    Jazzy, perfect colors!

My favorite hand-me-down magazine from niece.

Mags, I watch TV in the livingroom and husband watches TV in the bedroom!

Teka- house beautiful. Going to find that at my local book/movie rental/music store!

I am glad you think the colors look good. It is amazing what a fresh coat of paint or color can do to liven up a place!

Oh Jazzy, that rant before was intended to say, I love your colors.

In 2007-08, at our last house, the last time I actually was able to, we remodeled a half-bath and redecorated our foyer. I'll see if I have pics.

Mags there are hardly any couple I know that watch the same TV at night unless they decided to rent a movie they both like--Now personally Sharknado 1 and 2 were fun for me to wtch--I watch SyFy ad Chiller and a lot of gore movies but I like them--Superntural is great to me, but again that's me--I think what u'r doing is good for you. U'r cousin means well that's for sure, we all know how much she cares about the both of u, but sometimes going thru so much u just need u'r own area to go thru this.

Jazy I love those colors, gold/yellow is a very hard color to do---and the kitchen is so bright and nice. My mom did accent walls even when I was a kid everyone thought she was a little off, but she always wanted pizzazz in her rooms so I grew up with them and always had my own too. Now my DD does it all the time. Good job.

This is what the foyer looked like:

    I textured the walls myself.

Mags- pretty foyer. Love the colors and you are talented to do the texturing.

Cami- I like a good scary film too from time to time. Do you have HBO? Sometimes late at night, they have some super creepy/scary movies going on their channels.

How cool your mother did accent walls. My mom did strictly solid color rooms, so when ever I lived in places before (rentals) and did my own painting, I always did solid color. Your mom was ahead of her time.

Did you recover from your party, party girl?

My horoscope said I need to go to bed early tonight so I am going to. Cami and Blondie will be glad to hear that (they remind Jazzy to slow down....)

Cami- I was up for awhile middle of the night too, but did not come on to the thread. I slept in until after 7 a.m. And sometimes I will do that too, take a shower to relax and go back to sleep.

Ha, I try to listen to you gals. I had the big push to get the house ready for the painters but have been taking things easier this week as it wore me out. Lots of moving of stuff around. Much of it may stay parked for a bit too until I get the floors done. I need to get some exercise today and going to the gym this morning for a swim!

The hard wood installer is coming this afternoon to measure today and going to pick out my final wood today too. Hope to finalize some things by early next week and this may all be finished by the end of August. Except for the getting rid of stuff, but going continue to work on that thru time (donating, consignment, giving things to friends, dumpster!)

What is really fun about all this is now doing some things I have been thinking about since I originally built this place in 2003-2004. I started out with some basic things and of course, added some things with time, but I have been thinking for a long time about some of these other things like having certain areas repainted with color, getting the carpeting out and putting in wood floors, etc. When the house was initially built, it was considered semi-custom so not everything available like hard wood flooring, granite counter tops (coming in the future), custom paint job, etc. Now that some things just need replacing due to wear and tear, I am putting in more of what I REALLY want. My home is my sacred space, my sanctuary, as it is for most of us here. I am just making it a lot nicer and hopefully a lot less cluttered in the process.

Got some things to do, places to go, people to see. I will post a photo later today of the bedroom once I have a few more things put together so you can see how that is looking. I loved waking up to a warm yellow gold in the bedroom today and like it. I feel like my bedroom is all sunshiny!

When DH & I met, I was living in a shotgun duplex – if you've never heard the term, it's a duplex where each side is long and narrow with the back door at the very end. Just one bedroom, and a galley kitchen. But it was mine, and I painted the living room a pale butter yellow. I know what you're talking about, about sanctuary, and I don't have that now. Makes this chit a lot harder.

Y'all will be pleased to know that all is well between DH & me. When I went to bed, he was still awake, and we talked, and cried, and snuggled. I'm not accustomed to my big strong man weeping like a baby, and it's very disconcerting. It makes me remember how he wept when his mom died – of throat cancer – and I know that is very much on his mind. He's afraid of losing me. And honestly, I don't know what he would do if that happened. But that's why I'm going through the tx, to give me the best odds of making it and having more time together. He's 9 years younger than I, so we always knew there was a chance I'd go first, but honestly cancer was not on our radar.

I could have sworn I had a picture of the bathroom after we remodeled it but I've been through all my pics and can't find it. I loved the way it turned out. DH did all the electric and plumbing except for the final plumbing hookups and toilet which our plumber did. And he installed the match board wainscot which was white, and I did the painting and texturing and removed the popcorn ceiling. (Before I knew there was a tool for that – what a mess!) The walls were pale green, so peaceful. And I had a watercolor I picked up on my visit to Scotland. And a painted tile from New Orleans which I have no idea where it is now. Since we've never completely unpacked in this house. There's just no room to.

Sally, you are right about Jazzy. I don't think she's a REAL hermit. Hmmm.

That's ok, Jazzy, you can stay anyway. Just saying, hermits don't do stuff. At least they don't do interesting stuff. Well sometimes maybe but not all the time. You do interesting stuff ALL THE TIME!

The most interesting thing I've had happen in recent memory was a skunk. That's kinda my life in a nutshell.

Good morning hermits- you ladies crack me up!

So yes, I am an adventurer at heart, but I do spend a lot of time alone. I live alone, so if I want social connection and any sort of entertainment, I have to go out for it. I am great music lover. I listen to it, play it, and it is always everywhere in my life. I am having a great summer of music too, starting with the music festival in Aspen to now and more to come in the month of August. I am out at some sort of music event here just about every week in the summer.

Next week I am going with a friend to see the 70's group, YES. Any of you children of the 70s remember them? They were one of my fav groups in my teens, and saw them last in 1976.

It amazes me that some of these musicians of the 60s and 70s continue to perform. I was googling up Smokey this morning and he is 74. Proving to us all that age is just a number.

Teka- no worries on the skydiving front. I have some issues with heights so that NEVER has appealed to me. I have given up a lot of the riskier things I do like downhill skiing, mountain biking, etc. I still bike, but on paved bike trails. I replaced downhill skiing with snow shoeing, but have not been in the past few years due to health issues and also little snow here.

And during the winter months, I am most hermitty of all. I have always been someone who likes to hibernate like the bears. I am very content in the colder months to stay indoors, cook and eat soups, watch rented movies.

BC has really made me want to live my life even fuller than I ever did before. And in the end, girls just wanna have fun......

Thanks for letting me stay here!

Jazzy, I am glad you want to be here because you inspire me to reach out ... so far the reaching out hasn't gone far but I am planning and dreaming again.

Sally- it takes time, years actually. I am being far more social this summer than I have been in many years actually. After my mother died in 2012, and all the rest that followed, I just really kept to myself to get through what I had to. My grief, my health issues, etc. Many people who had come to know me saw me slip off the radar. My closest friends knew what was going on, I just told others I was busy.

For a long time, I wondered if I would ever want to do the things I used to? But time and some good friends who helped me to get out made a difference. I have one good friend who supported me through my treatment and afterwards, she would invite me to things she though might help me shift gears. Sometimes having others inviting you out really helps, so if you get invites, I say go to the ones you can and that feel right. Those people are your social angels.

Everything I have also been through has taught me where to not spend my time too. With people who don't care, or suck my energy, or just want from me in unhealthy ways.

I move towards my bliss now.

I am not going anywhere, I promise!

Overcast and rainy day here. Being lazy. Feels good!
