Thinking Out Loud.....

AC is cranking here too. I hope yours continues to work!!
Already having anxiety attacks about working next week and getting myself to doctors, kids to dentist, 3 days of soccer practice, food shopping, cooking dinners, making breakfast and lunches etc.....mom crap. How do you all do it??? I am envious!
-
I haven't been doing it. I don't know how they do it either. I'm a little afraid of when (IF?!) I get a job, how I'm going to keep this house from falling apart - (worse than it already is, that is) As it is, I'm chasing my college student around - wondering how she is going to survive next year if she lives on campus. She just WON'T plan ahead. " Uh...don't you need to wear that shirt this weekend? When are you going to give it to me so I can wash it...?" I would make her do her own clothes, but it is easier to combine loads. So I wait all week for her to give me her clothes that are all over the house - bathroom, her room, probably in the car... and I did several loads all day yesterday. Can't do that if I'm working.
And I told her today that she needs to go ask the people in the admin office about her summer class that was recorded as non-degree. She says, "Can you call them?" I'm like - no, you need to take care of these things. This is why the school communicates directly with the students. You are supposed to be acting like grown ups and taking care of your own business.
At least I don't have to schlep anyone to sports anymore. I guess you need to find other parents who get out of work early to take them to the sporting event and you bring the kids home? And I have no idea about dinner...
-
Maybe I can get Sheila to send fresh veggies to me for dinner????????? Glad to hear I am not alone, Chris!!
-
Linda..it will take some adjustments...but you'll be fine...in couple of years they start college....
I worked when DD turned 6...she was finally 1st grade....because my mother coudn't handle 2 of them..Christine was 3 then....I started full time 9-6...it was too much 6 months later i went to part time but was able to keep my health Insurance.....job was right around the corner so i could run home or to school if there was an emergency......few years later MH hit me so bad i could no longer work and was hospitalized....Anyway..why am I depressing you people? Hugs♥
Good Luck Linda...I will send you my chicken orzo and lentil soup......
-
Chris..i also did their wash and other things....they get so used to it that it becomes normal......
They take it granted.....
-
Sandy has not been on since Aug 24th.
-
Thanks for sharing Sheila. If you can do it, so can I!! This job is 23 miles away from home. There is NOTHING where I live. It may only last a week, or could go on longer. Who knows.
I hope Sandy logs on soon!
-
AC is spraying again. I covered the floor with towels....I'm frozen but i have to keep it cold just in case...
It's disgustingly humid outside....after Saturday we are going to this nice weather pattern..i hope you'll be all in the same path......
((((((((((((♥♥SANDY♥♥))))))))))))
-
Linda...I worked in the city for 5 days......I thought i was not make it....The job was well paying but i had to take the train every day....You know I can't handle Manhattan and all the crowd.....walk 5 blocks with high heels...it was a torture....
I was very happy working in Woolworth so close by to my house....3 minutes walk......
-
Woolworths sounds perfect! I wish they were still around.
Can you put the AC hose in a bucket or sink?? I remember when we first had central AC installed and I turned it on. I had no idea there was a water hose thing in the basement that was supposed to go through the foundation outside. I turned the AC on and several hours later when into the basement and saw all the water on the floor. I panicked and called DH who told me that was all the water the AC was sucking out of the air, and to put the hose thingy outside. Yes, thats the technical term, hose thingy.
-
It's a window unit...the water drips outside.....
This sprayed water is coming in with the cold air as it's blowing it's misting.....
I don't know ....it's working and my bed is not that close to the AC so bedding is dry.......
-
Good Night Ladies....
Peace to all of us.
-
I hope it keeps working for you Shela. Good night my friend. Sleep well!
-
My AC's drip outside on my flowers.
-
Hope the a/c keeps working through tomorrow at least. years ago I had an air conditioner that would get ice on it. A/C's can do funny things.

I have worked off and on over the years, sometimes full time, sometimes part time. I can't explain it, but it made me more efficient. I had lists and a schedule - I don't have that anymore. Winter is easier because you can crockpot, summer because you can grill and salad, but the rest of the time, not as easy. I kind of wish I hadn't stopped. I provided rhetoric for some political campaigns, non-partisan, issues only. It was fun to be told "make a blurb for the wine and brie crowd and then rewrite it for the seasonal workers and a third version for everyman". Last campaign I did was the pro stem cell campaign - so interesting. But in the campaign world, they want you full time and I couldn't do that anymore so they hired what I call teenagers "just out of college" boys for a lot less money and a lot more hours.
Been fighting a sinus infection for too long - my thyroid got all painful and swollen so they say I have thyroiditis. I could have come up with that as well as the recommendation to take advil and put heat on it.
We haven't had a drop of rain since July 22 - longest period since 1951 before most of you girls were born. The driest August in Seattle history. We just need a few more days to break the all time record.
The family is up at the cabin and attending the Lonestar concert at the winery. I was just feeling too icky to go. Plus, something might come on the market while I am gone. The housing market is gangbusters - we literally can't find anything to buy. We want small and main floor bedroom - is that too much to ask? Oh and no rats.
Thinking of all of you and most of all, right now, Sandy. (((ALL)))

