Oh my goodness.....snow, already!, :(. Winter is coming! Wish I could link to YouTube......there is a hilarious video compilation (about 20 minutes) entitled "Winter is coming!"....... Shows every nightmare I worry about over winter......Morwenna, I hope you enjoy your singing holiday in Hawaii......I would like to stow away in your luggage! :)

Edi.......I "heart" your GD's note......I think I have at least one note like that from each of my four DDs......brings back memories......sometimes they can be such sweet little turds!!!!!! Loved your pics, too! Isn't the Royal family of William and Kate (and Baby George) just beautiful???? I smile every time I see one. They look like they will be very hands-on....just like Princess Di......with Royals like them, the Monarchy will continue to be very relevant, not just to Britain, and the Commonwealth, but here in the States, as well.....(because, face it, we Yanks may have won the war for Independence.....but we've NEVER given up our obsession with the British royal family!). :)

Mom of two? How are you feeling? The Oregon coast is currently cold, windy, and WET.....you are not missing much over here........I think the last of the pleasant fall weather is going, going, gone........

I have had a GREAT weekend......my two favorite college football teams won, and my MLS (soccer) team, the Portland Timbers just won the western division.....yay! I am really pathetic, I know, but I have always had girls involved in sports....and I can't break the addiction.....!!!!! :/

Nihahi, hope you have had a WONDERFUL weekend in Fernie.......and did many kilometers hiking......missing your presence here,

Liefie, hope your weekend was lovely in Vancouver.......travel safe!

    Benny.....what about the mechanic??????? ;)

    Love to all!

Adagio, thanks for the kind words. It was such a great pleasure meeting you too! Was just special to meet so many people from these threads. I'm jealous of your pretty soft snow white hair - too adorable for words! I have the skunk look going on in the back, but hey, it's hair! Thanks for the ride too. Coming into town we went straight to a dinner at friends' house. Was really grateful to be home at eleven, Tired, but content.

Sbel, you can send me that cookie recipe anytime if you want to. Only saw your post last night when I got home. I ended up making blueberry-cheesecake-almond squares that I found in a Bakefest pamphlet that landed in my mailbox last week.

Movie, glad your teams did so well. You hang in there with the winter weather, and you too, Morwenna!

Edi, that baby is beautiful, and he does remind me of William when he was a baby.

Had quite a stressful morning in church playing unfamiliar music. Employed my yoga breathing/relaxation techniques, and survived by hook or by crook without making a fool of myself - phew! Now I am going to relax, eat leftover food from last week, and go for a long walk. It is a beautiful, sunny day with blue skies, and we have to make hay while it lasts!

Here's my "tree pose" photo. I realize its not a great tree, but in my defence, a) I don't do yoga, b) I was trying not to fall off my rock, and c) I was giggling too much to hold my balance for more than an instant!

    Hi All X
Just started a tension headache !! Came onto back computer to sort out internet provider query and other bits and bobs. After ten minuted peace DH comes out to kitchen ( next room, through open archway ) and starts crashing through the freakin dishes ! I am answering queries for him on the phone and he is doing sign language ( very badly ) for things he thinks I should be asking BEAM ME UP SCOTTIE  :-(He comes to stand next to me with paper recycling bin on way to garden leans over and empties top layer onto Edi, I want my Mum !
Thank goodness he is now watching movie on catch up TV.
Weather here yuk, 99 mph winds in south of England 1,800 homes with no power. 14 year old missing after swimming in the sea. WHY didn't his family stop him as this has all been forecast for days.?
Not so bad here, sun shining bit of rain and tress waving a bit, at least they are still in the ground. In London large tree uprooted and landed on a double decker bus !!

Morwenna, your poem was so good and glad they will be using it. Hope snow not too heavy where you are. You must be looking forward to singing in the sun.

Websister, bet you can't wait for deport day. Didn't have one but my cousin did and she said it was a bit of a nuisance.

    Dakota, CHEMO why ??

Jo, lovely no chemo :-) I too wish I had been a mechanic. I was a car sales manager in the 80's and men seemed to find it fascinating when I could quote facts about engines etc. Think I know as much as DH anyway but still leave him to get messy lol.

Liefie, poor you with the car, you must have been exhausted, those places are boring. I know beacause I spent 5 days a week in one for years.Hope new songs went well.Meeting with Adagio sounds super, ( jealous.com )

Nihahi, hope your break away was lovely ? Capt Philips not as good as hype, wait for DVD ha ha. Ended up with DH having a gob on because when he asked what I thought I told him ! Great story, Tom Hanks superb but found the way the camera bobbed up and down all the time gave me a headache. OK I know it was filmed at sea but so were a lot of Movies.

