Hey Girls, Thanks for the cake,  yum...... chocolate and strawberries! My favorites. The Forth is my day, 04/04. early fifties. nuf said.. I had to renew my drivers license and I did it on line!!!!! That's great, I thought they would use the same old photo but DH and I had been renewing a motorcycle permit (because we had a couple of scooters) and I fell and never got the permanent permit but that's the last photo they had of me and it's not nearly as bad as the old one.

Where is the other thread where ya'll are talking serious stuff? I missed that part.

Here's to the last 20 minutes of this age. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Thats nice.

    Connie

    Happy birthday Connie!

Don't know how I forgot this one, but I went to school with a boy named Tubby Pigg.  The Tubby was a nickname given to him by his family and it followed him all through school.  Honestly, what some people do to their kids.

Marlegal I wish that was not just a picture, yummy.

On the names front how about three sisiters named Chelsea, Cinnamon and Sugar and their last name was Bunn. There mother's name was Honey!!! Isabella may find the twins called Benson and Hedges amusing. I knew an older pair, more recently heard of 4year olds called that. Then there were the girl twins called Pene and Lope. I have taught the usual lot of SKye, Storm, Rayne etc.  Then of course we find some funny which are quite ordinary for most of you. Some one here called Randy would be sniggered at. Had students once in the same class with surnames of DIck and Cocks and it was so hard to say Richard Cocks that I never used the last name.

Must go and put some potatoes on for dinner.

I had a client years ago whose name was Dick Weeds. It was real hard not to LMBO when we had meetings and had to introduce him.

I once knew a Vietnamese couple that no one wanted to inroduce in the usual form of "husband and wife, last name".  They were always introduced and Phouc Win and his wife Yu. (spelling Americanized)

I'm really getting chuckles out of the funny names.  When I was a kid my father referred to this one neighbor as "Atlas" ....the 95 pound weakling until he took the Atlas course sold years ago.

Since that was the only name she ever heard him called....my girlfriend meeting him in front of his house spoke very sweetly and asked "Atlas"  by name....how he was !!!!!!!!   She couldn't figure out why he didn't answer her.   LOL   My family was quite embarrassed.   LOL

    Happy Birthday Connie.

We had girls and have a "K" thing going then they had girls and kept the "K'' going so I have:

DD#1 Kristen with GD#3 Kaitlyn and DD#2 Kathryn with GDs#1,2 & 4 Kendall, Kylie, and Karyn Needless to say I do the K, K, K, K, K, K,  .. oh you know who I mean... Matthew is the only one who gets his called the frist time.   DD#1 is expecting another baby in July and if it is a girl there will be another K!  If it is a boy there will me another M.

I think a lot of the time parents just don't think of the nicknames, of course sometimes they just don't think.  But I've known several kids whose first and last name combinations until the kids at school used the nicknames.  Patrick "Pat" Ball, Harold "Harry" Bottem, and so forth.

Some parents are just plain evil, too.  My father wanted to name me Gay, which was a pretty common name in the late 40's/early 50's but my mother said NO so Gay is my middle name and I am oh so glad she won that battle.

I have a friend named Gay and she actually married a man with the last name of Guy.  She goes by her middle name Diane.

3Jays, nice to see you in this room too ... I have a feeling I might spend more time here than the Middies  :)

Names - there was a woman in our office named Helen Waite.  If an attorney came over with a rush job, we'd tell him to go to Helen Waite :)   Okay, that's not a true story, but a joke I heard years ago that I hadn't thought of in ages and hoped you'd all like!!

I agree with Marybe--I'm already looking forward to the great pics I know will come.  I don't think I've ever had any Dutch food, unless you can count those windmill cookie thingies!
