Lisa I am thrilled you won!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are my silly plastic bag holders, I learned not to use seed beads because they come off when you take bags in or out. I am going to scrape them off and paint each petal a different color. The next one will be lips and eyes like a face. Also am putting up my new deck which is my husbands craft. He did a good job.

-
Lisa - CONGRATS! WOO-HOO FOR YOU!
spar - VERY COOL! What a great idea. And your deck... it looks awesome! Your dh is goooood!
-
Laura, I decided the original bra I was making was too tacky, so I have not finished it. While hand sewing sequins, I got tired, step back and said to myself - OMG that is way too tacky !!!
Got another one with only fringe around the top and dangly beads on the bottom. It is a soft, satin fabric, not padded, so I may have to "enhance" the cups to have it stand out a bit. My sewing machine was acting up, but only needed a new needle. How are your bras coming along?
-
Nancy, thanks for the info on the military cool ties, I was aware of the restrictions on the fabric to use for them. Last night I sold more of the ties than anything else. I didn't pre-soak them but had them in individual zip bags with the instructions for care typed up on labels on the outside. Two young girls didn't want to wait until they completly swelled up before wearing them.
Laura, I will look for your letter.
Sheila
-
Sheila, I would like to order some of the ties also. Will you pm me directions, price, and addy?
Don't know what I would do without all you creative friends. Such wonderful ideas and such talent.
My granddaughter made a pretty bag holder today for her mom, she made a rainbow flower around it and wrote i love you mom around it and put all kinds of stickers on it.
I am missing alwayshope, wish she would post some more. Gonna have to go get on the phone and call her. Have a good evening all.
-
I am glad the neck coolers were a success, Sheila. At the Avon Walk there was a vendor who was selling them for $ 6 each, and I am not sure how well it worked for them. A sticker on the outside is a good idea. I just put instructions inside the zip baggie. I am not sure the military can wear them WITH their uniforms, but when not on duty, I know they prefer bland, dull colors.
If you are really creative, ( I am NOT ), you can make a round one to wear UNDER a base ball cap or helmet (military). I think I saw them on one of the google sites.
For many years I have used milk jugs for plastic bags, but never decorated them. When we had church bazaar or flea markets, they were a very handy.
-
Hey Sparbiedoll! I'm here. The deck looks great! Tell hubby he did a wonderful job.

-
Nancy, I saw those directions to make the round ones to wear under the helmet/baseball cap but I don't think I will try those. I don't know if I will get to the fabric store this week for the military colors, I am getting ready for the trip this weekend (the reason I was going to the farmer's market). I may continue to go to the farmer's market after I get back just to see how well the items sell that I already have made up.

Hi all!.......Spar I will send the directions soon for the prayer shawls..........Did you get your booties yet?.....The deck looks great!......
Lisa...Congratulations!......I voted for you too!.....
Welcome back alwayshope!....
Lefty/Nancy what are the bras for?..........Sounds fun .........
-
Lucy, check out the 'artfull bra project' I just posted to that thread.
In a nutshell, there is a group of quilters in SC that had a challenge to create bras as pieces of art to be auctioned off as a fund raiser for breast cancer research. The thread has a link to the site that displays their completed works of art.
My support group is hosting this year's Komen for the Cure luncheon in September and we are doing our own type of bra project. I am helping organize the bras into a 'fashion show' with a local dance team modeling the bras (with body suits on underneath). My bra is the 'Colors of Cancer Support' Bra. I have collected 21 different color ribbons that represent various types of cancer, cut them into various lengths, twisted them into the shape you see on lapels to show support (think Pink ribbon campaign) and am stitching them to cover the entire bra. I have them pinned just on one cup right now but it looks very interesting.

I love the idea...

Oh, Jazzy girl, am so glad to see you post. Hope all is going well with you. Have you worked anymore on that pink and purple zigzag quilting project. I miss you bunches.
Hollyann, I received the booties in the mail this morning and they are the cuties little booties I have ever seen. The lady having the baby will love them. Thank you so very much!
thank you for the compliments on the deck, DH did do well on that project. Only 2 things left on his honey do list, well maybe 3. LOL.
Sheila, I am liking the idea also.
-
Nancy - The tackier - THE BETTER! lol lol lol I'm sure whatever you decide on... it will look great!
Sheila - Your bra sounds GREAT! I'm confused... why are the SC Quilters charging money for them to be used as a display... I thought it was a charitable program for breast cancer. Do you know the details? Also... I sent you a check for some coolers! Thanks!
-
Laura, the cost was for the shipping expenses to and from Charleston SC. Each bra is shipped with the hangar as well as a protective case and stand. We could have probably gotten them without shipping charges if we wanted to drive to Charleston to pick them up and driven back to return them, each way is about a 5 hour drive from my area. According to the website the bras are going to be auctioned off for their cancer charity in October. The details are on the home page for the SC quilters (use the back link on the top of the Artfull Bra website to get to the details on where the bras are going to be displayed.) The bras are in Knoxville TN this week at the American Quilters National quilt show (4 hours away).

