Pat. welcome back! TH,watch out, one can turn into a yoga bunny in a blink. Ruth, like that meme. Cheryl, out here, if you have not booked a Saturday BP 100 class by now, ya won't get a place, so I take it your gyms don't have class bookings? Drove home from BB in Folkestone last night in a snowstorm and witnessed a car drift off the A20 and head on into another. I've a 4wd, so I was able to avoid icy issues and safely get home. DH working from home as is DS so feels like the weekend has started. A little Friday chuckle from bc surgeon (with breast cancer), baker, blogger, cyclist, triathlete Elizabeth O'Riordan tweeted : bc humour

Love the hard-hat pic, Ruth, as well as the pajama ones. You guys are originals. LOL, Lilacblue! But not funny on the road conditions. TH, P90, wow!  Welcome back, Pat!

I have been trying to do yoga but still really not my thing. I did see a poster for medicinal yoga so maybe if I had a coach and insurance would pay I may get more into it. I do think I need it, especially in the winter.

Also did Body Combat last night and survived. Whew! I want to have muscles like the teacher.

So good to be back - got a couple of miles in yesterday around the neighborhood with hubby - this morning another episode of classical stretch - she did some stretches which pointed out how unflexible I've become - but I know it will come back in time. I've tried yoga and didn't care for it, but classical stretch on tv I did for years and always felt good afterwards - just need to make it a habit again.

Last night another 45 minute body sculpt class and 20 minutes treadmill at steepest incline. 'My' treadmill was taken so I found out this other treadmill has 5 more incline levels!

Sad news at work today - a friend/co-worker passed away this morning after a valiant 2nd battle with cancer. She was already a BC survivor when she hired in here several years ago and was one of my guardian angels after diagnosis and through mastectomy/reconstruction. I knew she was fighting again but she was very private about it and I had no idea things were so bad. It was aggressive and all the treatments attempted did not work. She was a remotely located marketing associate so I did not have the chance to see her face to face very often but we always hugged when we had the chance.

    Cancer sucks

    Rest in peace Stephanie Holstad

LB: funny cartoon! Glad you made it back home safely.

Heidi: i'm not much of a yoga person either. My yoga experience is kind of like Ruth's cartoon that she posted. Funny!

Sweet: I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Very sad.

Hi everybody! Another pretty day here. 72° during my walk/run. All that is changing tonight. Clouds and a high in the low 40s for tomorrow – just in time for Girl Scout cookie delivery day. I'm involved with it and will be standing outside in the cold and clouds. Oh boy!

So sad about your friend, Sweet.

Your weather is a real yoyo, Wonderland.

Still really cold here but it's supposed to warm up next week (but which I mean the 20s ABOVE). I did 45 minutes indoor walking DVD, 30 minuets abs, and some stretching. I did finally get the Christmas decorations down so feel quite accomplished.

Sweet, I am so sorry for your loss.

Swam an hour today (indoor pool at the gym)....and then sat in the hot tub for half an hour so I could brave the 'cold' of a central Californian night.....the rain has finally stopped and I am hoping to get outside this three day weekend!

hi all and welcome back Pat!

Sweet, sorry for the loss of your co-worker. One of my colleagues was just dx and hasn't told anyone at work but me, as she knows I understand. It makes me so angry and sad to see the endless procession of sisters.

We have Monday off for MLK holiday but have to take mom to a dr appt so can't sleep in. Have honey-do list ready for DH.

Four more work days and a weekend to go for wrapping up old job! Have long list of tasks in-process for supv. Scheduled exit interviews, one with head of our division and one with HR Director. Have a list of recs starting with HIRE SOME MORE PEOPLE, which I know they won't do (they say they can't but I say BS, I've seen the budget), so also suggesting ways to consolidate tasks and streamline processes. Another high-productivity (overworked) person just announced she's leaving so mgmt had better wake up and smell the coffee.

Sunny enough to walk in the park this afternoon.

Sweet so sorry about your friend.

Grit Cardio followed by Body Pump 100 - oh my gosh just when you think they can't possibly find new ways to change things up they totally do. The shoulder and biceps tracks just about did me in, right now I can barely lift my arms!!!!

I did 55 minutes of Zumba Live, and also a 15 minute Zumba Abs which was on the same DVD. It was a balmy 16 degrees here today so I ran lots of errands.

Sharing pictures from yesterday's ski. I think I know what Absolute Zero feels like as got seriously chilled on the way back. Amanda and I got a later start than planned because I always forget that it takes extra time to rent skis, etc. It was in the single digits on top and windy. But glorious and perfect snow. I am going again today as the last day of perfect snow, and there are two trails I haven't been able to ski yet this and which are now open. Probably the two that are most fun to ski when the conditions are good. This is the last day of perfect conditions for a while.

Today's ski will be easier as I won't be doing all the uphill climbing....just a bit. Plus about 10 miles, not 12. The good news is that the Pareto Diet (called "Pareto" because the quality tool Pareto Analysis identified two main sources of excess calories in my diet - outside deli lunches and wine which I have nixed for the month of January and also half of last month) is working. I am more than half way to my goal of 15 pounds!!!

