Tazzy! That is a great quote. I am stealing it right now.
"I have noticed that if I open the back door and the front door any dust gets blown away."

I confess to purging (not cleaning!) the house of junk, crap, unwanted, underused, duplicate items. I dream of space, openess, breathing room. Space for exercise/yoga/meditation, space for sewing/crafts, space for reading .... I love our trash pick up and recycle center (they take just about anything which makes it easy, just drag to the curb)
Welcome newbie dustbunnies! Hello fellow bunnies! Hope all is as well as possible.
Holly- yipey for hip re adjustment! I just got the offical dx of osteo arthritis / degenerative disease in a number of places; explains some of the problems I've been having (not all can be blamed directly on the femara but..) I have been doing less and less house cleaning, it can be too much somedays. Found Flylady, and took bits and pieces from that site to create a plan for basic upkeep that I can manage.

ooh just back some post...so sorry for the sad news

Housework support thread... I love it. I am the worst housekeeper on earth and my husband hates a messy house. My theory is if you hate it than clean it up. lol. I dont think he appreciates my thoughts on the subject. However he has been attempting to keep it up for 15 years so I guess he isnt going anywhere. I absolutely love cooking and make fabulous meals and also terrible messes. I have tried flylady for motivation and it worked for a short time but I dont have a long attention span. We both are terrible hoarders and cant seem to throw anything away. I certainly am looking for this steroid buzz everybody is talking about when I start chemo and pray it helps to motivate me. Im just tired of being tired... Hugs to all

Bunnies!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially East Coast Bunnies!!!!!!!
Sending you my warmest thoughts and prayers to those of you who have been hit by Hurricane Sandy. I sincerely hope there wasn't anything that can't be replaced. I guess one good things to get out of this is NO HOUSEWORK THIS WEEK!! But seriously, I pray everyone is safe and sound.

I am Safe and only had 14 hours without power. HUGS for all.

Yikes!! I got away with only 2 hours off. And we had just stuffed the chest freezer with hundreds of dollars of food!!! We were sweating it, trust me!!
-
Helloooo bunnies.. just about caught up on the thread.
As ever sending peachy vibes your way regularely but tonight was the night I figured it was about time I came here and send you my peachiest in writing.
So glad GramE is safe! Glad to see some familiar names and of course glad to see more dust bunnies coming on and sharing their stories of wooooooooooooooo and dust, and life.
Life's been keeping me away daaalings. I've been trying to manage too much on my own this year, and just about managing to cope but boy I could SO do with a magical little helper to help me declutter playroom and office.. seem i've been wanting to tackle those 2 rooms for e v e r!! but the OMG priority list keeps growing and these jobs just don't get a "looks see".
Just wanted to send you all some love and a big peachy hug. No doubt you are doing your best today what ever you are doing, and no doubt you are just FAB.
Think of you often.
ps: for those who know me, Kids are fabulous.
pss: Barbe, that is a gorgeous picture! Sorry I've been so long away!
xx hug

I'm less than 2 weeks out from mastectomy, left, with axilary dissection. For some reason my BS goes a bit overboard and gives me 4 drains for a single mx, then tells me not to use my left hand/arm until all drains are out.
I live with a very messy DH and 2 little dogs, and right now, all I can do is sit and watch the three of them make little messes for me to straighten up when I get the the go ahead from BS.
I think I'd go hide if someone were to come to my door right now. I still have stitches in my side, so it really pulls when I try to bend down.
Blessings
Paula -
Paula, let it go!!! And don't bother picking up when you can. Tell your DH you like the new relaxed look of your house...he'll soon learn to pick up if he's had it done by you all these years! They (DH's) get used to a certain look we provide them, and pretend they can't duplicate it...hehehehehe. My DH is 62 and STILL can't remember to put the drain back in the kitchen sink when he's done doing dishes (dishwasher)!! I HATE it lying on the sink edge, drives me nuts! But I just put it back in and walk out.

BUNNIES!!!!!!!!!!!
Popping through with joy and blessings on Thanksgiving for each and every bunny-in-the-hutch.
I've kept every single bunny in my heart and prayers all these months that I've been away.
Thanksgiving makes me realize how much I hold you all, dearies.
My work has grown and taken me on amazing travels.

I`ve been off for one and a half YEARS on disability. Since then I`ve had my thyroid removed and a pacemaker inserted. It`s been a busy time trying to get my back assessed and treated properly....sigh. BUT, on the good side, I`ve finally revived my art and am going gangbusters!!!
-
Hi Bunnies,
Haven't been here for a while so I am hoping that life is treating you all good.
Need some prayers from you ....my mum has just been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and will be having surgery tomorrow.
thanks and hugs

Aw Viv!!! Your Mom is in my prayers, now, sweetie! Please keep us posted....

