Arnie glad to see you're ok. Sorry its not something the docs can fix but hopefully it will ease up on the pain.

Lursa we are thinking about you too. It's so much better when you get finished with the surgery and the worry gets over.

For all you lovely ladies... especially Lursa...will be thinking about you and praying for you tomorrow!

Sharon... I guess some women, like me, just have a hyper-sensitivity to foreign objects...  Oh well, this shall pass too, and one day I'll be able to have them take this thing out!!!  Coonie told me to mark an end date on my calendar...and I'm gonna do that tonight..just so there's light at the end of this tunnel..Smile  I'll tell ya though...I'm so glad you ladies are here!

mom... how you doin'?  I think of you young mom's with kids at home and don't quite know how you do it... you have my adoration.

Hope you all have a lovely evening!

Mom2Two:  Funny you should mention heart valves.  In 2004 my heart stopped.  Two blood vessels were 99% blocked.  They did angioplasty and inserted 3 stents so I am fine now.

Yikes km... so glad you're past that...  my husband had a stent placed too, had a heart attack and can't remember the percentage but we were so blessed that he realized something was wrong and was already in the ER when he had the attack.

I know this is off topic but... my mother (Ruth) had a colonoscopy today and a large polyp was found. It is possible that it is cancerous but we won't know until Thursday for biopsy results. Either way it will need to be removed. My Dad died in 11/07 so she is in the house alone, trying to go thru everyday motions while waiting.  She is a strong woman, but I know she is worried about this. Would you say a prayer for her? Thank you dear sisters.

Arnie and Lursa, sending hugs and prayers your way!

Mom and Sharon, I have heard those tomato tips before.  I have never had to spray my tomatoes.  I guess I am lucky.  They do awesome every year and I feed the neighborhood.  I also make sauce and freeze it for the winter.  My Nana would be proud!!

kmmccraw - wow!  your heart stopped??  I'm so glad you survived!

Elaine Sending prayers to you and your Mom.  I bet your dad is up in heaven looking out for the both of you.  Hugs!

Hello to all my other friends!  Miss you all!

Prayers are made and will continue.  I lazed around per orders not to do any kind of house work until at least Thursday.   Saw a couple of neat animal documentaries on Animal Planet - cute and not too sad.   The banded mongoose one was most interesting.   And some goofy Robin Williams movie that obviously was not a big hit.  Tomorrow I have to go play bridge and get myself out of the apartment for a while.    Hugs and sweet dreams.   Nancy

Lursa- You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Elaine- Prayers said for your mom. I know how scary that one is. My mom had colon cancer (very, very early stage) and was just discharged last week after five years cancer free! I pray that your mom's polyp is benign. (((hugs))) My mom is a widow too. It was very scary for her.

Arnie- Glad you got an answer and it's nothing serious, but sorry you will have to "live with it" too.

I'm early to bed tonight. I'm NPO now until lab work at 8:30. I don't mind not eating but I hate not getting to have any water!! This lab work is for my physical next week, so it's a fasting lab. She also told me I had to give a urine sample. Yeah...nothing in = nothing out!! WinkTongue out

    Good night ladies!

    Hi Gals!

It's midnight here. Just finishing up the last of my gatoraid. No more for me til out of recovery. The nurse said since my surgery is so late in the afternoon I could take my thyroid meds & xanax in the morn. NO COFFEE THO! WAAAH!

Arnie, I'm so sorry your port issue is not going to be resolved. I wonder if you are a squeeky wheel, maybe they have some anti-rejection meds they can write you for? As if the 'regular s/e's aren't bad enough!

I'm anxious to see if mine works tomorrow. I never did like getting IV's so I'm glad to have my port.....assuming it works!

Mom, Arnie, Barbe, Makraz, Maryrose, faith, shiney, Jayne, and all of you have been such a comfort to me. Thank you.

I think I'm over my 5 post probation. I'll not leave for Hospital til 11:30am so I'll probably poke my head in before I go.

There's little or no sleep for me tonight (still waiting for last load of laundry...lol) and I'm smoking my brains out as I'll be quitting tomorrow as soon as I'm checked in.

