dwill,
Dentist is a keeper!
Receptionist probably hasn't been around that many cancer patients and tripped over her tongue.

Thanks Cami. I am getting my first cup of joe going here and watching the movie, The Wiz, on HBO this morning as I get my day going.
Remember that movie? Made in the late 70s with Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Lena Horne, and so many more. Maybe one of the first musicals made into a movie?

I hear it has been snowing back east again. I just had to share this with my winter weary friends.

This is for anyone who knows Grayson's story.....my grandaughter found this, and my son and I are buying it for Grayson....we can order it on April 7th from a company in Ireland where a woman invented this for her wheelchair bound son so he could stand upright......my Grayson will finally be able to see the world "standing".......God Bless that woman.

Dwill-hugs
I hope all turns out well. I remember going into the dentist after my DX and didn't know how or if I should say anything about my new health issue. Of course I was all kinds of confused in my head anyhow and I knew I did have to say something. My dentist and the hygienist could not have been nicer and compassionate. Everyone has a story about someone they know who had cancer or BC. I found many walking on eggshells around me for a while too-not wanting to be negative or disclose certain things about others. Even I sometimes don't even know what to say or how to act. But, we learn and try to show whatever kindness we can. Some are smoother than others.
Yes, crappy white stuff on the ground this am, however, warmer temps are coming or so they say. I want warmth on my days off from work.
Wishing you a very happy day tomorrow Jazzy and a special shout out for Grayson........soon baby girl will be standing proud!

Happy Birthday Jazzy
Cami, the cat with the cupcake is darling ... brought a smile to my face.
Ducky, wonderful that your granddaughter found the Irish device. Is it a new invention?
Dwill and Sand, I had been wondering how much to say at my dentist appointment in a few weeks. Your comments have been helpful plus I don't feel so alone about wondering. I had a small growth removed from my mouth two years ago and a dark spot three years ago. Neither were cancer. I now have dark spots at the corners of my bottom lip which I hope will be nothing too.
I bought some pansy bedding plants yesterday. Working in my planting barrels is an anxiety relief. I have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow. She wanted to see me after radiation treatments ended, but I never asked why (and I usually ask a ton of questions). I don't think I should be anxious, but I am. At least I can get her opinion on lifting light weights again.

You know Sally, I think many believe our dentist are totally focused on just our mouths, when in fact, they are physicians concerned with our total health. I just needed a gentle reminder of that. And My dentist said if I needed any rads close to the head and neck area they would be able to assist in devising protective "gear" for that region or if I needed Chemo they would assist with any SEs. Thankfully, my dx remained stage 0, however, it was good to hear and know they were ready to be part of my team! I am fortunate that even my Hygienist is also so totally focused on the whole person. Together they are quite supportive.. Even if I see another dentist in the practice or take my son for a visit...the one dentist who held my hand through the initial phase of my BC dx always stops and gives me a smile and asks how I am doing.
Honestly, I am fortunate to have it reinforced that I have picked some of the very best health care providers for myself and my son.
That said, I think I am going to dump my Gyne Doc. I know she cares about me (I have known her for too many years to mention) but the last couple of visits have been way too rushed and I felt like she was a bit too 'rough' and brief when doing my breast and vaginal exams.
Live and learn.....Although I am kinda tired of the continual learning process.

Sally........it is called an Upsee........and developed by a woman in Northern Ireland for her son......the story is heartwarming......this is a picture of it off the child......it is attached to the adult, and then to the child.......amazing.

Thanks to the ladies who have wished GRayson well on the different threads on this website.....my grandaughter sends her love to all of you for your thoughts and prayers......I let her see all the nice things you all say........there are other threads who know about Grayson too....they have followed her for 3 years......her age, and my dx date.......they were born March 3rd, and had surgery March 15th 2011, in the same hospital.........we did not find out immediately she had a disability, but once I did and shared it most of you have showed a love and interest in her...and you know who you are and I thank you.......some never have, but that is there loss....she is an angel.
I will make sure once she gets her little Upsee I send you pictures of her standing......I already promised Alyson I would do this for her, as she has a friend who has twins, and one is disabled.......would be thrilled to share it.
Again to Grayson's cheering team.......thank you from the bottom of my heart......hugs.

Happy Birthday Jazzygirl!!! Hope you are having a wonder day!!Jazzy and Ducky and the rest of you lovely Hermits--you make me feel so good! Sometimes we need a soft kick in the butt to keep from going in the basement! I was well on my way last night! Thought about what you guys said and got up this morning with a big smile and a whole new perspective--at least for now. I am a big believer of doing one day at a time and just keeping on working on the days to follow. Had a very happy and fun day with my students. I know my students being happy in class depends on the tones the teacher sets. So I told myself, a lesson well learned from you!
Rescheduled a bone density test that my doctor arranged without conferring with me and that was at the same time of an important meeting at my job. Last night that seemed a big deal--today, I just called and had the date moved up for 3 days. It's amazing when you are able to think more clearly how you can move "mountains" around. Well have a wonderful day, my Hermits!

Ducky every one is always delighted to see Grayson's strength growing with her. And the girls are beautiful

Thanks Cami I know you do..........and I appreciate it.........you have followed her from the beginning, so you know what struggles she has had......when I get her picture in her Upsee i will post it.....I can't wait.......I am so excited....my God to see her standing upright will be wonderful.........just to see her be part of everything, and not being held or on the floor......she wants to do thi'ngs, but can't, now she will be right there with everyone standing........even if she is attached to her Mom or Dad........thanks again Cam......
Dwill......anything for a friend, and you are a friend..........so happy to see you happy and smiling again.......found out today I have 2 forms of skin cancer......having surgery on May 7th...not what I wanted to hear, but hey, shit happens right................it could be worse........hugs everyone.
-
dwill, glad the appointment change seemed a clear choice today. I know what you mean about moving mountains around. I often find that time is an ally only after it has helped and after I have suffered with concern. Too bad I don't remember to tell myself to take "wait time." I too often fret over issues that would seem easier if I just put myself on "pause" for awhile or better yet overnight.
Ducky, sorry to hear about your skin cancers. Thinking of you. It will be wonderful to see Grayson seeing the world upright.
-
HOLD ON--WAIT--Ducky u have skin cancer now? WTF I don't remember u saying anything bfore--Sorry but I need more info on this, and kinds. Jeeze like one's not enough.
Onco I sometimes wonder just what these Dr.s know, I mean I'm grateful to all of mine but there is a fine line with caring and worrying about a law suit too. And sometimes u don't know what is going on--and most Docs will say oh this will disappear in time--what time? they won't give u a time cuz know one knows and u can't hold them to it either. Ha