Right must get off before crashing starts again and take a painkiller. Never do that but now almost every day. Try not to let him get to me but sooooo hard.

Love to ALL not mentioned X

You girls, Dakota had chemo in 2012 . . . but don't worry, you're not the only ones with chemo brain. I posted here again later yesterday, but must have forgotten to hit the submit button, because that post is just not here. I commented about one of the women that I met on Saturday who has a 3D nipple tattoo. My mouth fell open, and I simply had to touch it - it honestly looks like the real McCoy, and she had it done in Vancouver, so within reach for me. Amazing what can be done for us nipple-less population, and I will look into that. Another one showed us her flower tattoos she had done on her foobs, and kept complaining about the hardness of the implants - what we have to go through with this!

Morwenna, you certainly are a fun-loving person - good for you! Laughter is the best medicine, always will be.

Edi, so sad about that kid who probably drowned - where were the parents? Mine would not even have been allowed outside in such weather conditions?! But whatever the circumstances, it is so heartbreaking. Seems you and DH are having fun, eh? Did you make him sweep up the paper? Lol! One of my pet peeves is when DH talks to me when I'm on the phone, and tries to tell me what to ask or to say to the other person, mostly if it is one of the kids. I can't listen to two people at once, so sometimes I just hand him the phone, and walk out . . . but I don't like it at all.

Off to yogalates class, then a strength training session immediately afterwards. The trainer is going to Vegas for the rest of the week, so will have peace till next week - yay!

    I'm baaaaaaackkk!!!!

Hi there ladies, missed you all, but it was a wonderful "getaway".....so much so that hubby's first words when we got home were "so.....where to next time!" I have read through all the posts I missed....but then seemed to have promptly forgotten the details of everyone's past few days....so will just "move on from here".

We had an easy, sunny, warm drive down, foggy mornings that cleared to brilliant sunshine in the late morning and the drive from h.e.l.l. coming home, due to the first storm of winter. Good thing I had my snow tires put on before we left, as I only found myself on the wrong side of the road once...!!!!!! Anyhoo....we drove past Frank Slide, which is where a mountain came down in the early 1900's completely burying a town, and both sides of the valley. Lots of beautiful golden larch trees, some lovely (short, because hubby was with me, so only 7 and 8km) hikes, lots of hot tub time and general R & R. Thought I'd throw in a couple photos of looking out my windows this morning, just for fun. However.....skiing starts soon.....whooohoooo!

edited to add....crap....photos didn't copy from another post...I'll add a few.

chemo brain with knobs on !! thought poor Dakota off again. silly me.

Morwenna, sorry meant to say LOVE your tree pic, you look totally professional honest.

Liefie,Agree with you re the boy, mine are grown up and I have still nagged them not to go out today unless they really have to.Swimming in stormy sea for heavens sake WHY ?
DH even drove GD potty today, we called in with some milk ED needed, she was stuck in the house as new gas boiler being fitted today. She has had no heating or hot water for a week !!
Being British workmen they work better on gallons of tea and biscuits. GD did a jigsaw with DH and of course there was one piece missing !! They searched through all her other ones and it was there in the wrong box thank goodness.
So glad my DH isn't the only one who interrupts whilst you are on the phone, I handed him the phone once while I was arguing with a gas engineer, he kept chiming in so Edi just gives handset to him, WOW he almost passed out then is all Mr Nice Guy to the nut on the other end of the phone. I couldn't believe it.
Did yogalates go well ?Hope you are doing lots of strenuous things next week while trainer in Vegas ( not ) don't hurt anything lifting that coffee cup ha ha.

Dakota, you brave thing having tats done lovely that they are good. must google about them as I am so nosey.

Large pan of lentil and ham shank soup bubbling away on the stove, I love autumn winter if only for the food. All quiet on the western front but feel for the poor southerners tonight.

nihahi, glad you back safe, gorgeous pics.

    Laters gorgeous ones X

Nihahi, welcome back! We missed you! Sounds like the getaway was lovely - take DH up on the offer of a next time soon, okay? Point him in the direction of BC! Pictures beautiful too. Spoke to DS in Calgary last night, and he showed us the snow on skype. He is so bored and miserable over weekends now that his fiancee is in S.A., so we've been talking to him lots lately. Told him to get a hobby, or go do activities with friends. You just cannot hang your whole life on one person, and you defo need a life of your own too. Hope the lesson goes in.

Edi, yogalates went okay, but the heat sometimes gets too much for me. Then I just lie on my mat, pant, and drink some water before I can go on. You sweat buckets in there. Trainer is leaving her DH behind, and she and a friend will be celebrating Halloween in Vegas the rest of this week. Told her to be good - she is a 6 ft tall, slim, beautiful blonde Amazon who makes heads turn, but she's a good girl.

