Hi all.  The problem is the I.Q. of the people who vote these bozos in.

So many having pain today.  Sending a big FEEL BETTER vibe out into the universe.

Sun - I have dog ears.  I'm actually in the stay-far-away-from-hospitals camp.  All sorts of nasty things are in hospitals, and I don't just mean rich administrators.  If you have to, you have to, but if I had a choice, I'd prefer not.

The thing is that my brain is just sick to death of making decisions.  It's tired.  I'm tired.  What I want and what I am willing to spend are two distinctly separate things.  I know my MIL is PO'd at me that we sold our last house, as she is a very "house proud" lady and enjoyed the fact that we lived where we did.  I cannot say that I miss the house, but I do miss being able to see practically forever (and really miss seeing the mountain each day).  I get depressed very easily, and am afraid of getting into a situation where my depression takes over, so have tried to look for places that were open.  The house we are looking at right now isn't very open - BUT it's in a good location, has wonderful street appeal, is convenient to most things we are interested in (not work - but that's OK Wink).  I love to garden, and like the fact that what I wanted to do in most places we've looked at is already done here.  Of course there are changes I'd make....  Laughing, but raised flower/vegetable beds everywhere, a HUGE garage (so I can have a workshop - once we get 220 installed), and gas is available in the street.  So, all in all, I think it'll be fine... assuming, of course, that we get it.....  Smile  I'm not crazy about it like I was the last one, but this one doesn't really need as much done, so I actually think it's a better choice at least monetarily.

C for C...that is why I hate carpets!

Athena...you almost sound 'normal' although we would be alarmed if you did sound completely 'normal'.Wink

Blue... love the pics.  I really need to figure out how to post some myself.

GG...hope you find YOUR house soon.

We are living between our old and new place now.  Once the new floors are down in the new house, we will start moving things over.  I spend most of the time here tossing and packing.  Love taking breaks and checking out what you ladies are up to!

Blue - oh the spiders! I agree. Think Tykerb trots, sitting down on the pot in Costa Rica last week and reach to my right for the VERY CLOSE toilet paper - there sits a FRIGGING TARANTELLA! On the paper roll! HOLY CRAP! Literally - all over.

Scuttlers - I don't even know what to say.  Wolf spiders send me running - I think I just would have keeled over right then and there if I ran into a tarantula sitting next to me.  (Shades of little miss muffet)...

Thanks, Pip.  We'll find something, and once we buy it I'll fall in love with it and wonder why on earth I had any doubt going in.  I just have a hard time with commitment.  Like you, though, we both HATE carpet, so the first thing to go will be that.  Thankfully, we are both pretty good at doing things (hubby is better than I - especially since I've been on this letrozole crap), so will do the tear outs, lay tile, replace siding, paint and all that kind of stuff ourselves.

I'm with Alexandria in the AVOID HOSPITALS AT ALL COSTS..camp.  And COSTS is a part of it - tho I expect Medicare will cover this procedure, it's not positive - and I am just SICK about how much hospitals cost around here.  Plus, I'l be given some kind of sedation, have to have someone drive me, pick me up - and this way it's Lydicaine ( sp?) and I drive myself to & back myself.

Thanks for comments tho, it's got me thinking whether it would be worth it.  Hospital is nice, but I really do AVOID it -well, since my gall bladder surgery 5 years ago.  Just want this to be as small, simple, easy as possible.  And "dog ears" are a small price to pay for the ease of doing it as simply as posible.  Is what I'm thinking now, can always change my mind.....

Blue ... Philip looks so cute ... I want to hug him.  And smell that wonderful baby smell.

Kam ... I've had to leave my two dogs alone in the house for 9 hours before. I don't crate them and they were fine.  My Maggie is about 13 years old now, so she's pretty calm.

Scuttlers ... OMG ... just hearing about that made me feel queasy.  For that very reason, I have a bug man come out once a month and spray everywhere in and outside the house.

Enjoyful ... Are you feeling any better?

    hugs,

    Bren

scuttlers ... OMG!  I think I would have had a stroke.

Linda ... there are few things in life I would kill for.  My Dyson is way up there on that list.  We have a canister, a slim upright and I got their stick vacuum for Christmas.  Men are told to never, ever give vacuums for gifts and hubby got a lot of flack from friends 'warning' him about that present but he knows that as long as it's a Dyson he's good Smile

Kam ... a dog sure would enjoy those walks with you!  If you want to explore the possibilities of life with a dog I'd suggest contacting a good pet rescue group in your area.  They always have adult dogs, they know their dogs, and can help you find one that is perfect for your lifestyle.  They are always looking for people to foster their dogs too ... so that might be a way to do a trial and see if it would work out.  Most do insist on fenced yards though ... at least around here.  Dogs can stay home alone in the house for several hours.  My neighbor and I take care of potty stops when needed for each other's dogs.  A lot of vet's offices have vet techs who will stop by to make a little extra money too.  If you go on a trip they need to be boarded unless you have family that can take them in or know somebody who would house/dog sit.  Good for you for thinking about all this stuff instead of just jumping in without thinking about it.

