Happy New Years all!
Been awhile since I posted here, but am in the process of decluttering my basement. Spent about 4 hours yesterday hanging up pictures, light fixtures, sconces etc and will do another few hrs tomorrow. Threw away a lot of crap and its starting to come together. Its still a disaster down there, but an organized disaster. Holiday stuff is in bins and stacked, big items to throw away are in a corner (like couch, old rugs, going through books to donate and keep etc.
Next up is putting shelving in the closets and plywood above the rafters in the garage to put the items into.
My hope is that I can have my basement cleaned out in the next 3 months and then flooring put back in over the summer.
Recap: we flooded in Aug and finished a remodeling upstairs at the same time--so we lost our basement storage area and our attic at the same time. Everything went into the garage, and now we moved everything out of the garage that doesn't belong back into the house to weed through, organize etc. Add to that, we painted and redid the floors on the main floor so knickknacks, pictures, wall hangings were also moved to the basement. The main floor and upstairs look great! Basement looks like an epsiode of "Horders".
Is it bad that I actually hoped for another flood so that everything would have to go and would save me the time and aggravation of organizing all of this? I pulled up the bin of pictures into my closet with that secret wish in mind.

Love and Love and the peachiest of vibes coming over from your ol Lemonette bunny in the UK.
"good eye giving me jip" so little emailing writing or BCO ing going on, but girls, I continue to hold you dear in my heart and think of you many times a week, accross my days. Especially thinking of my old bunny crew, and thinking that i've neglected you. Still, Santa's little helper has been a busy bee, and the magic is still as ever, a blessing to see in my two kiddos' eyes on Christmas morning.
The kids have baked and decorated cookies to share, made gifts, wrote to their friends, with help from maman of course, and it has been a joy every day to hear them as they play with their new instruments. I can here my dear DS downstairs squeeling with delight at his BEE-Bot motor toy, and my DD is at her drum machine singing her own song. I am so blessed.
oh! and DS rediscovered an old Winnie the Pooh video this Christmas, the honey tree one, and he keeps getting in stiches about when Pooh Bear is too big to get unstuck of Rabbit's hole and he keeps going "Pooh, oh is tooooo big! got stuck!, then He bouged! he budged! he bouged!" and laughing some more, sweeeet. God Love him.
Coonie, special "halloooo" to you my special darling friend. I want to try to get in touch with you next week somehow. Thinking of you and all my bunny friends.
Peaaaachy vibes in buckets coming your way. Faith! Thank you re Julz! Barbe, still dishing out good advic I see.
You all rock! (my eye is too watery now, so am off)

Happy Happy New year to ALL BUNNIES!!
Wishing you all a clutter free, or at least a friend or helper to minimise the clutter, Year full of fun.. and wilst I am wishing, a "self clean house" may as well wish "big"!! Was just on the net looking at self cleaning ovens.. and thought of us on this thread! Dare I say it, I did spend a good part of New Years day decluttering and organizing our home office.. I can hear your dissaproval from afar!! BUT, That was after pancakes with the kids and fun, then they went to the park with daddy whilst I tackled the office job with festive music to sway to. It was VERY satisfying to make a good dint in that "to do" that has been on my personal home wish list all year, without succesfully getting to the top, so in a kind of twisted way.. it was lovely "me time". (I also found a bunch of pictures I had "lost" years ago, so that was a sweet treat!
xx bunnies for ever!
ALL MY BEST To YOU ALL.

Edit to add a pretty white soft bunny at the top of the page
Hi Everybunny
I hope everyone is doing ok. SURELY none of you are doing housework. I know I'm sure not and I can take pics to prove it. hehehe
DD is getting her own place and should be moving next week. Now THAT'S when I will be doing major cleaning re-arranging. Things are driving me insane.........boxes, etc all over the place. But it's an exciting time.
I think of you all often. Sure hope everyone is doing ok.
Sending all of you great big ole hugs!!!! We need to have a bunny party soon. It's almost our "time of year". hehe

I found a new housecleaning company and I hope it works out. We bought a gun safe for my meds and a 2 cu ft safe for my other valuable like silver and my moms jewelry that is left. I will lock up everything I can and be willing to know that loss is a possiblility with the rest. I guess I am still burned over knowing the girls were into my dresser drawers. When our meds can go for $50.00 a pill on the street we need to be careful. I was feeling so out of iot for so long that it is no wonder things got by me.
I also realized that the house was getting dirtier by the week they were doing less and less. I liked some of them so I feel bad about that but I dont know if they were all in on it or not.
I hope the new people are more honest. I will do my best not to tempt them to steal.

Gingerbrew ... that's terrible! I hope your new crew is insured and bonded!

Good morning my bunny friends!......Gingerbrew, I am always shocked when I hear of people taking advantage of sick people....It just burns my buns!.......I hope you are able to file legal papers against them..........
Well, went to doc for my hip .....AGAIN.......He said if I was older he would consider hip replacement......I have moderate OA in mt right hip...This last shot didn't even last a week......I didn't see my usual ortho doc...I saw his partner.....I am thinking of going back and seeing my regular ortho doc...I trust him more than this other guy......
Hope you all have a GREAT weekend!.....*SIGH*...I on the other hand must get ready for work.....
Love, hugs and prayers to you all for health happiness and healing........

