of the way. Also have all my labs and noes. Even after 11 years can't bring myself to throw it away, though I never look at it!!!
This morning I put my Fitbit battery in the charger when I got a shower. Totally forgot I did it and put on an empty band. Didn't realize I did that till I got home and wondered why it didn't record any of my steps!!! Figured it out when I went to try charging the battery in the charger and see the battery there! So now my average will be way off. I know I'm close to 10K because I walked the hood before and after work but it only shows 94 steps.
Time to go make dinner. Home made pizza, dough is already done. Hope to be back later
-
Welcome gently, a walking plan is great because you can always walk; inside or out, fast or slow.....it all counts! After surgery, when I was babying my upper body, I started doing a lot more abs and lower body work (I have a ton of fitness DVDs). To my complete surprise, I lost a pant size; which was certainly a silver lining!
Pretty bird, Mary!
I finally did throw some of the 'cancer pamphlets' etc. away, and moved the wig from the upstairs closet to the downstairs closet. I should go through again & get rid of more. It creeps me out SO much to even look through it.
I hate when I forget to put on my Fitbit. I feel like the day didn't even 'count'. Ha!
I went to yoga this morning, took the grand dog for a quick walk & did a short Zumba routine on Utube. Our water heater went out over the weekend, so I am glad to report that it was fixed today & I'm now off to take a nice, long shower. (I was heating pots of water and pouring it into the tub for a shallow, not very fun bathing experience!)
-
Zumba on Youtube, of course, why didn't I think of that? I wonder if I can figure out how to get that up on the TV.
Thank you for the encouragement. A few lifetimes ago I was very active & fit, so it will be nice to recover some of those feelings.
-
Welcome gently!
Pat: your niece will love receiving that letter.
Mary: beautiful picture!
Lilac: glad your husband is feeling and looking better.
Ruth: I know you're happy to have a hot water heater again!
Another beautiful day. Walked/ran this afternoon
-
What a pretty bird Nats. LB hoping your dh has a speedy recovery.
Gentle, I'm right there with you. I just learned last Friday that I need more surgery due to problems with my implants. I have vowed to get as much strength back as possible between now and early July when I have the surgery. I am hoping that afterwards I can go back to weight lifting, at least slowly. Right now I'm focusing on walking and hiking. Hoping to add swimming as it warms up.
Walked today at work.

Have one AM ski left and then my splendid getaway will be over. I got new skis today. Total will be in the 28 mile range for 4 days of skiing. Glorious snow, moonlight, sunshine, and did I mention SNOW??? Drive back will be clear, so thrilled for that.
New skis are great on the downhills, so thrilled for that bonus. Should make everything tons more fun.
I think I know the location of ALL my body parts. Pictures once I get them transferred from my mobile. Right now, I don't have service. I did get one splendid shot of the moonlit hills last night. Just magical.
Staying in tonight at the B&B. I got salad and wine to have with the leftover beef from last night's dinner. Will stop at the local butcher before heading back. I already visited the winery (Lost River). Wonderful dinners ahead.... - Claire

