LIFE'S A BEACH!

Meecie, dear one.
That's some snazzy collection you have there! The photo I took was in our local Hobby Lobby and I turned the corner and loved the rainbow stripes of the generic colors on parade.
I'm safely in my digs for the night, actually I'll be here for these two nights. The conference is all the way 'downtown' and they are running shuttle buses back & forth to these out-lying hotels. So I'm not done dragging around these suitcases yet.
On the short hop flight from Chicago I sat next to a presenter flying in from South Africa. She has never been to the states before & her only impression will be this conference & Springfield, IL. She flies back to Africa just as soon as it's done.
We yakkkkkkkkkked every minute of the time. I told her that I "expect" an invite to her country and she said "absolutely" without missing a beat. She's happy to open her home to me in fact. As long as I have a passport I might as well get it stamped, right?

and you do like to fly , Faith
-
Oh my goodness, Faithie! What a blessing! The children there are sooooo grateful for anything Western. I have seen footage of children in a long line so delighted with being given stickers. When the adhesive wore off, they walked around holding the stickers to their clothing. I know what happiness you would bring there.
-
and I do have my book, "Tall Girafffe" which would be the ultimate to take to Africa...........
These invites start with a seed.
I have her email addres.
Anything is possible.
She works for their Department of Education as an inservice trainer..... so there could genuinely be a match made in heaven (or concocted by a certain saint: LOL!)
In our gab-a-thon we each shared a story of how meeting a 'stranger' changed the itinerary at hand...... all for the best.
Such fun to even consider........................
-
Good morning Beachettes. There's nothing like a cuppa on the beach.
Edit to add~I'm sure it's Irish coffee.
-
yummy Sharon..
-
An beach in Ireland on St Patricks day
-
OMG thanks so much and it looks like I need to go to old navy to get some flip flops, am so addicted have 35 pair or so......HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!!
-
Faith I absolutely looooove that airplane story. I've had some cool experiences on planes when sitting with strangers (for a few minutes anyway!) but that tops all. You just keep having all these jaunts so I can travel vicariously through you, okay?? Safe travels home dear.
The pictures, of course, are the best as always. Lisa, my hub has been known to stop a car going 55 mph when he sees a stranded turtle on the side of the road, so that was one of my favorites! We've fostered many over the years, always returning them to some body of water or another depending on their size.
See you all tomorrow night kids when it will be ... wait for it ... yup - Friiiiiiday
-
Marlegal forgot to tell you I waived at your trailer while driving down 47....turtles are my favorite had them as kids and my grandaughter has them in her room, love them...
-
What a GREAT day.
Long, exhausting. Delightful!!!!
This was such a wonderful opportunity.
The conference was a fantastic mish-mash of participants: PreK, K and then a delightful group of primary teachers, reading specialists, librarians and on & on!
I'm attempting to upload a video shot -- of the participants filmed demonstrating the sign language to support my new book. Slow goin'
I fly back to FL tomorrow..... stopping at every airport between here and there.
Do to spring break it was unbelievably expensive to fly INTO Florida. Flying out was only 20% or returning. With luck I'll be in FL by midnight. Then 90 minutes to home.
It's time to launch our Friday party.....................
-
TGIF!! Welcome home Faith!!
-
Happy Friday Beachettes
-
My third grandson, George, was born Wednesday night at 10:31. 7 lbs, 13 oz of healthy baby. Pics will follow when I get some!
-
Congratulations Barbe!!!
-
In Waikiki, I actually saw a show that sold only flip-flops, but they were high end ones and I didn't get a photo. Who would think there was such a market.
-
They're probably not called flip-flops a the higher end....I love the beaded ones....sigh!
-
Oh gosh! Sharon's done got me looking at baby feet!!!!!!
Congrats Barbe on #3!!!! Nothing cuter than baby feet WITH flip flops:):)
-
oooooooo, I wanna gently pinch baby fat rolls!
-
Congrats on Grandson #3 Barb! Mmmm three little chubby bubbies to cuddle.......have fun with each and every one!
-
-
You will like me then Coonie. Im chubby
-
LOLOL Sheila!! All I have to do to see chubby, is look in MY mirror. For some reason, most people don't think chubby old ladies are too cute
Doesn't seem right to be.......I mean, chubby is chubby no matter how you look at it.
-
I'm with you on that Coonie!

Hi. If you receive a private e-mail from Beth1225, please be advised that it's a SCAM. Someone stole her Verizon address book and contacted many people via e-mail like myself. Please read down below. Beth is home and she is fine and never went to London. Thanks.

Subject: Oh My God............BethHi,
I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, sorry I did not inform you about my trip.I actually made a quick trip to London and unfortunately attacked and mugged at gun point on the way to my hotel, all cash, credit card and cell were stolen off me but luckily I still have my passport with me but I`ve been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and my return flight leaves anytime from now but I`m having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let me leave until I settle the bills.
I have nothing left on me right now but am very lucky to have my life and passports with me, it would have been worst if the muggers had made away with my passports. All i need now is just $2,450 USD, You can have it wired to my name via any Western Union Outlet around you... I'll have to show my passport as ID to pick it up here and i promise to pay you back as soon as I get back home hopefully today. Here is my info where you will wire the money to:
Name: Beth
Address: 6 Albemarle Street, London W1S 4HQ, United Kingdom
Amount: $2,450 USD
As soon as it has been done, kindly get back to me with the western union confirmation number... I'll def refund your cash as soon as i get home.
Sorry for the inconvenience
I owe you alot
Regards. -
I've seen that scam from many people...sorry Beth got hit. I did get the email and wrote to Beth privately to let her know it was going around in case she didn't know.
Barbe, wooo hooo and major congrats on George's arrival. As I've said many times before, I'm jealous and envious of all your grandmothers ... I hope and pray my time will come. I'm more than ready! Not sure if I missed a St. Pat's party in the room or not since I don't come much during the week, but I'm here now, and it's Friday, and just one day past my Irish holiday, so here's my contrib for this week
Not a standard for the beach site perhaps, but I think we're allowed to digress occasionally!
-
