I'm winding down for bed listening to the rain, wind and thunder. I pulled the patio pots up against the wall, as the wind will be strong overnight (and now). My brother and his wife took me out to dinner tonight (Steak! And this yummy cherry limeade). We all got home before the rain broke loose, so :)

I asked my SIL if the place looked as bad as I thought it did, but she said she could see a lot of progress; I just have a LOT of stuff to unbox. Still haven't unearthed the cutlery or my coffeemaker - grr! But I have plastic spoons and forks and I have tea, so it'll do. The kittlins are VERY purry, kissy-face happy with the new place. They've never had a patio door to plant themselves in front of before. And lots of new corners to explore.

My SIL is storing my collapsed packing boxes in her basement, as my sister is moving in Oct./Nov. (depends on when the current occupant can get out.) They're only moving about 6 blocks, but they have one lot now and have neighbors who... intrude, noisily on all sides. They're buying a 15 acre parcel that runs along Mom's 12 acre parcel. SPACE! And they can keep a closer eye on Mom. Win-win. Mom's property is already in my sister's name for inheritance purposes, so that will work out well for all of them. We'll have to go down and help them move and transplant their flowers, bushes, etc. Maybe we can have a weinie roast while we're at it. :)

Yeah, even that trusty truth, er bs-o-meter can only take so much!

I shouldn't complain, cause after all we bc gals do need some comic relief.

We do, Yorkie, and thanks to this thread we get it.
Really - cancer is one of the worst things that can happen. Many of us wonder whether we will reach our life expectancy. To think that even cancer groups have groupies is pretty awful. I don't mind being sarcastic when there is such a selfish breach of trust.

    Back to BCO B&G....

Yramal - So glad things are improving on the job.  What's the saying?  When life gives you lemons, squeeze the juice out and hit the bastards with the peels.

Yorkie, Athena:  Took a look over there myself.  Fingers started to twitch and had to run away fast before I could get sucked into the vortex.  Maybe someone needs to call Doctor Who.

Typing is all the way back!  YAY!  Still get pain in my wrist and thumb if I drive for too long, and I can't play guitar yet.Frown

My DD in California called me crying for an hour last night.  She had one interview for an internship with NBC and then she was rejected from the next round.  It's almost harder when she gets close and then is disappointed.  She's been out there for  three years since graduating from USC screenwriting programs, trying to sell scripts or get a low level tv writing job.  She's written 9 features, about 7 pilots, has so much talent, but just not the luck.  It's such a tough field.

Have a  great Saturday, all.  I'm off to a bar mitzvah in Manhattan.

Have a great time Alexandria.  I know what you mean.  My youngest daughter has a job but not what she wants to do.  She graduated from York University, 4 year degree in theatre and other than a few gigs here and there, nothing spectacular to report.  Beauty and talent don't amount to a hill of beans these days.  She's getting married at the end of the month so that's OK!

Sandy, what beautiful children! Alexandria, your DD is in a similar position to one of my DDs. It is very discouraging when talented, strong, and eager to work young people can't get a darn job!

    Blue - lovely children!

Alexandria - glad you are mending. Have YOU heard anything on the job front yet - I seem to remember you had an interview? Sorry about your DD. Luck is sadly a big part of career success.

Wabbit - that is sad about Lugar. So there will be no moderate republicans in the senate next year? Apart from Susan Collins, perhaps? What a vacuum of power, ideas and purpose. The US will become a one-party state of the GOP keeps up this nosedive, and that won't be good for anyone.

Blue, gorgeous kids! I know you're proud of them. As everyone is about their own.

Well, if I get in a need of a laugh, I'll check things out over there. Need a second cup of coffee first, though.

Ditched spin class to sleep in this morning. Work has been hell, and even on my days off I had to be somewhere early early. Feels so nice to be in a quiet house with coffee and kitties and chilly air and sunshine.

Maybe I WON'T read that other thread. Spoil my mood???

Hi, everyone!  I can't believe how many pages I've missed...  I will never be able to keep up now that school is on...  I hope you all are doing okay.

