Amy... now I'm in the midst of cooking for tonight's dinner. Will this never end???
I am not a fan of matzah but butter on matzah IS good. Haven't done the spray butter though!!! That would only work when one is drunk!
I got whole wheat matzah for me. I hope it's good :-)
REST??What the heck is THAT????
I just so love your avatar! You look so cute..okay..young is the word and you are young and well..I like that!!! -
Matzo? Anyone needs matzo? I have about 100 cases that someone donated here!! What can you do with matzo? I told them to soak it in evaporated milk, sprinkle it with cinnamon and raisins and bake it into a dessert!!
Its Friday again! Doesn't time fly? Last night I pinned my fabric to make a navy blue suit. I'm really into this sewing thing. My living room is a trash heap with the sewing machine, the ironing board, scraps of pattern tissue and ends of thread. I feel so busy!!
Only one more week before I can watch tv!! I've enjoyed being without it although I think that was counter to why I started, it was supposed to be a sacrifice but was nowhere near the challenge it should have been. Perhaps next near I'll give up candy. I had that and beer for dinner a few nights ago.
I'm glad that my nothing to do with anything stories are the distraction that they are meant to be. I really hope that I don't invalidate anyone's feelings when I go off into my closet and come out with a tale about me. We all love a good winge every now and again but the sun is out, we're all above the ground, praise God! Let's have a good time!!
Now, by show of hands, who in the hell could hook a bra from the back?! I never knew you were supposed to!! In all my years I always hooked and swung, I thought that was how you put on a bra. Now I always admired a man who could UNhook my bra behind my back with one hand while kissing me! That is hot!!
One time my PS unhooked my compression garment like that, I damn near caught the vapors!! -
Happy Pesach to everyone that celebrates. I have had matzah with butter and it was pretty good. I don't like it plain. My best friend when I was growing up was Jewish. Amy I can't see your avatar yet but I am sure you look cute like Ravdeb said.
Tadah, Sound's like you are really doing good with the sewing. Good For you. Pretty soon you can custom make all your clothes. Since you love clothe's maybe you will become a fashion designer someday.
Glad to know we can add another one to the bra swinging...........lol -
Me, too, on the bra swinging. I have *never* been able to do it the other way. Maybe it's easier if you have smaller boobs. At the time of my mastectomy, I was dealing with DDDs. SHRIEK!! (Now I've got a C and a D.)
-
Bra swinging...I love it!!! Tracy..you just crack me up!
Just for a bit of trivia..it is technically not allowed to water or milk the matzah, though plenty of us do this...this would not be kosher because the matzah would be like leaven then and this isn't allowed. But..plenty of people make french toast with matzah, blintzes (those are crepes) with matzah and just about anything else you can think of. I just go the letter from the head rabbi of our village (each village, town and city in Israel has a head orthodox rabbi) with all the rules of keeping kosher for Passover. He is very tough in his words. I'm not orthodox so I don't follow it all as stictly as he says to...clean out the yard and check my kids' pockets for non-kosher for Passover candies. Well, actually..we used to do that when the kids were young..now they just do it themselves...youngest kid cleaned his room! He also cleaned out my car. Nice of him. -
Cindy...I had lumpectomy. I'm now wearing DD because the lumpectomy boob is fuller. I can see it when I look in the mirror and wonder if other people notice that one boob is actually bigger looking than the other. My non-lumpectomy side sags more. I'm old.
-
deb.....whole wheat matzo is the best!!! that's all i eat. i melt cheese on it or i put peanut butter on it or i eat it with deli turkey like a sandwich. it's my favorite!!!
i thought everyone hooked their bra from the back. they do it like that on tv! -
You young girls are more with it with the bra fastening I think.......lol.....You are probably right Amy, it should be done from the back but we come from the old school and that is the way we were taught.....How funny!
-
Ha...I told my daughter about this discussion (and of course she thinks we are all nuts!) but she said that she didn't know HOW anyone could possible hook it in the back!
