So...whats for dinner?

Michelle, I'm glad you have a delightful distraction while you wait for the PET scan results. As I always say to the kids, if you can't actively do anything about the worry, try to change your mind's channel. I hope your clicker works for you!
Loved your faux reuben tale Debbie...and I hope you can find some good (less expensive options) for the dental procedures. Of course, I'd value going to the dentist I know and trust for such a big procedure. Good luck!
I have my first post-treatment mammo tomorrow at 7:30AM so I can get right to school after. Am first concerned that it is really going to hurt....then who knows about the results....
Dinner on my own for the last two nights....popcorn last night since I got home at 7 and had to call a close friend whose mother and (!) dog died within days. Finished the popcorn tonight with some bought hungarian mushroom soup. Nice! Even with the popcorn.
For tomorrow's lunch, I made myself a roll up (I make them like you do, debbie) with lovely lean roast beef (still working on "beefing up" those mitochondria:), Lacey swiss, a bit of horseradish mayo, and a leaf of kale instead of lettuce. First time I'm trying my roll ups with kale.....will let you know. -
Dear God:
These are my friends, whom I love and this is my prayer for them
Help them live their life to the fullest.
Please promote them and cause them to excel
above their expectations.
Help them to shine in the darkest places where it is impossible to love.
Protect them at all times, lift them up when they need
you the most, and let them know when they walk with you,
They will always be safe.Love you Girls♥

Debbie and all....
I am thinking I will be getting my results in the next day or so.... Not sure what the end result will be but, where the uneasiness comes in is, they saw something.... Brought in a surgeon who I had never seen... He did the repeat ultrasound (and at one point during the US the US tech said to him.... I don't think your in the right spot anymore)... Then they got back to the right area (I think) and did a compession where the shadowing disappeared (a good thing)... and said this is typical of Cooper's Ligaments (the ligaments that keep our boobs from sagging).... Don't know how much I trust this guy...
All of this crap will have to be addressed in the report so can't wait to see it... My BS will also have to sign off on the report before they will release it to me... Hopefully, if there's any doubt in her mind, she'll order a closer look.... In any case, if I see anything in the report that a I am uncomfortable with I will put in a call for a meeting to discuss results....
All in all... I am thinking the results will come back OK.... It's more of a matter of how much I can trust the results I am given.....
I want -
Lacey... Hoping your first post-treatment mammo goes well!! I found at the place that I go to that they were very cautious and considerate with respect to ensuring your comfort during the whole procedure! If, at any time, you feel uncomfortable, don't be afraid to speak up! You have definitely earned those stripes!! Thinking of you tomorrow AM!!
Deborye...
Thank you so much for the prayer!! Love ya, too and remember you all in my prayers each night.... -
((((((everyone))))))
It seems almost strange that so many of us are going through health issues or tests at the moment. I am thinking of all of you and sending prayers and love your way. Lets all keep each other posted on how things progress. I hope in a month from now it is all history and needless worry.
Tonight I will admit I am tired. The heart thing makes me tired and I have been too busy the past few days. Tonight by the time I got out of the Dr's and got home with the boys it was almost 6. I fed them left over spaghetti and chicken from last night at their request and after they went to bed DH and I made tuna melts. I prepped everything and he grilled it all on pumpernickel. They were good and what I felt like having.
So I want to end the day sharing a proud Mama moment. Around 11 I could hear one of the kids whining in bed and went to check it out. It was my older son, I asked him what was wrong and he said he had to pee. He actually woke up and knew he needed to use the potty. This is HUGE! He hasn't worn a diaper at night for a couple of months and I have a 50/50 chance of changing sheets at 3am. I think he finally has GOT IT! I was so proud I almost cried. I am going to let him pick the days activities tomorrow as a reward- life and errands be damned.
Good night all and sweet dreams.
