Strangely enough I have never "met" Marybe but have received cookies from her (it had to do with a bet) - she is truly one special person and I wish I had a tenth of her energy.
-
Barb-----we are sending you ourselves into the pockets and purses you have. Stay well, Don,t Tire yourself. Marybe knows the LOVE you bring is for her and her family, But the Love you maybe feeling right now is for you from all your friends. Stay Well----------kad2kar

Barb, what kad2kar said.
be as gentle with yourself as you can be,
-
Thanks all, it was not unexpected but was still hard. She passed very peacefully, just like she wanted. I am selfishly wishing she had stayed longer but it was her time.
-
Thank you Barbara. You are a true friend. Marybe really touched my heart. A kind soul!
-
Glad it was peaceful - so sorry for your loss.
-
Barbara ... sending you lots of love. I know how hard it was to lose your dear friend. Marybe was a sweet soul and she will be sorely missed.
Sending you a big hug and wishes for safe travel home.

Barbara
I am so sorry for your loss. You did such a good thing.
-
Barbara, please take care of yourself. I'm glad the passing was easy for her.
-
Barbara - I'm so glad you were there with her and she knew we were all there in spirit.

It was peaceful as she would want. I am glad.

I echo all the above sentiments. Relieved that the negative anticipation is over, but still so sorry to say good-bye .

I hate cancer. I hate that Marybe didn't get to take her trip to Europe. I pray for a cure.
-
I so agree Glenna. This disease is hideous.
-
Thank you Barbara for being there. I find it amazing that Marybe was working up until a couple of weeks ago.

Deval Patrick has a high voice, but he is a good speaker.
-
Yes....whomever is from Maine....thank you for Deval Patrick. I loved his speech.

Barbara - and all who cared for Marybe: I am so sorry.
-
Just as I got ready to watch M. Obama's speech last night......a camera was panning the crowd and I saw our former town mayor ( a woman I might add ) sitting there ....good omen for me, but then I was already feeling after listening to the Patrick speech that up was the direction everything was going.
Still wishing Marybe's family love and comfort and Barbara as well.

Feeling subdued, with thoughts of Marybe and her friends and family.
Took a nap yesterday afternoon, ( I'm an early to bed person) so I would be awake for the First Lady's speech- and even if I was sleepy, could've stayed awake, hard to cry with joy & sleep at the same time. I'm so grateful for all she does, for her VALUES, and can't not mention it, FABULOUS sense of STYLE! She takes such JOY in what she does and how she looks, and I love, love, love the young American designers she has "brought to the table." Strong body, strong woman, smart woman, loving woman - wow. She's always had my vote, but I'm ready to vote twice!( early & often ;-))) )
Didn't see our gov or next senator - but heard both were on fire too.
-
It was a GREAT night. Powerful speeches all around, but my hat is OFF to Michelle Obama. What a fabulous speaker and what a fantastic lady she is. I couldn't have been more proud to be an American and a Democrat last night.
All of the speeches I heard were powerful. They put together an excellent team. (The polls are looking rather good, as well

-
I also thought last night's speeches were awesome. Smiling between Marybe tears!
-
I thought last night's speeches were amazing as well!
Remember how I was wishing for a year with no unpleasant surprises? Went to school this morning, and the resource room that I work in has been moved from a full classroom to basically what is a large storage room for the rest of the school.
There's no room for my desk-the teacher, of course, gets a desk since she's in there all day, but I got nuthin...I had a small, teary meltdown. All in front of my brand new work partner. Nice-how professional. I promised her I wouldn't cry anymore. I'm surprised she wasn't crying. She had our classroom all set up in what she thought was going to be her room, and just found out yesterday afternoon that we were going to have to move into the storage room. Mary

I watched a lot of the convention last night. Every speech was great, Michelle best of all. However, Is aw the pre-prime time speeches. Lilly Ledbetter was fantastic, loved the accent. Also, the mother whose daughter needed heart surgery. Tear jerker.
Mary, these type of work things are so upsetting. It shows a lack of regard and respect for what you contribute. I know you'll carry on with courage, but what a start to the year.

Last night was a slam dunk for Dems!
Mary, it seems like special ed is always given the shaft in terms of space and resources. Can't remember how many times I've been shoved into a closet, or worse, where I was expected to test kids, keep confidential files and do my paperwork and reports.
-
Mary...I am so sorry for the lousy welcome back to work gift.
As for my return to work, no one wants to hear the drama. Suffice it to say, there were some tears on my part today, too. I managed to hold them in until I got home, though...sigh.
Oh well. Tomorrow's another day.
-
@Mary and CLC, you all make me glad I retired from education. I always got moved around at the last minute, too, being a reading teacher in the middle school meant small class sizes so if they needed my room I was always shafted .... After doing bulletin boards and classroom set up. Just hope you like the teacher you will be working with in such confined quarters. Bummer!! Hang in there, friends, sounds like it can't get much worse!!
-
Mary and CLC, sorry your first day back was marred with drama. Hoping for smoother sailing going forward. Shall I pour you a drink?
-
Kudos to you ladies for going back at all!! Mary, that really sucks to not even have a desk!!!
I've been pouting about work every day, it seems like, to my husband lately, but I have both desk and window - on a clear day (like we've been having lately) I even have a view of the mountain
. Still all in all, work sucks and I want to retire. But, as you say, CLC, tomorrow is another day - tonight, though, I'm going to watch the convention and quietly cheer.
Maybe I'll have a margarita while cheering.... -
Cheryll...sure...mix me up something that reminds me of summer vacation...I know, I will have a Cape Cod...:)
