Our Christmas will be quite this year as DD#2 and her family cannot travel this far with the new GD due in Jan. and DD#1 and her crew are trying to get everything together and in place to move to Japan in Jan. They are still waiting on orders so not definite date on the move yet. It is hard to be in the waiting mode when you know there is so much that has to be done once to official orders come through. We will see DD#2 in Jan when the new GD arrives and DD#1 and her crew will stop by here before they leave the country.
3jays - so glad you got to spend some time with DS and GS I know you really enjoyed the time, just wish your DS could keep the good times going and skip all the other nonsense.
Isabella - you crack me up with all your stories. Sorry to hear about your friend, but the foob feeling was funny. Glad all the pups are settling in and finding friends and their place in the mix of things.
Wave - hope things went well for you today and that you did not have any bad side effects. We will be here to hold you hand every time and wishing you good treatments.
I did not have my Aredia treatment this month as my red blood cell count was too low and there is an issue with my kidney function so they gave the a shot of Aransep to help get the blood count up and told me to drink plenty of liquids and they will check everything again in 3 weeks and if everything is better they will resume the Aredia on the 17th of Jan. If not, I may have to get the transfusion after all. I don't feel bad, but I don't feel really good either and my feet and ankles are swollen and I have a slight headache. So I guess it is a good thing things will be quiet around here for the holidays. They have also reduced my pain patch to every 72 hours instead of the 48 hours so we will see how I can manage with the new dosage schedule.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

3jays, so glad your sons are stepping up a bit, that you're enjoying the grands!
Marybe, thanks for the photos - just lovely! I finally found your thread...
Isabella, I'm thinking of you - hope your mirror gets fixed, among other things...
Amyjo, I hope your pain subsides, and your counts stabilize. Glad to hear from you.
Good thoughts to each and all of us....
After the holidays, I'm hibernating in my new sewing room. Today is butter cookies, sweet and plain breads, giftwrapping. Tomorrow I'll clean, set the table, and do any pre-cooking for Saturday, which is our get-together. DH and I will be eating leftovers and living in pjs by Christmas day.
I did finally learn to shop online, and was proud of myself to sneakily order him some music cd's for his gift. Oops, I forgot I was using his account info, and didn't go into his email & delete the order confirmation

Marybe, Beautiful!

Woah...I am totally walking around like a zombie. I am so tired I could fall over onto my keyboard and sleep, I think. I have been out somewhere every day for a week, and it's just caught up with me. I am betting when I do get to bed I won't be able to get off to sleep ! This morning it was 3.45 when I last looked at my clock...and was up at 8 to be off to town . I managed to grab a lift, I wouldn't have made it safely under my own steam. DH was going into the town, and asked did I want a lift at all...it was so opportune... as I really wanted to go today ! He dropped me off and gave me 2 hours before he was coming back that way and would drive me home. He knows how I always like to get to the shops as much as I can the last week before Christmas, and he knows how much I like to eat out ( not being a cook ) so we called at the village pub for some tea. I managed to pick up 3 things at the dress shop, it was their sale starting today, that's why I was itching to get to town. Sorted out something for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, plus a long cardigan. I love the long cardigans, the ones like coats, I always have to lop 6"-8" off the bottom tho', being a shortie.
I was just trying to catch up on some TV when I got in, and must have fallen asleep within 20 mins. of sitting down, so missed what I wanted to see. ...now it's 11.30pm and I have just put the dogs to bed and hopped on the computer. I intended to get on the 'phone and grovel to DD at some point today, but now it's a bit late !!! Shall have to sort our little altercation out, don't want any awkwardness on Christmas Day....in fact I wish I was staying here on my own on Christmas Day...I have NO sparkle left in me at all this week....all this hobbling around the shops lately is killing my back. I am SO ready to start my pain patches, I got the prescription from the Dr almost 4 weeks ago, and am waiting 'til Boxing Day to put the 1st one on. I am getting terrible warnings about nausea from all I speak to, so thought the pain I am used to would be the lesser of the two evils, can't cope with Christmas preparations, PLUS being sick. I just might be the one that bucks the trend, and has no sickness at all, but don't think I shall be so lucky.
DH has another op. coming up Feb 6th....this time a nerve to be released, (and pinned back ??) in his elbow and shoulder...I have been draughted in to drive, as he will be strapped up for a few days. When he has finished with all these ops he will be just about rebuilt ! He has had 2 elbows cleaned out, a rotator cuff done twice, a frozen shoulder un-frozen , and both carpal tunnels done, all in the last 18 months or so. He is muttering about his crackling knees now !
Barb, the lovely Christmas bouquet was from a friend of mine ( male !!) who I sometimes go for trips out with. He is good company, we have known each other 40 odd years I would think, he is in the same line of business as I am, so we have a lot to talk about, we are going out for dinner Christmas Eve....but.....all platonic.... I actually prefer to talk to men, I like farming and cars and not much into cooking/ housewifey things !!!! very much like my friend who gave me a squeeze in the village shop .....sorry, girls...but I can't get up a sweat about making a cake !!! My cakes come in a box from the supermarket shelf ! Just to be awkward I love to sew ....go figure. Probably was a landowning Duke or Prince in a former life, certainly wouldn't have wanted to be a woman years ago.
Marybe...HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you...it will be 23rd in 10 minutes here, so just getting it in before I fall asleep. I hope your trip is going along OK.
Isabella.

