Mary-Anne - why dont you wait till i have my Lat Flap done so at least you can have a first-hand account. Mine will have implants though, most Lat Flaps do. There is not enough tissue on the back to reconstruct a realistic looking breast.
I am going for B-cup and he will def need an implant to supplement my own tissue. But for an A-cup... who knows, perhaps it wont be needed.

Amy, great article. Proves that no matter what kind of cancer you have, the reactions and issues are pretty similar.

Ravdeb, see, i knew you are a perfect hostess!! Me - i actually sold my dining table so all my visitors have to sit on the floor around the coffee table now. For some reason i am currently in a funky state of mind - getting rid of anything and everything that is not essential in my life! But you girls i am keeping.

V., good luck with the cabbage soup. I have lost about 0.5kg on it.. .. hardly worth the trouble. I have given up on diets and such and decided to stick to exercise and sensible eating without depriving myself. I have one more year on Zoladex so i just have to stick it out.

Easter is coming girls... bring on the chocolate!!! Whats your favourite? I love Lindt - dark of course.

Ravdeb, Your table looks beautiful and long.....lol.......Isn't your daughter the little creative one with the centerpiece of veggie's. that's really cute.

Maryanne, You sound happy with what you learned today and since you loved the PS that help's alot. I say go for it. The fact that you are a smaller size should make it that much easier which is good. 5 hours drive is quite far is that where the PS was? I wouldn't like driving that far but since you really like her then it is well worth it. If I forget to tell you good luck on Tuesday with your bone scan. I go back to see my Onc on the 23rd. I wonder if he will do another bone scan since it has been a year. Has anyone else had a second one since chemo?

Debbie, The only two show's I recognize that we have here in the States is Bones and The 70's show. As far as my tooth, I could have what's remaining of it removed but I don't think I could stand a gap between my teeth. I like to eat too much...ha.....actually if it was the last tooth I would but it is the second molar from the front so it is right in the middle. Not sure what I am going to do yet.......

It's snowing out, YUCK. I am really starting to hate it.

Did anyone see on the new's tonight that they think red meat can cause BC in Post-menopausal women?

Everyone I hope you are enjoying your evening..
    See ya tomorrow.

Paula, You are right, not much tissue needed for sizeA.LOL. I have a high risk of implant failure because of the radiation I had. But he said he thinks I could have implants as my skin feels quite good. Implants are just not for me, My breasts had started to age and at 46 I think they should.LOL. At your age I likely would have opted for implants. But now, well I just want something like the old one back...When is your surgery. I sure will wait to see how you do but am tempted to "sign" up now so I don't wait forever.

Nice table, Ravdeb.Did any magazines come to take Pics. I love the plate your friend made.

V, so, you are in your new space...does it feel right? I have only lived in 4 different places in my life. I don't change well.

Take a pic of the quilt Mary. What a beautiful memory for the kids and the parents.

Amy, haven't read your article yet. Tomorrow. I did read the Memory Keepers Daughter. My favourite part was the cover! I read the whole book, only because I paid for it... personally found most of the characters, thinly portrayed and I didn't like any of them. Strange plot for the 50's. I know that would not have happened around here in the 50's. I think I read Midwives too...but maybe 10 years ago. Was that about a legal case? If so, I loved that book and would read another by that author.

Doctors and dentists, Debbie , sounds like you are getting all tuned up!

Lovely photos Cathy and Rosemarie, great smiles. How are things Cathy. Are you feeling better?

Tracy NY. You are getting a new nipple? No fair, I only have one and you are working on your 5th.LOL. Hope this one goes better and your dogs ears turn into nice flat scars.

Laura, another trip to Mexico? Just what do you do for a living? I am going to send the Narc guys to check you out.JOKING. I am a little jealous-have a super time.

Michele, snowing here today. Will it ever end? My dog eats Aims, dry food. I hesitated but just opened a bag I bought last month. So far she is OK. Hard to believe anything would make her sick. Being a lab she has eaten the most unusual things and no problem.

I said I was going to bed, soon...

    Fists up!

    Hi Girls -

    Tracy -
You survived the move! Your energy and strength is awesome and admirable - ROCK ON in your new environment. Much love and happiness to you.

