Pretty cool, Towhee. My 13 year old son won't "friend request'. We joke about it all the time but he tells me 'it aint going to happen'. My kids love me and want there Mom off Facebook!
-
Well, my dh just called. A client from his work gave him tickets to a Mariner's game on Wednesday. The seats are in a heated suite and dinner is included. He wanted to make sure I'd go since I'm mad at him. I wasn't going to say no--it means I don't have to cook dinner. What the heck.
Judie, I just remembered your offer to come with me to my CT scan and MRI appt. You are such a sweetheart! I don't doubt that you'd come all the way down here to support me. What a wonderful friend you are! The actual procedures aren't causing me anxiety, but the follow-up appt with my onc will. I may just ask you to come with me for that! Love you, Judie!
Sheila, I hope you don't have LE. I was so stupid---I got a compression garment specifically for when I fly and I forgot to put it on when we went to Vegas.
Love and hugs to all,
Karen
-
Linda, my daughter tells me I'm too old to have a FB!! Isn't that rude? She only has a MySpace account, not a FB. If I joined MySpace, she would absolutely DIE!
Hugs,
Karen
-
I joined just to keep track of my son! Aren't I a great mother. I have met so many great people on it, though. I have several FB friends that are from BC.org. We chat all the time. Isn't that funny??? Like I don't spend enough time online here!
Have fun at the game Wed night and enjoy NOT cooking dinner!
-
Karen you sit there like a queen and get everyone to serve you! I've been in private booths, they're wonderful! What are you going to wear? You have to wear something to distract the other men from the game so your not-so-DH will get jealous
As for Facebook, my goodness! My family is all over North America, it's the only way we communicate. I posted my cancer diagnosis and mastectomy on FB. I even had some pre and post op pictures for my family to enjoy the experience with me....

Here's a pic of Chase with his cousins on Easter.
Look at all the eggs he found!!
Hugs,
Karen

Ahhh and there are 4 more behind him!!! What a great looking bunch. I miss the crowds at holidays, we always had a hoard of cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. I am only one w/children, sister and bil live in Virgina, brother (and almost) sil live in Vermont, me, family and mom live in NJ. Wonderful holidays but on the quiet side these days. OMG just heard thru grapevine that brother is getting married this Friday! How cool. It is really small: them, 2 moms and minister, party here sometime this summer. She is just the sweetest and he is so good when they're together. Happy day.
Judie, We have always figured out a way to get things done, and will get through this as well. Feel really bad for dh, actually worry about him, so much stress, some he can control but so much he can not. In a good way (?) business is not related to economy but is just a down cycle. Kids are really good students, ds has partial scholarship, this coming yr we will actually be able to get $ in financial aid/grants etc. All the schools dd is considering are offering pretty good scholarships in addition to grants etc. Thankfully it will only be one 1 with 2 in college.
Sheila- so sorry to hear about arm, hoping it is not significant. Karen, thinking about you and the scans etc. Waiting afterwards is the hardest part. Hang on girl, enjoy the game!
-
Cathi- we just got similar letter, copays up to $50 for specialist, but stayed at $30 for GP. Luckily I only see onc every other month now, but dd is at orthoped pretty often. This insurance thing really gets me. We spend so much to get and keep it but....So far we have been pretty luck with them re the cancer.
Give Ed a big hug, or maybe give Big Ed a hug? They are so sweet to try and keep "it" secret or out of the house. However moms and wives see everything.....I wish dh would share more often, we're in this together, its not his burden alone....

