    I had a total hip replacement on April 4th and in rehab so I haven't been on the boards much but I see today that this thread is active again.  I can't bend until Independence Day (for fear of dislocating new joint) so the housework can just wait.  Everytime I look at something that needs to be cleaned I remind myself I can't do it.  Maybe I can stretch this out for several months!

    Marple ... lol ... that sounds like something I would do!

    Thank you, Ginger!

    I just noticed how long my fingernails are getting!

    It's either the vitamins in the Optifast I'm on, or the fact that I'm hardly doing a lick of work in the house or in the yard!!!!! Laughing

    KATHLEEN!!  It's so great to 'see' you.  I hope your hip is mending as it should.  A bit of a drastic measure to avoid housework my friend.

    My name is Marple and I did no housework today.  LMBO.

    First I got breast cancer, then I shatter my shoulder and had to have a total shoulder replacement and then I had a total hip replacement.  I am desperate not to do housework!

    My name is Kathleen and I did no housework today.  Do you think there's a support group for us?

    "Hi Kathleen," everyone says together.

    Yes, there probably is, but what would be the goal of the group? Watch out or they will make a Reality TV show about it!

    Enjoy

    Good morning, everyone!     I, too, have not done as much housework as I should but I can't do a lot of the heavy work like I used to could.   I am having problems with my hip and some days it's all I can do to get through the day at work much less getting housework done. I even use a cane on occasion to keep my balance..   The chiropractor said I have the start of osteoporosis and that my hip is turned in a little.    It SUCKS getting old!.

    Hope you all have a great day!.     Love you all.....

    I got a new houskeeper. I want her to stay!  She cleaned, she cleaned all the places the last lady neglected. I feel comfortable with her in the house. I am a happy camper. I wish she could come every week but that isn't going to happen!

    So she did unplug the internet, accidentally. Easy fix though!

    Holly I am sorry about your hip. One thing I did where we used to live was pay some teens from church to do some heavier things. A couple teenagers have lots of energy.

    Hugs Ginger

    Lucy ... good to see you posting again!  I'm glad you found someone to help you.  My hip pain was from the need to have it replaced, which I did.  Just starting to feel good with long pain-free time each day.

    Ginger ... I need to find someone good to clean my small apartment.  The maintenance guy here does clean apartments in his off time but he wants $70.00.  I think that's a little steep - it only takes him about 2 hours.

    We are unincorporated but on the map as part of a Seattle suburb that is home to Microsoft. Lots of services are higher here than they might be in a less prosperous town.

    I am certain that services are less where you have a larger population of potential service providers. We pay a lot for lawn service too.  Really good lawn company, owner is an Eagle Scout. Always hire an Eagle Scout. :)

    Some of the ladies who have been posting on this thread for a while will remember Jane Robert Murphy, who posted on here as Jane_M. Very sadly, Jane passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012.

    Jane's service will be held at Conklins (Valentines) Funeral Home, 37 Park Ave., Millerton, NY. on Friday May 11 from 6-8 pm.

    For those who remember Jane, if you wish to send a Pink Rose to her funeral, you can do so by calling Country Gardeners at 518-789-6440. The roses are $10 for a minimum order of 3 roses, they will have a card and a pink ribbon tied around them. They need to have the order by this Wednesday and they accept Credit Cards.

    I can hardly believe we are doing this for another of our sistahs, we have lost too many.

    Today I decided to have the housekeeper launder the sheets. She changes them so I thought it was a good idea. I can't see a down side at all.   My husband had been throwing them inoto the laundry but then he would make a big wad of them as they came out. Our sheets looked like they had been prewrinkled. lol   I must be getting used to this because I only feel mildly guilty.

    HollyAnn I hope your friend is doing better. Hugs

    hollyann - so sorry about your friend Vivian. Praying for a peaceful and pain-free passing for her, and sending you big comfort hugs.

    Gingerbrew - our housecleaning contract includes changing sheets on the bed, but I haven't taken advantage of that yet. (We have a team of two or three young women that come every two weeks.) I guess it stems from the time I came home from the hospital after my surgery and I was SO OCD about germs! No one touched my stuff except for me or DH.  I can do the laundry, but he helps me make the bed (king-sized).

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Now there are TWO places I've told them not to bother cleaning - my closet, and the "throw-all room" which still has a gazillion boxes of stuff from the carpeting renovation time. And that's not even counting the garage......Undecided
    My one sister can fold sheets just like they come brand new in a package ... she's showed me how she does it but I must be slow because I can't do it!  I generally take the sheets off, wash and dry them and put them right back on - saves folding them at all!
    I am going to have to make a decision about hiring someone to clean my apartment.  I am going to wait until July 4th when I can again bend over (hip surgery).
    Like Blessings ... I need to rid myself of clutter.  Gosh, its so hard to get rid of stuff!  I guess I am secretly a hoarder albeit a neat one.
    I have a no entry note on the door of my sewing room and my husbands cluttered office.   His office because he has so many electronics in there along with cords and various shelves filled with books. My sewing room because it still has so many of our unopened moving boxes, (yes nearly two years now) that contain more of my sewing room supplies along with christmas decor and who knows what else.
     This new cleaning lady cleans but doesn't beautify anything. Old ones did a lot of things to make it look like it was "done" but did less cleaning and of course thieviery. I can do the beautifying myself.
    Ginger ... I only wish I had an extra room to put my clutter!  My aunt used to say she was going to have to go through the junk room because it was starting to crawl out the door!  I did stack my cluter and hid it behind an oriental screen.  At least its out of sight!
    Ginger:   when I sold the house and moved to an apartment, it took me almost a year to sort and box up what I thought I wanted to "store".   After moving, it took over 4 years to go through the boxes and finally get the last one over to my son's house about a month ago.   This got me down to only 3 book cases, with more photo albums and "files" than books.    And I did this all on my own.    Going through my husband's things kept reminding me how much I miss him - 9 years since he died.    Memories are good, but also sad.
    Can I join in?
    I am having a BMX in late June and I am desperately needing motivation to get the house cleaned and organized. Things have gotten a little away from me the past few months and I'm a master procrastinator. My MIL is coming just before the surgery to cook and freeze some meals for us and my mom will be here after the surgery to help me. I'd like for things to be nice and tidy when they come. I like the idea of starting 1 room at a time. I'm going to start with the junk closet. Of course today is my youngest's field day, so I'll start-tomorrow ; )
    New to Posting but loving it so far.   The friendliness amongst you all - nice to see I am not the only one out there feeling exhausted with chemo brain.. etc etc.
    In the words of Maxine:  A Clean House is the sign of a Wasted Life
    That's how I feel today.   I made the bed and that feels a pretty good accomplishment to me.  Also I have noticed that if I open the back door and the front door any dust gets blown away Smile
