HOW DID YOU KNOW I WAS DIVING IN A HOT BATH EVERY MORNING AND NIGHT

Thats not suppsoe to be good for lymphedema!!!
Did you read this -
If you develop a new and relatively sudden case of lymphedema, seek immediate medical attention. Infection, also called cellulitis, is your enemy, a prime trigger of edema. Cellulitis is readily and effectively treated by many available and reasonably priced antibiotics, including penicillin, Keflex, and Cipro. A short-term course of antibiotics usually has minimal side effects.
Start antibiotics under the direction of your physician. Call your doctor's office during the day, or page your doctor at night or on the weekend if necessary, to get the prescription. (Have handy the phone number of a pharmacy you know will be open.) Be sure to let your doctor know if you have any allergies to antibiotics.
Without prompt treatment, an infection can spread up your arm and cause significant swelling. Eventually, if an infection isn't treated, it can get into the bloodstream and involve the rest of your body. It can even become life threatening.
Cover burns with Silvadene cream and a clean dressing; periodically cleanse, and reapply the cream and bandage. Keep any cuts or abrasions clean: Wash the area two to three times a day with a solution that's half peroxide and half water, and apply antibiotic ointment and a bandage.

OMG AE thankyou for this...I never in my life thought I would get an infection from my colds either but obviously I did... thankyou ...this is def what I have and I am definitely going to the docs...see also if I can get some bone tabs...strong ones xxxxxxxxx

I read a sisters post bout ear infection and cold and how it didnt go away and got really bad...I also read to massage the neck and places .... but I now realise my drainage is not as it used to be... and it only sank in with these colds xxx
-
Good - I'm glad you're going.
They might want to do a bone scan - all you do is lay on a table - very easy. Try Vitamin D too!
Lova ya!!

When I have been driving my bad shoulder blade can burn for days... its all related...
With the bone pain..I read when ya hit 40 ya need to have a full time job that is isnt as much standing cos ya bones are not young.... only chemo has made this double worse for my age and job.
If I could get the bone pain under control WITHOUT pain meds it would be cushdy ...so thats my next thing to do xxx

Sue, I hope you listen to AE and get yourself to the doc and it would be great if you could see a LE specialist. Having had LE mildly (it has been so much better the last 6 months) I think it would be horrible to have a worse dose of it. Getting it attended to in the early stages is so important.
Repetitive work, hot baths/showers/washing up in hot water, any trauma to the surgery-side arm, insect bites, cuts, all put you at risk of developing lymphoedema. Surgery to the breast itself and radiation can be all it takes to develop LE. Removal of nodes adds to this risk and of course the more nodes you have removed, the greater the risk.
Karen, I hope your day out distracted you from sadness and worry. Love you curls - you look gorgeous!
Sheila - praying that your MIL will continue to do well. Colon bootface is one of the most curable. I have two first cousins who have had it (one early, one not so early) and both are doing extremely well (one of those cousins had it about 20 years ago).
Judie - I think the quilt made out of your son's shirts is a beautiful idea. What better way to remember him. I love paisley shirts - so bohemian!
Leesa - I hope you are able to get some relief for your pain and I hope your flu gets better quickly.
Love to you all and also to Suecco, Fumi, UB & AE, Shirlann, Nancy, Lisa, Cheryl, Shari, Mel, Cathi, Suebee, Ann, Nets, Kaloni, Jule, Dawn, Debbie, Susan, Keymic, AWB and everyone.

Well I have finally been downloading and arranging pictures that are way over due. Here is one from the Haloween Party right before the big MX day. (My daughter would be so mad if she knew I was posting this pic) Don't tell..

-
You're so cute, Cathi!!! The pictures are great! I want to party with you one day. You are such a fun person!
Thanks, everyone, for being so supportive during this difficult time. I miss my little Tinkerbell so much. It's an actual physical ache. I really hate this, but I know she's in a much better place and eventually the hurt will go away and I can think of the good times. She was a pretty funny little dog. I wish I had videos of her chasing the golden retrievers, grabbing their tails and pulling out huge clumps of fur. It used to make us laugh so hard! I'm sure she and Boomer (our golden who passed away three years ago) are together again, and she's chasing him through green fields.
Sheila, I'll continue to pray for your MIL.
Love and hugs,
Karen

Karen loosing a pet is no easy thing, happy memories will make it just a tad easier. Thanks for the compliment, I hate the "Tipsy" pic, but what the heck, I just realized it's the last photo's I have of the "girls" as you can tell, they weren't all that overwhelming to begin with. LOL.
XOXOXOXOXOXO- Cathi

I agree, great pictures Cathi, and yes, I too want to party with you someday! We need a big party!
-
Well girls, God willing we have our annula Haloween Party - Start planning.
-
Cathi, The pictures are so cute. I hope everyone is feeling better.
Sue, I'm glad you are feeling better. Jane thank you for the well wishes.

