((((Chickadee)))) I'm so sorry. It's always the chemos with x's and y's that seem to dispense with feathers. May they grow back soon!!
-
Chickadee, chocolate makes everything better.

-
((((Chicky)))) I'm so sorry for the loss of plumage.

May it grow back stronger and fuller than ever.

{{{{Chickadee}}}} I was just reading a StageIV thread to follow your experience with this "new" drug - dang, with all those SE's it's gotta work big time! Bet you look as gorgeous without feathers as you do with'em. And, they're gonna grow back more beautiful than ever.
I never had to deal with the beasty drug you're taking, but when stomach issues would happen for me, I usually found two choices: pitted prunes, a little water, lemon juice in microwave for a minute for one problem, and good ole Immodium for the other.
Can you take EMEND for nausea with your protocol. That was the best of all the ones I tried.
There seems to be something particularly evil about the schedule of this med: by the time you're starting to feel better, it's time for another infusion. Whew - and manyother 4 letter words, also my favorite "phuque" which is a "fancyschmancy" 5 letters to serve the same purpose!
{{{{Chickadee}}}}} - keep chirping, we're all cheering for you...and sending hugs, & more hugs. Hope the sucky times are over soon - and you are GRATEFUL for the good results...

(((Chickadee)))
The nest idea is beautiful, though. There's a poem by a writer I like - Susan Vreeland, she wrote "The Girl in Hyacinth Blue," a wonderful novel - about her experience losing her hair that touches on that same image. I'll try to find it to post.

Chickadee, here's the poem, written to her husband during a recurrence of her lymphoma. It's called "Coming Home":
Walking slowly out the jetty into the Pacific,
Wind flapping my straw hat's brim,
Lifting it dangerously off my forehead,
Threatening to whisk it off across the rocks,
I felt his hand catch it, just in time,
And press it down, securely.
It would not stay. I took it off,
And found the rim lined with tufts of hair
Caught in the weave.
Without a word, I showed him.
Without a word, our eyes met.
Was it wind that watered his?
Was it warmth I felt in the cool breeze?
We climbed down the rocks and sat by water's edge,
Scattering the sandpipers, my back to him,
My body between his legs spread wide.
He moved to shelter me from wind.
"Pull out my hair," I said. "It's ready."
His kiss on my thin shoulder lingering,
As though asking if I was sure.
I started him, pulling out my bangs--
"Like this," I said, "It doesn't hurt."
I opened my hand to the wind,
And watched it fly.
In a moment he started in
As gently as our first lovemaking,
A soft moan escaping.
"Maybe birds will find it for their nests," I said.
Four pulls more, and his despair replied,
"They don't deserve it."
Methodical, he was, as in everything,
The engineering mind.
He started at the nape of my neck,
Working back and forth up my skull,
His love expressed in thoroughness,
While I worked backwards from my forehead.
Seaborne coolness tingled my naked scalp.
Our hands met at my crown, and grasped.
"Are you cold?" he asked.
"No. It feels delicious. Free."
His lips pressed the back of my bare head
And entered my heart.
"You will be coming home," he said.
"I will bring you home" - a sea whisper
Of faith and strength transferred.

Linda, that is beautiful.
Oh, Chickadee - the baby birds will be so grateful for your soft and loving gift. It will become baby bird blankets. (((((Chickadee)))))

Linda -- Just had to add my thanks for posting that absolutely beautiful poem. It gave me chills......
-
Laaaaaaa...

-
lewing - thank you, what a beautiful, beautiful poem.
-
Linda that was so sensuous and lovely, thank you. I'm trying to look in the mirror but its hard. So I pulled a hat down snugly and I can look. The scar from a 12 year olds foolish sled run into a bench is front and center again. I had forgotten about that scar. I didn't duck enough. LOL.

Hugs to our naked Chick! (pictured above
)What a beautiful poem. I'm not supposed to cry at work - but when I read it, I did.
Blue - as always loved the pictures. The horse was gorgeous - and Yorkie, the puffer fish - well, not gorgeous, but oh so cool to see.
-
Chick, what a wonderful way to share with nature. I rember the night my head was shaved. I cried so hard. It took a while to be able to look in the mirror. Sending warm hugs.

Plumage ideas for chickadee - I thought of Gucci's 2011 fall/winter collection (also for anyone on chemo drugs that have x's y's and z's in them, which always seem to be the worst):
The Gucci woman is someone who has everything perfectly in place, with not a feather out of line - and she wears a hat:

Sorry - couldn't get individual pictures to post - I hate giving just links.
ETA, Mods - is there a problem posting from that web site - could you please see if you can post at least the first look? Maybe my picky 'puter is giving me grief for posting looks from four seasons ago. :-) Many thanks!
-
Chick -- everyone has been so eloquent. Even when you know, you just can't quite make that leap in one jump. My heart is heavy for you and my thoughts are with you. A wonderful, touching poem, full of reconciling the loss of what goes so far to make us, US. Your going to be better than ever.
I came home from work to find out today at around noon Oregon time, I became a great-grandma for the first time. Just hope the rest of the many greats don't come too fast and furious.

<<<Chickadee>>>>
Plumage does not determine the beauty of a bird's song.
-
Thank you all you sweethearts. I've pulled a hat down on my head for now.......I do NOT look Anne Hathaway Hot with no hair. Gonna take some getting used to.
-
Chickee - none of us probably look Anne Hathaway hot even WITH hair - no worries. You're 'mongst friends.

-
Jackie, congratulations!!!
-
We look like Sigourney Weaver. This pic was taken after my brain surgery. I have scars too and now nubs. I refer to them as my antennae! Don't worry Chickadee, you're beautiful dammit!

-
CONGRATULATIONS JACKIE! I will be a grandmother for the second time next month!
-
Jackie - being a Grandma is fun - wish my kiddles lived closer (or I to them...)