    RoseMarie -
You are the best MoM! Hang in there with the school break...your kids will cherish the memories you create - 4-EVER! I love the photos of your mini-meet - your family is beautiful! (Kierstan with her doll!)

    Michele -
Best wishes to you with the kitchen project. Yes, I have un-packed from the last trip, but will soon be packing again! You are going to Jamaica...what resort? Roy and I met in Jamaica! 6 years later we got married and honeymooned in Jamaica! Have you thought of going to the Riviera Maya? It is awesome and I would be happy to give you some info about it.

    Paula -
You are such a sweetheart! I just love your attitude and your adorable personality! Happy Easter my Polish sister!

    Kelly -
Do you and Dave want to meet us in MX (bring Teryn...no problem)? I think we would have a great time! OMG - And I still have a story to tell you...a story of being stuck in the hotel hallway. It's very funny!

    Graycie -
My dear...so glad your face is better...What part of MX are you planning on going to? I am a MX expert! I am so sorry about your tooth! My lower mouth is almost entirely bridges - hang in there. I think that red meat causes bc because of all the bovine growth hormones that are injected into the cattle to increase production, but I'm not 100% sure of this. Scary to say the least...

    Brenda -
Hi there to my little Asian sister...

    Debbie -
I picture you in high heels, like a movie star - the height and the beauty...but have you seen the movie Ms. Congeniality? LOL

    Mary -
Hang in there...your thoughts have been of your friend...exercise will come back to you.

    ravdeb -
Happy holiday! Your table is beautiful. The center piece your daughter created is a work of art! It's obvious who she inherited her creativity from!

    TaDah -
Good luck with the ears! What are you doing for Easter?

    Mary-Anne -
I'm envious - best wishes to you with the reconstruction. I hope for the very best outcome and I'm sure you'll be very happy with the end result. Please don't send the NARCS! I swear I am legal! Keep in mind, me and dh don't have children...so we have a little extra $$$ - no braces, no college eds, no school tuition, etc...but we don't have the joys that all of you Moms have either...

    ---------------------------------------

    Everyone -
Love you all...I hope spring will bless us all soon (except Paula - I know you are experiencing a totally different season). Be well girls...know that I think the world of you. When I think back to this time last year...WOW - we have come a long way!

Laura - thanks hun! I am russian, which is pretty close to Polish is guess.

Mary-Anne - i had radiation as well, and thats why Lat Flap is good , as it introduces healthy tissue to work with and cover an implant. The implant on its own wouldnt work well though b/c of capsular contraction and infection risks.
My op is on the 4th of May, so not long for you to wait for my feedback!

    Good Morning,
I think I'm better today. I woke up earlier at any rate and am leaving for the grocery store for important items like toilet paper (shhhhhh ) and dog food!

Mary-Anne...glad you liked your ps. I wish you the best results! If I were to need new girls, I'd downsize, that's for sure! I would love to share my excess with anyone!

Tracy NY...did you go to an interfaith model seder at your church? I was a part of those when I lived in the States. Good luck with your ps and new stuff you are doing.

Gail..I get it...tooth is not the last one. Mine are the end ones so it shouldn't matter. I am just not thrilled with going through with it. And when I had my wisdom teeth removed, it bugged the heck out of me (I was in my 30's)that there was that space there even though it was way in the back. My tongue kept going there. And I hate when anyone has their hands in my mouth. I gag. I have a quick gag reflex. My dentist said to make the appt with the oral surgeon on a day when he is also in the office so that he'll be there with me. Nice of him. He's the only one who knows how to deal with me and he's more concerned about the chemo damage now. My table was long cuz it was my dining room table and our wooden patio table that has a leaf on it. They aren't even the same height!

Enjoy your chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies, those of you who celebrate Easter! When I was a kid and Passover came at the same time as Easter (like this year) I was soooooooooo jealous that my friends were eating all those chocolate eggs and I wasn't allowed to. I remember as a child envying the beautiful Easter bonnets my best friend and her sister wore, and the pretty pastel, petticoat dresses! WHERE ARE THOSE DAYS????

