I have a mac. Desktop and Ipad both. When I click on friends, the list comes up all jumbled up it goes crossways and then down for one person then crossways again, some almost lap over on the next one. Sometimes after viewing a few it goes into a correct order that is one friend listed and then on next line (down) another is listed. Much easier to read however I do not know what changes it or how to make it do it.
Another complaint is when you click on a topic in friends it does not go to the place in the topic where you can read that person's post. You have to search for it and go to new pages etc. It is not like it goes to the beginning it just goes to the topic somewhere and then you have to move from there.
Wish you could make it friendlier to use as I go to my favorite "friends" and favorite topics the most and they are not easy any more.

kats, added that to the list, and passed it along!

I know I'm repeating what others have said -- but it seems no longer possible to provide a link within a comment to a previous comment or even thread here on BCO. The link "breaks" after the forum URL, and you can only provide a link to a forum. I can no longer even provide a "cold" URL that someone could paste into their browser. After the comment is submitted, the new system somehow creates a hotlink to the forum only. This will REALLY limit the ability to provide information here!
ETA: I don't know if that was clear! I have often commented in response to someone's question by posting a link to a previous comment in another thread ("conversation"), or to the thread itself. Now, any BCO URL's "break" after the forum, and will only link to a whole forum. After the "break" there are dots (...) (ellipsis) -- so I can't even type in a "text-only" version of the whole URL for a reader to paste into their browser window.
-
AnnNYC, you're right, and it's something we've been raising since day one. Hope we can get the option of showing full URLs again soon!

Testing a link to a thread.
http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/135/topic/787534?page=1#idx_9
Weird. It seems to work for me? Or am I not getting what you are saying?
-
Well, Susan -- your link worked for me. But links I try to provide don't. Maybe it's my outdated browser...
-
All I'm doing is using the "insert/edit link" button for the first one (in my previous post) - copying/pasting the url from my browser (using Google Chrome)
In the second instance I'm just copying/pasting after selecting the "Paste as plain text" button.
-
Susan, your first link went to a specific post and your second link went to the top of the page for that thread for me... XP/IE8
-
Susan, your first link looked like it probably wouldn't work because the link was truncated and there were characters at the end that weren't underlined or hypertext-formatted. The whole link was there, though -- it was displayed at the bottom of my screen (MacBook Pro) when I hovered my cursor over the part that was hypertext. And the link worked just fine, taking me to a specific post in that thread.
So I think we can still post complete, functional links; they just don't display fully in the posted text. It does make it impossible to copy a link and take it somewhere else. Or am I missing something?
chrissyb, I'm going to copy and paste a line from your post:
"I was asked by a non stage IV member to pass on some info and wanted to copy/paste what she had written rather than have to retype it...".
I cheat when I copy text from a website and paste it into a compose window here. Sometimes the formatting gets all messed up when the source is a web page. I avoid that by adding a middle step: I copy the text and paste it into a Word document; then I copy it from the Word document and paste it in the compose window. I don't think I've ever had copy-pasted text mess up when I've done it that way. (Knock wood.)
Is italics formatting working yet?
otter
ETA: Italics formatting is not working yet. The sentence (question) above is displayed in italics in my compose window and even in my edit window, but not in the text as it posts to the thread.
Note: Oops. Apparently, italics formatting is working correctly in my version of Safari, but not with Firefox. With my old version of Firefox, the font is italicized in the compose window, but not when it gets posted. In Safari, both are italicized.

Is italics formatting working yet?
Otter - I copied and pasted your sentence - it showed up in italics on my screen, and it's showing as italics in my compose box.
Win7 with IE9
-
Thanks Otter I will copy/paste to a word doc and then to the thread. I was so used to just opening two windows and copying from one to another.
-
I may have missed this as I haven't read all this thread. Is there any way to remove the blank section on the left side of the screen. I tried resizing and something else that was mentioned but it didn't work. If we have to have blank section could it be on the right side?I use Chrome and Win7.
My only solution is to move my chair to the right!
Thanks

i wanted to thank you for a really FAST pm to me.. i thought it was just me... if i know you know, we're good. i've found a way around my "back to the top" not working.. after i post, i just scroll to the bottom, and hit favorite topics..works for me...3jaysmom
-
Yay 3jays!!! that's a whole lot quicker than going back to the top and then into favourites. Completely cuts out one click of the mouse. Think I'll be using this method in future.
-
Great news, 3jaysmom! While the team continues to work on these glitches, that's another fine solution (along with the Home and End keys for some, and Command + Up or Down cursor keys for others).
-
I've been doing THAT....scrolling to the bottom and using the short cuts from there....rather than scrolling back to the top....
But gleaning the active topics is STILL way to hard on my eyes and fingers.......as I continue to scroll endlessly.....
-
We've posted samples of a revised color scheme, and would love to read your comments about it, on this new thread.

[Edited to delete glitch reports. One of them self-cured; the others are old and have already been reported.]
BTW: I love the proposed color scheme on the sample pages. The darker lines and contrasting colors make it much easier to see transitions.

Any progress on the problem with the thread not going to where you last read. Sometimes it goes straight to the bottom comment spot when there are several posts above I haven't read.
The colours on my pc are fine - still too way much spacing between lines.
-
susieq58, having links go to the exact URL is in the works. We know it does that in some situations (such as from Search results), and they're addressing it as reported in other circumstances.
-
Okay, I have not been complaining and have been doing my best to accept the new board format.
However, I have spent the greater part of the morning trying to remove topics from my favorites.
I still have 300 plus topics to remove from my favorites (which go back to 2007 which I never marked as favorites) and I am truly getting weary.
Is there anyway to "select all" and have them removed from favorites, or must I continue with these 300 plus one at a time to have them removed from my favorites?
Thank you in advance for your assistance. -
I didn't have as many as you OneBad but it took a while just the same. One at a time. I'm sorry I'm of no help.
-
Thanks Marple-- if that is what it is, I guess I will break it up into several days of work and not go crazy trying to do it quickly.
-
Sorry, Jane, we don't have an answer for you right now -- but we will pass this along to our tech team and see if we can implement a solution for you in the next few days!
Thanks for your patience!

Thank you for your response.

When I write a post as I am doing now, the white background is glaring and difficult to follow as I am typing. Last night I was writing a PM to a dear friend and had to end the post as my eyes were getting blurry. It is very hard on the eyes, a week or so ago the post to reply space was a blue-y white which was much more conducive to posting, where did it go and why did it go
-
Sheesh. Mountain Lion? I think I'm still using Tabby Cat.

karen333, we'll pass along your comment, and also see how the upcoming color scheme change affects your experience. Thanks!
-
Just want to report that that each post in a thread now seems to be a very very light blue when i read it, though still white when I have not looked at it (ie further down the page).
This is a big improvement for me.
Thankyou
-
Thanks Nancy, adding to the list!