thanks ivorymom, can't wait to see pictures of the prayer shawls
Nancy, I would love to see the sequined bra, tacky is good.
Sheila, I got you a check in the mail today also.
Everyone have a great day.
-
started working on the first square of the wall hanging I am going to quilt. I get so frustrated if things don't match perfectly and do what I want them to do. I finally got the book out again and then a light bulb went off in my head oh yea. Decided to take a break and get on the computer a bit anyway. Hope all is doing well tonight.
-
Spar, you inspired me to finish my tacky sequined bra. It will take a couple of days with the neuropathy in my fingers, but I am determined to finish it. Good luck with the wall hanging.
-
Good for you Lefty. I made one of the baby wipes covers will post a picture of it tomorrow after everything dries good. Keep on crafting. Getting ready to bed, nite nite ladies.
-
I finished my sequin embellished bra this morning. At least I think I finished it. Maybe a few more sequins will get added later...
-
Spar and nancy, can't wait to see pics of your crafts......I am currently crocheting a doily called Doves in Flight........It is a round doily with 6 doves around with outstretched wings.........It is one of the pineapple doilies I love to crochet.......I also every once in a blue moon will crochet a baby sweater or an adult sweater but it has been a while since I crocheted any of those.......Happy crafting, ladies!........
-
IF I could post a picture, I would be glad to share. You will have to wait till Pinkstock next weekend and I am sure someone will post pictures.
-

This is a picture of the baby wipe case, it sounds so simple but I had a terrible time making it, a lot harder than it sounds.
Hollyann, I am very excited to see a doily with doves, I love doves and have a dove glass windchime hanging in my bedroom window. Hope to see pictures.
Lefty, please make sure someone posts that bra, can't wait to see it. You have just got to learn to post pictures. Hope to see lots of pictures of pinkstock.
Hi ivorymom, hope all is well with you today.
-
also, I really am remembering how to play the piano again, I practice everyday starting with scales and am finally "getting it again" It is so exciting and I appreciate it so much more now than I did when I was young. My favorite is Floyd Cramer's last date and I bought it off of the internet today to relearn it. So far I have relearned Fur Elise and Spinning Song. Last date will be my next one to work on. Have a good day.
-
Spar love your lates craft..baby wipe cover.....one day I will be able to devote some time to crafts..in the meantime I will enjoy this thread.
-
I hope you do, I do so love to see everyones crafts. Hope your doing good candie.
-
Spar that holder looks very hard to make......I don't sew even though I have 2 sewing machines.....I have DH's grandmother's sewing machine from 1949 or 1950 complete with the original manual that cam with it and a more modern sewing machine form a couple of years ago......Neither one have been used much by me..........When I get a chance I will post a pic of the doily.........It isn't finished yet.......
-
Oh, yes! I so agree. Making beautiful things keeps our minds off the ugly stuff.
I make greeting cards and recently opened a shop on www.bethscardcreations.etsy.com if you want to take a look! It's a great way to keep my mind off my bc.
-
Beth, I checked out your card shop and you have some great talent. I wonder if you could fix up a box (such as 10 in a box) for a certain price and all be for different things. I like to keep extra cards on hand for when needed
Hollyann, I used spray glue and jewelry glue and hot gun glue to make the baby wipe case. I have a new sewing machine I have not used either, I can't seem to get the tension just right. Now I am working on some quilting squares again.
It is late and need to try to get some sleep tomorrow will be busy with helping with a baby shower.
hugs and love, sherry
-
I had to check in and post a picture of watermelon art that was done at the baby shower yesterday. It is amazing.

Hollyann, your booties were a huge success. People were still oohing and aahing over them even after the shower. Thank you so much again for such a lovely gift.
-
Your crafty ways amaze me!
AlwaysHope and Spar, I LOVE my blanket and use it EVERYDAY! How lucky am I to have met such sweet and caring sisters? Love you!
Miss you all........
