    Libby -

The IQ test was directed at Palin, not at Issa.  Likewise, the background check comment was directed at Issa, though I bet Palin may have some interesting stuff in her past, too.

I hurt everywhere today.  Has anyone else had Zometa along with Tykerb?  Any unusual pain with that combo?

Sorry you've got the pain bug today, too, Blue.

I LOVE wisteria, and am loving the photos!  When I die, I want my ashes scattered around a big ol' wisteria vine.

What are the white flowers called?  The lower one looks like mother goose, with a bonnet.  :-)

I think they're irises.  Ya, I'm getting very sensitive to the stimulator so its playing havoc with my joints right now.....that and the Arimidex.  So now we are going downwards on the voltage...trial and error.  I'm not shutting this sucker off!

I haven't been on any of your meds but am sorry for your pain too.

I'm with E, I LOVE wisteria, and the soft scent  - Blue fabuous pictures.

OK -add me to the Freddie Muntz who section????  I am do happy to be failing so many popular culture tests..

Athena - PAWS UP, so good to see you.

E - a friend learning to ride many years ago wore LAYERS & LAYERS of Adult diapers as padding...she swears it helps... I also think we should take up a collection to get you a Riding Airbag...

News, from another thread - does eveyone know that RIT Dye makes something called SunGuard, to use in washing clothes to give sun protection?  IT DOES.  The preprepared clothes are expensive, but I've got a buncha old shirts that would be perfect covers, esp. walking, gardening, bird watching ( twitchers in BritainLaughing)

And more good news, my PS at yesterday visit ( 1st in almost 6 years) said removal of lumps ( know as implants) can be removed in an office visit.  WHEW!  She prefers hospital, but will do in office.  Think the look on my face when she said hospital influcenced her.  Won't have the "cosmetic" attention available in office, meaning I'll still have fat lumps known as dog ears under each arm, but WTF, I've had'em for as long as I can remember...am SO eager to be able to do my favorite yoga poses ( Sun Salutation, DownWard Facing dog) without feeling like a vice pressing on lumps on my chest. I don't call it pain - but I HATE THE FEEELING.  Told PS I waited until done with Arimidex cuz I couldn't face another thing while so focused on daily survivalKiss

Hope to have it done later this month, or mid July.

SENDING CELEBRATORY HUGS, cheers, to Susan Rice, and Susan Powers!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Pledge of Allegiance, Jackie, THANK YOU!

E, so sorry you're in pain! Can't help with chemo questions -- just sending "feel better" thoughts your way.

Yep, figured out that background checks were for Grand Theft Auto and IQ tests were for Bonkers Bachmann -- although I'm sure the IQ test would weed out a lot of the nuttier types. I am equally sure that the background check would weed out a lot of unsavory characters as well - on both sides of the aisle, I am sorry to say.

Malcolm in the Middle - don't know that either. Oh well, I'm sure it was insanely popular but there aren't many TV shows that interest me.

I like the idea of background checks, really like that idea, so it will never happen.

Sunflowers ... glad you will be able to get the implants removed!  Why don't you want to do outpatient hospital though?  The outpatient surgery place I had my surgeries at was wonderful ... much pampering.  I kind of hated to leave.  Is your available place not so good?

Hoping Glenna is sleeping and that E and blue are getting relief from the pains.

    In Union Thug news ...

Firefighters were able to rescue many cats from a home that caught on fire early Wednesday afternoon in Franklin Township. One of the homeowners was reluctant to let a neighbor help her from the burning home because she did not want to leave her pets. At last check, 9 out of 11 cats had been rescued and were in good condition. "Like" to thank the firefighters for their hard work and dedication. Read more details here -- http://bit.ly/11iuP0a

Firemen rescued 9 cats from a house fire yesterday.  This picture, posted by a local news channed, generated much buzz on FB.  Women all over Indy plotting ways to get 'rescued' ... the comments were a hoot.  And the cats are cute too.

So much wonderful stuff on this thread!  Love reading and viewing all of it!

RetiredLibby, I think it was you who posted the article on Issa earlier this week.  Wow, what a sociopath (in my view).  Amazing how these people get elected!

