Lynda, we put a black border around them , then sew them together. Maybe if the kids saw some of the pictures here, they might be re-excited. I have done quilts with 5th graders and ran into the same issues. We made a chart for stars, each for a different step. Good luck and keep up the good work.
Jenni, yes I still am working with those too. -
ok purple i'll send some on to you ....

I apologize for being away for so long.
My father passed away early this month after a very long illness. He lived a distance away from me so I was on the road and out of town so very often in the last six months.
My military daughter has been medically discharged from the Air Force with a 120% disability, her husband is deployed in Afghanistan so she, and my 2 year old grandson, are now living with me so she can have help with the baby. And, I work full time.
So.....I haven't forgotten anyone and WILL continue making the hugaghans.
Hugs to one and all
Missed you all

was talking with my sister in law this morning and she went through her 'stash' says it is time to do some squares for this project
-
Hi I am so glad I found this thread...I had been looking for it...didn't know what heading it was under. I started taking a crochet class 4 weeks ago and she is now teaching us to do squares...I am so excited.
Can I make the squares without the border? I am so excited to participate. I read this thread in 2006 when I joined bc.org and always planned to learn to crochet for this reason and I am finally doing it!!! hooray for me!!!
hugs to you all!
-
Candie, I have made squares without borders and sent to Madison so that won't be a problem. the 'squares' are actually rectangles 7 x 9 inches. Good luck in your crocheting class. I have been crocheting since I was about 10 years old and I have found it very relaxing.

Sheila, I am really enjoying it. I am making a scarf right now, which is our first project. I also made circles which I will make into a hat for my granddaughter. I am also learning to read the patterns which I am doing well at. Next week she will begin to teach us granny squares

Ok, I am ready to do the squares. The instructor practiced with us the other day. So when I have a bunch I will let you know.

hope the boxes got to their new homes safely
now off to have a nice celebratory day .... 8 years ....
-
Jenni,
got the box, thanks. Working on them, slowly, way to slowly. I need to focus, 8 grandkids usually take up most of my time. my new job is awesome, but time consuming. So I need to promise to work on a few each weekend -
Hello ladies, I hope everyone is well.
I have a box of unbordered squares. I can try to border some of them, but crochet is really not my thing! If someone needs unbordered squares, let me know. I have a variety of solids (blue, aqua, yellows) and variegated.

Hello girls!
Nice to meet all the new ones and so good to see all my old ones. I'm sorry I haven't been here but I'm still working on Hugaghans. I'm going to compile a list of everyone and their state to see who all and how many of us have contributed to this wonderful project.
I am getting low of squares so if anyone has any just yell.
Have a wonderful day and stay cool!
Liz

So, my yearly question..... how many women have been fortunate enough to be comforted by this amazing collaborative effort? Has anyone kept track? If so, could you PM us the info. It is such a wonderful venture! Thanks! Melissa and the Mods

I have been away from the site for awhile and just wanted to check in to see if you were still in need of squares for this project. I have a box of squares that I thought I had sent along awhile ago but I discovered taht they were in the back of my closet. They are not bordered because I do not know how to do that part.
Please let me know who I should send them to. Thanks, Liz K

Hi, BCO Sisters!
I have a group of women from my church who are anxious to help with these hugaghans. They've watched me crocheting the rectangles and would really like to participate, both knitting and crocheting. We have the "woman" power and resources to do them, completely, and send them to who ever is in charge, or to whomever needs them on the board. I realize that time is precious and the holidays are coming. I hope someone will PM me and let me know how we can help. There were 3 women, myself included, dx the same month with BC in 2010 in our congregation, and another 2 this year. It's nice to have something lovely and comforting to make for this wonderful cause. This thread reminds me of a song we sing in our women's meeting at church:
"The errand of angels is given to women;
And this is a gift that as sisters we claim:
To do whatsoever is gentle and human,
To cheer and to bless in humanity's name."
