Hi W6, I think Beth1951 is in Pullman.
-
Most of us seem concentrated in western WA and oregon. One gal on another post is in Idaho.
-
I am in Pullman and I think there's another woman in Moscow, Idaho. e could certainly drive over together.
Seems like right now I don't know what exactly might be going on in February but I would love to meet other women who are dealng with breast cancer/
It would be easy to come meet you all.
Looking forward to it
Beth

Hope all you ladies on the NW coasts are weathering the storm okay. I'm sitting in my living room, recovering from my exchange surgery (11-16) and watching the sideways rain and leaves coming down.
Take care and hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
-
It's crazy down here too! We are expecting 4 inches of rain tonight! I'm out grocery shopping we DH. Hopefully, we get home before it hits.
-
We have officially broke the record set fifty years ago for rain. I am already sick of it and witer hasn't even arrived.
-
Our rain hasn't stopped all night - we have a metal roof - guess who didn't get much sleep... the light just came up and our flat on top of our mountain is a swimming pool... I don't know if our kids are going to be able to make it through I-5 from Battleground, WA to Roseburg, OR... Looks awfully flooded up here.. I hate to see what town looks like..
Looks bad out there..
-
I don't live in Bremerton, but they had over 5 inches of rain yesterday. Unbelievable.
Mary
-
Blue sky this morning! Hopefully it stays for a least an hour...
-
I'm a recess supervisor at an elementary school. We're a pretty tough bunch. Our kids are trained to wear raincoats, boots and bring umbrellas because we go outside virtually all the time.
We had our first indoor recess in 17 months yesterday.

-
Good choice of indoor recess. I met some people for lunch and couldn't believe how hard it was raining and blowing. Whitecaps on the sound.
GmaFoley, I hear you about the roof. We have a skylight directly over our bed and it was really loud in the heavy rain.
-
Yep , we have a metal roof also. Most of the time not bad but the last couple of days really loud and going on forever.
-
A metal roof would have been awful here this morning, heavy, heavy rain mixed with large hail pellets. Made quite a racket on our composition roof.
-
I'm looking out the window at work. I'm downtown Seattle facing south from the 25th floor, and can see this wall of rain slowly advancing. I can see to about 3 blocks south of the stadiums, and then everything just disappears. Glad I brought an umbrella if this stuff is still around at quitting time.
-
Gardengumby - I'm at Swedish getting my first chemo tx. No windows, but maybe that's best.
-
well, it looks like it dissolved, so no worries....
good luck on the chemo!!
-
Do you guys get together? I live on the Oregon coast in Reedsport, just west of Gma.
-
LindaKR, Welcome. We are planning to get together on Saturday, February 2nd in Olympia, Washington for lunch. I think that was the last plan.
-
juliaanna - thank you
-
As far as I know that's the plan so far.
-
that's all that's been planned, best as I know. I think the last question on the table was what time should we plan on?
-
Are most of you in Washington?
-
I've lost track but I think about a third are from OR.
-
I'm going to be in Vancouver WA on business 14-16 Jan 2013 and staying at the Hilton downtown. If anyone would like to have dinner or meet with a BC sister just to chat, let me know.
-
Maryah - bummer - we are going to be there to visit grandsons and family for Christmas, will be in Roseburg when you are coming :-(
-
I wanted to say hello and ask if you mind if I lurk in your thread. I'm not sure whether this thread is about building online community for NW women living with breast cancer or more focused on finding ways to get together?? I live in Portland but it seems unlikely that I will be able to come up to Olympia in Feb. because I'm starting chemo on 12/27.
I am trying to work half time through chemo (to keep my benefits) and I think weekends will be dedicated to rest rather than road trips! I'd love to lurk here though because I think we NW Women have a lot in common. For example, the advise to "make sure to keep walking through chemo" takes on a little more challenge when every day is rainy & grey for many months!
Just out of curiosity - have any of you heard that breast cancer rates are higher in the NW than average? I met a breast cancer survivor at a restaurant who seemed quite sure that this is the case. I forgot to ask my oncologist but thought it was interesting. She thought it might have something to do with Vitamin D.
Nice to meet you all.
Nicole
-
Here are stats from the CDC on breast cancer occurance and death from breast cancer by state - pretty interesting -
-
Linda, thanks for the info.
-
Nicole, you can lurk all you want! I originally made this thread to bond with other BC ladies that may be able to meet for coffee/ tea at times.
Also, I agree with the vitamin D deficiency. I was in a lot of pain during treatment and found out my D level was down to 26. It was supposed to be between 80 & 100 for cancer patients. I'm doing much better and after a year my level is up to 83. MO is pleased with that.
One time when I come up your way we could visit if you like? My kids & grandsons are up in Portland & Battleground, WA. -
LindaKR ~ Thanks for the CDC info. It does seem like, generally speaking, states in the Northern half of the US have higher rates than states in the Southern half. Curious indeed.
Hope most of you are getting some sun breaks today. Definitely lifted my spirits this morning!