Athena, so good to read your posts and I hope your oncology appointment today goes well.

Blue and Enjoyful, I hope you both get some relief from your pain.  Pain sucks and I'm so sorry you are experiencing it.  Frown

And Glenna, hope you finally got some sleep.  Btw, I love what you said in your recent post.  You said: "I am not judgmental and really get upset that those who say they are Christians sometimes seem to be the most judgmental people on the earth.  They make the rest of us look bad."

I so agree with that sentiment!  I am a church going Protestant, but I was taught acceptance and tolerance and unfortunately, I find many "so-called Christians" to hold some of the most intolerant and oppressive views and they are usually the ones clutching and quoting their Bibles and predicting all sorts of gloom and doom for anyone who is not like them.

Wondering if Chickadee is on her cruise.  If so, hope she is having a marvelous time!

Sunflowers, glad you had a good visit with your PS.

Blue, loved the Virgil cartoon a page or so back.  Unfortunately there are a lot of "Virgils" and "Virgilettes" here in the U.S.A! Laughing

    Jackie, love the camping pic.

Don't have time to address all the contributors to this thread, but to everyone who posts (or just reads) here, wishing you all a good Thursday.

    Hi Everyone,

Been busy working this morning ... nice and cool out today, but lots of rain!

Kam .. I have a border collie mix.  She's a wonderful little dog.  Very furry though and requires a lot of brushing.  Sometimes, I can't keep up with it and I have to just cut her fur off.  She sheds a lot as well .. that really fine kind of dog fur.

Maggie is the sweetest dog in the whole world.  They do like to be able to run and "work" a bit.  You would need a fenced in yard, as they will take off and run and run.  I have to walk her on a leash down in my fields or she will take off after a deer and not come back.

Enjoyful ... I am so sad to hear of your pain today.  I don't know about Zometa and Tykerb, but a friend on the Zometa had joint pain too.  Are you on Femara as well?  That combo sounds like it would cause pain.

Blue ... Hope your stimulator is not acting up.  Hate to hear of you suffering.  Love the picture up above about the Republican scientists. hahahahaha!

Sunnyflowers ... I like what Rabbit wrote to you about outpatient surgery.  They take really good care of you and you don't have to be admitted to the hospital.  I think I would be nervous about a procedure in the office.

I need to run ... the client I'm working for today is sending a huge amount of PDF files and I ran out of printer ink.  arghhh.  Have to go out in the rain.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday,

    hugs,

    Bren

I'd go for background checks and I do agree.....we have people on both sides that have un-savory elements about themselves that complicate issues and much of it ends up stealing the focus on things that should get done.   I'm hoping 2014 will CLEARLY show  what is and is NOT wanted by a huge majority of the people of the United States.  Of course, hopefully some day....the crooks won't be in Congress and other parts of the government -- meaning either side and we will have some true give and take, while helping those who need it and furthering  all the great aspects of our world and ourselves.

So sorry that a few of us are in pain.  Sending good thoughts, if not great drugs and/or any other real relief that can be had via the world wide web.  Just crap you guys have to endure this.

I had a beautiful wisteria, but had to cut it down when I added on to my house.  Not sure why I didn't atleast try to transplant.  I planted it in my 20's, but had no idea about pruning back then, nor how aggressive they could be, and ofcourse, it was in a totally wrong spot, nonetheless, I adored the late spring flowers.

Thanks for all of the interesting discussion on Border Collies.  Ok, if they love to herd, would they herd my two cats?? LOL...one of my cats wouldn't mind, the other might be hanging around the Border Collie's neck if he/she tried to herd her.  Living alone, I do worry about further responsibilities with animals...not so much the day to day, but if I don't outlive them.  I have no family, so no options there.  It's going to take one special person(s) to live up to my standards, too!  My cats are 7 years old....I desperately want to outlive them, for both of our sakes.  How do we commit to anything in this state?

    Happy Thursday all!

Blue - gorgeous, gorgeous breathtaking pictures. Please keep them up!!  So sorry to hear that you are in pain, though I'm certain you'll get your stimulator fine-tuned soon.