Absolutely beautiful sunny weather here since yesterday after 8 straight days of thick west coast fog. Outside is calling, and the dog needs a walk. Talk again later.

Hey everyone -- pictures are lovely -- Morwenna -- that looks like a fabulous tree pose to me.  I started a yoga class a few weeks ago  and most of us are beginners.  We don't stand on one foot at all yet (I think the instructor is worried that we all might topple over).

Nihahi -- OMG -- I can't believe the snow you have.  I have to admit that I had to google map where Okotoks was -- when I saw that it was south of Calgary, I was more shocked.  I know you guys get some crazy weather out there, but snow before Halloween?  The pictures of your hiking treks look awesome and you and your hubby look very happy.

Liefie -- I'll going to keep tuned to see if you end up going to the tatoo artist in Vancouver. If there is someone great in Vancouver when the time comes, maybe I'll head there for a tatoo-cation.

Momof2 -- how are you doing?

Thinking of you all as I read the posts.

I'm off for a CT scan on Thursday to check for abdominal veins/arteries.  I've never had one before.   My only prep is not to drink or eat for 4 hours before the scan, and then I know I have to drink something (barium?)   Any tips?

    Take care all,

    Ridley

Ridley....lol....we've had Halloweens that have been in the mid-teens, and other times it's been -20 and whiteout conditions....It's the lovely mountains that dictate our weather here....can't change it, might as well go along for the ride!

I never had to had the scan for vessels pre-flap recon....not every surgeon does it. Mine prefers to make his decision based on what he finds during surgery...doesn't think scans give "enough feedback".

Benny....just want to say I'm sending you strength and positive vibes for tomorrow. So glad Morwenna was able to step up and be with you.

Thanks Nihahi. I am scared shitless (can I say that on here?) And I am angry. All this pink crap everywhere and billions of dollars going somewhere so that lots of people have jobs and workshops, and the pharmaceutical industries are sitting pretty, etc. But here I am, again, having to go for an invasive test because our diagnostic tools are not advanced enough to know if something is cancer or not. If it is, it will be back to square one for me, I will lose my hair again (the whole 3.5 inches I had), another wire inserted in my breast with no anaesthetic, surgery, narcotics, sleeping in a bloody hospital, sick, drains, removal of drain, more appointments with people I never wanted to see again, fatigue, physio exercises, no riding, radiation appointments every bloody morning, and basically no quality of life for the second year in a row. I have been crying all day and now have a headache to end all

    Hi all,

I am at hope hanging out in my recliner/bed. I do not think I have ever been under so many drugs at one time.

Benny, your post caused me to respond. You have been through H____! I hear your plea. I somehow allowed my mind to just say good bye to the part of my body that has betrayed me twice. I hope you can find support as you face this next journey...it sucks!! No it is not fair!! But the one thing that is different is that this is a different cancer. Therefore, the treatment will be different. Hopefully, not all the horrible treatments that you endured last year.

Finally, today all my body systems came back online. The drains are annoying to have hanging, but not painful. I plan to start my phone calls tomorrow in an attempt to get my path report. The PS thinks just because nodes were clear, there will be no chemo....guess I will have to give him a lesson in Stage 1 breast cancer.

Wish I could wash this hair. I tried the no rinse shampoo cap....do not waste your time or money with that...hair still nasty looking.

I am off all the pain meds..only taking the antibiotic and the other stuff before surgery. You know, like Arimidex that was suppose keep this from happening!

So just waiting for the next appointment :)

quick post - have read through, Canmore weekend was great, same types of roads as Nihahi on way home

Benny - in your pockets tomorrow. Let me know when the results appointment is booked for and I will arrange to go with you.

Edi - stay safe, weather there not sounding good

Nihahi - great pictures, glad you had such a nice time, I am always in awe as we drive through Frank slide area, all that rock, hard to fathom a whole town buried under it

Momof2 - so good to hear from you

Ridley - CT - had diagnostic one prior to my surgery - advice - plug your nose to drink the solution they give you, tastes faintly of iodine, plugging the nose works as smell impacts taste.

Have to be up tomorrow a.m. at 0430 so I can support an implementation we are doing at the hospital sites here, I have been assigned to be at our new south hospital at 0600

    Take care all

Benny......make room in your pocket for me, as well........I am keeping positive thoughts for you!! Glad Morwenna can go with you......

Edi.....stay safe over there! You are making me nervous........I really really hate crazy weather.....makes me realize how powerless against nature Man (Woman)really is...... :\. Just in case, have your raft at the ready......you (and DH) can float over here......we live about 80 miles from the coast......

Mom.....good to hear from you......listen to Nihahi......and take care!