Also looking quite buff from all the skiing. Not to mention that my ski pants are fitting a lot better....need less "stretch" to put them on!!!!!

    image

The mountains in the far distance are the Olympic Mountains which are 100 miles away with Seattle and the Puget Sound in between. A very special spot.

    image

This is Silver Peak. We didn't get to go all the way up to the top of the hill in the foregone as ran out of time. Did I mention that it was windy up there??? The trail is called "Windy Acres" for a reason. We climbed about 4k to get to the viewpoint above.

    image

View of the mountains we skied around yesterday. We skied down to the other side of the saddle, and then around the mountain at the left. Finished by skiing around to the other side of the mountain on the right. Just so fun and perfect snow.

Very beautiful snow pictures, Claire. Although I am more in the mood for beautiful beach pictures!

Did some yoga this morning & just spent about an hour chipping ice off the driveway. It is supposed to warm into the upper 30s by the end of the week, which will make us all lots happier around here.

Beautiful pictures, Claire. I love the snow, love it, love it. But Ruth, I did sped the morning looking at overwater bungalows in the Carribbean. LOL. Split personality.

We got sun for a few hours and it was around 30 so we the entire family got out for a 32 minute walk. I was so tired of being cooped up and not getting my walks around the lake.

    Claire, gorgeous photos!!!

Slow walking day....just under 13K steps....Thought I walked more than that!! Will try to make up tomorrow. Cold, damp and grey today....had some snow flurries with snow, 1-4 inches predicted for tonight.

Ruth...wow, you're in for a heat wave at 35 degrees!!!

Two more pictures from yesterday. It was a balmy 20F at the bottom with still perfect snow. I did the easier ski, but still did 10 miles. Only a bit stiff today and feel extremely fit from all the skiing. This is the first winter in a number of years that I have been able to get in the amount of skiing I like to, so making the most of everything.

Skiing make you strong and sculpted, including the pectorals....which I can feel today. Also places such as the back of the arms and shoulders. Think I need to rock my leather mini skirt now that the weather is about to get a bit warmer.

The first one is when you just get off the lift. You ski down a bit, and then go off to the left to the Nordic trails. The second is of Frog Lake where the fog was just lifting. Just magical. - Claire

Well, the weekend was full of football (go Pats!) but did manage to get my exercise in. I've been doing classical stretch every morning (I DVR it). Beginning to feel it working, but also points out how unlimber I have become. Also managed at least 40 minutes active exercise each day, gained through walking. Yesterday hubby and I went for a hike in the preserve next to our neighborhood - was a glorious hike and really felt it in my legs. Spending today transferring files from an old computer to my new one, getting bogged down looking at photos from 10+ years ago. Crisp and cold here today, but I'm headed out shortly to walk the neighborhood.

Woke up to several inches of snow this morning....gray skies all day. Walking in the neighborhood is tough with some sidewalks not shoveled and the road being icy. Tomorrow high 40's and sunny so most of the snow will melt.

Met a new primary care physician with Mom today....they make house calls. The doctor spent about an hour with Mom. She said they see patients monthly. They will call you with the day of the appointment and then call about an hour before they arrive. If I can't be there, we will talk on the phone while the doctor is at Mom's. I was so impressed with this doctor and Mom also liked her. This sure took a load off my shoulders. I could no longer take Mom in my car and Access-a-Ride is a hassle. This practice is called doctors on call and they only see patients in skilled nursing facilities, independent and assistive living facilities. The doctor was familiar with the neurological disease that my mother has.

It was nice to have the long week-end, but tonight I need to write two reports. My work computer is being repaired, but finally I can get on my home computer. Looking to buy a "new" macbook air.

    Stay warm, Karen

Claire: your pictures are absolutely beautiful! I feel like I'm there with you.

Karen: doctors on call sounds exactly like what you need for your mother. I know this brings you peace of mind.

Hi everybody! Girl Scout cookie delivery day was cold, cloudy, and a little windy. And absolutely miserable as usual. Our service unit distributed over 2000 cases of cookies. There are 12 boxes of cookies in each case. That's just the initial order. Troops can pick up more cases throughout this sale at cookie cupboards It's just crazy how many cookies are sold.

I walked/ran yesterday and today. It's been rather warm (expect on Saturday) so I'm enjoying the time I can get outside and walk.

Sounds like you have a great doctor and situation (House Calls....Wow!) for your mom, Karen.

Today I did a half hour Cardio Dance DVD & an hour long toning DVD and went to a movie. If you haven't seen Hidden Figures yet, be sure to go. It is absolutely fantastic!

Got my ~2 mile neighborhood walk in yesterday (twice around the block, it's a long block!) - it takes me about 35 minutes and I'm aiming for 40 active minutes a day so I just walk around the driveway loop a few times at the end. Classical stretch this morning, and need to get my walk in before the rain comes this afternoon.

45 minutes of toning & an indoor walking DVD. The weather has warmed up but it is still so icy that you have to shuffle when you are walking outside.

There was no school yesterday, but I am subbing afternoons again today through Thursday; my friend is still struggling with post-radiation fatigue. On Friday DH & I fly out for 10 days in Arizona. I can't wait, and will really feel like I am playing hooky this year!