Tonight I'm both excited and a bit sad. Two months before my 62nd birthday I applied for social security and the next day bought Sassy, my purple, 95' Corvette. I have really enjoyed her but She has been getting harder and harder to get out of. The anti-hormonal meds have aggravated my arthritis.
A week ago on the 29th was my 70th birthday. Today I retired Sassy and will miss her but I bought 3 year old Lincoln MKZ. I really do like it and it better fits my needs now than the Vet can,
-
Happy Birthday Chabba!! Ohhhh a 95 Vet and a MKZ!! Both awesome cars!! SOmeday I will buy a 'muscle' car....when the kids are gone and can't ask to borrow it!
Hi Diane, I hope you are feeling better....and find a house. Yeah, no rats would be ideal!
-
Chabba.........Happy Birthday belated................I know how you feel.......my son had a 1985 white Corvette, and traded that in for a brand new 1988 Yellow Corvette convertible.........he loved that car, kept it gorgeous, and had it till 2011 when he sold it for $4,000............still beautiful..........this is the son with the "bitch" wife who left him with 4 kids...............but I digress....................He then bought a 2009 Mercedes, which the "bitch" now has, and he now ownes a magenta colored convertible BMW.............I told him he was nuts to let the "bitch" have the Mercedes, but he doesn't listen, so its his headache.....he just stopped paying the insurance on it......Tell me he's not nuts......
My son-in-law has a silver 2010 Corvette convertible.........my daughter and the kids call it "his baby"........it is in the garage, covered, with a battery charger constantly plugged in...............while my daughters Ford Escape sits in the driveway.......lol...................he also has a Dodge Ram (construction worker), but honestly, he treats all their vehicles like "gold"...................truely takes care of them all.........when they are sold, or go back for the lease return they look brand new.
So I can understand you sentiment for "Sassy"............hugs.
-
Duckey, my BIL loves his cars too. Even his first one, which we bought for him in 69 when he was in college. It was an older VW bug. When he graduated and got his first job as a pharmacist in 74 he bought a 6 month old, off lease, 911S signature edition Porshe which he drove as his secondary car until he sold it in the early 90's. Kept that car immaculate. It still looked like new! The bug he replaced in 85 with a new toy truck (Toyota pickup) which we bought in 89 when he got a Toyota Forerunner. Since then he and his wife have driven BMW's, he sports cars, she sedans, and have also kept some kind of 4-wheel to tow the horse trailers. That is until last month when he imported a custom Audi from Germany.
The Porshe was tittled as a new caar as it only had 3000+ miles on it so the only "used car" he has ever owned is the one we gave him.
-
Happy Birthday chabba...I don't know much about the cars but i can relate to sentimental values.....♥
Diane....i hope you feel better soon and you find that Little House on the prairie very soon
Ducky...We all have a nice nickname for those who don't even deserve to have a regular name......♥
AC is back to normal...i think he was having MH issues.....It doesn't spray me and it looks very dry...i had 2 towels on the floor and they were both dry this morning
It's raining horses and zebras (my version)
Sending some your way Diane
OK...Coffee time (((((TOL)))))

Chabba...........is this ironic.........I have another son who bought an "apple red Porshe" in 1985. This is a funny story......He graduated HS in 1981.......got a great deal and lots of money for football from one of the Universities in Pa.........went to football camp, for 2 weeks, said this is a business game now, and not fun, and decided to not go to college at all........his father was a Union carpenter, so he asked if he could become a Carpenter Apprentice, which he did, and finished 4 years, and became a Journeyman carpenter.............after graduating Apprenticeship school he decided to buy a car.......he bought a gorgeous black 1984 Camaro z28................after 2 weeks of ownership he was broadsided by a woman, and she destroyed his car, thank God, not him..................the insurance company said it could be fixed......they did, and it never ran the same........well anyway, he decided to get rid of it, and went car hunting again, taking his older brother ................................came home with a 1985 Porshe..............I said............are you nuts.........$28,000 for a car, (yet I was driving a $22,000 Cadillac Eldorado)......great example, right..............well anyway.........he loved the car, kept it beautiful, and again...........it was his baby...............today that son is married, with a lovely wife...............4 great kids.......2 in Franklin and Marshall college in Pa., and a daughter who is 6th in the state of Pa. in track and field, and a wonderful 13 year old boy.............he is blessed................and the best of all...............no college degree, and is a self made millionaire...........so there is something to be said for "they have to have a college degree to be someone today"....................He owns his own company, and is still working today as a Union carpenter...............2 of my other children have degrees, and do very well...............the other 2 no degree, but great positions............life is good...........then their is the son with the "wife bitch", and he has problems no one would want.........but that is another story......and a sad one..........
So again we have more then BC in common.....we have great kids who love nice things.............lol
-
My area is under tornado warning.....what should I do/
Pretend I didn't hear the news or hide in a closet?
-
Hide in the closet with sam. Be safe!
-
Warning expires at noon....now we are under watch until 9 pm
-
Are you coming out of the closet, Sheila? Happy Belated Birthday Chabba! Can't keep track of how many kids you have Ducky
-
Yes...the sun is shining now.....
weather is having MH issues
So are you enjoying the quite home? Feeling better/
i'll send you some chicken soup too.
Hugs♥
-
I am enjoying the quiet home
Realized I am spoiled that my DH makes me coffee in the morning.
-
Rain.............. I have 6, 3 boys, 3 girls...................54, 53, 52, 48, 46, 43.........18 grandchildren...from twins 29, down to 11 years old, and twin great-grandaughers........believe it or not, they are the children of one of the 29 year old twins...............both grandaughter, and great-grandaughter are identical twins.........very unusual is what they told us..............so we have a full family..............
-
Happy belated Birthday, Chabba!
I can only wish my kids could be that successful someday.
I agree, weather is having MH issues. We were at the football game today - band was good, team lost
- and the weather couldn't make up its mind - sunny, then lightly raining, then sunny and raining, repeat. And windy too - trash was flying all over the place. Can't complain though. At least it didn't storm and when it rained, it rained only briefly. Too bad the team lost. But only by 3 so I suppose that's not too bad.
Hope you are done with the bad weather, Sheila. It is on its way here. Hope it dies out before it gets to you in Mass, Deb and Linda.