Deb - the table is nice, i like the centrepeice! it also made me giggle - in a good way, dont get me wrong. We have a comedian over here called Peter Kay, he has very Northern humour - my Southern friends dont quite understand it so dont think it would travel across well, but it is all about looking at life when we were growing up, dads dancing at discos, mums buying cheap fizzy pop, Grans pulling the curtains to hide the light on the video so burglars didnt break in, turning 't'big light on ( one in middle of ceiling) and Mums bringing out the 'emergency chairs' at family does. Well, lo and behold - there were Debs emergency chairs!! OK - didnt translate well but made me laugh!
This is the first year we havent done Easter eggs and bonnets at school, dont know why. I used to love doing the bonnets only it started getting quite competitive - one year i made Mark this chicken which sat on his head with dangly legs with big feet that skimmed his waist, another year it was a hillside with Thomas the Tank Engine going around on a track pulling carriages with chicks and eggs in. I swear that as parents we started making them in Jan!!

Gail i see your dilemma. Could you not have it removed now and other work later when you have saved up ??
Maryanne - its good you liked the PS, i think that goes a long way. i will willing donate you some tummy fat - i have enough for Paula as well - just shout up.
Laura Ms Congeniality - i wondered what those people following me around taking notes were doing!!
Paula -my favourite is Galaxy chocolate - followed by Dairy Milk. HMMMMMmmmmMMMMMMmmmmmmm!
Lovely sunny day here , the kids have disappeared to the park muttering about ice cream vans. Had to make Catherine put more clothes on - she is already in mid summer mode!
I have Kierstens cold so am suffering not so silently.

Watch the skies - less than 48 hrs to balloon take off - if weather holds out. One just went over my house - i am hoping mine will too as we are setting off from Bakewell which is close enough if the wind is in the right direction.

tracey NY - i have managed to bruise my arm putting my clothes into the Salvation Army collection bin, ( it slammed shut on me!) so i think i will lodge a complaint with you!!

Debbie - you are so funny! Lol! Btw, I will be thinking (and praying!!) about your balloon trip!!
Deb - I love, love, love the centerpiece!! How neat! Beautiful table!
Good luck to Paula and MaryAnne! I think you'll be pleased. But NO ONE told me about having to have my nipples injected every few years, Tracy, eek...I haven't set up my tattooing appt. so I'll ask when I go in.
Gail - ugh - so sorry you're having to go through this! btw, my appt. is the 24th - my onc. doesn't believe in bone scans so the last scan I had was a PET scan right before chemo. I have off and on pain in my left hip and knee so I'm going to press for one, I think.
I also have an appt. on the 26th to meet with the genetics folks.
Kelly - I loved your story about Teryn buying you the gift also! SOOOOOO Cute!!
Laura - We're trying to plan a "big" trip too - gotta get those frequent flyer and hotel points up though!! Something good's got to come from all this travel Mike does! I half heartedly got online to see how many "points" (we're very cheap, you see) we need to go to Hawaii (got inspired by V!) and we're about 1/3 of the way there!
Mary - hope you have a wonderful day! (((hugs)))
TracyS - We had snow flurries yesterday! 77 degrees on Tuesday, 30 degrees on Wed! Hope you're staying warm!
Cathy - you too!!! I saw the pics of North Dakota on the news!!! bundle up! You're so sweet, btw!!!
Michele - you're always so good at remembering everyone - I'm not! But know that you're all in my heart -
    Have a wonderful day everyone!!

Woke up to very good news...

The Brits have been freed! Whew...

And...my friend Pip had 1/3 of her Colon removed yesterday. The surgery went really well! She doesn't have to have a Colostimy and her scans didn't show any mets. She won't know about chemo until her final path. is finished.

    Oh happy day!

Good luck to you with your bone scan. Fingers are crossed...

    RoseMarie -
Hawaii would be great! We stayed on the big island at the Hilton Waikoloa - it was very nice. Roy had miles too, so that helped. Your kids would love it...you get around the resort by boat or tram. There's a dolphin pond too. Their spa is excellant...you could get another massage (topless of course)! LOL

The sun is shining! It’s cold, currently 16 degrees F. –9 C. but no wind and the sun against the buildings is actually melting the snow so life is good.

Laura, happy to hear your friend’s surgery went well. Hope she won’t need chemo.

RoseMarie, I’ve been reading on the reconstruction thread and have heard about some of the problems with flattening of the nipples and it’s almost convinced me to stick with my original decision to keep with Barbie Boobs. Will be interested in what you learn from your pc.