-
Laurie- Awe, what a cute proud mama moment you had. I remember when my DD was finally potty trained, i cried too, its such a sweet moment when you know they are growing up! Your son deserves a great reward! I'm so sorry you are tired, i bet this heart thing is wearing you out. Bless your heart!!
Seaside- Dont you just hate when they talk in front of you but not in the sense you can understand it and they wont tell you much and leave you hanging. I have never heard of coopers ligaments but hopeing thats what they saw and nothing more. Hope you get your answers soon!!
-
Joyce, I hope you have a great time in Vegas!
-
Hope everyone has positive results on their tests, and Joyce, praying that your eye surgery goes well and enables you to see better. Amazing what can be done with eye surgery these days.
Laurie, the stress alone from those PVC's can make you tired, so please take it easy and take time to rest until you get a good dx.
I've been really lazy since we returned from vacation and haven't done a lot of creative cooking...just enough to get by. We ate our big meal lunch out yesterday at Grand Luxe...salmon picatta, so I made split pea soup for dinner with a salad. Dried fruit and nuts for dessert.
-
Welll yesterday was the day from hell for me! I have had a full blown head cold that quickly dropped to my lungs, was so close to calling the doctor on Monday as I have had a fever since Saturday that would get better with tylenol but then start to climb again.....argh.....then right in the middle of my online schoolwork the computer crashed!! I am trying to get everything done early this week as we are leaving for Ohio on Fri for my sons college grad.
there must be a little dark cloud hovering over the east coast right now giving us all of our little challenges and bumps in the road. Lets hope it passes soon and we all get some good news and reports.
When I went in search of drugs for my cold I bought some pre-made salads, macaroni and potato, and my poor husband has been eating them since Sunday with first some simple chicken breast, then a burger, then hot dogs. He said it was like a 3 day picnic..ha ha told him it was the best I could do being sick.....I may call the doctor today!
-
sorry you are sick carberry. Oddly since being treated for cancer i haven't even had a cold. go figure
I made the Mee Krob last nite. it was a lot of work and tasted absolutely awful.. nothing like the delicious dish i remember. However, the family liked it and we had a lot of fun prepping garlic, frying the noodles (they literally pop fried in like 30 seconds), and making the sauce. My bossy son #1 totally took over the wok. He has managed a bbq for the last year or so, has always been in charge and was literally pushing me away from the stove.. "Mom.. this is too dangerous for you - I know all about deep frying". He is an expert on everything.
Tonite I am grilling boneless chick thighs and corn - I'm going to try and grill it in the husks like they do on tv.. Had a wonderful day yesterday with lots of energy and got a lot of cleaning done. Now i need to plant the rest of the bulbs.. maybe today.
about potty training... I was total fail with my first. He was almost 3 before he finally got it. Son #2 however was a champ. At about 18 months he ran to the toilet, tore of his diapers and did a number 2... and he was trained. I never even contributed to the learning process. The daughter was easy too, mostly because she had a bladder the size of a football. She could go for hours without peeing in spite of drinking lots of water and strawberry milk.. (she was totally in love with the stuff). -
Apple: So glad you are feeling better! I'm sure your meal was delicious...you just haven't gotten your taste buds back on track yet.
Carberry: If you have a big event to attend, I think a visit to the Dr. to get a zpac is in order to help that lung congestion. It can zap that right away and get you on the road to recovery.
My DGD is going through potty training right now. When I visited her last week, she always wants to go to the potty with me, so when we went into the bathroom, she took her little seat and put it on the toilet for me to use. It was so cute! I had to explain that grandma was too big for that...it was her special seat! She is such a joy. I enjoyed my older grands as well...they are now in their teens and twenties. I have a GS who is 9 then my little DGD and DGGD. It's fun having them spread apart so you can continue to enjoy them in their development stages.
-
Yeah, a big east coast cloud!!! I looked at all my lab results very closely today and I can't see any sign of trouble anywhere. I looked specifically at the calcium numbers (bone mets cause calcium to leach into the bloodstream and may cause an elevated calcium number) and anything related to the kidney or liver. Everything is extremely good so I am relaxing a bit. False positive.