Hi ladies, I too have been away for a while. Too many bad things happening and needed to hide for a while. Must be something in the water..my sister was just dxed w bladder cancer. Mass was removed and will start chemo in the next wk or so. Still doing scans and such to figure what exactly is going on. Later her bladder will be removed. I wish I was closer to her (I am about 5hrs drive away). blah.
Plz forgive me for I have been cleaning. well not cleaning exactly but purging and removing lots of things from the house. Both kids are graduated from university, one moved out (and my former dh also moved yeah) so I am empty nesting w the cat.
Hugs to everyone.
-
EWB, it's great to see you. Sorry too many bad things have been thrown your way. Btw, I think we've all given up on housework!
This has been a great thread tho.
-
I think no housework is the goal here! Never really into cleaning, now that I have some control I have been trying the FlyLady system (little every day, big on decluttering and nothing overnight...didn"t get there over night and can"t fix overnight). Works for me. This IS a great thread and loads of support.
-
Well, this is strange! Since your post the other day EWB, I've been putzing around the house, dusting, vacuuming, tidying. It just struck me now......was it your post that gave me incentive and spurred me in to action?
Whatever the reason, it's nice to see you back. Hugs.
-
Sorry ladies, NO ONES' post will make me want to do housework!! We are halfway into redoing our kitchen, buying the cupboards two at a time on a 6-month do-not-pay so our bill every six months will be lower...get it!! We've stopped though, as our last and final cat is on his death-bed, literally. For a couple of days now he can't even walk so we hold bowls to his face for him to eat and drink. As of this morning he won't even drink. Two days ago I told my DH he wouldn't make it through the long weekend and I think I'm right...sigh. I just tried to wipe water then cream on his mouth and he didn't even put his tongue out to lick it!! If he was outside, he'd have already found his "nest" in the forest to die in. So we haven't vacuumed for the last month and with all the kitchen stuff in the dining room in laundry baskets and piled on the table, well, our small house seems even smaller. But there is no way we'd stress out this poor cat (18+ years old!!) by running a vacuum near him or hammering away in the kitchen. As well, the litter box has been upstairs here with him (he's in an open faced box at the top of the basement stairs with his blankie nested under him) and no one can stand the sight of a litter box but the parents!!! I found him collapsed in the litter box two days ago and I thought that was it, but he was okay. We've taken away the box so he doesn't try to get to it, he's SUCH a good boy!!!!! Needless to say, when he is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge I will be cleaning....
Elaine, so very good to hear from you!! Sounds like you're doing a LOT of purging...wink, wink!!
-
Sharon, I went off on LTD the day I found out Eliazabeth passed, and am now about to go back except there is no job for me! They are scrambling, trying to place me, but it looks like I might just get a settlement. I've been getting 1/2 pay for two years, the settlement would be full pay for maybe up to 16 weeks and I can still get employment somewhere else! I've had a couple of interviews, but not gotten an offer yet. It's tougher as I'm now 55 and trying to find a new job! Wish me luck ladies!!
I went off due to my back pain and the amount of Morphine I had to take daily. Just too much to drive on. When I got up to 150 mgs a day and was still getting break-through pain they finally put me on Fentanyl. And it works!! So far. So now I'll be driving to work on Fentanyl! Again, wish me luck!! I'd only driven 7 times this YEAR when they decided to send me back to work. I told the insurance company they were crazy and would be held liable for any car accidents!
-
Please save me from myself ! I am actually doing some cleaning. Well purging actually, decluttering and tossing. Feels very good to be doing this, so many yrs of messy child, collecting momentos child, and disaster at cleaning/saving things etc former husband. I can just about see the floors and table tops reliably. Soon I will be able to do quick sweeps and mops without it being a major event... maybe I don't need saving just yet
-
We will let you continue....as it's been 6 years at least building up! Purging cleanses the soul...
-
Doing a long-overdue cleaning today - love the idea of this thread. Just a week out of SNB and so trying to use my arms a bit more. Will start with the living room and see how that goes!
-
eloqui, don't over do it!!!! Pace yourself. Take time to sit back and play games on the computer and rest or at least change the action of your arms. You don't want to build up lymphadema!!!!!!
-
Hello to all you housekeepers! It's been FOREVER since I've been on BCO, but while making my list of "things to do today" I thought of you all and the good conversations we used to have. I hope everyone is doing ok. I often wonder about everyone's health. It's been 8 years since I've done chemo. Time flies way too fast!! If any of you still visit this thread, I'd love to hear from you. Much love to all!!!!!
-
Wellllllll guess I'll be cleaning house all alone.....LOLOL. I guess I need to scout around for some better and more active threads.....and definitely more fun than cleaning house:) haha
-
coonie!!!!!! It's me!!!!!!! I am back as a stage IV sadly. About to find out just how bad on Tuesday after CT and bone scan and lumpectomy showed cancer.
