Hello, Hello
This afghan went out last week:
Thank you for help us with this project.
-
These two hugaghans took 84 squares! Again, thank you so much for your help. Liz and I couldn't continue this project without the wonder "square" you all make for the hugaghans
Hugs,
Madison
-
liz - i have a box packed up for you - will try to get it into the mail early next week
hi to all!
-
liz - box mailed today - should be there thursday or friday ... enjoy !
-
I don't know if anyone has a 'Ollie's Bargain Outlet' store near them (in these states - DE, KY, MD, NJ, NY, NC, OH, PA, VA and WV) but they have in their flyer Red Heart Brand yarn deal 3 - 4 oz skeins $1.99, and Super Saver 7 oz skein $2.69. I will try to go (about 15 miles from my house) this weekend and pick up some of this deal.
Sheila
-
jenni I got your box today. THANK YOU! I always love your squares.
My camera has gone caplunk so I haven't been able to post pics of hugaghans that have been mailed out.
My Mom is having surgery on the 1st so I'll be working on one during her stay in the hospital.
Again, I can't thank each of you enough for continuing this wonderful project.
Hugs
Liz

liz and madison ... glad the squares help .... i couldn't do what you do ... if any of the squares aren't close enough to be used just send them on to purple
-
Madison, I promise I will get the box to you tomorrow
. I know I have been saying I have a box ready but I kept adding to it and it got bigger.
Sheila
-
purple, lvtwoqlt, other east coasters ... you guys all ok ????
-
Thanks Jenni, I live far enough away from the coast (foothills of applachian mtns) that we only got some wind and no rain from Irene. My niece is stationed in Norfolk VA and she said they got lots of rain and wind. their power was out only a short time.
Sheila
-
I'm okay. Our power was off for 14+ hours. Lots of rain and wind and I heard a tree crashing down in the middle of the night. Today I started crocheting squares. I went to a new support group and met up with a lady who said she has more yarn if I wanted it. Just let her know what colors I like. I told her about our afgans and now she wants to give me yarn.
I really have to start crocheting now.
-
nfl is starting up - should be cranking out some squares during the games
veggie - hope you and the others on the east coast are still ok ...
purple ??? are you floating away lady?
-
I'm okay. I live way up on a hill. But I have family that is being evacuated. I hope everyone else is okay.
-
My mom was cleaning in the spare (junk) room other day and found more yarn she said I could have for my square project! She said she even had some black that could be used for borders.
Madison, did you get the box I sent the other week? I bordered some squares in that box, do they work OK?
Sheila
-
donated yarn is good ! my sil donated 6 boxes ... took me a year to use it all up ... sure miss those boxes now
madison - do you have enough squares ?
-
jenni,,, lol floating away where I live.. I think even CA would be in trouble then...
-
I just came across this thread. What size squares do you need? What weight yarn are you using? Where do I send completed squares?
-
hi hauntie ! welcome ....
the squares are 7 inches by 9 inches, medium weight, machine washable and machine dryable, crocheted or knitted, as you can see from madison and liz's photos they are a riot of color .... they are bordered (you can do it yourself or send them on to someone who will add the border) with a double crochet of Red Heart Black - a double crochet, single chain, double crochet, single chain, double crochet in each of the corners ...
liz madison or one of the border patrol will pm you an address when you are ready ...
-
Hi girls......life has been a bit crazy for me but during it all I've continued to crochet, border and put some hugaghans together. I'm hoping to get two in the mail this week and then will have another ready soon.
Welcome to you hauntie! When you have squares ready just yell and we'll get you an address to mail them to.
As always Thank You ALL so much for helping us continue to send boxes of hugs.
Hugs!
-
Ditto what Liz said!! Life has been crazy!
I'm bording and putting them together!'
Shelia, thank you for the squares!! Awesome!
Hauntie, let me know if you need any patterns.
I anyone needs patterns, just send me a pm.
thanks and hugs
-
purple - glad 'the hill' isn't an island !!! take care
hugs to all the hugaghan gang ! off to border (can we say NFL ???? lol )
-
Good Afternoon,
I think I hit preview instead of sumbit sometimes because my postings disappear when I come back to the thread.
Anyway,
I am putting a "shout out" for some pattern squares to mix with the solds when I make the hugaghans.
I'll gladly mail anyone some pattern yarn.
Thanks,
Maison
-
sorry
i can't crochet well enough to do patterns ... solids and stripes .... you're right the patterns add soooo much interest and the solids set them off beautifully so using both make the 'perfect' hugaghan ....
-
Madison, by pattern yarn are you talking about multi-colored yarn (variegated), that when you crochet a basic stitch it makes it's own pattern? I try to add some of both in my boxes.
Sheila
-
Shelia, yep, I am talking about multi-colored yarn (variegated). I like using solids and variegated in the afghans to make them colorful.
Hugs,
Madison
-
Madison - I have a box of unbordered knitted squares I can mail you this week. They are mixed solid and variegated. Will send directly to you if that's OK.
Mailed them this morning - Monday.
-
Madison.....I'll get you some in the mail this week. Can't get to the PO until Wednesday though.
-
Madison ~ a box of squares is on its way to you. The squares are mostly solid colors, but there are a few variegated ones.
Hauntie ~ welcome to the project!
I hope everyone's well!
Artemis :-) -
I'm good anyway! Got a free pink tote bag w/ my mammogram last week. She felt bad because I got dizzy holding my breath I think. She said "Did you eat breakfast" and I said "Yeah, about 10 minutes ago!" Note to self....eat earlier next time or schedule for later in the day....
P.S. I bought a skein of variegated yarn today.....
-
Like dlrcpa, I bought some variegated yarn yesterday. I'd been trying to use up my stash (which is largely solid colors) before buying anything new, but Madison's shoutout was a good excuse to go shopping. Yay for new yarn!
