Debbie..I'm so excited! Those pictures are unbelievable! Wow. I'm so glad you followed your dream! I thought about you all day long! Spectacular!

Tracy NY..feel better. sorry the furniture doesn't all fit! oops.! I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I hate colds.

Debbie..did you see the balloon I posted many posts back? Kinda looks like the one you went on. I looked up websites on this. I don't know if they do that here or not. I think I would have seen it. Parasailing is popular, though. I'm the only one who hasn't done that yet, here. I'm too scared. I sat on the boat and watched.

That is just toooooooooo cool, Debbie! Still happy for you AND your friend with the clear MRI.

Okay ladies..there is a post on the boards about how our treatments could be CAUSING recurrence...from sugery through rads. Please look for that and tell me what you think. I'm in such a bad mood here at home (no connection to bc) and when I read that I felt like dropping out of life.

Debbie, you are living a charmed life. An early morning Spring Balloon ride. Your pics are beautiful but I bet the feeling was even better. I am glad you survived it, I did watch out for you as I live on the coast of Nova Scotia, your flight path had the winds picked up and reversed their usual paths.

Ravdeb, I looked at the article The thread is titled "What are they doing to us?" .It is in Moving Beyond. In this case I think the thread was meant to scare readers. WHAT is the point of that? I hope newbies are not frightened from current treatments. Here is my take on the article.

    Well,,,,

"Cancer experts have wondered if the so-called primary tumor -- the first and biggest tumor -- might somehow suppress the growth of other tumors, and that removing or destroying the first tumor might allow other, undetectable, tumors to then grow."

Hmmmmmmmm, interesting. However we know that women NOT treated with chemo and rads HAVE a higher chance of recurrence. There are too many studies that PROVE this.

It is hopeful though that yet another compound ,in this case TGF-beta, has been identified, which may have some relationship to subsequent metastases. And MAYBE this will be able to help predict who needs treatment.

But I would not jump to a conclusion that no one should have treatment as it MAY promote tumor mets in SOME people. You just have to compare todays rates to the rates of 20 years ago to stay the present course.

Research is important and it takes many small bits of research to come together to make major breakthroughs. It would be fantastic if this research leads to a targeted treatment to give to women who might otherwise met and forgo chemo but I think it is far too premature to declare "What are they doing to us?". That statement also makes it a we/they situation with our medical staff. Hopefully my staff is working with me not against me.

I hope your home situation can be dealt with quickly. Is there anything we can do to help?

The Easter Bunny came this morning. Ah chocolate for breakfast! My weekend has been quiet so far. My Mom arrived on Friday and I took her to the bus station this AM. She was going to my brothers for this evening.

Hawaii, Mexico--yup, jealous. We had snow yesterday. A few hours away a foot of snow arrived through the night. Ours had turned to rain so at least we didn't have a white Easter.

No Easter bunny believers here anymore. It is a little sad but I did enjoy getting to bed at a reasonable hour last night.

Tracy NY, stay in bed, drink plenty of fluids and call me in the morning...hope your cold turns the corner soon.

Michelle, remember when Tracy Seattle was packing-that made me tired but renovating...you are amazing me with your energy. I am not on antihormonals. My period returned last summer and has been fairly regular since. But this month hot flashes have returned, not as bad as during chemo 3-5/day. And now I am late for my period. I hope I didn't get an Easter present from DH last month...LOL. Not likely!

    Fists up!

Here is my latest pic of my wild and wooly do. It is soooooo tempting to cut it. I am trying to get a below the ear bob. It is at such an awkward stage. I might try the straightener today as it is actually long enough. My DD straightens hers every day.

    Happy Easter ladies!

I am feeling worse today but I thank God for just garden variety sickness!! Having a cold is not a major thing, as rotten as I'm feeling.

The night stand has a huge dresser that goes with it. That's still in the shop, I don't even want to think about the aggravation I'm going to have to go through to get that piece!!

The pork is in the oven and I'm going to run out and collect my washing that I dropped off a few days ago. That should be an adventure because none of the people in the laundry speak English too well and I usually go back to collect while the person who took them from me is still there. I have no idea who'll be there now and if we'll have to get to fighting for my clothes!!

oh wow, Maryanne..you have great, great hair! I'm so jealous of those curls. It's gorgeous. Try using some hair cream to separate the curls...I use it on my straight hair but did it when it was curly and it didn't look as full. I do it now so I don't look like a cotton ball but I'm keeping it quite short. Still..it separates the hair and gives it almost the wet look..depending on how much you put on. I put gobs. My hairdresser used a new kind of wax that looks like a hard cream. That worked, too. More expensive but then I use a ton of the cream. But I love your hair. I love that full effect with all the curls. I've always loved curls.