hi all and welcome gently. I started a walking program soon after recovering from BMX. Have now logged more than 6,000 miles! I keep track in my signature line (see below).
Really nice yesterday, 45 and sunny. Lured me out for a noontime walk which ended in my beloved state Capitol. I'm back downtown and so glad to be able to enjoy this beautiful building. Logged 3.4 miles for the day.
Happy Valentine's day everyone. It's my 20th wedding anniversary! ♥
-
Met up with a friend and did a HARD 75 minute toning workout in the Fitness on Demand room.
Happy Anniversary, Badger! And Happy Valentines Day to all my Sculpted Sisters
-
Happy Anniversary, Badger!! May you have many many more happy years. Scottie - so sorry about the needed surgery, but I think you're smart to get in as good a shape as possible before surgery to help speed your recovery. Congrats on the new skis, Claire!
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! And for my baseball buddies, Happy Pitchers-and-Catchers-Report-to-Spring-Training Day! I'm setting the table now for our Valentine's dinner, and thought it would be fun to celebrate both occasions. I'm using a Nats giveaway throw blanket for a tablecloth, and some Nats rally towels from the playoffs as place mats. The Nats color is red, so everything looks Valentine-y and baseball-y. I thought about serving the champagne in our Nats beer mugs, but I thought that might be a little much.
-
NatsFan, I am a huge Phillies fan. I've been to the Nats stadium to see them play a couple of times. I too was celebrating pitchers and catchers reporting yesterday. Gonna be a long time before Phillies fans have much to celebrate, but getting younger players that are hungry is gonna be fun to watch this year.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Not too much to claim exercise wise, but I am walking to dinner and back tonight, which will be about 3 miles total.
-
Happy Valentines Day! My DH and I used the workout room at work together this afternoon. Woo hoo. Then we drove to the pharmacy and picked up my Aromasin! Um, yeah, not so sexy
Badger, hope you had a happy anniversary! Here's to 20 more years!
-
Happy Anniversary Badger!
Mary: Love your Valentine's Day dinner theme.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I walked/ran this afternoon and then came home and fixed a special Valentine's dinner
-
Thanks everyone, it was a very happy anniversary. ♥
Walked at noon yesterday, logged 3.6 miles for the day.
-
Happy anniversary badger and sounded terrific! Scottie, take good care and hope this does the trick.
Tai Chi this morning, pilates this afternoon and body balance tonight.
-
Did a Valentine's Day walk with the Wednesday Women (we are trying to make hearts). DH & I celebrated yesterday by getting a new water heater install (which doesn't sound very romantic until you've spent a long weekend with no hot water!).
-
Hi Scottie, thanks for the welcome. I'm sorry to hear about complications. I know you didn't ask for that. Getting back to regular exercise is a weird backwards trip for me - - my mind remembers the days when I wouldn't dream of missing a hike, walk, run or (often and) dance class. That was 2 kids and many crises ago, so my body is like, what? That's crazy. Just sit down and feel your tiredness. But the rest of me is like, what? YOU'RE crazy. Put the darn shoes on your feet and go for a walk.
All y'all are helping push the argument toward actual shoes on feet walking.
-
Get going, gently
-
Yesterday was 45 minute body sculpt and 30 minutes on the treadmill. Lots of lower body in body sculpt so no woggjng on the treadmill. I tried but my legs were just not cooperating 😦
-
Got too much snow here. Since I got lymphedema, DH does our shoveling and snow blowing. I have not offered to take it back up.
Happy Anniversary, Badger!
Great picture of the walkers, Ruth.
Welcome, Gently. This is a great place to come for inspiration. I think getting into a regular walking routine is a great idea. Zumba is fun too.
Pat-sending that note to your niece is brilliant. I am sure she will appreciate it.
I did Zumba on Monday. Did no exercise yesterday due to my school basketball team making it to the Championship (and winning)! Today, my workout was using scooters with my preschoolers. Great arm workout.
-
Chilly so walked inside the Capitol at noon. Legislature in session so was a busy place.
Otherwise, dug into a project most of the day. Logged 2.7 miles walked.
Looking forward to the warmer weather headed this way from the West!
-
V-day celebrations of new hot water heaters and aromasin pick-ups!
Northeasterners sorry for all the snow but it does make a good workout.
Beautiful little bluebird, Mary. They are a favorite of mine.
Gently I use the Xbox to watch youtube on the TV. This way I can do yoga or salsa dancing if I want.
Today was yin yoga class at the yoga studio.
-
A friend of mine invited me to go with her to her yoga studio, so I did. It was okay (I don't like it as much as my old classes, but need something to fill in for now). I bought a 10 session punch card to make myself go back for sure!
-
Yesterday hubby and I did cliff walk in Newport - not all of it, still very icy in places, so not so much fun, and then it started to rain. But we did do about 5 miles total, and rewarded ourselves with lunch. Only did my morning stretch routine once this week, as my back has been acting up. Probably acting up because I haven't been doing stretch! It's a vicious cycle I need to get out of. Violin lesson this afternoon, then tonight we are going to a charity comedy fundraiser.
-
We were in Newport two falls ago; yes, I think the cliff walk would be a lot more fun if it weren't icy! Yikes!
My friend and I did Fitness on Demand again today. A cardio dance routine (the perky instructor was rather annoying) and a good abs one (with an instructor who had Cheryl's Australian accent). It's nice again here so some of our ice is happily melting.
-
Ruthbru, Yes! I found a support center around here that offers some exercise classes - the kind I would have soffed at affectionately 20 years ago, but now they look like a good place to hang out. Walking tomorrow, rain (likely) or shine (doubtful).
-

Another record high in Denver today, 75! It was gorgeous out. Good walking day.
My calendar is fairly free tomorrow, which is good because my house needs a good cleaning. We are invited out for Shabbat dinner, so I don't need to cook, but I'll cook for next Shabbat. I bringing cookies, even though I have in the freezer I'll bake a fresh batch.
I leave Monday (till Friday) for San Antonio for the annual national school psych conference (NASP). That is why I'll cook tomorrow for next week. Sunday we have an evening wedding. Keep thinking I'm going to forget to do something. I best make a list of what is happening as well as what to pack.
My younger daughter is running a 10K next month in the Jerusalem marathon. She is raising money for an inclusion program for special needs teenagers and adults. She had to raise $613 and met the goal today (with a little help from Mom and Dad. She also donated on top of the registration fee. DD is going to continue to fund raise for the next month till the marathon on March 17.

Happy belated anniversary Badger. Has been a rough week for me, on Monday there was an accident and my Rooney broke his hip, rushed him to the vet and she didn't think he'd survive the surgery so I had to euthanize him, I am so heartbroken as the accident was my fault as I left my warehouse roll up door up and took my eyes off him for 2 minutes, he was sitting in the sun and a truck drove in and the back tire hit him - he bit me when I picked him up to get him into the car so then I had to go get stitches in my hand get a tetanus shot (even though mine was up to date) well they reported the dog bite to the county and even though he was up to date on his rabies they took his body to do a necropsy I am just devastated, I cry at the drop of a hat - I had kept him going for almost 2 years with his congestive heart failure, going to the vet every 2 weeks and getting his stomach drained sorry to vent but I just can't seem to stop crying and thinking of how stupid I was. I haven't been to the gym all week but went tonight and did a Spin class.