Deb - thanks for the prayers! You are very sweet, and always put something on here to cheer us.
Carrie - time for a visit to the doc. If you have a fever, you probably have an infection. Antibiotics to the rescue! I'm with apple - haven't had a cold since two months before my first diagnosis in 2010.
Ah, potty training. Two of my grandkids (ages 6 and 4) are STILL in night-time pull-ups. Drives me nuts as my kids were all dry through the night by the time they were 3. Sometimes I think the pull-up gives "license to pee." I think my DD is finally really working on it with them, so maybe the end is in sight. Congrats, Laurie, on making good progress at such an early age!
And Laurie - hope you can catch up on your rest today!
Joyce - safe travels, and enjoy every minute of Las Vegas...well, except for the time when you're locked in a conference room. Hard to "love" that part of the trip. But I'm sure you'll learn a lot. Sometimes these things are like trying to drink from a fire hydrant - information overload. Be sure to take some mental breaks Slot machines are good therapy
-
Joyce- Sorry about your eye problem hope the surgery corrects it! Have a safe flight and have fun in vegas (Love that place)
Kaara- It really is hard to get your energy back after a trip- Took me weeks before i felt better after hawaii.
Carrie- I have been fighting my cold for over 3 weeks now it turned into pnemonia dr. gave me a zpac i felt better but still coughing a lot and still congested this seems to just hang on. You should go to the dr so you can get some antibiotics if its in your lungs. Hope you feel better soon. Funny comment on the 3 day picnic lol!
Apple- Like Kaara said I'm sure your dinner was delicious but your taste buds are still off. You DS sounds so cute, trying to protect his mom! Here you are the culinary chef and he tells you, you'll hurt yourself lol!
Michelle- Well, that sounds like good news, so when will you know for sure? . Are your calcuim levels high too? I know on all my blood test it shows my calcium levels are high but no one ever says anything about it to me. Hope they tell you somthing for sure here real soon.
-
Debbie - my calcium levels are normal, thank goodness! Mine were high when I was diagnosed the first time and my PCP did a test for parathyroid disease, but that was normal. Has yours been checked? I am sure I'll get the test results on Monday, May 14th. They usually get PET results pretty quickly. Get lots of rest and get rid of that pneumonia!!!
-
Seaside memories, and Michelle, I am hoping for the best!
Apple, I'm glad you are feeling a little better.
Laurie, keep us posted with your heart problems
For dinner, I can't decide whether I want beer with avocados, vinegar and oil, or avocados on toast.
The other person who covered the southern part of the state resigned today, so I feel a little anxious. I'm sure it will work out.
I'm watching the Grand-dog who is keeping me busy, as I try to keep her entertained.
Doing major work on my plot in the Organic Community Garden this weekend with help.. Really excited about growing and nourishing my vegetables this summer.
-
Still lazy...dinner tonight was rotissary chicken breast, cauliflower, and a green salad....oh, and a little cranberry sauce on the side. Not bad for a quickie meal.
-
Dinner tonight was boneless pork chops marinated in Italian dressing and a whole lot of chopped garlic, foil-baked potatoes with butter, fresh chives and dill dip mix (I just sprinkle it over the potato), and cole slaw.
Bedo - I would vote for avocado with olive oil and lime!
-
Joyce- I hope you have a great time on your trip! Good luck with the eye surgery. You make me smile
Michelle- As always I love your attitude. Check everything out, make rational sense of it all and find some comfort. You are one smart lady. I will try to follow in your steps.
Carrie- I hope you are feeling better, sound like you should head to the Dr. Lol at your DH having picnic's:)
Debbie- I hope you are enjoying your time without your DH, sometimes it can be nice to be on your own. Hope you are feeling better.
Seaside- Thinking of you- keep us posted if you can.
Apple- Such a disappointment after all that work to not have your meal "hit the spot". Your DS is too cute though- "look out mom..."
