Last year just before Easter I lost my Persian, Tacey, to kidney disease. She was 16 and was a sweet companion. Two years ago I rescued my vampire cat, Merlin, and he has been a great help.

When Tacey died I was pretty distraught. I cried for months. I had her cremated so I could always have her with me. When I finally got to the point where I could, I sent her ashes in to have a memorial piece made. It takes about 2 months to get them back usually but the artist wasn’t on vacation so it took a bit longer. I was diagnosed with cancer and had my BMX and the DAY I got home from surgery there was this box in the mail. My memorial came home for me when I needed her most.

I can’t begin to tell you what that meant to me. Timing was amazing on that. I couldn’t lift it at the time, it’s too heavy, but I could hold it. It was like Tacey knew and waited to come home when I needed her most. So now I have her ashes in her carved wooden box, and a beautiful memorial piece that I can now hold to remember her.

This is my Tree of Life Glass memorial. The white at the base is the tree are the ashes they used to blow into the glass.

Wren, the timing of the arrival of that piece could not have been more perfect. I needed her right then, and there she was.

I posted my foster kitty for adoption yesterday. He was originally hospice but looks like he could live another 3-4 years now. He'll need a special adopter, but he's a total lap cat and that will help. He would probably like it if we put him in a baby front carrier and hauled him around all day.

What lovely cats you all have! I have a female mostly Maine Coon that we think is somewhere between 15-18 years old. She's the best cat we ever had and we are so glad she picked us at the shelter 11 years ago! She's not a lap cat at all, but last year when I had my surgery, a friend made me a comfort quilt and if that's on my lap, she becomes a lap cat. She never left my side after my surgery and seemed to sense where not to put her paws. Cats are amazing!!

There's a video on all the news stations in the US of a cat on the roof of a suv going 60mph on the freeway. A woman driving by saw it and got the driver's attention, who then started pulling over. The funny thing is that the cat is hanging on to the door/roof on the passenger side, hair flying in the wind and clearly asking the driver of the other car for help. I could almost hear it going HELP ME!!!

Oh, I had forgotten about that one! Thank goodness the cat didn't seem as panicked that time. Probably had lots of material to sink it's claws into!

We picked up foster cat, Colby, from his vacation coverage on Wed. Since then he's only eaten about 1 can of Fancy Feast, which comes in really tiny cans. So I took him into the shelter vet, who offered him 3 different kinds of Fancy Feast and he ate them all! Double crosser. Or maybe it's like when you make a doctor appt and your symptoms are totally gone by the time you get there. If you cancel the appt, they come back, of course. He had lost about a pound (from 14 to 13), so they did blood work to check his thyroid. He's not blocked up; his not pooping is due to not eating, which is good news. We couldn't decide what was going on with him. He's 16.5 yo and we wondered if he was just shutting down in preparation for the end. Luckily the vet gave us a bunch of cans of the junk food he ate there, so perhaps he'll keep eating.

Is it possible poor Colby was just stressed by the unavoidable changes of environment? (or did the holiday cover have some extra delicious cat food that he was on strike for)

My kiddoes split a can of that Fancy Feast a day, and I swear it's like crack to them. They have a good free-range bowl of dry food, but they live for the treat every day!

We tried a couple of cans at home, but he didn't eat - until at the vet's. He's eating pretty well today. DH says perhaps he knows he'll go to the vet if he isn't eating. They also gave him an appetite stimulant yesterday and I have another dose left from earlier with permission to use it. I agree that Fancy Feast is like crack for cats. We keep it at the shelter for cats who won't eat.

Trader Joe's Tuna for Cats seems to have a lot of smell. I mix it in other food rather than use it straight.

Had to look up Fancy Feast.

It seems to be the same asa our cat food called "Gourmet". (always wonder why the same brands have different names in different places).

My cats love Gourmet and Sheba. Do you have Sheba?It's another posh brand.

Main thing is they have to have variety, you cannot feed them the same thing too many times in a row, if I have had only Gourmet in the cupboard all week they will absolutely fall on a pack of Sheba or vice versa.

The kitty crack here is Whiskas Temptations. I actually stopped buying them because I was seriously questioning how addictive they were. Managed to find a posher treat in the pet shop that seemed to have a better ingredients list, but cant say it calls Arthur in from 4 fields away the way the rattle of a tub of Temptations did.

Merlin LOVES Sheba. It is also the perfect size for him. Not too little, just enough to keep him happy. And the Whiskas Temptations are his favorite as well. Yes, crack for cats. I have found a few other treats that bring him running, but that’s his favorite.

There is a site for dog food called Dog Food advisor. Tells you if it’s a good food, what’s in it, etc. I’m wondering if there is something similar for cat food. I only have grandkittys.

And don’t know about kitty crack😂😂.