Ridley......I had the same experience as Nihahi....PS didn't do anything except an abdominal Doppler(?) or Sonar(?) to locate blood vessels.....and he said it was just to give him an idea of where to focus....he would have to open me up and make the final decision once in there......good luck!

Love to all, including those I haven't mentioned......XO

Benny, may everything go well tomorrow, and so happy Morwenna is going with you. Wishing you the very best outcome!

Jenifer, it seems as if you are recovering well. Drains are a pain, but soon they will be history too.

Ridley, on the morning of my surgery the PS used a Doppler to locate the blood vessels before I went into the OR.

Going to bed now. Good night everybody!

    Hi X

    Gosh you all so busy.

Benny, please don't gallop ahead leave that to Diamond, understand your dread but hopefully NOTHING like last time.In those pockets too X

Morwenna, give our Benny huge hug from us all please, lovely that she has you with her.

Nihahi, story about town being buried sent chills.Scared Defo take DH up on next getaway, he looks so happy as do you too Winking

    Bevlee, XXXX Happy

Mom, Thinking of you, hope all discomfort over soon.

Movie, glorious day here today, damage not as bad as forecast thank goodness. DH off with shedman for ball bashing ( golf ) I have a cake to bake ( cremate ) Promise of new oven went out the window Sad

So mad today !! After we saw ED yesterday I txt her to see if new boiler all in and working. She was in bits, seems the fxxxxxg builders who did her remo had a halfwit plumber , as new boiler wouldnt work her new plumbers traced back to a leak in a wall of the downstairs shower room. Seems it has been leaking into the insulation for a few months and as this wall backs onto her new kitchen with all the new units everything might have to be ripped out and knocked down !!
Then to add insult to injury this is probably why old boiler was playing up and they have probably wasted about £ 2,000.00 on a new one.
What happened to proper time served tradesmen

Well girls love to ALL, going to pray over my oven thermostat. Laters.

Oooooh, a bit zoned out on Ativan but can still type. Morwenna and I just got back (we went for a Timmies after, me with a hunk of ice sticking out of my bra!) The Radiation doctor was a horse person. She has a quarter horse so we talked about that (and Diamond and her issues) while I was on the table and it helped. The needles hurt but it was over quickly. She kept reminding me that it could be nothing. They scheduled a 6 month follow-up mammo but if it IS something, that test will get cancelled. I'm a bit spaced out here so hope this makes sense. I have to ice the area on/off, in 20 minute intervals. No riding for a week. Uh huh. Yeah, we'll see about that! Morwenna gave me a little blue stone to keep in my pocket while I was there. It is pretty blue, says "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself - FDR" on it. Morwenna, I forgot to return it. Will do so when I see you next time, all tanned from the Hawaiian sun. Thank you again for helping me <3 I'm not supposed to nap during the day on this ICANSLEEP program but I might have to lie down a bit this afternoon. Gotta get some rest because tomorrow........ out to the farm! Happy

Thank you all for the love and support. I knew you were there with me. And now I wait. Thank you websister for the offer of coming to the result appointment. It should be in a week. Are you still getting deported on Nov 8?

Movie, I need to call the mechanic. I don't know what's stopping me. I will probably do it this week, after I buy a new tube of mascara cuz mine has dried up.

Dakota, I went for my annual mammogram and it came back 'suspicious calcifications' in the unaffected breast. Sad

Okay, must lie down, quite spacey and tired........

Benny, may those calcifications turn out to be nothing serious - it is quite possible, you know? You are surprisingly lucid for someone on Ativan, and there's nothing wrong with your post. Thanks for letting us know how it went. So glad Websister will be accompanying you to the next appointment. Do call the mechanic, okay? Put a drop or two olive oil into that dried-up mascara - you may get a little more use out of it - lol! Best wishes to you!

Edi, what a bummer for your daughter - wow! Hope they can fix that soon. And I'm sure the guilty party is long gone. So frustrating that this had to happen just when she thought everything was finished and done - not nice.

Benny, Glad to hear that things were bearable for you. I also took 2 Ativan before my biopsy and I was much more relaxed. There is something to be said for knowing what to expect. As we went through all of this the first time, last year, all those scans and needles were coming at us and no one gave us anything to help take the edge off. I am crossing my fingers that these are calcifications and nothing that requires surgery.

Do I need to send you a dead car battery?...so you will call your mechanic? Go buy a pie and ask him over for dessert and coffee :)

bevlee....great to hear from you...hope all things are well.

Edi....well that is crappy for your daughter...any chance she can be compensated due to the faulty work?????

liefie....trip is getting closer!!! Bet you are so excited...in YOUR pockets for your mammo!!
