Editing my last post.  Using racial slurs is not the same as lacking reading comprehension, though I suppose they could go hand in hand.

I loved those animal ultrasounds too - more than the human ones, probably because the animal ones haven't been exploited as a sledgehammer to control women's bodies. Frown

Back in NJ from Vermont.  Long tiring drive.  Not doing a sedar this year - ok, I'm not religious but try to have a speed sedar most years.

    Night all.  Ignor cantering ponies.

    Friendships that save lives:

    Mouse and frog

CAPTION: In 2006, a photographer in India snapped this photo of a mouse perched on the back of a frog as floodwaters rose. The annual summer monsoon rains arrived early that year, but this lucky little mouse managed to keep its head above water, thanks to a froggy friendship.

    *******

    Cheetah and dog

CAPTION: Cheetah Sahara and Anatolian shepherd dog Alexa grew up together at the Cincinnati Zoo and became close friends, proving that cats and dogs really can get along. The animals are part of the zoo’s Cat Ambassador Program, which works in conjunction with the Cheetah Conservation Fund to protect these threatened wild cats. The Cat Ambassador Program educates farmers in Namibia and South Africa on how these dogs can be used to protect livestock from cheetahs without shooting the cats. Alexa and Sahara are now 10 years old, and new cat-and-dog couple Tommy T. and Pow Wow are the stars of the program.

E, enjoyed your list of words and owl pictures! I have had a monsterful time with grandson, Thomas, the last 5 days, but alas, back to the real world. Chemo tomorrow and all the good things that go along with it. I'm making a very sad owl face and thinking of my Benadrylian SE's .... Hope Rufus leaves you alone during the move!

Have been enjoying the pictures and commentary. I totally avoid the other thread. Can't remember which of you dears very strongly recommended that but I think it was very good advice. Enough stress in my life without inviting it in! Besides, I get enough of that when I visit my mom and her DH in Florida. He's got guns within reach no matter where he is in his house and lives in fear. Who needs that? I have an alarm system and that works just fine for me! All I want is a burglar to run away as fast as his two dumb feet will carry him. I sure as heck don't want to shoot anyone .... Or have them grab my gun and use it on me!

I met one woman who ran the cheetah ambassador for the cincinnati zoo in conjunction with another book that didn't quite make it.  She was running her cheetahs through her farm outside the city.  Used a rabbit type lure.  The cheetahs were amazing - and so friendly.

    The Obama family; image @Wikipedia

    The Obama family; image @Wikipedia

There is an unwritten rule among journalists that Presidential children are out-of-bounds, especially information about their travels. Or at least there was before Barack Obama became president. Until 2009, when he took office and brought his two young girls to live in the White House, the Beltway media had followed this rule. It’s not just courtesy, it’s a question of security. According to Pail Farhi of The Washington Post, this is the informal agreement:

“Presidential administrations have long been protective of the first family’s minor children, and reporters in Washington have mostly observed the taboo on stories or photographs of them outside official and semi-official events. The ban on such coverage has existed through many administrations by informal agreement with the White House Correspondents’ Association, which represents the interests of journalists who cover the president.”

But Matt Boyle of Breitbart.com violated that rule Monday when he reported that “a source” had tipped off the website about Sasha and Malia Obama’s spring vacation plans. Subsequent reports in the form of Tweets from other guests confirmed that the girls were at an unnamed resort.

And why did Boyle think it was okay to reveal where the President’s daughters were vacationing? So he could bitch about how much it cost, of course. Because no other First Family has ever done anything that cost taxpayers anything. Nope, not ever. Except when they did.

There were similar bouts of whining when foreign reporters found Malia Obama on her spring break trip to Mexico, in March of 2012. But they deleted those stories when the First Lady politely asked them to do so. Politico, who had picked up on the stories, also complied with Mrs. Obama’s requests to remove the information from their website. At that time, Mrs. Obama’s communication director released this statement:

“From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.”

This double standard is beyond partisan. And, in this case, it’s downright dangerous. But people (I can’t call them ‘journalists’) like those who write for Breitbart could care less about that as long as they can get in an attack on the President or his family. They love to stir up ill-will towards President Obama, so much that they will extend their hatred to his children. That’s pretty damned despicable. Though the Secret Service reply to questions from Boyle about where the Obama girls are brings the usual, “We can neither confirm nor deny…,” you can bet they are not ignoring him.

Still enjoying the pictures.  Blue, I'm glad you put that article in.  I read it....offended and upset.  I would think most people would be as when things like this get started they could conceivably  ( though I sure hope it would never happen ) carry over to whomever is POTUS.  Just a thought for those who are possibly fine with this behaviour right now.

Supreme Court sort of back themselves into a corner on the marriage thing.  Not much will change I don't think, but then there could be a BIG surprise.

Boy can I ever too, though what usually happens is two or three dogs and a couple of cats get in my recliner with me....you'd think it to be an over-sized recliner but it is regular size.

Hi, Glenna - hope chemotherapy is "doable" - that's the only word I have to say about it - but MORE doable than you expect or have known.  I will happily take some of the credit for IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE - put on Block enuf so there's nothing to read if anyone is tempted.

Sheesh - a lecture on what to "don't like, don't read" from someone who doesn't take her own advice.  Aw, I like being with friends WHO, respect, admire, wish apricity ( oh, E, that was a FABULOUS link, I expecially LOVE owls) on the President of the United States and his family.  Isn't it gonna be good when we can in 2016, say the President of the United States and HER family.

Athena - rainbowponies still whinneying, really? I must've lost my Rainbow Scooter Spangled Hat Detector, nah, don't even miss it.  Having too much pleasure seeing Blue's pictures, learning WISDOM from my Friends, a friendship thread after all, and keeping an eye on the SCOTUS.

Why, this is not a rhetorical question, really, I can't imagine why someone wouldn't want someone else to love & marry & get the same right for the "pursuit of happiness" that eveyone has a right for/to? It's all about LOVE, what a lovely word, I wish LOVE and APRICITY for all....mostly my FRIENDS on this friendship thread...

Except for the asian ladybugs, ;-))))))

Chickadee has sadly allowed her feathers to be removed. They were falling out faster and faster and no amount of denial would work. I blubbered while DH shaved and DS held my hand.

Lots of lovely hair for the birdies to make nests with though. I'll scatter it near their favorite hangout.

    This sucks.