I’m still scheduled for my exchange and lift and reduction and removal of my port on June 4. I’ve been told that I probably won’t achieve exact symmetry but I’m really off balance now with my tissue expander sort of resting low and to the left of where the finished product will be.

I’ve never had a scan but did have a bone density test last week. Back was above average for my age. Hip showing a mix of good, osteopenia and a small area of osteoporosis. The same thing with my lower arm-with my wrist being at 120 percent which is good.

Hope you get to realize your dream of Hawaii. It’s one place I’ve never been but it’s on my short list. Will be interested in what you find out from the genetic testing.

Thank you again for a wonderful time getting to know you and your family. Your kids are all really special. I hated to leave so soon. Will see you all in Chicago.

Yoohoo Debbie–I am watching the skies for you. Hope the weather hold’s on for you to fly high. I am amazed that you are as tall as you are. Your pictures look like you are a petite little thing. Love the new glasses and congrats on getting your position and more hours.

Deb–what a beautiful table. Your daughter’s centerpiece was not only beautiful-It’s inspired me to do something similar for Easter. I’m going to daughter Ann’s for Easter and she has a very small apartment so we’re probably going to eat out but we’ll be coloring eggs Saturday night so thought it would be a nice low-cal beautiful munchie.

Mary-Anne–Yes I am feeling much better. I’ve quit my Alieve and Prilosec and my knee doesn’t seem any worse. I know I’m headed for knee replacement. I have been noticing I have actually been accomplishing more and able to stay on task better. Seeing the sun helps too. I had to laugh at your take on the implants since I decided that was the way I wanted to go-so will more than likely have one young and perky, one old and droopy. I had more than enough belly for the DIEP but as I understand it my hysterectomy scar ruled that out.

Gail–sorry you’re going through tooth problems. The cost of dentistry amazes me. I’ve had false teeth for over forty years and I have dental insurance! (only because I provide it for my employees) Glad the red-face has gone away. I got something like that just a few years ago from a Mary Kay product that was supposed to make me look younger. O.k. you me and everyone else-please chant “NO MORE SNOW!”

TracyNY–enjoy that long weekend and hope things look up for you. Do initiate that new table!

Mary–I think about you every day. The quilt idea is really wonderful.

V, across the fence from you and the warmth of NM. What more could I wish for. Your spice rack story had me chuckling. Hope you’ll soon be settled in.

Amy–really liked the article from Newsweek. I especially liked the way he ended with the quote from the “Shawshank Redemption”: “You can get busy living or you can get busy dying.”

Michele–hope your remodeling is soon finished and you and your hubby can get your well deserved rest and that your house sells fast.

O.K. enough of this chapter. Now that I remember how to post pictures I’m going to post some later today. Ones I’ve been saving up.

Have a wonderful day all. and welcome spring.

Yikes..I can't type here...I'm being attacked by the "heat bugs". Do you ladies get these in the warm weather? We are having this awful dry, hot heat here and when this happens we get these flying little tiny bugs and they are covering my screen and my keyboard, though I brushed them away. When I went up to put the clean sheets on the bed, my bed was covered with them. They are off the keyboard now but covering my screen! ICK!

Amy, I also liked that article you gave the link for.

Cathy..hope that exchange and stuff goes well. Barbie Boobs? :-)The veggie centerpiece is my sister's idea. It's great. You can eat the centerpiece instead of watching flowers die. For our seder, it makes the seder more fun because you can eat the centerpiece (we had some dips for the veggies) during the readings.

I gotta go..these bugs are attacking me!

Debbie..good luck up in the air!!!!

RoseMarie..they only give us bone scans if there is a bone symptom. I did a lot of reading on them and frankly, I am not so sure they are worth the bother. My orthoped said he likes regular x-rays instead. Bone scans need follow ups if something shows on them anyway. At diagnosis I had a bone scan as routine and was followed up by an MRI anyway. Seems that that is a waste of money. They should just schedule the MRI from the beginning! Bone scans pick up tons of things. I've never had a PET and won't get one unless I have symptoms or signs of mets. So, I'll never have a PET!

OK, Now I am worried too. Sorry about the cold, I hope you feeling better. I like your new avatar. I want to get new glasses but not sure what is in now. I got mine when the real little one's were in. I don't like them anymore so I don't wear them only when I have too for driving I also need new prescription sunglasses too. Heaven forbid I be out of style.......lol.....BTW, your glasses look nice on you.

