Ginger: sending healing thoughts your way.

    Badger: so happy for you!

Ruth: my Grandmother and were watching that show when it originally aired. We were flabbergasted! Nothing was mentioned about itwhen the show came back from a commercial and we were left wondering about the woman.

    Walked/ran yesterday and today.

Thanks, everyone. I am on the mend now. Went back to school today. Building up my energy and hoping to be back for Zumba class on Saturday. Luckily, school had one early closing and one late opening so I missed less class time than I otherwise would have.

I have a mammogram in two weeks; if I 'pass', I will be 10 years out (I am now going to knock on some wood). One of the YMCA yoga teachers is offering a class at the Arts Center three mornings a week, so I will try it this morning. Subbing this afternoon.

Badger, it sounds like making the jump to the new job was the right move. Good for you for having the courage to just get out of that old job.

Elliptical/bike/treadmill run circuit this morning. Off to the cabin for the wewhen DH gets home from work.

I went for a very cold 25 minute walk yesterday but it was worth it. I finally broke my weight loss plateau. I intended to go today too but that got derailed so I will go tomorrow.

    Hi girls,

Wow Ruth, 10 years! While we all know that knock wood routine, I just have to say that your voice helped me so much when I first joined on here. The fitness routine has been invaluable, and I've got to meet a few of you, and even know you better through FB...ha, although lately FB is hard to get through. I LOVE the food pics Ruth, but I agree....luscious as they are, I have to keep staying away. I wish the fat I gain would go to my boobs and make better pictures. I passed my mammos but the radiologist said better do "periodic" MRIs at some point. Now that is a fine kettle of fish. Will talk to my onc and my bs. So many dos and don'ts. Anyway, will celebrate that my 3D mammos have been good for so many years and figure out what to do later on. I have to note the irony that as I get older the torso gets more fat accumulation and the boobs just stay dense.

Tahoe was a blast, always get a ton of exercise up there. One of these days, we have to use my Tahoe pad for the get together. Reno is right there, hiking, kayaking, fishing, golfing, the Shakespeare festival, gondola rides up the mountains, Lake Tahoe (incredible) and more. Plus a free place to hang! The summer is the best, especially June, although I have to say we are probably going to have lots of snow remaining up there the way these systems are moving in. We ain't complaining: we've been in a drought for far too long.

    Anyway.

Badger, can't wait to keep hearing more about your new job. Cheryl, you getting any rain down in So Cal?

TwoHobbies, that is wonderful on the plateau breakthrough! Man, those things can really be frustrating!

    xo to all.

Congratulations on the mammo, Kim. No one has ever suggested 'periodic MRIs' to me and I am not going to ask (I can't imagine having an MRI just for the heck of it.......sometimes I wonder if some doctors just want to squeeze more money out of patients).

Yesterday I tried that new yoga class (which I liked very much...yoga surrounded by art) and will definitely go back to and I also spent some time on the dreadmill. I did an indoor walking DVD this morning & am now thinking about doing some toning (I ate a very large piece of cake when I was visiting my nursing home friend this afternoon). Friday afternoon I subbed in the room where I did the long term subbing for the happy reason that the 'real' teacher has resumed his coaching duties and had a meet (he is the head gymnastics coach & was really bummed not to feel good enough to do his job). I got several hugs (from kids), and his hard-to-handle study hall was VERY glad to see me (he is apparently a lot more strict....absence makes the heart grow fonder and I was both amused and rather flattered Smile. Ha!

Nice to hear of all the milestone anniversaries amd hoping part of the success is the exercise!!

Badger I am glad you found a new job that is good to employees, Maybe I need to look for the same.

Dazed it sounds like Tahoe was fun. Ive never been but pictures sure look beautiful.

Another cold 40 minute walk today in hopes of seeing another drop on the scale.

I didn't make it skiing as they closed the pass for avalanche control and traffic was released too late for me to ski today. I have a 10a phone call tomorrow so that is out too. I did do a very wet 5k run when I got back with another planned for tomorrow.