E - I'm just on femara (letrozole) and it has increased my pain level quite a bit.  I've never taken the others things you are forced to ingest, but all of these drugs seem to hurt.

Athena - so glad to "see" you, and so glad that you feel well enough to politic. :)

And everyone else - I cannot tell you how much you all mean to me.  I don't post daily, but love reading even when I'm not feeling like posting.

Kam, about border collies - we had a couple of them when I was young.  They are very very high energy and extremely intelligent.  They take a lot of time, so if you don't want a real companion who needs your attention and a lot of stuff to do - pretty much all the time - then don't get one.  Though they get a "bit" more laid back as they age - they are never (at least ours were never) truly laidback like a golden gets.  Also, as Jackie mentioned, their coats need a fair bit of upkeep as well (though not as bad as a Sheltie)

I took the day off yesterday.  My back was hurting fiercely and I just couldn't see myself spending the day at my desk.  So we rested, house hunted a little, and then spent the afternoon on the water.  It was a GORGEOUS day - and I really am sick and tired of spending my life at work.  I think part of the reason I'm having such a difficult time with the whole househunting thing is that I relate it too much to working.  I cannot TELL you how much I wish that the prices were not rising, as I'd love to just not make a decision.  As it is, I believe there is another house we are about to make an offer on.  We'll see.  (I do love the yard on this one, the lady who is leaving is a gardener, and every single bit of the yard is gardened.  There is not a single solitary blade of grass.)

GG - I love the idea of the garden being in, and no grass!!  That is a huge $$$ value, btw.  Gardening has been a soothing retirement hobby for me - suprisingly, and I'm just getting started!!  I understand about looking from the perspective of being employed versus what you might feel when retirement.  Life, values do morph when you have more time at home and don't have to think about commuting.  Physical surroundings become even more important, or maybe less, if you plan to travel all of the time.

Thanks for the info on the collie.  I've never quite figured out what to do with a dog when I leave town, even if to Medford for the day (on a 100 degree day), which is usually 8-9 hours, or more, for medical appointments, shopping, etc..  Can't leave a dog in the car.   Kind of think most dogs can't be left alone that long, nor would I want to.  That and breast cancer usually stop the thought process.

I love to walk in the woods though, for miles and miles, and know a dog would fully appreciate that, as would I.

Yes, the sign that I am doing better is that I post more - though when not posting I think about you, my wonderful pridemates, all the time and wonder what trouble (fun) we are getting ourselves into that I am missing - lol!

((((E)))) - I haven't had tykerb but haven't felt any pain with the zometa. Are you feeling it where the mets have been identified?

IQ tests???? First you would never get a filibuster proof majority to approve them - too many jobs in congress would be lost.

Lindasa - when I think of border collies I think of 101 dalmatians - the collies were the ones to helped to locate the little dogs, I think.

Kam, do you have any neighbours who have dogs that need some exercise (like a long walk in the woods)?  When we lived in England, I used to walk a neighbour's Red Setter, Seamus, as she and her hubby were both professors and couldn't always get home at noon.  We were on the south coast so our usual trek was up the Downs (sounds funny, that!) where the views were gorgeous overlooking the English Channel.  However, Seamus was true to his breed and always looked for cow pies in which to roll around to change his scent.  It was a struggle, always!!!

E -- So sorry those drugs are giving you grief.  I woke up this a.m. with a throbbing right wrist and thumb joint.  I suspect arthritis (assisted by letrozole) is really setting in, and it IS raining, so don't tell me the weather has nothing to do with pain!

On a housekeeping note:  this is the time of year when ants breed like crazy and love coming indoors to look for crumbs and stuff.  Someone told me about using cinnamon sticks around door frames and any other places those little creatures might come through.  Apparently, ants thoroughly dislike cinnamon.  So far it's working!   And......while I don't want this to sound like an advertisement, I must tell you that I used my airmiles to "purchase" a top of the line Dyson vacuum, and I cannot believe how fabulous it is -- and how much my cannister Kenmore left behind!  The Dyson has picked up enough cat hair to knit a sweater, I swear!!!
