I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange

I do think that the Dems have really pulled it out - wonderful speeches, yet I find the demise of the old Republican party, the disappearance of people like former Governor Crist and Olympia Snow, to be sad. They've thrown out anyone who's moderate, anyone who suggests compromise or cooperation with Dems.  I believe that the country does benefit from dialogue between different viewpoints, but I don't believe it's really possible with the current make-up of the Republican party.  

 

Obama rocked it also IMO.  Some won't listen but I like to think common sense eventually gets through to most people. 

Richard Lugar lost his primary too ... nasty the way they went after him.  I considered him an intelligent statesman and voted for him most of his career.  He lost me when he pandered to Bush/Cheney ... and he knew they were leading us into nothing but trouble.  He 'sqeaked up' a couple of times but was silenced quickly.  In spite of giving in to the radicals over and over again they still knifed him.  He should have known better.  All of the moderates should have known better IMO.   

I want a President who cares about all of the people of this country.  The feeling I get with some is that they see the country as their personal play sets.  To do with whatever benefits them and cements their position as 'top dog'. 

Speaking of dog ... today's project is a trip to Petsmart.  And a search for an ornamental tree of some sort for the backyard.  The freeze we got late and then the drought took out our flowering plum bush and the magnolia bush.  New weeping willow tree is growing like a weed though.

There were two byelections yesterday in Ontario. The minority Liberals wanted to win both of them to gain a majority. The third party Conservatives wanted to win something to gain credibility for their less than popular leader. The left leaning New Democratic Party wanted to win too. It turned out that the Conservatives lost the seat they had to the NDP and the Liberals maintained one seat. No majority for the Liberals who inexplicably have declared war on teachers and other public service workers. Popularity of the NDP is rising as the Conservatives sink.  There might be hope.
It causes rumbling in my brain when the talking heads on TV say that the US election is close and Romney could win. My tummy flips a bit too. Most worrisome.

Sorry to hear that Lassie and Linda. I am so tired of it here. I'm hoping we can move forward with an Obama win.

Could anyone please explain how dismissing all members of a different party, and calling them names like "tealiban" inspires members of that party to work with the other side? 

I too want a President who cares about ALL the people of this country, not one who dismisses many of them because they don't share his world view, who listens for years to a pastor who condones violence against people based on their race(talk about self-loathing), and who pits one group against another to make himself seem cool. 

What do you find inspiring about a woman who lies about who she is to obtain favorable status when seeking admission to school, and employment, and promotion?  Does it not bother you that in her false claims of Native American status she may have prevented someone or several someones who actually have that qualification from getting ahead because their slot in that institution's affirmative action program was already filled by this impostor?

I have read and watched Horrible murder mysteries and I dont go around killing people. Watched scary horror films, never saw a Vampire or Zombie. Watched poor girl gets rich movies and read stories,too. NEVER got rich. Just saying, Patmom, just listening, watching, reading DOES NOT mean you are going to be that way. I am a non violent,peaceful person, who will back off of any type of violence. But Im also a person who does not like silliness, dropping in on conversations that have nothing do do with me. I have great news!  I got another new client this week.  My marketing is starting to work.  I am so excited.  And the reports are fun to do.  They are different than the usual psycho-educational reports I do.  This doctor does neuropsych work and it's really interesting!  Yay for me!  I'm still sending out my brochures and letters.  I figured out it takes about 100-150 mailings to get one client.

There is a bit of a difference between watching a movie that you know is a work of fiction for two hours one evening, and listening in church every week for years to a pastor who is supposed to be instructing you in the specific beliefs of your religion when it comes to shaping the way you live your life and your attitudes toward other people. 

Would you feel as generous toward someone who brought impressionable young children to family friendly events run by a white supremacist group?  In my book both the followers of black liberation theology and white supremacists are hate groups, just with different targets for their anger.