BUT......I am skiing next weekend. Will be heading out for another birthday ski weekend out of cell range and three glorious days of skiing. I can't wait. Scale is stuck right now, but at the point where ski pants fit better.

I am planning on celebrating all birthday week (birthday is next Thursday), so back to wine and other yummy items as there are limits to everything. Then back to take off the remaining 5 or so pounds.

Off to a hot bath to recover from the wet run. I was warm running, but am cooled down now.

Crab, wine, and a salad for dinner. Crabs are on sale and delicious right now. I would say that I'm not cooking but I am making a double batch of Rillettes de Tours for my birthday week. I have the right meat and can't wait to do this dish the right way. Now the trick is giving away enough so I don't eat it all, but not so much that I feel deprived which is what happened the last time around.

Another case where life is all about balance. - Claire

Congrats on anniversaries & good test results! 2/2 marked anniversary of BMX in 2010 so I'm on year 7.

DEXA scan in two weeks then follow-up with onc a month later. Three more years of anastrozole likely.

Old job called. The work is piling up and they're swamped. Huh, imagine that. Asked if I'd be interested in some hours on a part-time limited-term basis. Thank you no. I like having my nights and weekends free. Hire someone or get a temp and I'll give you a few hours to train him/her but that's it. TH it was definitely worth the switch.

Very cold, windy and raw here today so walked for an hour around the big box store.

Badger, must feel great to be so vindicated!  TH, congrats on breaking the plateau. Hoping to have the same thing happen to me this week.

Dazd, nice on the clear mammos. Maybe ultrasounds instead of MRIs for the dense breasts? I won't get into an MRI (and lately also not a mammo machine -- long story) so they said I could stay with ultrasounds, which I've been getting in addition to mammos.

On the subject of anniversaries, this month marks 9 years since my last chemo, mastectomy and the first scan showing NED. In 6 months I will join the 10 years out club, dead or alive!

Did a lot of walking outside with a bag of groceries as I was locked out of the house.

Heehee Badger - the same thing happened to me! My former work just offered me a consulting contract to research, test and implement some new software functionality. I said yes, as the consulting rate they offered was double what my salaried hourly rate was. I liked my immediate boss and co-workers, so it will be fun to go back and work with them part time for a few months, now that I'll be able to concentrate on a single project and take it from beginning to end while keeping my own schedule. We're finalizing the contract now. However,I would not have done it if I were working another job - as you say nights and weekends are too valuable.

Saw Hidden Figures yesterday. I can highly recommend it.

Congrats to all our long term survivors. I just hit Year 9.

Yesterday was a rest day, so will have to do something today to get some exercise.

Looking forward to the Puppy Bowl more than the Super Bowl.

    Great stories, Badger and Nats!!!

My old work partner did this for almost TEN YEARS as they had removed headcount anticipating that the new whiz bang CRM system would eliminate the need for performance metrics reporting. It didn't. His deal was working half time for the same amount of pay. He didn't need benefits (wife had better ones) so was golden.

Congrats on all the cancer anniversaries. Hope you get in some Nordic skiing, Heidi as a lot more fun than being locked out with a bag of groceries. I was there recently when our front door started to not work and I didn't have a working electronic key!!!

Only 4 more days to my birthday; six to my ski weekend.

Need to get ready for my 10a call!!!! - Claire

Nats, I didn't even ask about pay. Money was never the issue, it was the workload. Talked to someone who did say yes to a short-term project after she'd left (for another job with better pay and less work). The offer was the hourly rate she was making when she left. Not worth it to me but she wanted mad money for a long-overdue vacation (that she's on right now). :-)

HeidiHill, you so rock NED - excellent and never knew Arthur Murray was on this side of the world. Well done to Karen and Kim too. Mary, retirement is paying off handsomely for you - how cool is that. Claire, happy birthday kick-off week. Rest day for me and kicking back with Sunday papers on this gray, chilly, damp afternoon.

