Lovely day here in NC, but already it's in the 90's.  I shudder to think what August might be like!

Lisa and Amyjo, thanks for posting the beautiful rose and lily.  Priceless picture of Daisy Dog, AmyJo---you can tell she's darn PO'ed!  I'm so glad to know your folks in OK are okay, too.  The weather has gotten so frightening lately in so many places.  Until recent years, we never heard of tornados in this area, but we've had some this year.

3jays, it's so good to hear from you, and I'm sorry nothing seems to be working yet.  MRSA is such a horrid thing to have to deal with  and I wish the antibiotics would take hold.  My sister got it while in the hospital and fortunately hasn't had a recurrence.

Alyson, hope you had a lovely time with those precious babies!  Our DGS will be 2 on Sunday and I even got a new camera for the occasion.

I tried to get out this morning but had to come in after about 5 minutes because it was so blamed hot!  May is not supposed to be this hot in NC!  I did manage to get out late this evening and finish triming the rose bushes that I had been neglecting.  It was still way too hot even at 8:00 p.m.!  I was wringing wet with sweat, even my hair was wet. Needless to say I came in and got a nice cool shower.

In OK they average about 24 tornados a year and so far they have had something like 56 and it is still early in the tornado season!  Hopefully the kids will be moving back to the east coast in a few months. I am praying that DSIL will find a job close soon so they can move out of OK!

hey buds. work continues in our house and no internet there, but I'm at our trailer at the Jersey shore and have internet for a few days till we head back home - woo hoo!!  Alyson - glad to hear you're ok, heard earlier in the week of an earthquake near Aukland and I said - oh my God, I actually know someone from Aukland!!!  People looked at me like I was nuts and I had to tell hte whole story! Hate all these tornados, earthquakes, etc. ... we even had one in the Phila area recently and that is NOT supposed to happen.  hope to check in more often over the next couple days.

Planning to hang at the pool all weekend because it is hot as the dickens here. (surprise, surprise, it is Florida). Thank goodness I live at the beach which is at least 10 degrees cooler than inland.

Mary, have fun down the shore! I used to summer in Wildwood when I lived in Harrisburg.

Just hope I get time over the weekend to have a walk on the beach. Have a meeting ( four days) at a church retreat /meeting centre by a beautiful beach. Meeting is going to last four day!!!! Know we get wine with dinner but might just take a little something as well and I certainly will be taking my coffee.

    Big hugs to all.

BarbA - enjoy the pool. I tried on my swimsuit and it fell off!  So I am headed for some shopping therapy.  At least it is cool in the mall.

Alyson - sounds like you have a busy weekend.  Remember to get some rest and enjoy the beach as much as you can.

Barbara, there's just no place like Wildwood, is there? We summered there, and at an aunt's house in Stone Harbor, all my childhood and teen years. It was a no-brainer for me and hub to want a place after we had kids but couldn't afford a "real" house so we stumbled on a "condo campground" outside Stone Harbor. You buy the land, own it outright, and put your trailer there. We've built two additions, one on the side and one on the back, so it's a decent amount of living space. Trailer trash at its best!  I'm still jealous of anyone who lives near a beach all year long, but it's tempered by being able to go down our access road to the Delaware Bay several months during the year. Life is good :)

Amy, I hope it's good news that the suit fell off, meaning that you wanted to drop weight and not that illness led to weight loss. I always think "I wish that would happen to me" but obviously I know better than to really wish for that. Luckily my stunning good looks and winning personality make up for my body's shortfalls - ha!!  It's sooo nice to have a jump on the weekend. Went out doing errands today and it's crowded enough already - I can't imagine how bad it will be tomorrow and Saturday so I'm glad I can avoid the stores then, unless it's some retail therapy of my choice :)

So what is considered older - I'm 55 by the calendar, but 30 in spirit!!  Love this thread.

Linda, welcome!  I'm 55 also but you're older than me in spirit, I stopped about 24!!!  I've been on Aromasin for about a year and a half (after tamox for 3 and a half) and I fared pretty well, hope you do well also. I stop all together within the next 30 days and can't wait (except when I dread it, lol!!) Enjoy the ride in this room.

marlegal - how exciting that you get to stop!!  I still have 4 1/2 years to go.  I have a lot of bone, joint and muscle pain - I had my last herceptin last week, so am waiting to see if it's the herceptin that's causing the problem or the aromasin.  It must be scary to stop treatment totally, I know I feel like my herceptin and AI are my safety nets.

There is definitely a certain amount of scariness involved, but also relief ... a mixed bag. I had surgery, chemo, radiation, and hormonal therapy over the course of 6 yrs, so more than anything I feel I've done my bit and I'm ready to just take my vitamins and calcium daily :)  Tamox gave me joint/muscle pain which was greatly helped in my case by CosaminDS, an OTC supplement recommended by two of my doctors. There are other similar meds but that one is the only one that worked for me. If your pain persists, ask your docs about.