Kaara- Your dinner sounds good to me, great meal for being lazy!! Love your story about your GDG.
I am not doing so well with the potty training thing either. DS #1 is 4 1/2. He has not worn a diaper since before his fourth birthday. Michelle- I agree with the pull ups thing, license to pee. He goes through periods of being great for months and then regresses and has a pee accident here or there or refuses to poop at all. We do pull ups at night here and there, basically when he goes on a peeing spree and I am sick of laundry. But to actually wake up and go use the bathroom was a first. It shows he is aware enough to control it- so no more pull ups at night. Nwo we have tp remind him he can do it.
Today we went to the outlets a half hour away to try to buy DS#1 new sneakers. He doesn't like any of them, none are comfortable enough. In two weeks I have taken him to 9 stores. He is driving me nuts. But for a surprise to show him how proud we were of him last night we met DH for lunch at a restaurant and he was so excited. I kept telling him I had a surprise for him and when we pulled up tp the restaurant after shopping and DH was standing there he went nuts, " my surprise is DADDY!!!!"
Tonight for dinner I made chicken marsala with rice and asparagus. It was good, not DH's favorite but ohwell. As far as the heart thing I just keep trucking. I won't see a Dr till June 1st to get test results etc so I need to put it out of my mind. Sometimes easier said than done. On my way to the outlets I had a bad burst of them while driving on the highway with the boys and had to fight an anxiety attack, but I won damn it. Thank God for breathing techniques
-
Laurie, I know that this is really bad, but the M&M method worked for me. Each time you use the potty, here you go! An M&M!
-
Laurie, I always thought the worst thing about heart concerns is the accompanying anxiety...and when on the highway with kids? yikes!!! Impressive use of relaxing breathing!
When I'm not so tired I'll share two silly potty training stories.
Had my mammo very early this AM... yes Joyce, I was in the machine as you were typing....and saw your post as soon as i was in the waiting room. Thank you!! It was like a warm blanket I needed since this was my first time back to the same rooms in which I was dxd...same doc who gave me the news, etc. It all felt so odd...then of course I was called back...some concerning area on the other side. So more painful squishes, but at this point it appears to be scar tissue near where I had a duct removed (benign) years ago. She seemed comfortable letting me loose ntil my MRI in 6 months so I'm good with that. She was concerned tho with my fatigue (surprised she even asked) and wants me to get back to oncologist about it. I will....
Have fun in Vegas, Joyce ....and if you happen to run into my DS2(he's going tomorrow with his cohorts), you can leave it in Vegas.. I doubt he'll be in any medical conference rooms
Good luck with you eye procedure!
All you sisters with respiratory ailments, take your meds and feel better soon!
Apple, I think of you when I hear the Judy Collins song "cook with honey" (I think that's the title)... do you know which on I mean? Glad to hear you had an energetic day....and I agree with Kaara about the taste bud probability.
Gotta get to bed....up at five and working until five too much for this old gal.....
Oh, and Michelle, like your research....solid reasoning....and maybe I am the start of the dissipation of the East coast cloud. -
Bedo- I have done that and more. We actually made a grab bag of 1 dollar toys, (1 for each day with no accidents) reward charts, stickers, candy etc. The kid is bullheaded just like his mom ;P
-
Laurie - I agree with Bedo, some kind of immediate reward. Sticker charts are good, too! I am thinking that if your test results were not relatively normal, the cardiologist would be seeing you sooner, so maybe you can take comfort in that notion. You're right that I try to find the logical stuff and that helps me "process" my situation. And by golly I can rationalize most anything
-
Michelle- That is exactly what I tell myself when things get weird. " No one is worried. There is nothing to worry about. You are fine. Stop." and I repeat
Our minds are crazy things. We need to keep our thinking logical and positive. Not that I need to tell you that!