Amy..you can hook yours in the back? You are more talented than I thought!
The big thing here is chocolate spread on matzah. Chocolate spread is yuck but my kids like it on matzah! -
OMG, Amy your new avatar just appeared finally. CUTE!
Ravdeb, That's funny that your daughter think's we are all nut's. I agree...lol -
Ravdeb, actually not putting matzah in water or egg is a custom, not a dietary restriction. People from Hungarian backgrounds do not do it, but in my family (Polish background) we did, and many Orthodox do allow it. The Sephardi Jews of course eat rice and beans on Passover, which shows how much of the food customs are traditions rather than laws.
As far as the bras, I too hook in the front. My breasts look completely different, its so weird. Lumpectomy/radiation side is smaller, firmer, higher - its very obvious in tight tops, so I tend to wear looser ones, and now wear very unstructured bras, so they just sort of flatten me.
Linda -
no, deb, i can't hook from the back! i can only do it from the front and turn it around. like a doofus. at least we're all doofuses
-
Linda..I've been doing a ton of reading on Passover traditions. It REALLY depends on who is saying it. No, it's not a law..it's all traditions. There are rabbis here that are very clear about NOT putting matzah in water. We've debated it many times. I don't care, personally, and my father in law won't eat matzah unless it's been in water. We never put it in water growing up but not for any reason..just thought it was gross! I never heard of this controversy til I moved to Israel. Of course, that makes sense since every rabbi here thinks he knows everything and I'm surrounded by rabbis here.
We mash up matzah and put it in omelettes. Well...my dh does that. I don't really like it. In fact, I don't eat a lot of matzah...stops up the plumbing if you know what I mean! And I'm from Polish descent as well. Yes..the Sepharadi Jews eat rice and beans and everything else except flour and bread. There is now a discussion here in the conservative movement about allowing rice and beans here in Israel (for Ashkenazim) because the majority of Israelis go by this tradition.
When I was growing up I thought that having compote was a law at Passover! Well..technically..if you don't eat compote with all that matzah, you will wish it WAS a law!!!
Have a good holiday! -
Linda..another front hooker..oh..that didn't come out right, did it?? oops! I'm laughing here..can't believe I wrote that! Well, you know what I mean. My radiated side is bigger and fuller than the other one. It's lifted up because my tumor was on the top so it got lifted a touch. I'm large breasted so it's not all that perky!
Amy..we posted at the same time..but you, too, are a front hooker, not a doofus.
I think we should do a survey and see if there is ANYONE who hooks in the back!
This is fascinating stuff here!!! -
OMG..that didn't come out right either..hooks in the back! I'd better go to bed. NO...didn't mean THAT, either. I mean..I did..I gotta get some sleep...that's what I mean. I think cleaning has done it to me..I'm nuts!
-
LMAO!!!!!!! As usual don't have time to post but Deb, you are really cracking me up. I must be the odd one here. I do hook my bra behind my back.
-
oh Cathy...a back hooker huh??? Congratulations! You may have won the prize!!!!
-
I have always hooked mine in the back, never knew anything different.LOL. This is a funny discussion going on here...
Will post more later, have to run to physio, will be back....
Michele -
Hey - thats something i do - the back thing i mean. Oh dear - have i found my talent? I was hoping it would be something better than that!
-
I refused to be the first back hooker here - so now that others have posted - I will too! LOL Been a back hooker since my very first training bra! My Mom's a front hooker, so I don't know how I was influenced.
-
I had a vacation day today and feel totally exhausted right now. I spent 1 ½ hours at the hair salon getting my hair trimmed and highlighted. My hair is so dark that you cant really see the highlights unless you look up close. I had my physiotherapist who is a guy by the way tell me that I looked like I had less curls today and big hair! I want to smack him one and told him that is probably what my hubby is gonna say.
Went out for a walk with the pups today as it was pretty pleasant outside, a little on the cool side but nice for walking. I bought the puppy a new harness that keeps her from pulling when she sees someone and gets all excited or another dog. It worked really well.
