Teka-petting bumblebees. Beautiful.
-
Teka I never heard of anyone petting a bee--she is one with nature--she mst have a beautiful soul. OH I just thought of my Dad cuz he would do things like that, he taught me how to pick up a bee or wasp so I wouldn't get stung but they wouldn't get hurt. I never really learned but his beliefs were nature and universe--my mom was Catholic so we were in Catholic school and raised in that religion, But honestly my Dad was so much more interesting in his beliefs. Oh well
-
Cammie hope your dinner is everything you want it to be
Thanks Lori you do what you have to..Chili and Cornbread sounds heavenly, can't wait to make it for me, I am the only one who likes it, didn't make it last year but will this one.
Spook me too!!!
checking in....had 920cc's taken out of my lung last week not sure if I told you, chemo on again.....willl it or does it ever stop, nope don't think so....how is everybody?
-
Geez, blondie! thats alot of fluid! some ladies who had boob fills i was reading about, had 800ccs.i saw pics of one. thats like a whole huge internal boobs worth! hope you are feeling better. that would seem painfully hard to breathe or something! Gentle hug to you
-
Blondie do u feel better afer they do that. Is this something they will be doing all the time or I don't understand what's going on yet.....
-
Happy Friday everyone,
Teka, never knew you could pet bees..so cool. For that matter didn't know there was a way of handling them without getting stung. Geez all I remember was stepping on bees when I was a little girl on the farm, my sisters would too. The stupid thing about it, we never stopped running around without shoes...now thats as dumb as a green bean.
Wow Blondie...you must feel like a new woman after getting all that fluid out of you...hope you can breath easier, and be able to make some chili.
Kath-you have an awesome outlook with your mom, sounds like acceptance of the whole family dynamic. I too seem to be able to resolve issues with my parents, at least I wasn't full of anger....they were never very loving, but they did their best....It is so cool when we can reach a point in life where we can appreciate our home/bed/belongings...
Cami- was that your grandson you showed the pictures to? So cool how kids have such an imagination....Wilma (watermelon) is now up to 165 lbs. We have discussed what we are going to do with all the melon when we cut it open...I told dh to take it all to work...too bad you can't freeze it or make something out of watermelon...maybe I will see if its possible to make watermelon slushys...the type where you make a big batch and scoop out as much as you want then add booze....lol
Went rummage saling with DH...bought some pictures....was a good morning. DH has been really trying with me, and is much easier to be around...I think he finally got th jest of the fact that I was really at the end of my rope.....I still wished he could be more nurturing, but heck ya can't have it all.
Monday I go in to find results of all my tests......gulp.....
-
Creamy watermelon pie!!!
Daughter didn't pick up the 2 cold bumblebees moving slowly on the flowers.
-
TGIF hermits. Cold snap moving through the west, feels more like late fall early winter here than Sept. I like the coolness though, especially after the hot, HOT summer. Snow coming up north too!
Blondie- so much fluid removed, but hope it helped the breathing issues. Between that and the chemo, you must be very tired. Thinking of you this evening and sending love and light your way.
Lori- you are waiting on test results, never easy. Glad to hear DH is beginning to understand the whole thing better. Sometimes it just takes a bit of time for some to get on board with this whole process we are going through.
Teka and Cami-
Going to head to the pool for some laps and the hot tub. A bit behind on my exercise. I talked to a friend today who lost 60 pounds and she inspired me as I am working to loose weight too.
-
Weight Oh please I can't talk about that--to to much to loose.
But Lori u can freeze watermelon--it's smooshie for drinks and aren't frozen melon balls? I know just what u feel like doing. LOL Good luck with results Monday--let us know as soon as u do, Sorry I'm a little pushy about these things.
Jazzy I didn't hear about sno yet, Wow that's early.
Oh and yes Lori I had to show Joey those pics--he'll not see anything like that often.
-
Cami- we can get these cold snaps in early fall. Had one a few years ago that brought snow all over NM in early October during the balloon fiesta (starts next weekend).
Strange thing about my arimidex script. My last refill required an auth by my breast surgeon, who started me on this. I have a med onc too and he is really the one who is helping me with the management of this for the short and long term. I had to struggle this script refill this past week, the pharmacy could not get them to refill it and I had to call twice to the doctors off to get it refilled (after running out of the pills today). Now the script is only for another month. I am supposed to be taking this for five years? You would think I am trying to get a script for crack or something.
But I think I know what is happening. My bc tried to be a one stop shop with my med care, except for the rad onc she sent me to in AZ for treatment. I had to repeatedly push to be sure I had the correct team to get me through the treatment process I was supposed to have (and I have the sister doctor and friend in town who is a doc and advising all the way) and perhaps she just figured the MO is going to handle this now. I see him end of October, which is about the time this next one will run out and will just get it refilled through him. Who needs this weird hassle? In many ways, I feel ready to cut her loose. I really need the MO now, along with my bi annual mammos.
