Chabba that had to be the best birthday present ever, to think that all he is going through and he took the time and energy to think of you on your birthday...awesome.
Remember the conversation about peppadews? Well, last night a friend made stuffed sausage peppadew appetizers with some sort of tangy flavor that he would not disclose...very good....and now I can say I have had a peppadew. We also had wings, ceasar salad with chicken and one with salmon, calamari, and a bread with tampanade on top. This as all done by the restaraunt at the marina that our friend from out of town is renting a boat slip from (really cheap) so he wanted to repay the owner by giving him lots of business. So he invited all of us usual "wed. humpers" and foot the bill for this whole spread and several bottles of wine. We had the whole lower deck to ourselves and had a blast...ha ha as usual!
Ok now I have to pull a "Debbie" and clean this house in prep for the kids arriving.

DH talked to our neighbor today and our house and property were not damaged by Isaac. The neighbor's son takes care of our yard while we're away during the summer, and he will have all the debris and branches cleaned up by the time we get home the first of Oct.
It's very disturbing for us to see the pictures on the weather channel of local towns in our area with flooded homes and streets. Oh, I just got a text from my younger sister. She has 8 to 10 in. of water in her house. She has lived in this house at least 35 years and the water has never gotten this high before. So ironic that Isaac was a weak storm and has caused so much water damage.
-
carole - so sorry to hear about your sister's house - I was afraid this would happen! I am glad there is not the widespread devastation like during Katrina, but to those individuals affected it feels the same.
deb - welcome back - glad you had fun!
Everybody sounds busy - I am sitting here like a lump! I am making meat loaf for dinner - it is a pretty great recipe using beef/pork/lamb, mixed with italian bread crumbs, scallions, garlic, eggs/milk, spices, then topped with bacon slices. Last 15 minutes glazed with a mixture of dry mustard, chili sauce and br. sugar. DH's favorite! Also having steamed broccoli with lemon pepper and a sprinkling of parmesan and butternut squash risotto.

I've been watching the news too.
For my third job....In September I'm on call for disaster deployments (storms, flooding, fires, earthquakes, man made disasters, etc.).
I'm hoping it's a quiet month.
I'm the engineer geek for one of many Public Health Service portable hospitals.

I want to thank all of you again who expressed concern for my brother. He died quietly with his wife at his side this morning at 11:30 am.

Hi everyone! I am having a good time here in Atlantic City although the slots are not being very generous. Tonight we are heading to a new casino resort for dinner and some fun (Revel).
Here's the picture of Kay and I from Tuesday night. So both our DH's were taking pictures at the same time, looks like we were both looking at Kay's DH's phone instead of mine...lol. And my DH takes every picture with lots of head-space...must be because he's so tall. Speaking of tall, standing next to Kay made me feel tall, and I'm barely 5'2". She is a tiny little thing! Either that or my hair is bigger, which is a distinct possibility! These curls are getting unruly!!! We had a great time and it was so nice to meet another one of my BCO sisters.
Chabba - glad you had a happy birthday and I hope you celebrate all week!
Tomorrow is my big day - Day 1 of the Clinical Trial. We have to be at Dana Farber at 2:30, so we'll be leaving here early in the morning. I'm glad to get the show on the road...not liking leaving this nasty cancer unattended!
Carole - glad your property is OK, sorry to hear about your sister's place. I can't even begin to imagine having that much water in my home!
-
Chabba. Deepest sympathy on the loss of your brother. (((Hugs)))) to you and your family. Much love

Thank you all. I am comforted by your support and the knowledge that hospice kept him comfortable to the end and that he is now at peace.
-
Chabba,
There are no words to express how saddened I am to hear of your brother's passing... Losing someone close to you is just an indescribable sorrow. I am glad that he was able to wish you a happy birthday! I just wish it could have been so many more.... God, I hate this disease!!
Hugs and much love!
Seaside -
Prayers out tonight for our southern sisters!
Isaac sure is causing a huge mess there and showing what you all know and what we here in the NE saw first hand last year.... It isn't only the big, powerful hurricanes that do the worst damage... Those slow moving, tremendous rain producing storms can be catastrophic in their own right!
Hoping that Mother Nature has spared you all! -
Ditto on the prayers for Isaac path people.
-
Luv Rving...great happy picture...good for you....that man of yours must be tall. lol
Chabba: hugs to you and yours.
-
Chabba, heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I do hope that you can all have a wonderful celebration of his life.
Michelle and Kay, you look like sisters!! -
Chabba. I am so sorry. Your brother making the effort to wish you happy birthday has got to be the best gift of all.
Hugs.
I'm still working....sigh....
Eric -
Michelle and Kay what great pictures you look like you were having a fabulous time. Good luck with things tomorrow Michelle hope everything goes smooth and as planned.
-
chabba: So sorry about the loss of your brother..may he rest in peace.
Michelle: Glad you are enjoying Atlantic City..I was there once and for some reason it depressed me..maybe because it was the dead of winter...lol!
Carole: So sorry about your sister's home..that is just a nightmare.
I'm having fun in Fl visiting with grands and kids...they are wearing me out..lol!
-
Michelle, and KAARA,, glad you are having fun. Carol, let your sister know she is in my prayers.
I just saw the neatest recipe. I wish I could post pictures. But simple. Cut rings from red, green , yellow or Orange peppers. Put a slice of tomato in ring Break an egg in each ring, over half of tomato sprinkle with salt, pepper and cheese if you like cheese. Garnish with dill or rosemary. They can look like flowers, if you try. They showed them in a fry pan, but no reason you couldn't bake them if you want to do a bunch. Very pretty and easy. -
moon - I have seen it done in a big portobella mushroom cap too!
-
Mushrooms Yum! But I like the color of the peppers. I mean this could be a brunch or dinner entree its just so bright. I think I would add mushroom slices before the egg. Look up green peppers and eggs on pinterest, they pop up.
-
Chabba, I grieve for you over the loss of your brother.
-
My breakfast and dinner tomorrow will include the clinical trial drugs. I passed everything and picked up my 3-week supply at the pharmacy this afternoon. Woohoo!
-
Yay, luvrving! I am so glad you got in the trial.
-
Chabba I am sorry that you lost your brother but am so glad that he was able to call you on your birthday and that he was so well cared for at the end
Michelle Good luck on your trial!
I am getting a summer cold so will not be doing anything tomorrow or maybe Sat Oh well at least a good excuse to read! and be a sloth! My two favorite activities
Is it too mean to ask my DD to pay for a new charger for my I phone? It is for work only and she swears that she only used it to charge hers before she left today, but it's no where in sight. She said, "Mom, you can always go out and buy another one" Hello? I was not in contact with work for 1/2 a day because my phone was dead , I don't want to take the time to buy a new one, it is not here, (here is one room) and *she took my stuff*