-
It has been so long I can't remember when my DD was potty trained. She had accidence once in a while most of the time it was when she was outside playing and didn't want to come in the house. For supper I made a Shepherds Pie and right now waiting for the dinger to go off for Corn Chowda, I'll have that for my lunches. Sunday I was busy gardening and didn't know there was a huge Turkey walking by me about 5 feet away, I don't know who was more scared. LOL. Then he/she went over to my neighbors and I could hear her on her cell phone yelling, "There is a real live Turkey in my yard." Too funny.
I don't have any doctor appnts until June 21st. I'll take the day off as I have my mammo, then follow up with BS, then onco appnt for follow up on results for my TM's. I will get the blood drawn a week B4 appnt.
-
Michelle- We will be keeping our fingers crossed for good news on Monday!! I don't think i have ever had my parathyroid tested, is it a blood test?
Bedo- Glad to see you check in. I think the beer alone sounds good lol!
Laurie- Yes, I'm looking forward to some alone time tomorrow. Yay!! Oh, that must of been so scarey to have the heart palpatations while on the High-way with your DS. Glad you were able to keep yourself calm during it. funny and cute story about your DS saying ,"My surpise is Daddy! LOL!
-
Wow, a whole nother page i missed, you girls have been busy!
Lacey-Glad all was fine with your mamo. Some women really have pain during there mammo's, for some reason i never did, it was uncomfortable for me but thank god not painful.
Deb- Laughed out loud on the turkey story LOL!
Everyones dinner sounds so yummy. I made chicken and asperagus and left over macaroni salad, I made a mix of mayo, parmesan, paprika (lots) garlic powder S&P mixed it up real good, dipped bonesless, skinless chx breast in the mayo mix then into bread crumbs. baked at 450 for 25 minutes it was pretty good. For dessert i had a graham cracker with a piece of choc in the middle and microwaved it for 15 seconds to soften the chocolate. Yummm!!
-
Laurie: Do you ever feel lightheaded or faint when you have these PVC's? I did and that's what sent me to the ER with mine. The cardo doc said the reason I felt faint was that when I got the skipped beat, there wasn't enough oxygen getting to my brain...wonderful...as if I didn't have enough problems. One thing I do now when they start is cough real hard, and sometimes that stops them. It's something with the electrical chambers of the heart that malfunction, and coughing helps to put it back on track. Silly, but it works for me.
Michelle...good luck on your test results.
Lacey: Great news on the mammo. I have to schedule mine for late May before I leave for NC. I've already had the clear thermography so will be interesting to see what the mammo comes up with...nothing I hope!
-
Debbie - yes, a simple blood test could detect a problem with the parathyroid. If your calcium levels have been consistently higher than the normal range, your doctor should look for a reason. Yummm on the dessert...I would have spread that cracker with peanut butter then waved it with the chocolate!
Deb - very funny about your turkey visitor. When we lived in MO, we drove by wild turkeys and deer almost every single day. But here in NH, I rarely see wildlife. I thought it strange at first, but I realize there are far more natural hidden habitats around here - they are not being forced into the open.
-
Forgot to mention this, but in NC where we have our home, we see wild turkeys, foxes, bears, the works! We're not out in the woods...it's a community...but surrounded by wooded areas, so that's where they live and sometimes they come into the community to get food....especially the bears. We can't leave bird feeders out at all because it draws them. I would never walk at night up there!
-
Kaara you are right, that what the doc has told my friend who has them, to try to cough forcefully or sneeze. The cardiologist that she goes to has them himself and he is very young, just outta med school (my moms cardiologist as well). He also says he keeps water with him at all times because being dehydrated brings them on and then he feels faint.
I did not get in to see the doc, but i am much better, most of the congestion gone, just a little in my head left. Did not do hump night last night, saving some calories for when we are in Ohio as my DS plans on taking us to his favorite restaurants, plus I didnt want to infect anyone with this cold.
I love the turkey story...we have them running across the road all the time here, but i have never had one that close to me!
Hope everyones testing shows nothing but good, and this damn cloud leaves the east coast!!