-
Teka..creamy watermelon pie...sounds delish, and how bout ala mode. If ya come across a recipe let me know
Cool and windy here tonight.....good night to veg out on sofa. Tomorrow we are off at six am for Illinois for another pumpkin contest.....cowboy estimated 1100 lb
Good night Jazzy, Cami, Teka, Lilly, Kath,Blondie, CC, Julie and Deb; you are all my pen pal buddies
-
Jazzy... My refills have run the same way! I tried to refill once last month when I had maybe 4 pills left. I was told (unkindly) no--it was too soon. And the tone of suspicion was like I was trying to get away with something underhanded. I wish they knew how deeply I would love to run the other way and quit the whole mess... stop all the se's and all the vitamin supplements and the whole merry-go-round! I was so surprised to hear you had a similar experience. What is it about this drug? It certainly isn't recreational!!
Lori... wow --1100 pounds~! Sounds like a winner to me!
Camille... all ok? Lily... life treating you well? Teka... daughter's kitten growing like mad? All... hoping you have a good week ahead.
Next weekend we're off to the races. DD2 has entered her dachshund in a "weiner fest" in Texas... so DH and I will accompany her for the first race in his "career"... I can't imagine. I've only seen videos she has shown me online--with big ears flying and teeny legs going as fast as nature allows.
Hugs...

Hi hermits- end of a beautiful weekend here in NM. Weather has been perfect for outdoor things. I spent time sprucing up my front and back yard gardens today. Also working on my dinner party plans for Tuesday when my cousins are here. I have not entertained much in awhile so it is fun to plan a dinner for my beloved cousins who are coming all the way from the east coast (passing through on other adventures). I will work half days tomorrow and Tuesday (yay!)
Skittle- interesting that you had the same experience with the script refill. I think my first one was written for 6 months, so I had no problem renewing it until this month. I know sometimes they won't renew something until they see you but I saw her in August and she said she does not need to see me until next Feb again. So I don't get it but going to just talk to the MO when I see him and see what the deal is? I am with you, I would gladly opt out of this if they thought I should!
And good luck with the weiner fest. May the best dog win!
Cami-did you have that dinner yet? Was that this saturday, last saturday, next saturday?
Wishing you all a good week ahead and hope everyone out there is doing okay. From the hermits we have not heard from in awhile (Markat, Slickie, LaurieParr), we are here for you if you need us!
-
Good Morning---Skittle the races? that sounds fun I'm sure u'll enjoy u'rself so much==I would,
Jazzy u'll enjoy u'r dinner with ur cousins, it'll be so fun.
Oh I had my dinner and it was wonderful--And after eating I got up to go to the bthroom and I went with Diarrhea starting as soon as I stood up and didn't have depends on. So my sister and I had quite a time getting to the bathroom and of course we were laughing like crazy and she helped me Oh a disaster. But when I came back my nephew came up to me --ne's 54--so he's not a kid and said he wanted to take me home and we left--I'm super close to his wife and they wanted me to dtay by their house--no one was home here. but I'd rather be home so I had them take me home. But u guys know how my D is so it was my fault not wearing anthing I hadn;t ha it in a few days and purposely didn't eat cuz I had tests Sat. so I thought I was OK. Stupid me. See why I stay in so much hahaha
-
aw Cami....just glad you were able to laugh over the whole deal....and to have a sister that will laugh with you. If you don't mind me asking, what is causing the diarrhea?
Today is my appt....only I recieve test results on line, usually they don't send them until Doctor has seen the patient....maybe someone made a mistake?? Anyway, I have lots of nodes and "indeterminate" lesion on my liver. Also node on my thyroid...and pleural thickening on both lungs....I don't know what all this means in terms of it all being cancer?? Its been a long weekend, I have done my best to not dwell on it. I figure if it was really serious they would of called me right?? I will let you know how it turns out....
-
Put the cart before the horse! Methinks!
-
Well all my scans look good...have some nodes on lungs and thyroid, but am told these are normal. I do have pleural thickening, and no explanation for this. I was a light smoker for several years, but haven't smoked for several years too. I have a lesion on my liver, but this is most likely a hemangeonoma (sp). I will be having an mri in two days of my abdomen to confirm this. It has been a long weekend, the results were released on Mychart late Friday. This is NEVER done until after the Doc meets to go over them. SO I had all weekend to think about this. I plan on filing a complaint.... God people don't know what its like to live in fear of cancer returning...Today I am relieved, tired and crabby. Being afraid wears a person out...............blah....
-
Lori1020,
I hope all is well.
-
Lori I don't understand any of that talk---but let us know as soon as u find out.