OH! Jayne! My favorite Brit saying is "Knock me up in the morning, will you?" It ALWAYS gets raised eyebrows!

Hope you all are having sweet dreams!

    xoxo

I KNEW I had to get up in the middle of the night to let you know you are not alone Lursa! You will be in my thoughts all day....please feel my prescence holding your hand all the way through. Hugs at the end....

Elaine, more hugs on this thread for your mom. She is in my prayers.

Arnie, I'm wondering if once they start the process and your body figures out that the port is a good thing it will accept it. Does that sound dumb?

    Sweet dreams to all.

I just looked up hugs on the Internet - no wonder so many of them go out from this site:

"Analysis is the way of the mind, hugging is the way of the heart. The mind is the cause of all diseases, and the heart is the source of all healing."

Lursa once you put those cigarettes down please don't ever pick them up again. I know they call to you like a friend but consider them vipers that will strike you as soon as you do. You have to know the nature of them because it will never change, they lure to kill,  pure and simple, they have no other agenda. Sorry but I just spent part of my day yesterday with one of cigarettes victims and watching a 54 year old man attached to his oxygen and having to ask me to run a test to see if he has enough oxygen to survive another day is just so sad. He has to ask because the cigarettes have damaged his lungs so much they literally become too thickened for the oxygen to pass through like it should and he is slowly smothering. Oh by the way he told me that he has finally quit smoking. I hear it all the time and inside I just shake my head and so wish he could have done that sooner, before the damage was done.  I know this isn't the most pleasant conversation to have before you go into surgery but friend wise one day if you never pick those cigarettes back up and you are able to awake each day with a lung full of pure sweet air you may be looking back at this as something more precious than any get through the surgery well wish I could give you.

Lursa, try to connect any pain and anger at your surgery as connected to your smoking. My FIL did that when he had to spend some time in the hospital for the first time in his life! Scared the shit out of him!

    Hi Gals,

poping in for the 8am report.

Arnie, you're getting ready to head out the door. If you don't see this before you go, please know I am praying for s/e free chemo for you today!

Elaine, I am so sorry about your Mom. Please tell her we are praying for patients and a B9 biop. I read about her late last night and had a vision of her trying so hard to go on as normal w/o your Dad. God and I had a brief conversation about her and I will keep her in my thoughts & prayers.

Sorry I missed you Barbe. I headed over to hulu to watch a few shows. Next thing I knew the birds were singing.

On smoking, it's something I never thought I'd give up or really seriously concidered til my dx. Then, over at the stop smoking thread, webwriter pointed us to an article that stated that for tri-neg cancer, the nicotiene interfears with the drugs' ability to get into the cancer cells by 61%! It became real at that point. Today's the day. I got all my stuff ready. I'll be done with it by the time I start chemo.

Thanks for all your prayers & good thouughts. It'll be fine.

Got 1 more load of laundry to do before I go. Curtains to get the tobbaco smell out.

     I'll be back soon!

    xoxo

Lursa- Many hugs and prayers for you today! We are all there with you!!! Everything will be just fine. They let me take my Xanax on surgery day too and then after I got there they started the good stuff while I waited for surgery. I am completely cheering for you on the quitting smoking!!! You CAN do it!!! It will be one of the hardest things you have ever done, but so worth it! I quit on January 15, 1997 and I don't miss it at all anymore!! Come here when it gets tough. One of us is always around!

Arnie- Thinking of you today too! I hope your treatment is easy with no side effects! (((hugs)))

Still praying for Elaine and Ruth.

I just got home from the hospital and having my lab work. I have a half hour before I go get my hair cut off. Not really looking forward to that, but at least it's summer and the shorter hair will be nice and it's only for a few weeks. Then it will fall out.

The best part of my day has been I saw my first fawn of the year on the way up to the hospital. I live at the lake and we have a huge deer population. I've been on the lookout for babies and finally saw one while I was leaving the house this morning!!

Checking in with you ladies has become so important to me. I couldn't be making it through this without you! Love and hugs to all!! You are all in my prayers.
