I looked at some of the other condition stats. We're high in ovarian ca (which correlates with the breast ca). But why are we high in melanoma? Is it because we're so sun hungry that we don't ever wear sunscreen?
Nicole503, I have grandchildren in Hood River, so come down that way often.
-
LindaKR -Thank you for the info. Interesting to note that I lived in three of the high rated states: NJ (19 years); RI (9 years); WA (28 years). It was also reassuring to see that I was diagnosed and live in one of the states that is listed as having a low mortality rate.

Happy New Year! Here's to a year where we can experience peace of mind, body and spirit.
-
Happy New Year NW Neighbors! I'm looking forward to meeting you next month.
Love, Martha

I live on the East side of Redmond. I would like to get information on coming to the February get together.
Thanks a bunch Ginger

Here I start this thread and have to let you know I can't make it to Olympia :-( I won't be up that way until the 8th. Problem is we are going bankrupt and can't make extra trips that far. Sorry girls :-(
-
Grammie, I am sorry to hear that you can not make the gathering. Thank you so much for starting this.
Happy New Year everyone. See you in February.
-
I am going off in search of alittle more warmth and consistant sunshine for a couple of weeks. I will be back in time for Feb 2nd. Is it still on? When and where? Count me in the head count.
-
stop by and get me on your way....
-
Is the get together on? I've been out of town for over a month. If it's on, when and where?
-
Bumping for you. Think it is still on.
-
I have not heard where or when, but I think I understood it was in Olympia.
-
February 2nd for lunch in olympia - the last I heard but got stumped on where?? I can't go - no money to drive that far unfortunately - will be up that way the week after for grandson's birthday party..
-
Wish I could make, but I can't either!
-
Did anyone ever arrange a when and where for this - other than Olympia? It's not that big of a town - but still too big to just be Olympia....
- and a time?
-
Just found out that I have to work next weekend! Bummer. I hope that we can do this again sometime this summer.
-
I am not able to attend the gathering either, too close to surgery and not up to the long drive. I really hope we can get together in the summer.
-
Well, lets say at 2pm today we just think we are enjoying a little time together -
Bummer it didn't happen but by summer we should all be good

Hello Esther
Just checking in -- I lived in Maple Valley (near Renton) for 18 years (still own the house) & live near Portland now. Except when I'm in Mexico!
I was all packed & set to fly away Nov '12 when I was diagnosed w/Stage IV, the metastasis from a mastectomy in '92! Talk abt surprised. My husb was diagnosed w/anal cancer at the same time! He's in remission. Obviously we didn't go & were in hell for a year.
My doctor in Hillsboro OR changed my chemo from Ixempra to Xeloda 2 months ago because the former had stopped working. Thanks to being able to gather enough of the Xeloda pills I/we are able to spend 9 weeks in our beloved Puerto Vallarta -- escaping from the cold & drear of Portland/Seattle!
Good luck to us, eh!? Adriennek

Adrienne have a wonderful time! I am up east of redmond and it is just chilly here. I know it will be warmer weather down south for you.
Hugs Ginger
-
So, is our get-together off? Sounds like quite a few are not available.
-
It sounds like this isn't a good time for many. Perhaps we could think about summer?
-
summer sounds good
-
I think so too. Perhaps have some local get togethers before then.
-
Hi all, I am in Ketchikan, Alaska. Can I join your NW Group?
-
Hi Laceyk ~ Welcome!!
-
Welcome - we lived in Alaska 30+ years and loved it! There are a lot of transplanted Alaskans here enjoying more rain and less snow.
-
Hello Laceyk - You are definitely NW - so welcome!
-
Hi Lacey. Welcome
Ginger
-
bump this up.
Summer is here and getting ready to recede. Does anyone want to consider getting together this year?
