kathec, sounds fun, once I catch up here I'll go check out that forum.
Welcome Persephone40! Have no experience with chemo myself, but I am sure others can help.
CCFW, Tuesday will be my first day shoveling since dx/sx. Hope it goes as well as it did for you!
Welcome lovewins, please feel free to jump in at any time!
OK Spookie, rub it in for now, but when the hurricanes come that we in the north don't get, we will still feel for you. No matter where we live, mother nature gets us with something!! When I lived in CA it was earthquakes, turns out MT is #4 state for earthquakes so didn't gain much there, but it is colder than a rat's a$$ here in winter!
Oh Teka, 15 days? Carp, all the stuff I ordered online is not her yet and I have to mail it out when it does! -
grammaB, were you on a sugar high when posting? -

15.5 hours at work today. I'm tired. I'm just reading here trying to keep up. Maybe I'll have more to say after my shift later today. I need sleep.
-
Dutch that sounds like a horrible time, how can u do that" Omg u need to rest. I'm sorry I complain about nothing.
Jazzy hahaha good one.
-
Dutch, do you often have such long work days? I hope you slept well.
Jazzy, have you been losing sleep over the "going live?" -
Jazzy. Love it! -
No Sally, working that many hours in a day is unusual. I slept soundly. I didn't hear my alarm this morning but still woke in time to go to work.
Camille, I just keep doing it until it's done. I rested. It's been a busy week. My back hurts so of course you know where my mind goes.
-
dutchiris,
You need a long soak in the tub ;o) -
Dutch I just get concerned about how hard u gals work, I don't know why, but a soak in the tub with bubbles sounds great--well I couldn't get up anymore but as long as u can. LOL I hope I just took my last call for my job today, they just come at all times, especially now furnaces going out and electricity mishaps--so to me these are emergencies. But then again I just answer phones.
It's so cold here that---oh forget it it's freezing with wind chill way in the minuses tonite, I hate to hear wind chills it seems much warmer without them. Even tho I need to get out to get some things, there is never a car available for me--not that I would drive it cuz I still get lost around here but it's just to cold with black ice in some places even if it's in one place I would find it--so I give my list to my DD-well at least it really doesn't bother me to stay in. I never knew I could be so entirely fine by not leaving my home--I think I'm strange and that doesn't even bother me. Oh well I'm thankful I have a home to live in. And as u all know I LOVE living with my GS-oh when I hear the door open at 4PM I'm so happy so I've got it good.
-
The bad thing about a soak in a nice warm tubis that you have to get out eventually. I have a warm fuzzy blanket. My cats love it. There's nothing like falling asleep in my recliner and waking up because you can't move. The cats are sleeping on me and my blanket. It is extra warm that way though.
-
Dutch I do the same thing with my chair--I don't even have a bed anymore no sense in it and my ct and I snuggle so I'm nice and warm too with all my flannels stuff on and my great blanket. LOL

Hi hermits- three days into go live and figured I better surface for my ladies here. Things are going well, some problems, maybe one bigger problem we need to deal with tomorrow on revenue routing, but so far, we are just able to fix everything. A go live is deemed successful if the system works as designed and can be fixed if things are not working right. Anything else would be a "go dead", so to speak.
Persephone- I love your handle here. I remember learning about that greek goddess in my Greek mythology class in college. Glad you found us and was thinking about your chemo and concerns about your immune system. I did not go through chemo (only surgery and rad, plus now some AI meds for the longer term), but my sister did. We both had bc at the same time and she was diagnosed a few months before me and started right away with chemo. She too was very worried about picking things up so what she did was to just keep her time out in public places to a minimum and to definately not go during the known busiest times. The hard part for you this time of year is that everything is busy with people out shopping, preparing extra food items, etc.
She also would just have people come in to visit in limited amounts. The benefit of that is if you get tired (and you will from chemo), you can always just say you are tired and excuse yourself to rest. People are pretty good about these things, and will usually not stay long anyways. The other thing you can do is to have someone take you out for a ride to see the Xmas lights in your area and maybe hit a drive through Starbucks for a hot drink. That way you get out and about, but keep your exposure to a minimum. There is a lot to be said for going out for rides in the car. I wish you the best and let us know how you are doing?
Lily- some of the gals here have made a very good point about men and their wives. I went through something similar with my brother some 30 years ago with his wife. Although his earlier girlfriends were very enjoyable to be around, his wife began taking over the minute they started getting involved. From there, it got worse as they got engaged, married, adopted a child. Both my sister and I were close to our brother but that stopped when she came on the scene. She liked my parents at first, but then did not like the fact my brother was so close to my mom either. It was all very hard for a long time. Some women are just not nice to other women. I also came to see her as a high maitenance person who just needed a lot from my brother and did not want him paying attention to anyone else. Do I think that is healthy? No! But it was the way it was for them. Anyways, I hope things may improve with time, but for now I encourage you to spend time with people who DO want to spend time with you. I personally have no patience for anything else these days.
Dutchiris- those are long days you are working. I am working 12 hour days right now, but it won't last forever. Next few weeks through Xmas will be busy for our team. I hope you are able to take care of yourself as best you can. Hot baths, getting enough sleep, eating well are all key right now. And exercise too (which I am personally struggling to get with the longer hours). Is this a normal schedule for you? I know I cannot do the longer hours for any duration. I hope you can find some balance soon.
Hope all the other hermits are doing okay this week. I am sleeping better now too that we passed our big deadline! -
Teka isn't a lap cat which is ok because I need to leave the recliner quite often to pee. -
Teka- LOL! Hope you are staying warm! -
I saw this on FB and thought these parrots were so beautiful, I had to share. -
Would you believe that the spring 2014 flower & vegetable garden catalogs are now showing up in the mail.
I so love to look at the lovely pictures! -
Jazzygirl,
Conures! -
Teka- yes, I would believe it! Just like they start sending out catalogs with spring and summer clothing. It's cold here, no t-shirt for me for a long time!
And they are conures. I was trying to think of the name. I saw a really wonderful documentary on PBS about all the beautiful parrots of Australia and NZ and remember them talking about these birds. I have always wanted a parrot, I had parakeets as a young person and just loved them! -
Jazzy I'm glad everything is going so well for u and the horrible pressure has lessoned a bit. U should have done the computers for the Whitehouse.
Teka LOL my cat goes with me and gets in the sink for a little bath, then we come back to bed. Crazy cat.
-
sun conures. Extremely loud! -
They sound just like a blue jay. -
LOL Teka, no, I was just trying to get caught up and not miss anyone. Now I see I am behind once again!
Too funny Jazzy! brrrrr
Dutch, that is a grueling amount of time to work! Glad you got some good rest.
Beautiful birds Jazzy! -
-
How's that comin at ya?
-
JazzyGirl, thank you sharing your story and also the suggestions about taking a car ride for Christmas lights and coffee (I love Starbucks!). I think I may do that one of these nights and have the hubby drive me -