Also raked some more outside the yard today for about an hour didnt want to overdo the arm thing, also cleaned up in the gardens out front.
Tomorrow is rest day, hubby doesnt work until tomorrow night so we can spend most of the day together. I am going to see Shooter with my girlfriend tomorrow night.
My secret is that when I got my first period I thought I was bleeding to death. My mother is a nurse but unfortunately never discussed any of that girlie stuff so I was so unprepared for when it happened. I think I was 13 at the time.
Laura - my mom is also a front hooker too, guess I didnt watch her closely enough when I was growing up. A funny story I remember my mother telling my aunt the day that I started wearing a training bra, how embrassing that was for me. I laugh when I think about it now.
Rosemarie are you still having problems sleeping? You know if I could sleep the whole night I would be a happier camper. Your massage incident made me smile. My hubby and I had a couples massage when we were in Jamaica a few years ago. It was wonderful, we both felt like jelly and sooooo relaxed when it was finished. They had the massage booths close to the beach area so you could hear the sound of the water. I;m not sure how great massages are now with respect to lymphodema, does anyone know the answer to that? Does it make it worse?
Deb I am hooked on the Young and The Restless, have been watching it since I was 17? My hubby laughs as he says you could not watch the show for a month and still tune in and now what is going on. Enjoy your Passover celebration! Are you done cooking yet? My lumpectomy boob is perker and is much smaller in size that my other girl, it just hangs there. You can notice that one side is bigger that the other at least I can when I wear a short sleeve top.
TracyNy you make me laugh everytime I read one of your posts. You are a breath of fresh air. I would love to be able to sew, forgot did you take sewing classes, I wouldnt have any clue how to make sometime simple let alone a suit. I always hook my bra from the back, now I feel like the alien here as most of you ladies hook it in the front and spin it around the back.
Kelly how are you? I have been thinking about you. Did you get your results back yet?
All my other sisters, enjoy the Spring weather, have a great Friday evening.
Your bc sister
Michele -
LOL everyone!! I am a back hooker! I've always been "small" - don't know if that makes a difference.
Kiersten is having a friend sleep over so I have a feeling we're in for a loooooong night. The problem is the girl is better friends with John Michael than Kiersten so they're not going to be too happy when they realize they'll be separated for bedtime...
Good night ladies! -
yeah victoria!!! glad your estrogen is disappearing!!!
just got finished with the cutest thing ever. we just had some friends over for dinner and one of them has a baby who is 9 months. my husband started playing the guitar and the baby started bouncing up and down and clapping and laughing and trying to touch the guitar. so cute. here's are some pics:

Allowing rice and beans in Israel? Or do you mean allowing them to eat it during Passover?
Are there certain foods that just cannot be obtained or eaten in Israel at all? I mean, so many foreigners must live there and non kosher people. -
Good Morning my sisters,
Couldnt sleep woke up at 5:40 a.m. so decided to check in with my favourite ladies to see how everyone is doing.
Victoria - congrats on the estrogen drop, here's to hotflashes.LOL. It is wonderful that Femera is still your weapon of choice. Glad to hear that you are just about moved in. Our kitchen is a mess right now with one cupboard off the wall and another missing its doors so that my husband can sand the walls. I keep looking for the cupboard to find a plate and then remember its not there anyone...
Rosemarie - hopefully the kids didnt keep you awake all night.
Amy - that little boy is priceless. When your time comes to be a parent your husband is going to make a great day, you can see in the picture who he interacts with little ones.
Have a super day.
Love
Michele -
Michele..what did your hubby say about your new hair??? And I want pictures!No...I haven't started the cooking yet. My house is just about ready for the final "wipe through". Have to wash the floor again anyway cuz juice got spilled. I have to now move all my stuff from the kitchen (except for cupboards I keep closed and tied up with notes on them not to be opened)to the basement and store it out of site til the holiday is over...you know..all the cannisters on the counter, the fridge stuff, etc.. and then I do another cleaning and only then can I start cooking. Lots of work! I may cut back on one casserole on my list. we'll see. It needs to be done by Monday evening...
v...you then "arrange them?" I was rofl about that one...reminds me of the baseball players arranging THEIR stuff!!! I'M SO HAPPY ABOUT YOUR ESTROGEN!!! GREAT news!!! Hot Flashes are just so cool!