It will look great when it's closer to one length, too. Be tough! Let it grow!!! you can always cut it if you don't like it long.

I was hoping you'd answer my post about that research. I think that poster found it and it scared her. She did treatments. She just read and wondered IMO. I agree with you..I go by statistics. I know women who died without treatments..but what about all the ones who died WITH treatments here on the boards? Still...I'm not sorry I went aggressive and can't imagine why it would be good to keep a cancerous tumor in you without treatments, if you could surgically remove it. That makes no sense, either.

Just pushed my buttons. Am having some bad days that have nothing to do with bc and I can't write about it on the boards. And no..my dh and I are just fine, in case that crossed anyone's mind...

deb, i'm here if you need to vent...always

these research articles drive me batty. we really have to be critical when we read these random articles that come out in the media. how many people were in the study, how many of the studies were conducted, who conducted this research, etc. the media finds one study and makes it the bible....hence, all the hoopla about mri's being better than mammogams, whatever. i try to take each one with a grain of sand.

maryanne...you look beautiful. i like your hair! i wanted curls and i got diddly!

had a nice weekend at virginia beach with my parents...it actually snowed here yesterday...how insane is that? but now it's warm again. my allergies are out of control. and confused

off to have breakfast with my parents and then get on the road.

Love the night table, Tracy. The dresser must be great too.

OK, when you have short curly hair....do not try to straighten with a straightener.LOL. Then you have short hair that sicks straight out...too funny. My nest move is to try your suggestion with a ton of cream.

Happy Easter to you too, Laura.

Kelly, where are the Easter pics of Teryn? I bet she loved her egg hunt. Actually you are likely just getting up.

I had to drag my son out of bed for church at 11. I went to the vigil last night. He claimed a sore throat. I gave him Advil and told him to get going. Todays Mass is not optional...Patrick has eaten all the eggs and his bunny, won't have to make lunch today. I am planning a prime rib roast for my supper. I had pork ribs last night Tracy, I was thinking of you. Honey/garlic, slow cooked for 4 hours, delicious.

    Fists up!

Remember back when we voted on the lemon drop martini recipe? I looked back and can't find the page that had the recipe/winner.

I'm making something for each of you for our get-together and need the recipe. Can someone post it? Mucho gracias!

Kelly, I think it was your recipe that won.?.?.

    Happy Easter!

We went to visit my brother in law last and his wife last night and it was snowing on the way home. My hubby had a few drinks so I was the designated driver and I had to drive his newer vehicle. I was so nervous thankfully it was just a little slick as we were driving home and we didn’t wait to come later.

Today’s project is priming the walls and then waiting and putting the first base coat of paint on it.

I was having a pretty good sleep last night or should I say this morning as we got home at 12:15 a.m. and I went to sleep about 1:00 a.m. My husband’s pager went off at 4:15 a.m. for an alarm activation – argh…I was sleeping so well.

I feel pretty good today, yesterday afternoon was one of those “feeling sorry for myself afternoons”. I cried, got angry, vented, hugged hubby and then we went over to his brother’s to get out of the house. We watched “Wild Hogs” which wasn’t that good of a movie but cute.

Debbie444 – your pictures are awesome, glad you enjoyed yourself, sounds like a fabulous experience. Was it pricey? I love the pictures were you can see the whole countryside, they are breathe taking. That’s great news on your friend too!

Laura – I chuckled at your parachuting experience. I remember years ago when I was in Acapulco with my older sis and they were doing the parachuting from the beach too. We did it and landed uneventfully. Some people landed in the flipping water….. My hubby and I did dual parasailing at Couples Negril, it was awesome, too parasails side by side together and you take off and land from a boat.

Cant wait for our get together, it is going to be awesome!!! My parents keep asking me if I;m still going to Chicago. I even bought some U.S. money from my dad. I have been saving a little bit each pay towards spending money.

TracyNy – the tables were well worth the wait, they are beautiful. Now you will just have to move to a larger place so that everything fits in….Take care of yourself and hope your cold moves on quickly.

Debbie – sorry that you are feeling bad, we must have been taking turns. The way that I see things if I hadn’t done what I did as far as being aggressive with my treatment, I would not be here today. It is so dumb when you think about what they are saying, why would people not do everything in their power to rid themselves of this disease. Bite the fear monster, one little bite at a time…

Maryanne – thanks for being our resident physician and explaining your take on the article. We had snow yesterday and it stayed, we have about 2 cm on the ground, yuk! I told my husband I;m glad that we didn’t take the winter tires off my Rav4. My energy wanes back and forth, yesterday I was tired…today I feel like the energizer bunny and raring to go.LOL. Maybe you are peri-menopausal that’s why your periods are funny.