Ginger that's horrible, u'r trusting and paying people to help u and they steat. That makes me so angry to hear, taking advantage of u.. I'm so sorry that has happened to u.
And as far as cleaning I had a hard time before all this--tho I did it-- but now Hu I don't even care I do just do some basics and my dgtr comes and help and my grandson too. But most often I do nothin. I know it's terrible.
-
Camillegal ... that's not terrible ... I do what I can but I no longer obsess over what isn't done - I don't have the energy or stamina. If someone is judging me on how clean my house is they should go to someone else's house! I am of the Phyllis Diller school of housework - "you clean the house and you just have to do it again in 6 months!"
-
I cleaned and windexed my house for last Sunday when my son, wife and grandson were coming over. Within 3 minutes my grandson (1 year) had plastered sticky prints all over the glass coffee table and had crumbs all over the carpet!! Truly wondered why I bothered...sigh.
-
I got our carpet cleaned yesterday. They got out all the pet stains. I am so glad. Moving stuff out of the areas was a pretty big job. My hope is that as we put it all beck it will be better. I am amzed at how much the dogs carry in on them. Sticks, twigs, leaves, seeds, little prickly things and more. Stewie is one huge ball of fluffy fur and is big. Harry is scraggly and little. Harry must get under shrubs and he gets a ton of tiny black seeds on him.
I did unpack three big boxes of bathroom stuff that still hadn't been unloaded since our move here year and a half ago. I am so glad I did that. I threw away most of it.
New housecleaners are a couple and their company comes highly recommended on Angies list. They came once so far and did a good job. I have most steal worthy things in the safe now or its already gone. My meds are all in a small handgun safe in my dresser drawer.
I have never been enthusiastic about house cleaning, nor did I do a lot of it. Now though, I feel little to no guilt at having others do it. I am enjoying the house looking semi nice most of the time. I will always have books, and books, and books, and papers here and there. I will never have a strerile looking house because I also have things I love here and there and everywhere. I like to have things I care about. I couldnt live in a hotel.
Love you all Ginger
-
Ginger ... me too! I would like a house that looks like it was photographed for Architectual Digest but its not gonna happen! I am too fond of clutter and I love having the things I love surround me.
-
Good morning everyone. Bumping this thread up a notch and adding one suggestion for those who might do a bit of Spring Cleaning... Since I live alone, the only one I can blame for spots on the carpet is myself. Drips and dribbles here and there - so I took the easy way out with Resolve Deep Carpet powder. Man oh man, does it work great. Shake the container, sprinkle on the spots, scrub a bit with soft bristle brush ( I used a nail brush ) let it dry and vacuum. This is the USA, so not sure what is available in Canada or for the Aussie gals.
Kathleen, On a day when I feel like tidying up, my apartment is ready for company. Other days, I am not exactly knee deep in clutter, but what I call "lived in". Hugs for all, Nancy
-
My carpets were cleaned two weeks ago and already they look bad in just hours after vacuuming. My two dogs carring in twigs, small plants, leaves and full out branches in their coats. Stewie is a standard poodle with a long coat. He is like a moving leaf broom.
The spot tip sounds good. Thank you GramE
I still didn't get that drawer done. Maybe I need a different goal to get moving again.
Love you all Ginger

Just found this thread - what a wonderful bunch of women here!
Two weeks before my BMX in December, we had new carpeting installed throughout the house. That meant we had to pack up EVERYTHING as if we were moving out. I have probably 25 bankers boxes labeled "Important Papers" and another 30 or so labeled "SORT".
Once the carpet was in, and the house looked so nice without all the extra crap in it, I told DH I didn't want the boxes back in the house. So they stayed in the garage and the Tuff Shed. It was so nice coming home to such a serenely clean bedroom!!!
Of course, now we can't find anything we need, and our Spring project is for each of us to go through a box a week to locate all those "Important Papers", etc.
We've had housecleaners come in every two weeks since surgery, and they're still coming. I am SO grateful! DH and I found out (I think it was from watching one of those Peter Walsh shows) that we are "Surface Abusers".......in other words, if there is a flat surface somewhere, it will eventually be piled with clutter.
Happy Spring, everyone!
-
Oh my goodness, there we have it! We too are surface abusers! My DH never met a new pile he didn't like. The more the merrier says he!
If there is a space on a surface my husband seems to think it feels lonely and goes out of his way to fill it. What is the cure? Tell, please.
One thing about old boxes of papers, You get to throw most of them out! It is a quick sort.
Welcome Blessings
Ginger

Ok ladies call me crazy but I am doing my spring cleaning.Started with the bedroom walkin and pulled out 2 huge bags of clothes that I could no longer wear. Now I can actully hang up my handbag collection.Handbags are my favorite shopping item.I will not tell how many I have.
My kitty is still shocked to see me organizing my closet
-
Mum, I hope those clothes weren't part of dear kitty's bed. It's too cold here today to call it spring cleaning. I just took the dogs out, ME in winter coat, mitts, hat and..........sandals. Didn't want to muss my pedi.