    Blue, your children are beautiful.

Have a great day--one and all!

Probably don't need to chime in with the gorgeous children, but I will anyway....and well, I second everything else.  As well, I always seem to notice how fast the changing color of hair seems to come to the Presidents we have.  I as well think the Pres. is VERY concerned over trying to get us on the solid path while dealing with the loonies on Rep. side, which does speak to anyone being willing to have such a job.  That is really deep and caring concern for the world.

Ok.....for being here such a short time, I'll have to fess' up I guess.  I've been going there too and it is extremely amusing.  In fact sometimes frightening.  I'm not against alternatives but ( my problem ) I must be a little too grounded in reality, and is something I didn't even completely realize until I started reading there.   Sigh !!!  I must be losing my childhood now.

Hope you all have the lovely sunshine that is hanging around outside my house.

BLUE - what gorgeous human beings you've created!  Eager to learn "the secret."Wink

Sandy - I was thinking what you wrote about why some people follow this thread if they get so bothered by what we write. No idea what the criticism is, cuz use the Block/ Ignore button.  More pleasant for me. Just too weird, curious, this thread isn't on the active list, the EFFORT it must take to keep track (unless people who so disagree keep this thread in their Favorites List?) - huh?  Now, that would be really weird, strange.

Bren - good to hear from you - hope all is well.

We're getting that storm that left hail out west of us, have us under a tornado watch too.  Time to go hide under the duvet & read!!!!  Stay well and healthy, happy everyone.

Speaking of reading, I just started a biography of Mary Baker Eddy, called Persistent Pilgrim (how do I underline here?, fascinating! My grandmother was a Christian Scientist, and my belief system mirrors that religion in many ways. Obviously I go to doctors, but in other than that I have always bought into CS. Was taken as a young child many times to the CS church, although my parents raised me a Methodist.

Sunnyflowers ... Tim just called.  He heard about the tornado warnings in your area and wondered if they extended this far south.  We're expecting a huge storm soon.  So far, thankfully, no tornado watch is this area.

I'm still battling this headache from yesterday ... think I'll take a pill and go color and just chill out for awhile.

    hugs to all,

    Bren

Woke up at 4:30am to Miss Poppy galloping around upstairs - had to get up to make sure she hadn't opened the back verandah door and let a possum in.

Also bad fire smell today - we haven't had rain for over a month and there have been some bush fires just north of the city.

Big effort on my part yesterday - swept, washed and rolled up the pool cover. I was aching all over after that.

Golf day to day, so time to get Steve up.

    Hi, Bren

Yup we went from watch to warning - only thing I can do is get into the bath tub with pillows over my head.  Learned that from a friend who lives in Arlington TX - and she really had to DO IT a few months ago - yikes!  They've even had them on Long Island just a while ago...hard to imagine...hopefully will just be big thunder boomers!

Hope Alexandria is ok in NJ - and all well around DC - think this came in mostly from the west...hang in there everyone!

I just got home from my record distance ride 12.48kms (7.75 miles) in 47 minutes.

Got swooped on by another magpie - tying CD's to my helmet obviously doesn't work - will have to go for the cable tie solution like everyone else. Lucky I bought those cycling glasses - the bloody thing flew in from the side and actually contacted the lense - could have been my eye.

Looking forward to resting for the rest of the day.

    Stay safe girls

Hi all,  Just got back from New York City.  Thunderstorms all the way, but  the tornadoes were not near me.  Hope everyone else is ok.  Sunflowers, did they pass you by?

    Blue, what beautiful children!

susie:  glad you're keeping up the biking.  i'm doing the stationary right now because I'm still not supposed to lift heavy things.  Your ride sound like Hitchcock's The Birds.

It is so hard watching our kids struggle.

My second interview was supposed to be last Monday in New Brunswick, but it was changed to next Thursday.  the word is they are thinking of me for a position here in town.  Will keep you all posted.

May be going to D.C. area in the next two weeks or so.  Athena, maybe can stop by your den.  Will let you know if it pans out.