Your hair looks just like mine. I find that if I put lots of wax in it, it tames it and then I pin it back on both sides so it doesn’t look so overwhelming. The back of mine is growing now too despite the curliness and I can make a little tinnie tiny ponytail!

Love using the slower cooker, especially for roasts.

Amy – glad you are enjoying your visit with your parents. Drive safely home.

Graycie – hi sister, hear you on the snow. I told my husband I don’t remember an Easter weekend where it has snowed all weekend!

    Have a great Bunny Sunday.

    Love to all

Gail..."hop" on..love that you little Easter Bunny!!! I was rofl and I needed a laugh. Of course, the wine helps!

Michele..I think you are the Easter Energy Bunny!!! Give me just a teeny bit of that energy please! I actually had it as I was preparing for the holiday. I'll get it back this week. I plan to walk the energy out or in..however you look at it.

Laura..I will resolve this problem...eventually. Just not in a good place right now.

I forgot about those lemon drop martinis. YUM!

Ravdeb - hope things get better soon! Sounds serious but I hope you're able to walk on the beach, drink wine and get some peace regarding this!!
I have to say the whole cat-hamster-guineapig thing had me rofl!
TracyNy- sorry you're feeling bad! Your furniture is gorgeous, like always!! You'll have to tell us how your pork roast turns out!
MaryAnne - we could be twins! Most of the time I feel like Peter Brady - if I don't gel it down it gets a little crazy!
Well, I was missing my family...until I called home! Lol! What craziness!! Every holiday is such a big deal at "home." Deb, you cracked me up when you talked about being jealous of the chocolate bunnies when you were a kid. Me too!! I grew up "culturally challenged!" No bunnies at my house! Easter was strictly a religious holiday and there was no Easter bunny. The funny thing is now my mom goes out of her way to send the kids baskets full of stuff!!
Debbie - I'm just going to live vicariously through you! I am so utterly terrified of heights - couldn't even clean my windows the other day because I got too scared on the ladder! The pictures are AWESOME!!

Everyone else, Have a WONDERFUL day!!!

    Hi Ladies,

I painted the front hallway today (its small so no great accomplishment but it looks so nice) but now I have to paint the front door to match it and the outside of it as well.LOL.

DH put the first coat of primer on the kitchen walls.

I took the dogs out for a walk afterwards, it was my turn today. It was so cold, had to put on some extra clothes, this weather is so gross!!

Deb - I'm sorry that you are not in a good space right now. You know I had heard that the hardest thing about breast cancer was moving beyond (post treatment) and I have to agree they are right. Big hugs sister if that is what is bringing you down. Its none of my business and I wont pry but thought if that's what you were struggling with, we are here for you!

Hope your beach walks help you feel better.

Rosemarie - I could join the Peter Brady club too. I had someone at work ask me if I got a perm the other day. Wax pomenade is my dear friend these days.

Laura - be careful, is the car okay or just the wheelbarrel took the brunt of it. I always now double check when I back out of my parents driveway as their neighbours always park on the street. One time I just missed hitting one of the neighbours mercedes, would not have been a pretty site!

    Have a great Sunday evening.

    Love

Peter Brady, here too. Or maybe Kramer...

Having a peaceful day . The weather is sucky here, high winds and snow, yup , a white Easter.

My supper was yummy, kids would prefer Pizza I think.

I think I now know why my hip is hurting. Maybe it is from sitting in my computer chair every night...if(when) the bone scan is OK I am going to have to take a break again. I am running around the boards checking so many posts. It is getting addictive. My DH comes home in three weeks, thank goodness I am really in need of someone to share my evenings with. The boards are wonderful but human contact is hard to beat.

Michelle, you should have gone on one of those redecorating shows, had it all done for you while you sipped wine and ate some where nice.LOL. We'll need after ppics soon.

    Fists up!

guess what, ladies? we're going to talk to a breeder this weekend...she is having puppies in may we're getting a black lab and hopefully, once the mother dog gets preggers, we'll have our names on a list and be ready to get a female black lab. so excited! i want it to happen tomorrow. the puppies would be born in may and then given to homes at 8 weeks, so it would be by end of june.

we're naming her "kalby". it means "my doggy" in arabic

Amy..that is GREAT! I'm excited for you! Puppies are a lot of work, though! But it's worth it. We've had many puppies. They are so cute! How fun!

