HOLY CRAP - Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson die on the same day - WOW
-
NO way.. Michael Jackson too?
-
Yes Michael too, I guees from what they are saying heart problem
-
Ed McMahon earlier this week so that would be the third death.
I have never had a PET scan. How do you determine if you need one? Doesn't sound like fun.
-
AND that scientist from the South Pole if I understand Kathi`s blog properly...or was that old news?
-
So true, Barb. I think the other 3 are "Hollywood" people.
-
Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcet died today and Ed McMahon died yesterday!........And yes you read righ..MICHAEL JACKSON the King of Pop is dead!!!!......
-
My understanding of PET scan: You are given isotopes then must be absolutely still while it settles throughout your body. This is because activity of any kind increases metabolic rate in muscles, etc. The PET scan identifies areas of increased metabolic activity. It will show recent injuries, arthritis, areas of infection, and cancer. The trick for the radiologist is to figure out which is which. Every area that lights up is not necessarily cancer. It is highly sensitive. So sensitive that it's very difficult to read and many doctors feel it gives too many false readings both ways.
After my surgery, I had a bone scan and a combined CT/PET scan. The bone scan was fine, but the other scan showed up every tiny lymph node, bruise--you name it. The radiologists deemed most things to be fine and referred me for an ultrasound to confirm the ones where there was slight concern.
Glad it's over for you, Cathi. So sorry that UB couldn't tolerate it. It's no fun.
Hugs to all...Judie
-
Judie - you are absolutely correct about the PET scan. Bill had taken 2 xanax beforehand but it just didn't do the trick. I still think he took them to late.
-
Yesterday my husband was sleeping (did an all nighter driving to TX Monday night slept Tuesday afternoon and drove Tuesday night back to Memphis), when he woke up at 7:00 pm he thought one of the other truckers was joking with him about Michael dying. He knew that Farrah wasn't doing well and was expected to die. Then when he called me and I told him he realized that Moonshiner wasn't bulls**ting him. And Barbe the doctor who diagnosed herself while in the South Pole died Tuesday.
My doctor hasn't had me doing any sort of scans (I was node negative). But the ladies in the local support group talk about doing their scans and results of the scans.

Your right Judie about the PET showing everything, my BS ordered my first after the biopsy came back positive and before she did the lumpectomy in 06, it showed 3 enlarged axillary nodes, well she removed 6 with excisional @ time of Lumpectomy but they were all negative, so hopefully the PET was just over sensative and she got the right ones, always has me wonder a bit as I have read and heard the normal # of nodes removed is 10+.
I watched the special last night Barbra Walters taped last week with Ryan Oneil and Jaclyn Smith about Farrah, how sad, I did not know both Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson had breast cancer a few years back.
-
I didn't know that either!
-
Hi girls!!
Well...got a little bug yesterday..sore throat, headache..and tired. Woke up today feeling not much better. But I had soooo much to do. My sister Mary is in from Arizona..she came over and was a HUGE help!! God love her! We got almost everything done today...not much left to do tomorrow except for picking up some things and the last minute stuff. Heading to bed to rest up!
xoxo
Lisa..remember party starts at 3pm!!!
-
Lisa hope you are feeling better, have a wonderful party. We have Brandt's 1St B'day party today @ 1PM (his B'day is 7/1) it is at his other G'ma's house, thank goodness 20 kids and adults, I am not up to hosting all that, so just helping with details, Alexcis and I made goodie bags last night for all the kids,
HAVE A GREAT SATURDAY EVERYONE.
XOXOXOXOXOX