Marlegal - Yes it is a good thing that the suit fell off. I am not really trying to lose weight but I am trying to keep it under control and eating healthier and with the added mild exercise the weight is slowly falling off, I am even getting shorter!!! I am down to 5' 2 1/2" and I used to be 5' 4"!  When and if I ever get to 130lbs I think i will start to keep it there, even if it means I just have to eat more cookies and ice cream.Smile

I wonder if the CosaminDS would help all of my bone and joint pain.  I see the onco tomorrow so I will ask him.  I have to get some relief as the 72 hr pain patch is barely lasting 24 hrs for me.  My hands, elbows and knees hurt the most.  The rest of me seems to be okay.  I wake up several times a night and have to rub especially my hands with Aspercream or lotion until they are warm and that seems to help enough for me to get back to sleep for a little while.

I think tomorrow after the onco I will need some shopping therapy.  Hope everyone has a good nights rest.

Welcome Linda!  It's good to have you here and I know you'll enjoy this thread.  I started generic arimidex almost 6 months ago so we've got about the same amount of time to go.  I''ve had some joint pain and a lot of stiffness when I get up after sitting for a while, or when getting out of the car, but so far, it's not too bad.

Marlegal, you go girl!  Almost done.

So your bathing suit fell off, AmyJo?  I need a new one too, for the beach, and I haven't yet tried on my old one.  I can assure you, however, that my old one will NOT fall off!!  I hate, absolutely hate, to try on bathing suits. When we went to the beach last summer I didn't even put my bathing suit on once.  I'd gotten the diagnosis only 2 days before we left and was to see the surgeon 2 days after we got back, so it wasn't DH and my best vacation.  This year's family vacation (with DD, DS and DIL, her mother, and DGS) will be much better!

Amy, if your doc gives the go ahead for the CosaminDS, just know that it can take a couple weeks before the results are felt. That can be a bit discouraging at first. I tried Walgreen's version of supposedly the same medicine and a few weeks later I wondered why I was so achy again. I don't know why some ingredients seem the same yet the more expensive brand name truly works better, but this is definitely one of those cases. When I switched back to the CosaminDS the symptoms got better again. And they're not paying me anything to say that!!

Thanks for the welcomes.  I'm allergic to crab and shrimp so I can't take the CosaminDS for the pain, has anyone tried the vegetarian glucosamine?

MArrianne, congratulations on baby Olivia.  A new baby girl, you will have so much fun!

Barbe, I am sorry you don't have a solution to your pain yet.

Tekla good news on your mammogram results.

Welcome, Linda. We are a fun group. AmyJo, I think the cosamin will help. I know that I have minor arthritis and started it and within 10 days noticed a big difference.

So today is hang out at the pool day followed by a trip to a local beach bar to see DH's band play. If I get some good pix, I will post. For those friends on Facebook, I will definitely put up some video. We will be rocking St Pete Beach tonight!

Barb - I am still trying to figure out when I can get down there.  You Rock all the time sweetie.

Mariegal - I will definately talk to the onco today about the CosaminDS. He may want to try that before upping pain patch again.  I will be leaving in about 30 minutes to drive to my appointment.  I will fill everyone in when I get back.

Marlegal - Did not get to see the onco, he is now out of the office on Fridays, so I got his Nurse Practioner. While she is sweet, she does not really look at my records.  She told me to take ibuprophine every 4-6 hours. Duhhhh?  I told her I was already taking the max doeage of Aleve and my record has clearly marked that ibuprophine does no good on me.  Plus because of the liver mets and the propencity for ibuprophine to cause liver damage I will not take it. I also asked for a new script for the pain patches I already have and she did not sign off on it so I can get it.  Good thing I go back on Tuesday when onco will be there.  He will tell me if my counts are ok to get my next treatment or if I have to do something else before I can get my treatment.  Beleive me they will find out on Tuesday that I do not want them to ask Sara, NP, they better get MY MO! The office is supposed to be closed on Monday, but I may call anyway just so I will be first in the que on Tuesday when they come in. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.  It is supposed to be hot with scattered showers today.

Oh Mary, great pic!!! AJ I really hope your onc can get to the bottom of the pain situation. That just sucks having pain 24/7.

Hot here in FL. I was at the pool for an hour yesterday and got very pink but not red. Today I am doing my back side. Then I am done!

BarbA - take care not to burn sweetie!  No fun is sunburns and our cheerleader needs to have lots of fun.

I tried on DD#2s swimsuit that she left here last summer and it fits!  It is cut a little high in the legs for me, but it did fit.  I think I will head to Sears and their Lands End dept. to see if I can find one with more modist legs.  The higher cut legs are not a pretty site on me.Embarassed

Believe it or not, Marty and I were the only ones at the pool (except for an ibis whose pic I posted on Life's a Beach). The water was perfect!