Elaine -Insurance the necessary evil, I was on Cobra for 18/mo I thought that was bad, this is worse, but I love my work from home job, and honestly with all the things going on in my life the past years, I honestly don't know how I would manage a REAL JOB - I guess you just make do, do what you have to, the month of April is always slow for cars, but unfortunetly every month has been slow for quite awhile, he sold a really good one a few months back, but it's not like you can take that LUMP of money and spend it- it has to be spread out through the months/year. His Copay didn't go up, just the premiums, that really bugs me -some how I would rather pay a larger DR copay than the premium, just seems like maybe that way your "getting something" weird I know.
Karen the pic's are great.
I have a FB account -love it, so much easier to share stuff with friends and family, (I know Linda I got your PM -just slow these days - I'll be friend you soon -promise -xoxoxoxoxo)
Have a good night all - xoxoxoxoxox

Hi ALL,
Just a quick pop in for me.
Karen - the pictures are adorable.Take Barbe's advice when you go to the game -it's perfect. When are you going for your tests?
Judie you are going to be one worn out grammy, a cool one though! Enjoy that adorable child!
I am right there with you ladies about health care costs - mine goes up every year. grrrr.
Sheila- so sorry you have swelling - nip it in the bud!!
Gotta run,
AE
-
Karen - great pictures! What a handsome bunch of kids!!
Cathi - no hurry, believe me I know you are busy!
AE still keeping you both inmy prayers. Hope UB is feeling well.
Sorry to hear about the high copays. I assume you know you can get many meds for pretty cheap at Walmart, CVS and other stores. Could that help you out at all? I thinkk all our meds should be free!! It's bad enought that we have to go through this!
EWB congrats on the new family member! SHe sounds sweet! Glad you like her.
Hugs to all!
-
Hey, Barbe, Cathi, and Linda! If you feel comfortable doing so, PM me your full names so I can look you all up and invite you to be my friends. Judie, Sue, AE, Ulla, and Mouse are my friends on FB too!
-
Oh! And Jane too!!
-
And if anyone would like to be FB friends, PM me too. I think we need to start a new FB group called "sistahs'or something like that so we can all find each other!

Well, the doctor doesn't seem to think that it is LE, she hasn't seen it in just one small spot. I did ask for a referral to the local LE clinic and she agreed to that. It was after hours so they will be setting it up tomorrow. For now when I am watching TV, my arm is on a pillow.
Sheila
-
Good luck Sheila. I hope your arm will feel better after a rest. My doc thinks I have nerve damage from the SNB. It's been 6 months and it's slowly getting better. I need to rest my arm alot and it seems to help.
-
Wow...I didn't know so many of us were on FB! Our own group would be great!
-
Sueps...You don't necessarily have the BC gene if your mother had breast cancer. My Mom had BC when I was a Freshman in highschool and she was 49 then. She is still alive and cancer free since it happened around 25 years ago.
I was just diagnosed with BC on March 17 and I am only 37 with 3 kids...one of which just turned 7 months when I found the lump while nursing her. I was tested for the BRCA 1 and 2 test and both came back negative...which is a VERY positive thing.
The waiting for the test results is the worst part of everything about the BC, IMO. Xanax has became a very good thing to have on hand while waiting these results. It has saved my sainity while waiting...and my family from seeing me flip out as much.
I don't know what else to say except take one day at a time and I know that BC has been a blessing in one way, because it has made me cherish each day that I do have and has made me ignore the petty little things...realizing that each little hug that I get is a blessing in and of itself.

Just heard some tornados hit the Tampa area - Cathi - check in please!!!
-
CHECKING IN - yes we have had a mighty wild ride here in the area today, no real damage here on the coast line, lots of tree limbs and lawn debris flying around, but not far away several tornados have touched down and caused damage, our power has been off and on all day, we are in a terrible drought and need the rain but not this crazy weather. Thanks for checking on me AE, Wednesday brings sunshine and warm temps again. YEAH!!!!
-
oh my....missed several days...and so much to catch up on!!!
I tried..but at work..and didn't get to read it all.
Some points I remember!
Karen...dang that husband of yours!!! I hope your scans come back ok.
Mel......MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So...you all had a PARTY and I wasn't there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to get on more often.
Cathi....wishing all the best to you and your daughter.
Face Book...my daughters would not care at all if I joined...esp. Danni..since she is 25! I just don't want too...cause I would be on the computer more than I am already!!
I have tons of scrapbooking to still do...about 12 years worth
Check in later!
Love to all of you!

