Thinking Out Loud.....

Sandy, I am working 7:30 to 3:30 so I can come home and go directly to soccer or whatever the kids are into that day. Days are long, especially with the 2 soccer seasons overlapping. Some games are not played until 9 p.m. YUCK!!!
How are you feeling today?
How is your MH Sheila??
-
I don't think I could handle it if DD still played soccer. One football game or band competition a week is plenty for me. Football game tonight. Once the sun goes down, I expect it will get cold.
I THINK we might have our problems straightened out. Electrician ran a proper wire from the thermostat to the basement and the oil man found that 2 wires had been switched so they were hooked up to the wrong terminals - probably the other day before the other guy realized the wire had been cut - he might have tested them and put them back wrong by mistake. So it worked sometimes, but not others, somehow. I think the hot water problem was either caused by the switched wires as well or because I did 2 loads of laundry. We usually don't run out of hot water- so I'm going with the switched wires. I hope it isn't anything else. I already warned him he might be hearing from me again. I hope not...
I think the insulation in the front of this room wasn't done right. In the winter, I can feel cold air blowing on my feet. There is probably a spot where there is no insulation. I hate contractors.
Poor DD - she's got a football game tonight (wish I could go to it, but we're going to DS's instead- it's cheaper!) AND the national championships (US Bands)at the MetLife Stadium in NJ on Sunday. They won't be getting back to Storrs 'til around 2:30 am or later - then she has class at 8 am at the other campus. She doesn't know whether to come home, sleep for a couple hrs and go to class or sleep on someone's floor for a few hours then come home, shower, and go to class... Tough decision. None are good. Such is the life of a band geek.

Help!!
-
Val, glad you asked because I am just guessing here...
Finally, a sunny day - cool but nice. I do not remember the last time I saw the sun....
So sad to hear about the L.I.er who has no power and no boiler. I do not know how anyone deal with this. Power company hopes to have everyone back by middle of.....next weekWe are on odd/even gas rationing and lines are shorter. I have one of each (cars) so I should be OK.
-
At the football game last night I asked a guy who is an electrician who had been helping the power company get people back online about how things are going in the worst hit places - he said the problems they are still having are that the interiors of homes that were flooded are still wet and you can't energize them until they are dried out. The best conductor of electricity is salt water. I hope everything can dry out fast so people can get back into their homes.
Gas rationing - sounds like the 70's. I wasn't driving then, but I've heard stories.
-