Front hookers, back hookers...the consensus here is that we have a lot of hookers from both sides of the fence on this thread!!!
Kelly...I meant rice and beans aren't eaten by some people during Passover. YOu can get any kind of food you want in Israel whether you keep kosher or not and whether it's Passover here or not. During Passover it's hard to find bread, though. But, all the Arab markets have bread and all the Arab restaurants have bread since they don't keep kosher. Tomorrow there will be people in the grocery stores hoarding bread because there are some people who will eat bread anyway. I already saw a grocery cart yesterday filled to the rim with bread that I guess they will freeze. Seems they will be eating more bread during the holiday than when it is actually allowed! There are also places around the country where you can find pork and shell fish..the two main items that we don't eat (and many Arabs don't eat, either).
Amy..that baby is tooooooooooooo cute! Looks like dh was enjoying him!
Laura..you may be on to something...hooking via back or front could be a genetic thing! -
Michele - I want to see pics too! My "insomnia" is very sporadic. I have been sleeping better since I've been exercising and if I can stay awake until 10-ish I sleep pretty well.
The kids were asleep by 12:30 so nothing crazy BUT they were up at 8:00!!
Amy - What CUTE pictures! You can tell that your dh was enjoying himself! ADORABLE!!
Again, I'm being pulled away - I'll be back later. Have a WONDERFUL morning everyone!!! -
The baby is cute but Amy, your husband is a bit of alright!!
Bwahhhh!! All this hooker talk is cracking me up! I went out to dinner last night at a restaurant and my date and I had a few Brazilian beers after which I came home and slept for 11 hours!!
I need to clean this pig pen I call an apartment and hit the road. I have to go to storage and bring out my spring wear.
Have a fun weekend folks! -
By the way...that baby, Amy, has a Fists Up!
Tracy NY...Brazilian beers...hmmm...sounds like you had fun! What is special about Brazilian beers, though? Enlighten me :-)
Ah..spring wear. Just when we thought it was Spring in Israel... it started raining. As we usher in the holiday of Spring, the temps are going to go down to below normal temps. We need V and her hot flashes over this way!!!!
Rosemarie..I'm like that too...I have to be really exhausted, stay up late and then I can sleep through most of the night. -
The installer called this morning our cabinets and backsplash are being installed on April 21 and 22, yeh! We will list our house on May 1. That will give us an additional week to totally get everything in tip top shape. We are so excited to be getting a new dishwasher!!
I am scraping the old paint and washing down the front step so that we can repaint it white maybe next weekend if it is warm. I hope all of this work pays off for us.
Deb - my hubby said my new hair looked nice, didnt mention big hair so he is in the clear.LOL. We can change our name to the "Over the Shoulder Boulder Girls".LOL.:) Will post a picture probably tomorrow when I am home, going out with girlfriend today dinner and a movie.
Amy - I see your new avtar now, you are beautiful!! Forgot to say thanks for the heads up on the Bachelor, does it start Monday night, been too busy cleaning up the house to even look!
Rosemarie - I wish my insomnia was sparadic, it must be the Zoladex injections with the Armidex. I had a pretty good sleep last night though, went to bed at 10:30 a.m., woke once at 3:00 a.m. but went right back to sleep and then at 5:40 a.m. and couldnt go back to sleep. Got up for an hour and then went back to bed at 7:30, tossed and turned and then woke up at 10:00 a.m. I feel pretty rested today.
TracyNY - I thought of a perfect idea, maybe you can start sewing us some cheetah wear for our get together.ha ha!!
Have a super Saturday.
Talk to all later.
Love Michele