What a week its been! So sad to hear about all the deaths in Hollywood and the world people. I can not imagine going thru all of that and having all played out in the news for everyone to comment on. I would make a bad public figure cause I really value my privacy and honesty!!
Hugs to everyone, hoping all tests and scans come back good.
This week- lets see....big celebration on Saturday was lovely, my sister & bil came up and stayed with us for a few days, dd graduated from high school on Wednesday, Moms surgery on Monday went well and I have been going in daily to visit. For a while the doctor thought the polyp was cancerous, in fact he was convinced based on its appearence and sent section of colon and a bunch of nodes for biopsy. Yesterday we learned it is NOT cancer. Big sigh of relief. She will be in hospital a few more days until everything is working properly. DD just left for camp where she is coaching at her beloved gymnastics camp in Pa for the summer. The weather has been CRAZY, seem to cover the range every day. I hope things quiet down a bit. I did not realize how tired I would be with all this extra activity & worry. All I want to do is stay in my pjs, napping on and off. Getting back to my routine, soon, soon. Off to shower and visit Mom. DH is coming w/me today and I think we will also stop and have a quiet lunch. Then NAP TIME...no house work for me today. DH & DS have already done dishes, some laundry, picking up latest round of downed branches....they are so good to me
Hugs & prayers

Hi Sisters xxx
I will go and read back. Just in from a busy work day but wanted to post these 2 articles I read in the Telegraph.. a british newspaper
Thinking of you all xxxx
-
-
Oh hurrrrr hurrrrrr you will have to cut and paste the addresses ...I just do not know how to post links!!! Also my internets is slow slow slow .. xx
-
Sue, the first article says that normal breast cells traveling through the body can turn into cancer. So, if I've had a double mastectomy then I have no breast cells to travel, right? I done good!
-
Hahahahaha ...you done good !!! An I have done half good ...
I am sure we must have every mixed cell everywhere in our body though ... maybe its just the fact if its switched on...
Besides that we done good !
YES BOOTFACE !! WE KICKED YOU SO HARD YOU WITHERED AWAY INTO A HELLS PLACE WHERE YOU WILL BURN FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

Oh, Cathi! That is the best of the best photos I've seen of a first birthday. Brandt is a doll! I could just eat him up...especially covered in birthday cake.
My baby boy will move to China the day after his third birthday August 17, so I won't be able to entertain everyone with Connor photos. You'll have to take up the slack, grandma!
-
Oh Judie we'll miss Connors pictures, he's a doll baby too, I do tend to take tons of pictures, actually Ed is worse than me, he just clicks-clicks away. G'ma #2 (I'll always be #1 -LOL) hosted this one, I'm glad, helped with food and goodies, but glad I didn't have the clean-up this time. Jaclyn's apartment is pretty small so one of us usually gets the pleasure. But it's ok. The local market here makea a single serve free cake if you order a 1st B'day cake.
We'' we have a small tropical storm coming our way this week, looks like now just a major rain maker, we need rain, hope it's cleared out by the 4th though.
HAPPY SUNDAY ALL - XOXOXOXOXOXO
-
Cathi what a great picture ..Brandt is so edible and the cake looks delicious ! What a fantastic idea to do a single serve for 1st Birthday. He is gorgeous and you are Number One! xxx
Judie no more Connor photos ... oh my goodness... what will I doooo I love all your pictures... you will have to ask his mum to send some.. but I did like Connor and his grandmas lovely antics!! I guess you will miss him so much... I do hope he will visit xxx
-
Cathi, I was wondering how y'all got a piece of cake...what a great idea!
-
Yes the single serve cake is such a great idea, and it is really quite large too, and completely free for 1st B'days, they don't even jack up the price on the one you pay for.
-
I LOVE that he's still sucking on the lollipop the whole time though! hehehehehehehe
(Kinda like playing in the box the toy came in.)
-
I don't think he ate a bit of the cake except for what was on the lollipop. I swear (and not because he is my grandson) but he is the happiest and most content baby I have ever seen, and have been around many. He just does not cry, of coarse he has once or twice, but even Jaclyn is amazed, she's like mom - he's always happy, and he is. Alexcis was a good baby too, but Brandt's got her beat. I think he will grow up to be a mellow low key man.