I worry about ours if something happens to us too.  Which is why I am so fond of good rescue groups.  The one we got Daisy from has solved all those problems for us because she has several fenced acres in the country and also boards.  It's like doggie camp for them.  We have an ongoing relationship with her and if anything happens to us and family cannot take our dogs they will go back to her to find new homes.  I put $$$ in our wills to go along for their care.

blue ... that is one seriously cute baby you have there!  But you already knew that didn't you Laughing

I love the idea of cinnamon sticks to keep ants away.  My problem would be that the dogs would eat any cinnamon sticks left laying around.

Sunflowers ... may be different where you are.  Our outpatient surgery centers are not really 'in' the hospital.  You get a little room of your own for both before and after and a nurse assigned to you.  Nice and personal and private too.   And not to nag but (nag on) you will have incisions on your chest and driving yourself might not be a good idea at all (nag off).

Sunnyflowers ... I like what Wabbit wrote about the out-patient center.  That's where I went for my lumpectomy years ago and for the last two colonoscopies I've had.  They treated me like I was a princess.

    hugs,

    Bren

    Thank you...he is so sweet!

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/nsa-phone-records-verizon-court-order

Before anyone gets excited, this has been going on since the Bush years, 2005!

    Excerpt........

The information is classed as "metadata", or transactional information, rather than communications, and so does not require individual warrants to access. The document also specifies that such "metadata" is not limited to the aforementioned items. A 2005 court ruling judged that cell site location data – the nearest cell tower a phone was connected to – was also transactional data, and so could potentially fall under the scope of the order.

But I wonder why is it necessary?  Terrorism plots being foiled????

    Yup Terrorist plots....

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/obama-administration-nsa-verizon-records

Under the Bush administration, officials in security agencies had disclosed to reporters the large-scale collection of call records data by the NSA, but this is the first time significant and top-secret documents have revealed the continuation of the practice under President Obama.

The White House stressed that orders such as the one disclosed by the Guardian would only cover data about the calls rather than their content. A senior administration official said: "Information of the sort described in the Guardian article has been a critical tool in protecting the nation from terrorist threats to the United States, as it allows counter-terrorism personnel to discover whether known or suspected terrorists have been in contact with other persons who may be engaged in terrorist activities, particularly people located inside the United States.

Was also just reading about the Verizon issue.  Some more info on the situation and like Blue mentioned:

(From the first link I'll attach):

"Under Bush, the National Security Agency built a highly classified wiretapping program to monitor emails and phone calls worldwide. The full details of that program remain unknown, but one aspect was to monitor massive numbers of incoming and outgoing U.S. calls to look for suspicious patterns, said an official familiar with the program. That official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss it publicly.

After The New York Times revealed the existence of that wiretapping program, the roundup continued under authority granted in the USA Patriot Act, the official said.

The official did not know if the program was continuous or whether it stopped and restarted at times."

One article from the Associated Press:

"Report: Government Scooping Up Verizon Phone Records"

    http://swampland.time.com/2013/06/06/report-govt-scooping-up-verizon-phone-records/

    And one from CNN:

"Lawmaker: Seizing Americans' phone records helped stop terrorist attack"

Sunny - thanks for the video.  It informed me not to put any claim in for my emergency room visit until 60 days pass so I can make sure I didn't contract Hep A.  I bought the berries 2 days before they pulled them from their shelves, yet they didn't notify me until they'd been in my freezer for 5 days, and eaten.  Sheesh.  My poor gf in Las Vegas....she bought and ate the berries more than 14 days before being notified, so no vaccine will help.  She's in wait and see mode for the Hep A to arrive.

Wow - that sounds like a big event for a doctor's office.  How much do they have to open you up to get those implants out?  I had a very nice colonoscopy at the hospital where they do procedures (outpatient) and day or overnight surgeries.  I just prefer to be at a hospital should something odd happen, but especially if anesthesia is involved.

Wabbit / Bren - my gf suggested taking the dogs at the Humane Society for walks.  They have a little training course for walkers.  I'm one of those that could never foster kittens because I'm just positive I would end up wanting to keep the whole litter.   My hairdresser walked dogs at a kill shelter before she realized it was a kill shelter and one day she arrived to walk "Jimmy" and he was gone...and let's just say, he wasn't adopted.  I fear I'd want to get the full dossier on any new owner that had adopted a dog I had been walking or fostering.  Honestly, my big hesitation is not outliving my animals.  They are so much my children (especially since I don't have children).  I can't imagine anyone doting on my cats like I do (including putting up a $2000 cat fence - so ofcourse, whoever gets my cats gets my house and bank account to go with it - still it's hard to find the person who fits the criteria and doesn't already own a home).

Blue - very beautiful boy.  How wonderful is he to have around?!!!!

Is HL busy being retired? :)

GG -  I sense you want to get settled in.  Better to have it be the right place then rush  just to get it done with.  I understand real estate is rising, but I heard some economic reports the last 2 days that may indicate the housing market is slowing a bit now - though I get it, Seattle/Tacoma are not soft markets.  When the prices rise enough, people who are currently underwater, will start putting their houses on the market and that should stablize prices.  I don't think we have totally unwound that crazy market yet.  There is such a shortage of places to meet demand because of HAR loans, banks slowing up on foreclosures and people who don't want to sell because they are under water.