Kalby..that's cute. kelev is in Hebrew for dog. My dog would also be kalavi (tho nobody says that..we say Ha kelev sheli). Hebrew and Arabic are extremely similar. When I was in college we got a dog and we named it Kelev (dog). We called him Kelly, though. (sorry Kelly!!!)

Michele..I'll be okay. It's unrelated to bc though when something happens, bc issues creep in there, too. This is a hard time of year because my dh might as well be in Africa since he's so busy we literally don't see each other. So, Maryanne..I can relate. My kids are not here..one in the army and my daughter who lives at home isn't really HERE anymore and her boyfriend basically lives with us, as well. younger son is not really "with us" as he is in his own world....

That is not the problem..just adds to it. I'll be okay. I always am.

Thanks RoseMarie.. Easter bunnies vs a religious Easter. I realize that the bunnies are not exactly religious but I thought it was just one of the many customs of Easter that everybody did. Explain, please! I can't believe you were "deprived" of your Easter bunny chocolates! I'd go NUTS if I celebrated the holiday and wasn't allowed the chocolates, me being a chocoholic and all!

Laura..at least it was just your wheelbarrow. A few years ago I backed into my neighbor. I have a van and backed out slowly but she must have been racing down the street because I didn't see her when I looked. Her car is smaller and was in my blind spot at just that point. I heard the crunch and almost blacked out out of fear. It was always my fear that I'd back into somebody because it's so hard to see and the cars are coming from the other side of the hill. I got out of the car...her babies were in the back seat where I hit the car. I hit it softly and just dented the back door but I was shaking all over. She, the neighbor, was not upset at all. She is one of these calm people. Thanks goodness it was her and not somebody else. She was really nice, my dh took her car in to be fixed that day and she had it by the afternoon becuase it wasn't that bad. We never reported it. She didn't want to deal with any of that. We are neighborly friends (not the one with the hamster!). We are still friendly. She kept trying to calm ME down!

More news in Israel that is cancer related...

    ANOTHER WEAPON AGAINST CANCER

The Israel Cancer Association (ICA) has welcomed the recent US Food and Drug Administration announcement that it had approved the marketing of Tykerb, a drug for women with metastatic breast cancer that no longer responds to Herceptin. The FDA examined studies showing that when Tykerb (of GlaxoSmithKline) is given along with the drug Xeloda, another breast cancer drug from Roche Pharmaceuticals, the disease is kept under control better than with Xeloda alone. Tykerb is not in Israel's basket of health services, but will probably be proposed for inclusion next year.

The ICA said Tykerb, which prevents further decline from cancer in women with metastases, is yet another tool to fight common malignancies and to raise the recovery rate.

Okay..I just read about the history of the Easter Bunny. I am obviously bored!

One thing that struck me is that it symbolized Spring. (it's also from a pagan viewpoint which answers my relgious vs easter bunny question).

The Spring part struck me because Passover, which is around the same time as Easter, is also called the Holiday of Spring. And..one of our symbols is the egg. We don't have bunnies, though.

Another thing that was interesting is that the Easter Bunny charms the kids like Santa does for Christmas. And well..heck..that's ONE way to get kids involved in the holdiays. On Passover, some people make the Passover seder fun and dress up like the characters and act out the story as opposed to just reading it. So, again..we have something similar as far as celebrations. Then there was the part about Oestre (Easter, but the woman) who had a love affair with a bird??? Interesting...something about laying the eggs..I skimmed that part!

Mary-Anne..it's called being terribly bored on this holiday! What a downhill crash from all the business I was into last week!

I love Easter Bunnies. They are cute! And I always had a fascination with the colored eggs..so pretty! I know about the religious part of the holiday, of course. It's just not my holiday so I take it surface only :-)

Casey is following me everywhere today. She is also bored, I guess. But then, what would SHE be doing differently???

    hi girls,
just dropping in to say hi..
i've been really sick with flu over easter. Dang, my immune system is shot, this is my second flu in a month. I feel absolutely rotten. What concerns me is how bad my chest is. When i was a kid i got pneumonia quite a few times, so i am really scared that rads damaged my lungs.

had a quick read through all the new posts -

Amy, aaaw, new puppy, how adorable! You chose a wonderful breed. Labs are fantastic dogs.

Mary-Anne, your hair looks exactly like mine! I've given up any attempts to straighten it, so it looks wild and bushy. Since i always used to have fine and limp hair, this is a nice change.

i'll have a proper read tomorrow..

    take care girls