Rosemarie, We will have to compare note's on our doctor appointments. I guess I am first.

Laura, Yep, the Brit's have been freed. Where the heck have I been, didn't know they were missing until this morning. That is wonderful new's about Pip. Love your quote.

Cathy, We have the snow too. There is no hope for looking younger I guess unless we go under the knife. Even then I have seen some horrifying results. Unfortunately I have always been a sun worshiper and I am paying for it now. Although, I swear most of these wrinkle's showed up after chemo. Sorry about your knee. As far as the DIEP, would you like some of my belly fat. It is up for grabs if anyone want's some.........lol. Can't wait to see the picture's you are going to post.

Ravdeb, I don't recall heat bug's. We just have mosquitoes that's about it. I have never had a PET or an MRI, I wonder why? I did have a CAT scan is that the same thing? I love your balloon. I don't see Debbie though......lol

Graycie-Gail Please–no more belly fat. I have a great sufficiency. Are you chanting with me “No more SNOW” Mary too! You girls seem to get what we’ve had and do you seem to remember about a week ago–TracyS had snow again. I truly believe it’s over. Sunshine and lollipops from here on in.

Kelly–do you remember asking us for pictures a while back? Are you still working on a project with them? I know that some of what I’ve been sorting through are pics that I put in a folder when you asked and never followed through. Now I don’t remember what you wanted. Thought I’d share some with you all anyway. Guess I’ll do it chronologically.

First my wedding day. That’s me and my teenaged husband. I had just turned 20.

Last one folks for tonight. This is a picture of me and my kids taken at Christmas time 2005. They are Mike, Amy, Ann and Matthew. This picture was taken at a photography studio by my daughter-in-law Amy which is why we aren’t looking at the camer. The session was an experience in itself. It was in a corner of a low-ceilinged family room in the photographer’s basement. Most of the pictures Amy took were hilarious. The professional ones were o.k. but not great. The important thing is we created a memory from that experience.

Have a good night all. I’m headed home.

Here I am again, a dollar late and a day short... Did I say that right?

Cathy, I love your wedding photo! My Polish friend is right. Your family is beautiful, and you have so much to be thankful for.

Amy, have fun with the hubby!

Paula, I like the 100% pure chocolate Easter bunnies from See's, the bigger the better.

Debbie: Don't forget your parachute. You may need it.

My 11 year old said he'd walk a few blocks with me to have lunch at Rubio's if I promised "not to sway my hips". Of course I could not laugh because the discussion would have gotten worse. I wanted to say, "What hips? I don't even have hips!"

There was a NOVA presentation about teen-agers' brains and why they think that way. If I remember right, their brains are upside down, or something like that.

More about my 11-year-old, on a "more serious" note. For the past couple of weeks he has been developing what feels like "chicken fat" right under both of his nipples. They hurt when you pinched them, so we were all concerned and had to call our doctor. He was nice enough to educate me over the phone on how some boys develop these marble-like growths under their nipples. He said he was sure they will go away after a few months, and that they were part of puberty. Can you imagine how scared I was when he asked me if his lumps were normal?

Sean - that's his name - will have his black belt test on April 14! Keep your fingers crossed for me, please. We can't afford another testing fee if he fails!

I'm actually more than a dollar short after going to the casino. But fun was had by me and my friend, and that is what matters during spring break.

Wishing everyone joy and peace this season and always!

Hi Brenda! Sounds like you had fun! Welcome back!
    Hope Sean passes!!!
You must have been a wreck after the lumps with your son. OMG! That would have put me under. We learn new things every day, don't we?

Cathy..your pictures are absolutely beautiful. You are a beautiful woman...truly beautiful both inside and out and you have a gorgeous family. Love the red wig! I tried on red and blonde wigs when I was having my wig styled. Somebody told me I looked better in the copper colored one than the black one. My dh wanted me to dye my black wig but they said it couldn't be done. It was fun to see what I'd look like, though!

You looked good bald, actually. I looked like my dad when I was bald. My dad IS bald!

Gotta run and take my daughter and boyfriend to a friend's. They are going away for the day...

Take care all you lovely ladies. Will be back on, I'm sure, to check up on you all.

    Amy..have fun!