We got some sunshine today, so I walked my dog for 25 minutes and then went to the lake and walked 35 by myself. Now I have ordered pizzas from our favorite pizza place and will settle down and watch the Super Bowl this evening. Since I haven't had pizza in a long while, this will be good for the soul but not sure how good for my weight loss plan!

Congratulations to everyone celebrating anniversaries. Badger and Mary I love how they recognize your worth after you've gone and Mary glad it's going to work out for you to do some consulting. Heidi do you have any 'on demand' classes you can do Beachbody has a month free going on here now, don't know if it will work on an overseas URL but you could try. Kim my friend who lives in Danville has a place where yours is up in Tahoe she loves it up there and is always inviting up me for Thanksgiving it sure looks beautiful.

Well I'm back from an epic two days in San Diego. On Friday night went to Body Jam and Sh'bam classes, 6 instructors who were in town for the LM Super Q all together and best of all one of my favourite instructors who moved to Denver came just cause she heard I was going to be there, then yesterday was a full day of workouts, did RPM, Sprint, Body Step, Body Jam and Sh'bam - drove home last night and after 2 hours of sitting when I got out of the car I was as stiff as a board, it was like I was the tin man who needed oil, feel great today but just like LB I am taking a rest day.

Busy afternoon - 30 mins Scrub & Sculpt plus 30 mins walking the grocery store. Put the roast in the oven then got outside to walk while it was sunny this afternoon. DH is "watching" the game (snoring in the recliner). I'm doing the crossword puzzle. Have a great week ahead everyone!

I loved the Puppy Bowl! As for the "real" game, I did manage to catch the half time show and agree with you, Ruth - wow. Was long in bed by the big comeback but did read about it this morning. Two - bet you enjoyed that pizza! Cheryl - sounds like you had a wonderful and very exhausting weekend in San Diego. I was tired just reading about it.

Elliptical/bike/dreadmill run yesterday, and the flexibility/strength training class today.

The Super Bowl game was...kinda sad (sorry Pats fans, just wanted Atlanta to win, but Brady's mom looks like she could use her son's win, so that made it a little better.) Lady Gaga was really uplifting, glad there was no overt political stuff because upbeat was good for the soul, no matter what. Mike is headed up to Tahoe AGAIN to deal with the unfortunate situation where it snows and snows then rains and melts the snow (atmospheric river.) Very rarely do we have to do this, but when it is cold, snows and then pours rain, we have to sump pump out our mechanical room to keep the water heater and the furnace safe. It's only happened once before in the 16 years we've had the Tahoe pad, and this is the second time we have had to do it this year. I stay home and make sure the pool doesn't overflow. Not complaining, very happy we have the rain, but it keeps a good divide and conquer mentality.

Claire, HAPPY BIRTHDAY week! Seattle is just full of snow, I see! Badger, I love scrub and sculpt, I call my days like that Power Housecleaning. I turn up music and run around like a fool, back and forth, doing as much in a hour as I can. If the neighbors saw me, I'm sure I'd get a visit from the police or someone in authority. But it works!

Badger, it just amazes me as well how appropriate the "don't know whatcha got 'til it's gone" phrase applies in jobs. It just never fails.

TwoHobbies, lots 'o water today for you and me, ha ha! I am in the same boat, SBB (super bowl bloat...salty goodness = water retention.) My downfall, homemade hot wings. I even had the scarlet Frank's Red Hot stain on my fingers, for shame!

Cheryl, more reason for you to visit your NorCal buddies...there's a great Body Combat here in my gym...temptation...

Karen, the commercials were a bit strange. The Melissa McCarthy one was pretty funny for Kia.

Nine years Mary, WOW! That is so cool.

Hi to everyone else. You are motivating me to get up and go do the very Power Housecleaning I mentioned just a moment ago!

    XO

    Kim

EDIT: Mary, our dogs LOVED the puppy bowl! Benson cracks me up, he ran as fast as he could "chasing" the puppies-right into the door, poor guy! Good exercise for a rainy day!