And the Diarrhes has been going on 6 yrs now--with no answers, plenty of tests. I have a script for it, but--that has been one reson I' hermit some because I don't want to leave the house.
-
Cami- so sorry to hear about the D, but you have a very good attitude about everything. You are surrounded by a lot of loving people too, I can tell that too!
Lori- pathology reports without explanation can be scary. See what your doctor says about the liver and lungs. Like Teka said, no cart before the horse. Everything we don't understand can worry us.
Spent the afternoon with elder cousin and husband today. We had a lovely lunch together, then spent the afternoon at the botanical gardens. They have a butterfly pavillion there (still open), and have not been there in years. So many beautiful american and tropical butterflies fluttering all around you. We stopped at a lovely patio spot for a drink on the way back to the hotel (wine for them, iced tea for me), and cruised a bookstore next door afterwards that I love (they enjoyed too). Little bit of this and that and it was all good. Tomorrow is the dinner, but the other cousins are delayed with their plans to come here tomorrow, and won't be here until the weekend. So just dinner now with the three of us here at my house. I am enjoying visitor week!
-
Jazzy --sounds wonderful. Butterflies, tea, bookstore. sigh....
Camille --sorry about the D, but love your laughter. Your family is so blessed to have you.
Lori --Teka nailed it... carts and horses. It is so hard to wait and feel in the dark. Awful feeling. (That's one reason I am hopelessly proud of dd2's new job. She works in a lab that gives biopsy results worldwide in 24 hours. None of this long wait mess. Spares a ton of grief.) Hugs to you as your heart races and you hope for good news.
Hugs to all. sure wish we'd hear from Markat, Laurie, Slickchickie... Prayers that they are just taking a bco break.
-
Skittle,
I've known members to go off-line for months then come back on-line like only gone for the weekend. You'll adjust in time!
My family will post at least once in biography if I become incapacitated for whatever reason.
-
They went off-line in August!
-
hi kiddos! just checking in!
-
Kath hope u'r doing good.
-
Good Morning,
Yesterday was a long day....all tests look good for the most part. Some nodes in the lungs and thyroid as well as pleural thickening (Lungs). (Don't know what to make of the thickening, but guess it is nothing to worry about.) I am told the nodes in the lungs are granulations, although there is one that isn't
I was told that cat scans will pick up any imperfections in our body, so the small lumps are benign. However I do have a lesion in my liver, but the Radiologist thinks this is an hemanginoma. I will be having an MRI of my abdomen tomorrow afternoon to confirm this and will have a repeat scan in six months, just to keep an eye on the lesion and on one of the nodes that is not a granulation.
Bone scan looks good, echo looks good.
I was given the ok to move forward with the vaccination...
My sister suggested to get a second opinion about this....blah, don't want to deal with more docs....besides I would have to pay for it I'm thinking. All of this is done for the study, so any further review would not be included in the whole deal.....
-
Lori- everything here sounds okay for the most part. It sounds like you will have a few more tests before the decide anything else you may need to do (the MRI). I don't hear anything here that suggests they are not looking at everything very closely here.
Regarding second opinion, I got one last year around one of my treatment recommendations and found it helpful to get a better explanation. Check with your ins. company and around your coverage, and many times it may be covered, but only if you give them a heads up so they can authorize it. I would wait to hear all the results and recommendations for next steps before you make the effort around this.
Skittle- good to hear form you
Kathyec too!
Government shut down today, I hope none of you are affected by this with your work. I am someone who is going to be out there shopping in the new health exhanges for insurance. I am in a state program here that I was able to get into after a Cobra coveraged ended awhile ago with a job ending. That program is now being phased out with the new ACO so I have to find something before next May when my coverage with this current program ends. Thank god the pre-existing thing is going away, and I may save up to $300 a month on my monthly premiums.
-
I've always felt that the biggest problem with health insurance was the pre-existing condition clause!
Lori1020, positive MRl results.
-
Teka- you are very right about that. I tried to get an individual plan on the market after my Cobra expired in 2008, and could not get one due to uterine fibroids (under control, no issues, but they thought it was a reason to say no). I was lucky to live in a state that had a program that picks people up after Cobra, but it has always been super expensive. But since I am self employed/have my own business, it's a write off on my taxes. I do plan to get a robust plan given my history, as I am more easily able to deduct the insurance premium cost vs. out of pocket. I just have to find one that allows me to keep all my PCP and oncology specialists.
I always said I would stay on this program until 2014, and I had different options. Now I really need this after having BC!
I figured I would mention I will be "shopping" on the market now, in case anyone else is in the same situation. New territory for us all but very glad ACO that I can use is finally here.
-
skittle what is that?
Thanks peeps, it is much lighter, now have to hope it doesn't come back again....still on oxy but breathing much better.
Lori glad you got an explaination of the results.....
Jazzy love butterflies have a butterfly bush in my front yard and love watching them...