What a batch of inspiring women.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Marybe! Safe travels.
Barbe, it's great you like your new surgeon!
-
Well, Isabella, at least DH came in handy for a taxi driver! Although it appears you'll be returning that favor in the coming weeks with his operation.
AmyJo, it's so good to see you posting here! Even if your Christmas is quiet, you have that new GD coming in January, and that's certainly something to look forward to! How many will this one make?
I just finished making a caramel cake for DS's birthday, which was yesterday. He's working in Asheville during the week now but should be home tonight. Caramel cakes are hard for me to make but it's what he always wants. The icing is so tricky to get thick enough to spread but not thick enough to harden immediately, but this one turned out better than many that I've made. Must have held my mouth right or something.
Lisa, thanks for the rose pics. Especially love the yellow one.
GS went back to dr for a recheck on his pneumonia yesterday and it's still not cleared up, so he gets an additional antibiotic. He also got a nebulizer "breathing treatment" today and his mother says that helped too.
Marybe, if I don't get to post tomorrow, have a Happy Birthday (!) visiting your old home town! Hope all's going well.
Kathy

Happy holidays to all.
I'm happy the days are getting longer! Today is get-ready day. Made butter cookies last night and in the slow-but-stupid category, after nearly 40 years I finally figured how to roll them thin enough! (flour-covered cloth). Duh! Today I'll make a berry pie, clean house, set the table, wrap a few gifts... Yesterday I spent a lot of the day playing with new fabric that just arrived -- was very proud of myself that I just "looked" and didn't cut anything...
3jays, good on you for helping your neighbor! I'm sort of like you & Isabella, most of my best friends are guys... I tell my DD if she wants to meet men, go to a tractor show or a hardware store... Isabella I hope you're getting some well-deserved rest!
To all, I wish you the very best now and in the year to come. Health and happiness, peace and joy.
-
Lost, if you've actually TOUCHED the fabric it is no longer considered "new". You may now buy more!!!
Ta Da.
-
Love your thinking Barbe!....lol
-
Barbe, you made me spew my coffee, LOL. I really like your thinking.
Just found out that my DB & SIL are bringing 2 pies and 3 side dishes. Their DIL is bringing a pie, candy, and two side dishes. Their DD & her bf bailed, so there are only going to be six of us. Looks like I'll be doing the meat, potatoes, gravy, and whipped cream; and setting the table.
Plenty of time to look at more fabric....
-
L_C, that doesn't sound too taxing!
Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah to all!
-
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah! Hope you day is filled with joy and laughter!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Its Christmas morning here. We had a wonderful night last night with DDs, Sil and the little ones. The food was great and had so much fun. This is what Christmas is all about.
Today we will go to Church , DD1 is singing and then later go to my DH's sister's for lunch that is always stressful for loads of reasons but at least its not far if we wish to come home.
Must get my breakfast as we are expecting my son and nephew to skype at some time this morning.
Hope those who celebrate this feastival have a great day and I wish blessings for all at this time.

Lovely tree, Lisa.