Cathi - love the photos - you look fabulous!

Hi All
Sue - be careful what pills your popping without checking with onc or bc nurse! even the most innocent looking ones can be a no-no! I too have an allergic reaction to the DRs door but simple paracetamol/coedine could be all your achey bones need!
And get yourself acessed by the lymphodima nurse, and get a sleeve before you end up with a sausage arm!!! I got mine just as it started and have in under control and dont wear the sleeve now - so dont wait much longer!!
OK lecture over!! Im another UK sue!!
Hugs to you all

Hi Nets here
FEC has kicked in and I'm really wiped out. I am to get a daily jab from nurse to 'fool' the chemo to attack these 'fake' cells as well as the chemo as the FEC regime is agressive, because my tumour is so agressive.
Bad news is that the lymph bio showed 2 out of 5 nodes were invaded so when I get the lump/mast (depending on the tumour shrinkage) I will have all of the lymphs removed as a precaution. Disappointing as they seemed clear under ultrasound. I am now beginning to feel that I am unwell. Have had some vomiting - a ittle - and have the taste in the mouth - that you can't escape.
On other matters ..
Sweet Sue - glad you are back, so worried. You can now advise me on lymph problems as I will be prone to them. Did you enjoy your time in the beautiful Lakes? And the time with your Dad? Really mean that you should cut down on your hours, even if cash is a problem, which it isn't.
Sue from the 'Pool' - WELCOME - I'm from just outside Glasgow -you know the Irish have been known to call our 2 cities Belfast Lite? Between English slang , Glaswegian and Scouse we 3 will have to introduce our International sisters to the wealth of our diversity. Sorry you are having a jobbie time. This is quite new to me - since Jan 12th, so I am at the start of this. If there is anything I can do - well just don't hesitate.
Karen,I am so awfully sorry about your wee dog. One of the thngs I loved this thread for is your shared love of your wee furries. I am animal crazy and so many of you seem to be the same.
OK darlings, now feeling tired - don't know if it's catching up all lost lost sleep, or thr FEC or both, but going for a nap.
Love and lollipops to you all
Nets xxxx
-
Awwww, Nettie. I'm so sorry that there was lymph node involvement after all. How disappointed you must be! Well, that darned FECing chemo will kick the tar out of any stray cells that may linger after you have your surgery.
I'm feeling a bit better today about the whole Tinker thing. It's strange--I keep "hearing" her. Yesterday, the big dogs were barking outside, and I swear, I heard Tinker growling.
Do you have pets, Nets? If so, please post some photos. We love sharing our furbabies with one another.
Love to all,
Karen
-
Okay--I need to know if I'm being weird, ladies. There are still some Tinker droppings out in the yard. I don't have the heart to dispose of them. I just answered my own question--YES I am weird!!!!!!! Sorry
.
-
Nets - sorry about the lymph nodes.
Well Karen, I don't think your weird at all - Tinker was not just a DOG, he was family, mourn as you must for as long as you must. There are no rules you have to follow.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXO - CATHI
-
Karen: You most certainly are NOT weird. Animals give us unconditional love. There are no bittersweet memories - just happy memories. Of course you are still grieving. There are times I think my cat jumped up behind me on the bed and he's not there. I've decided it is one of the cats I lost years ago just coming for a visit. Its comforting. Hugs.
-
Haven't been here for a few days.
Karen...Honey..I am so sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it is to lose a member of our family..which Tinker was. I don't think it's weird either...I would feel the same way if Oliver was gone. I can't imagine!! Hugs to you sweetie!! Did your mother have her biopsy? How is she doing?
Prayers for Sheila's mother too.
Cathi..I can't see your pics here at work..but I will have to log on at home to view them. I ditto everyone else who said it would be fun partying with you!! Let's party!! We all need a fun time!!
Netts..sorry about the node involvement, but Karen is right..that chemo will take care of those lose buggers!
Sue..did you see the doc. yet?? I hope so!!
Jane..AE..how are you guys doing? What are the fires like there Jane? I see it on the news all the time.
Well back to work ladies..had to pop in and tell my favorite sisters hello!!!
Love to all, Mel, Judie, UB, Md-Mouse, Jules, Fumi, Ulla, Nancy, and all of my dear sisters here!
Oh..tonight is my big date with Jim. Really looking forward to meeting him. We talk on the phone about everyday. I am excited, nervous..all of the above! Hope he likes me. Today is Fat Tuesday...so the bar may be crowded. I told him...I won't be trying to win any beads tonight...lol
xoxo
Lisa