Cathi...are you closer to Orlando or Tampa airport? Or Sarasota?
Olivia flew out of Tampa on Saturday to come home...the agents (that work for my company) were so incredibly rude to her! I was ready to fly down there and give someone a piece of my mind! GRRRRRRRRRRRR
Sheila...sorry about the start of lymphodemia.
My ps has a different view on all of the lympho...he says the more we exercise it..the better off we are. hmmm. Karen...I fly all the time and never use a sleeve and never have a problem.
Mel...I didn't color eggs..I should have. Olivia loves hard boiled eggs..and I love egg salad!
Had a date last night...went well...we sat and talked for 4 hours!!! anyhow...he is very very sweet and kind. You can tell, a real gentle soul. His name is Mike. Not sure about a "spark" but I will definately go out with him again!
xoxo

Lisa I am closer to Tampa , then we also have Clearwater / ST Pete which is on this side of the Bay , but that just has a few airlines (smaller ones ) that fly out and in. But it's NICE because we can fly on Allegiant non-stop to PA (Allentown) when we visit Ed's sister. You should give those agents a piece of your mind. I hate TIA, as much as I have used it, I still get so confused with all their "color codes", the dam tram to take you to flight/baggage, and parking FORGET IT!!! Good luck wih the date thing Lisa.
Jaclyn sees GYN tomorrow at 1PM guess we will have more info then. Thanks for everyones wishes.
-
Prayer are with Jaclyn (and you Cathi) tomorrow.
-
Cathi - glad you are safe.
Hi Lisa!!! Good luck with the man hunt.
-
Prayers going out to Cathi and Jaclyn. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
Hi Lisa!!!!!
Hugs to all,
Karen
-
Collette - You have a great attitude! I admire that.
Nice to hear from you Lisa. Good ddates and great! I hope the second one is better than the first!
-
Hi sweet girls, we are doing okay, we are painting a bathroom. It is hard to believe we sold our big house, moved downtown to a condo, got rid of TONS of junk, and it is 12 years later and things need painting and my "new" washer and dryer are wearing out! Somehow I thought I was done.
Oh well, hugs to all, Shirlann
-
Cathi & Jaclyn - keeping you in my thoughts & prayers for tomorrow.
Lisa - Mike sounds nice! I hope you have another great date with him soon.
Sheila, not all doctors are open to the whole LE thing - especially after SNB. Yet, nearly all the women from my support group have had at least a few symptoms - from a tingling, heavy feeling to obvious swelling. I overdid things over Easter - scrubbing down walls and painting and my arm has been playing up ever since. I hope your arm is feeling better. Have you made an appointment with the LE specialist? Even if the swelling has gone down it would be a good idea to go and get baseline measurements.
Nettie - how are you feeling?
Cheryl - hope you are feeling better.
Fumi - miss you around here!
Shirlann - where does the time go? Appliances and home maintenance - the first never lasts and the second is never finished!
UB & AE, Linda, Karen (love the Easter pics!), EWB, Judie, Barb, Jule, Sue, Wren, Debbie, everyone...
Love to you all

I am still waiting on the call from the doctor's office with my appointment at the LE clinic. Even though I am trying to keep it raised in the evening and not hand quilting as much the swelling hasn't changed that much since I noticed it on Sunday. I am trying to do all the things that Binney suggests on the LE thread while I am waiting for the appointment. I told John last night (he said it was swelled when I showed it to him) that if I didn't hear from the doctor's office this afternoon, I was going to call and find out why I haven't gotten an appointment yet.
I am still using it some, I still need to use the computer at work, and am using the squeeze ball at work several times a day with my hand over my head to try and get the fluid moving. but my hand is still tingly. The compression garments help move the fluid along while you are moving your hand/arm but I don't have the garments (yet). I have never flown but when my mom went to HI in 2004 to see John after he was stationed there, she didn't wear a garment on her one arm and did fine.
Shirlann, When I moved in my house 18 yrs ago, the roof was new, it is now leaking, I was going to repaint my bedroom and it is still the horrid royal blue with light blue trim. I replaced the water heater last summer and my stove is ancient and needing replaced, I aggree with geebung, appliances never last and repairs are never completed.
Sheila
