AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 8

I'm a little bothered by this story! Upon further googling, I see that this is a technique that has been used for several seasons and not just this year!
I've always wondered how "valid" the votes are, and why people aren't limited to vote only once. We can't vote for a president thousands of times over, can we?!
harumpfh!
-
It certainly throws the validity of the outcome into question......and takes away from the excitement of the program.
-
To make it really fair, they probably should only let a person vote once, just like we do for the president (and that comes from someone who votes multiple times for the same person!!!! Even though I love Kris, I voted for Adam numerous times this season). The bottom line is that they will both have recording contracts, both got new cars, both get to go on all the talk shows (saw them on the Today show yesterday--both of them said there was no "voting conspiracy" and to move on; both will have tremendous exposure from all this--maybe they should call it a tie! I can't get to the tour show this year, will be away.

Problem is "Textgate" is an issue that will not go away even though AT+T has promised so in future Idol seasons........
---------------
"AT&T, which sponsors the talent competition and provides the text and phone system for voting, said it was taking measures to avoid such an embarrassment next season on "American Idol."
"Going forward, we will make sure our employees understand our sponsorship celebrates the competition, not individual contestants," the company said." "That said, it's quite a leap to suggest that a few individuals could have impacted the final results."__________________________________________
As long as there is texting this will be an issue and as long as AT+t is the sponsor it will be encouraged. Power texting was a big issue during the Clay Aikens/ Ruben Studdard season and considering that there were less than a million votes separating David Archuleta and David Cook last season I can't help but think it had to come into play there too (and I am a David Cook fan) Plus, it is suspected it was responsible for the early departure of Chris Daughtry......I've read that At+t representatives did the same thing for Elliot Yamin and Taylor Hicks in season 5 so, it is nothing new.
And this season although the idol finale only garnered 28.8 million viewers, just shy of 100 million votes came in.
Personally I'd like to see the voting like Dancing With The Stars with a limit of 5 votes per phone or computer. That way we get to keep contestants like Allison and Danny in and watch them grow over the season and isn't that what Idol is all about?
I think they are all deserved of great careers and I congratulate them on a truly memorable and fun season .....looking forward to seeing them in the future------Just don't know if I'd hang on the phone for hours to get my puny votes in.........
PS. I hope we get to see Danny Gokey on Dancing with The Stars.
He wants to do it and I think it would be a hoot if he were invited!

I wish it would change to one vote per phone, and vote for the person you want OFF!
In my opinion, AT&T needs to be dropped as a sponsor immediately. They have lost their credibility. I told you guys that I tried to call in for an hour and a half and could not get through. I've since talked to a couple other friends who also couldn't. Were the calls from Comcast blocked? That one Kris fan pledged to vote 7000 times!
